Dr Doug I need to add this to my other comment. I was told a few years ago that I can’t lower my blood pressure without taking meds. I quit all salt and my blood pressure has been back to normal. They still have me on a low 5mg of Cyclobenzaprine. I get dizzy spells so I don’t take the med. My Nephrologist also said if I keep my BP in check he thinks it’s fine. I KNOW the body is great and it is really capable, with care, to heal itself.
Thank you for making me aware of OsteoStrong! Obviously, I've never heard of this because it's not available here. Can you kindly ask Mr Jaquish to consider opening centres in Southeast Asia? With only 10 mins, if it can do all the things that resistance training can do, hell yea, I would go! Have you tried it yourself Dr?
Thank you for this. I would love to see a study as well. I've been going to Osteostrong since about 2019 (except that I bowed out for a while during Covid). I had an increase at my DEXA 2 years ago, and then this year I had a decrease in my spine of 6%. I was quite taken aback and surprised and of course not happy. I have been on Omeprazole for Barrett's esophagus (and got quite sedentary during covid) though so I'm assuming that those two things took their toll. I was sure thinking Osteostrong would take up the slack, but it did not. I am currently working with my dr on a different plan to treat the Barrett's and am working myself back into a daily exercise program that includes impact and resistance in hopes of reversing this. I'm almost 62 so I know it's important for me to get active again.
Yes it is! If you'd like to learn how we can help please reach out to our team. OsteoStrong is a great way to load bones! However, you have to have the building blocks in place. Failure to get that done can come from gut dysfunction, poor diet advice and more. Let us know if you need help.
That was exceptionally interesting. Question, would a whole body vibration plate exert that kind of required force? Either to stand on or possibly even sit on? I find vibration plate info very contradictory, where low intensity is recommended (one brand in particular), yet a higher g-force seems to be required to build bone according to this video here. Thanks for all your very informative and videos to date.
On funding/sponsorship. I dont think the amount matters much. From politicians and donations scandals we know that important decisions in large countries were heavily influenced by donations of just a few thousand dollars, ensuring making millions if not billions for the donors. I am myself member of the CU/Crohn's organization in Germany and they are proud being funded only by individual member fees. However, their mini conventions with presentations are heavily sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry (snacks, coffee etc). And by human nature nobody wants to lose the money for that so subconsciously somewhere they will avoid conflicts with the sponsors. Like a lecture proving an expensive med is not helping and something DIY is much better. So always take sponsored info with a grain of salt.
The human mind is fascinating. In my new book I mention that everything big pharma touches is influenced by it even if subconsciously. The only way to avoid that is to prevent contact at all with providers which makes education difficult. It is a challenging space to navigate but I think we are far from the threshold at this point.
Wondering if there have been any studies since this video first aired? Considering OsteoStrong but would really like some more supporting data. Thanks.

I tried Osteostrong and liked it, but developed bursitis in my shoulder from it. There’s risk with any exercise, but I didn’t feel like the people at my location knew how to advise me when the pain developed. That’s what concerns me about going back.
So why have people fractured on Osteostrong machines if it is supposedly safe? The Liftmor trials had 0 fractures.I have to say I rather go to the gym .Safer and sooo much cheaper. A little disappointed that he did not mention the fractures that occurred with Osteostrong. I watched his video of Liftmor and he made a specific point that Liftmor was safe and NO fractures occurred with Liftmor, just a minor muscle strain
Hi. Fractures have occurred with OS. I have seen that in one patient but I wouldn't have sent her there in her condition. Weight training also has risks and I've heard of plenty of people with gym injuries. To say that the liftmore trial had 0 fractures therefore the gym is safe is a big leap of faith. Truth is, every intervention has risk! From supplements, to exercise to drugs. It's always a question of risk/benefit. I think the benefit of OS outweighs the risk if resources are not an issue. Dr Doug
@@Dr_DougLucas Appreciate the feedback. But given the fact that we are talking high amounts of weight and the people working at Osteostrong are not trained professionals in the field (aka, physiotherapists, a degree in kinesiology), I am sticking with my gym/trainer. I know the Osteostrong location in my city hired a former customer as a staff member. She is certainly not the person I would want to oversee me using such high forces, and that is probably how the fractures are more likely to occur at Osteostrong. For a program that only allows a 1x week visit and is not overseen by a professional, the price is not justified. A certified trainer in bone fit exercise would be the way to go
I live in Cape Town, South Africa, could you recommend someone here that can assist me, please. I have been on bifosphanates for 11years. I am 70 years old. I have osteoporosis in spine which is getting worse and osteopenia in hips. I required extractions of 2 teeth and was referred to a maxillo facial surgeon each time because of the risk of osteo necrosis of the jaw. The surgeon asked me why I am continuing with the medication if it is not working. He pointed out that the half life of bifosphanates is 8 years and that my bones could get brittle and would fracture like glass. It is for these reasons that I have stopped taking meds and would like to go the natural route and hopefully be able to reverse my osteoporosis. Thank you.

