What are some things you do to save money? ♥️
I try and do things at home, such as going all things that can be expensive, I also hope your OK XX
I have also a budget and stick to that most of the time 😊 i bought from farmers and smal business. Food is to eat and i dont waist it. I am earlier retired because of a accident and i cant work anymore so i have less money now to spend but i am doing so okay with stick to my budget 😊
Before I buy something I really sit with the question “do I Need this…. Or can I do just as well without it…?

@@ManuelaChristina1 Love this mentality! It's true, I personally feel sometimes when I have less money it makes me much more careful with how I spend it! So happy you're able to stick to your budget and still support local & small businesses.
Your best advice is keep it simple. Stay off of things that influence you in the wrong ways. I was the paper towel queen. Now I use rags. Any cotton or linen clothes or things that are no longer usable get made in to rags. Vinegar, water, and an essential oil make a great all purpose cleaner. Remember, a nice scent does not equal clean. Clean things do not usually have a scent. We support our local dairy. They are in all our major grocery stores here. Costs a little more, but it supports our community. Ladies , there is no such thing as an anti aging or anti wrinkle cream. I had an honest dermatologist. Don't fall for those. Jojoba oil is a great facial moisturizer. Our schedules are odd. I male my own homemade frozen dinners. Going out to eat is expensive. And yes we do slip up on things now and then. But we're trying. ❤
I use Nellie's washing powder. We try to be a chemical free home. I use Thieves to make my own cleaning products, castile soaps for body, and plants to clean and detox the air. I started on this journey almost 20 years ago when my first child was born. I make my own candles to avoid all the paraffin. Even "soy" candles have paraffin in them unless they are guaranteed 100% pure soy. I've bought so many of my kids' clothing on ThredUp, but we also shop our local thrift stores. I’m 55 and an empty nester. My husband retires next year so we’re saving for a move in the near future nearer to the children and downsizing. I’ve been a cash envelope gal too for a few years now and it really helps keep us on track. Also meal planning and prepping saves money and time and I love using my instant pot as it saves energy. I shop on Vinted for the majority of our clothes now. I use smol for my laundry and kitchen cleaner. They come through the post in cardboard boxes and are vegan and cruelty free.
I’m a great Smol advocate too. It definitely saves money and helps me to be kinder to the planet.

Would you consider sharing a recipe for the homemade liquid soaps you were taking about with the castile soap and essential oils please?😊
If you don’t have one already I would recommend 3tier steamer. I would just chucked loads of veggies and fish and chicken in. Once all cooled down I mixed few combinations and blended them, put them in small pots and put them in the freezer. (I would have about few days worth of baby food that way.

Recently switched to ecover laundry powder instead of bulk buying ecover laundry liquid, which is cheaper and zero plastic because the powder comes in a cardboard box! (which I decant into a glass jar) also Kay if you really want the nice smells, have a diffuser going over your clothes when they're drying using your fave essential oil, or spray your clothes with a mixture of essential oil and water 😊 I personally am so sensitive to scent that I cant handle any chemicals that are in everyday laundry stuff anymore !
Brilliant Kay. Great information and saving ideas ....one thing I have learnt is that might granddaughter loves pasta with a tomato based sauce...ND omg goodness what a nightmare getting the stains out of clothes...so I just invested in a bucket. And then he. It's clothes change time ...I just soak her clothes I got the really old fashioned bar of green soap. Lik my mum used to use on my school house collar and cuffs. Give the stain a rub a dub..dub. Soak and the next best thing is the sunshine....it's the best ever for whites ... I have spent so much on different product's. ... your looking blooming well too this pregnancy is good for you 😊 xx
Great advice Kay. I now stick to a weekly food budget. I've totally minimised my skin and body care products. I no longer impulse buy or go to b&m for a load of unwanted cleaning products. I save monthly which now goes towards my three children for birthday and Christmas. My only treat is im trying to visit 1 or 2 new countries a year, but on a budget ❤
I use bicarb and white vinegar and some tea tree oil for cleaning, done that for years now so easy ❤ eco egg for washing machine lasts longer than they suggest too.
I love the vegetables and berries from my local farm shop❤ It's so delicious

