- For this video, I headed over to the Cai Png (mixed economic rice) store at Gourmet Express food court in Bishan to assemble and demolish a 5KG plate of Cai Png. Cai Png is a Southeast Asian concept where you get to choose an assortment of side dishes ala carte to go with your serving(s) of rice at extremely affordable prices. Shout-out to my good friend Wilsurn Lim for the Cai Png recommendation!
Dishes come prepared in every way imaginable, be it braised, deep fried, steamed or stewed, and it would be difficult to exhaust all their permutations of chicken, pork, fish and vegetables. For the cost-conscious, vegetable options are the cheapest, followed by chicken and pork, with the most expensive being fish. Although most of these dishes are cooked in bulk, they usually taste at least adequately, especially when you factor in the price, with a few stand-out sides depending on the store you are at.
As times are bad now, I tried to be economical with this challenge, resulting in a 5kg plate of food that only cost me SGD$22! The cost for your average person should only be $3-5 depending on how extravagant you wish to be with your sides. I managed to complete this challenge in just under 32 minutes!
The one that I went is at Bishan Interchange, Blk 514A! Do head down to your nearest Cai Png place to get good and affordable food!

Omg, that kopitiam is just a few minutes walk from where I stay! It used to be a Mcdonalds until it was converted into a koptiam many years back. I always go there for the roasted delights and the bak chor mee.
By the way, theres this free-flow steak buffet place that you might want to check out,its called The Armoury and it costs $30 for unlimited steaks and meats.I think it makes for quite an entertaining video

I belief its called economic rice in malaysia, or well known as ca fan, and its called prasmanan in indonesia. Although this buffet style is not very popular in indonesia
I tasted this before. I think it's ok but not the best. It's dirt cheap for sure!
It's me again and I will recommend my mixed rice at Kim Keat Palm Food Market and Food Centre which has a chye peng stall at the hawker centre.
2 veg 2 meat = $2.80-$3.00 Let's see if any chye peng stall can beat that! The taste is definitely better than the one at Bishan.

Idk why but these kind of things sometimes makes me a bit sad; seeing these workers producing this 4kg of food and serving and all for 16 bucks that they are gonna split among them all. Rice for you is one of the cheapest caipeng in the market. Their caipeng are quite good. The company who owns Riceforyou sells at a very low price mainly for the lower income family.
Go to ur favorite coffee shop and order one dish from each stall.

Question: I can understand taking a large amount of protein and not feeling too full.
When you have rice or porridge and you drink water, wouldn't it absorb the moisture and expand in your stomach? Or do you whack the food fast enough before the rice expands?
It's like a double edge sword, if you don't drink it's hard to down but if you do it fills you up. So you'll need to have a decent capacity to drink a lot during challenges lol

I think this is what we have here in Australia, when you go to the food court. You get noodles or rice, with different choices on top :). Probably not authetic XD, but it's interesting to see where those food court Chinese places get their style from 👍.