Great question. You would have to ask your surgeon if that’s allowed for you. On principle you can’t break a hip but can have other fractures around your implant.
Yes, each patient is on a different path in their bone health journey when they first begin. Our goal is to figure out what treatment plan is best for your specific case in order to have optimal long-term results.
So the key is determining whether one's bones can take the exercise, without finding out the hard way. Is there a T-score or other indicator to use to predetermine this?
Unfortunately not. This is why doctors will tend to be very light in recommending exercise. No one wants the liability. Our approach is to start light, be smart and progressively overload. There is an unknown risk with exercise but we know the risks of no exercise!
This is my third winter doing OsteoStrong. I added AlgaeCal last winter and after 5 months my dexascan went from -3.2 to -3.0. Anything not worse is considered good. I had .2 improvement
That was the T score of all combined. There were about 16 months between the first and second Dexascan. As long as it's not getting worse, I'm happy. I drive an hour once/week to the OsteoStrong center. Each machine is about 15 seconds. I also do the PEMF mat, the Biocharger, the vibe plate, and the hydro bed while there. Afterwards I reward myself with a huge spinach salad at my favorite restaurant. 👍
I believe my one hip is weaker. I want to stress that I find the monthly chiropractor visits really good to straighten out gardening kinks. I also do a few daily planks right after waking up, and even after driving or sitting in the car. I call them 45° planks where you lean against a counter (or back into your car like you're reaching for a hat) letting the back fall into alignment before walking. I ALWAYS feel great after OsteoStrong and the chiropractor. Almost "bouncy". Pain wise, from just existing... good and bad days. Try it! It's just you against yourself, no one else. It should not hurt. I also do the x3, but not regular enough. Age 74.

@@aprilapril2 I know. The DX scan said osteoporosis of lower lumbar. The mention burning pain in upper spine is what im trying to find out if his diagnosis is right based on the osteoporosis reading. How does he know it's osteoarthritis?
Multiples of body weight. Weight lifting is not likely generated more than a single MOB. Dr. Jaquish showed in his research that you need 4.2 MOBs to stimulate bone growth. That can only be done through impact or osteogenic loading (OsteoStrong). However, we do see some research that shows subtle improvement with resistance training alone.
I have stopped Prolia after 3 years (6 injections). Have to take Bisphosphonate whilst on Relay but have severe side effects. Hoping to reduce medication by starting Osteo strong. Is that a plan??
Question as I can't seem to get an answer otherwise. Is there any benefit to Osteostrong if you have primary hyperparathyroidism? It would seem counterintuitive to do bone loading if calcium is being depleted from the bones and I'm wondering if you may end up with more harm or damage than good?

What tests are used to determine bone density (dexa)? I have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and would love to try OsteoStrong. I'm in RI so the closest option will be opening soon in Boston.
Doctor, are jumping jacks a good form of exercise to build bone in the legs and hips. Also would you recommend them to a generally healthy 60 year old. I was just worried about the stress it puts on the knees and if it would cause any damage.
Hello, jumping jacks have not been studied for muscle building or bone health that I am aware of. They are obviously a classic exercise that has been done for decades. My concern is similar to yours, and that there is an awkward stress on the knee and ankles during the activity. I think there are likely better activities to consider.
I visited an osteostrong location today. The machines in my opinion, were like doing isometric contractions with a strain gauge to measure effort. Am I wrong?

I’m trying to find the information on Osteo strong on your site here I don’t see it. However, what happens if you are 76 and you have two hip replacements that have been there for several years and you have osteoporosis and RA? What about the hip replacements? What will that do or how will that be affected by this thing? It sounds very good but I guess it is just not for everybody. Thank you.
Always check with your physician, but generally speaking, as long as you're cleared for physical activity, most docs give the green light. At our center in Carrollton TX, we have MANY members with both replaced knees and hips, RA, and a whole host of other physical challenges - they're doing GREAT.
I’d like to know your opinion about taking Strontium citrate (NOT ranelate) for building bone density. The Algaecal Company recommends it but my doctor says it could be harmful to kidneys.
Assuming one does OsteoStrong once a week, how should an individual supplement this otherwise -- 😂vibration plate, walking with weights, cardio or something else? What and how much?
Great question. I did a presentation for OS last night. Theoretically OS will provide adequate muscle and bone stimulus so from a healthspan perspective I would add walking daily, some zone 2 activity (bike/treadmill at an incline), farmer's carry for grip strength, pilates for core (careful), and some zone 4 activity if tolerable. I also like to lift weights so I do that too but it may be redundant. This is a lot of volume so work with someone who can tell you if that's right for you.
Hello, depends on your situation! It's possible and we do have patients that run those distances but to make that determination requires a lot more information.
Excellent explanation of why the BHOF is making a mistake by hot recommend this type of loading because they want research at the pharmaceutical level with large double blind, randomized controlled trials - this is a big mistake with exercise and really misleading albeit not intentionally.
Don't we already know that a control group who does nothing is going to deteriorate? Obviously, having a control group would be more scientific, but let's be real. If at-risk osteoporotic patients improve using Osteostrong, that's significant. Problem is, it's SO expensive. My sister (dx'd at age 35) does it. I was dx'd at age 38, have been on Prolia for a few years, and would LOVE to get off of it. If this program (and maybe even his X3 equipment) would help me get off Prolia and not end up with broken bones, I would do it in a heartbeat. I hate all these meds and no longer trust the corrupt U.S. healthcare system. If COVID taught us anything, it was that the bureaucracies are driven by profit and power-hungry control freaks. They really don't care about your health. What I've learned since then, is that this isn't new. It's been happening for decades. You might want to try setting your camera to manual focus, and zero it in on your face, so it's not hunting for focus every time you move.
Thanks for the feedback! I've played with the focus but since I record these solo with no support team it's difficult to get it right. I've had to scrap entire recordings because I move too much..... I'm curious what your plan is for Prolia after 10 years? You're so young!
I want to take your master class but need an earlier time because I'm on the otherside of the Atlantic and Mediterranean. How long is your master class and do you offer it at earlier times?