Hello, love your videos. I am saving for retirement. My husband retired in December and I want to join him as soon as possible. I am eliminating unnecessary spending like daily lattes, lunches out, and cutting down on app subscriptions. 😊
I am also expecting a baby boy in less than a month. I highly recommend buying a powder scent free laundry detergent. You dont want any artificial scent to confuse your baby, for him you are the best smell and he needs to smell that! Scent free is also the best for shampoo, shower gel, hand soap etc..
Hi Kay I use the green company, for laundry sheets, and cleaning tables, also I use half vinegar half water an a few drop of essential oil
Hi Kay some good tips there, as they say less is more and trying these things out to see if they work and if not try some other way l must check out Vinted my daughter in law uses it for her and she gets most of our two grandchildrens clothes off there and for herself and does Facebook Market place for wooden toys if she can get them, l check out toys and books in the charity shops, you can pick up some nice things, we use Eco washing liquid and softener, bit more expensive but last us a while but only two of us in the house now, do not buy the beads to help your washing smell nice as they have tiny bits of plastic in them and we know we have more than enough of that in the world, you are looking well and baby will be here before you know it, take care xx

Great tips Kay. I used The Nappy Lady website when I bought our daughters muslin/terry nappies 2 years ago. They were so helpful giving lots of options and price points when you filled out the questionnaire. My plan was to use 100% cloth nappies at the time but when she arrived we eventually settled on using disposables at night along side cloth. Now she's two unfortunately we use disposables all the time due to potty training and convenience. I have kept up with the cloth wipes, so much better at cleaning than the usual wipes. I also saved so much buying preloved as well for my little one, they grow out of things so quickly x

Great video Kay! I feel the same as the lady who's written below me. I want to make memories with my family, felt like this since lockdown, so I'm saving for lovely breaks away in this country and abroad. I don't spend on Amazon like I used to, I don't buy veg and flower seeds only if necessary, I use old ones which have still germinated and I've stopped buying those expensive gardening magazines which churn out the same stuff every year! We've saved such a lot growing our own veg. I ask myself do I really need this item, I leave it for a few days and have a think. I've also started to make my own cleaner and room fresheners. Also sold so many clothes I don't wear on Vinted. I've saved so much towards my week in Spain next month. You look glowing by the way!! xx
My granddaughter uses reusable nappies and wipes has done for all 3 of her children all under 5. I was very impressed with her.

My parents used reusable nappies and wipes for me 🙂 Besides the fact that they are good for the environment, health and bank account they are also really practical when traveling, especially when visiting a country with hot climate. You can travel much lighter when taking a couple of reusable nappies and wipes that you can wash and dry in the sun real quick 🙂 But I can understand that it's not for everyone.
Those nappies are a great idea, just be careful as they can cause serious rashes as there's no air ventilation. So really recommend letting your baby air out down there to prevent rashes. And coconut oil on the bottom to keep the skin from getting too dry - I know this because I used to work in nurseries and there was a few kids with these nappies and every single one of them would get a horrible rash which would make the child very upset and irritated
Dear Kate, you may wish to look into Himalayan nuts for your baby’s laundry, they are 100% natural and can be reused 2 or 3 times depending on the programme you use. I have been using this for many years as well as organic washing powder. It is a bit odd in the beginning not to smell a fragrance but the laundry is so much softer especially on the skin. Such good tips. I use quite a few already 😊 And yes, buying something in higher quality that is easy to use and will last, though costing a bit more initially, wil safe you sooo much money. I calculated how much I saved over the years by switch to reusable menstrual products, quite shocking 😅

Yay for reusable nappies! We are using that 80.% of the time and one time nappies for night and naps and when we are away from home and don't have as much focus on changing nappies.
But do try baby potting,.EC (elimination communication). He will most definitely pee when you are removing the nappie and then hold him over the sink or toilet instead of getting it all over is a start. And then.you will start to pick up signs of when he needs to go and voila you have started! Our son is 13 month and today we didn't have to change the reusable nappie.the whole day because we let him use the potty regularly and the nappie was dry. So good for the planet, the wallet, the energy of the parents AND for the child to be dry early.