What a great salesman! Without proper vitamins supplements addressing all minerals , K7, k2 etc along with proper exercise! I’m 71 l love my weight training ! Just another machine pusher!
This makes little sense. Professional ballet dancers, who are constantly jumping and using a lot of body strength, with all of their superior conditioning are notoriously osteoparotic in their later years. And those are full impact jumps performed during several decades of their very intense professional training and career. Yet, all that jumping does them very little good as far as their development of osteoporosis.

Dr. John Jaquish has published several research papers on the X3 Bar. These papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals, but they have been criticized for a number of methodological flaws. One of the main criticisms of Jaquish's research is that it is small. Most of his studies have only involved a few dozen participants, which is not enough to draw any firm conclusions. Additionally, Jaquish's studies have often been poorly controlled. For example, he has sometimes failed to control for factors such as diet and exercise, which can also affect muscle growth. Another criticism of Jaquish's research is that it is biased. Jaquish is the founder and CEO of X3 Alpha, the company that sells the X3 Bar. This means that he has a financial interest in the success of the product. As a result, some people believe that his research is not objective.
All valid points! However, research on exercise is often flawed, under powered and biased. The question is how much research do we need to understand the risks and benefits and make a decision for use. Do something like X3, what’s the risk? Cost, that’s about it. Benefits can be seen with use. I don’t need to see a well designed trial to make a recommendation for X3. That video is on its way!

They still have me on a low 5mg of Cyclobenzaprine. I get dizzy spells so I don’t take the med. My Nephrologist also said if I keep my BP in check he thinks it’s fine. I KNOW the body is great and it is really capable, with care, to heal itself.

@@Dr_DougLucas Will do! Thank you!
And the force absorbed into the bone matrix from hard impact such as gymnast's, is also bad for older people with back damage.
Thank you for sharing this!
Hello, take a look at our video on whole body vibration to help answer this question.
Great information..

Thank you.
We actually have a few program options for international patients. If you are interested you can schedule a discovery call at this link --> www.optimalbonehealth.com/schedule
If one does Osteostrong and sees improvements over time, presumably they need to continue it for a lifetime in order to maintain it? I do CrossFit and already lift heavy regularly, but it has not been sufficient to keep me from losing bone density post menopause. I want to continue CrossFit for the functional and strength benefits, but I'm now thinking I may need to do Osteostrong as well.

Does my anterior hip replacement negatively inhibit these exercises?
Thanks for asking, I was wondering that too.
Great question. You would have to ask your surgeon if that’s allowed for you. On principle you can’t break a hip but can have other fractures around your implant.

@@lynnemuller721 Thanks for sharing your experience! Is that score hips (femoral neck), or spine.. or both?
Age 74.

Doctor, are jumping jacks a good form of exercise to build bone in the legs and hips. Also would you recommend them to a generally healthy 60 year old. I was just worried about the stress it puts on the knees and if it would cause any damage.
Hello, jumping jacks have not been studied for muscle building or bone health that I am aware of. They are obviously a classic exercise that has been done for decades. My concern is similar to yours, and that there is an awkward stress on the knee and ankles during the activity. I think there are likely better activities to consider.

You’d have to ask your doctor your specific limitations! It’s probably possible but they will require you to ask him first.
Always check with your physician, but generally speaking, as long as you're cleared for physical activity, most docs give the green light. At our center in Carrollton TX, we have MANY members with both replaced knees and hips, RA, and a whole host of other physical challenges - they're doing GREAT.

Hi! Thank you for sharing this. Studies have shown that this will improve bone quality when done correctly but must be done in context to the big picture of health optimization in order to be maximally effective.
Ballet dancers are notoriously malnourished.