This is a great video! Modern reusable nappies are so easy to use now - easy to wash and no ironing required. Cheeky wipes are really great for wiping bums or to use as little face cloths.
I make a multi purpose spray by simply using a squirt of washing up liquid and fill the bottle with water. I like to add a few drops of essential oil xx
I used clothnappies for all three of my babies, never had reusable wipes . We just wash the babys bottom under the tap here in Finland.
We have the milkman delivery,have done for 20 year's, lovely to have milk delivered outside our front door, in all weathers .Also we sit in the conservatory the warm sunshine comes in, & also drys the washing on the clothes horse.👍☕🤗💐
Super tips Kay .Im going to send this to a friend who truly needs it 😊Ive brought up 4 boys living just this way .They had minimal usually wooden toys and now the grandchildren are playing with the garage and Brio and blocks very happily .
I have the instant pot with the air fryer, it’s a great space saver. The air fryer area is not large but would work for a family of 3. I have to say though that I really don’t use it enough🙈 so would love to see what you use it for if you get one. I too have the pot on my wish list to make bread. I really want to make sourdough but I just keep putting it off, I must just take the plunge!

Really good and practical video, Kay, without being extreme or militant. Sometimes it can be discouraging to think about going zero waste or some such, when if everyone just took baby steps toward sustainability it would help our environment so much. You inspired me to try my husband's straight razor on my legs this morning. I wound up with little nicks in several places, so this will definitely be a learning experience but one I'll continue.

Thank you Kay. I have an instant pot & the new instant dual drawer air fryer would Highly recommended both. I’ve not used my oven for months now, air fryer covers everything, you can cook an entire meal in it.

We use a laundry egg! U can get them online and they are scentless and lazy for so many washes (we use white vinegar n oils in it occasionally aswell. It's plastic yes but ours is going to last all our lives.
I love my instant pot! I've had it for years! it comes in handy on those days where you don't take your meat out the freezer in time to defrost. I just chuck everything in there and its done in like 2 -3 hrs time. Also i think you will love cloth diapering i'm on my 2nd baby with using cloth.
I have started to make my own cleaning products. Also I also get a produce box so I try my absolute best not to waist food.

This is a great video. I’m currently saving for a house deposit and am focusing on using the food I have at home instead of jumping for a takeaway. I am also doing some no buy weeks but aiming for a month. I get more notifications from my bank account too so I am notified even if I feel like avoiding it!
Some additional tips:
Unsubscribe to any store news/emails, so that you're not tempted by any offers. Same goes for any social media accounts that might influence you to buy more things than you need. And while you're at it- are there any subscription services that you don't really need?
Shop for your groceries online and less frequently, you're less likely to impulse buy and waste food you already have at home.
Fruits or veggies going bad? Chop them up and freeze them!
Air/hang-dry your clothes, it's cheaper and better for them
Re-evaluate your spending every month- is there anything you spend more money on than you'd like?
Omg I use my instant pot almost daily. It's been the best appliance I've ever had. You can now buy an instant pot air fryer lid which I'm very tempted by (I've never owned an air fryer because IMO they take up way too much room).
This is soooo good to hear!! I've seen those too and I think it's the reason I haven't committed yet... sometimes we have too much choice don't we 🤣
@@Livingthelifeyoulove there definitely is too much choice. I have a tiny kitchen so an instant pot has allowed me to squeeze about 5 appliances into 1 (6 if I pull the trigger on the air fryer lid...🙊). All the best if you decide to get one after all :)

Im trying to switch to clean products,I've purchased vinegar, bicarb and essential oils but unsure what to do with it, also looking for clean clothes wash and dish wash, fragrance free, as fragrance is so toxic.. also shampoo and makeup, preferably foundation, I can't find any...any recommendations please?

It sure is! Definitely check out Fairyland cottage if you haven't already. She's made some wonderful videos over the years and some dedicated to natural cleaning. I'm slowly switching over to Bio D for laundry powder as a lot of mums I've asked for advice from about cloth nappies recommend it. As for the rest, i'll be sure to share any I find along the way but it's definitely a slow journey trying to balance buying natural/less toxic products and supporting brands doing things well but also not spending too much at the same time. From my own research I think 100% pure, Inika & Zao could be good make up brands to look into. Think Dirty is a great app that shares what nasties are in certain things so can help when buying a new product! Soo happy to hear cash stuffing is working for you 🥳 x
