I agree and shows an agenda, to deny history so these teachers are not asked hard questions they can't answer in their liberal agenda. I spoke with a young man last year (19-20 yrs old) and asked about the civil war, the political parties and he told me that the democrats were in the north and abolished slavery... I proceeded to google the civil war for him, he was shocked it was the other way around.
I graduated from high school in 2017 I went to school when these kids were going to school and I remember learning everything from American history. I don’t understand how these kids don’t know the basics I’ll be surprised if they know basic math.

I'm Canadian and I, my children and grandchildren all know the correct answers to these questions. This is unbelievable! These things, as well as current events and issues, should be taught and discussed within families; do not count on a negligent and often-biased education system. If we don't protect and cherish our freedoms, we are bound to lose them.

I finally started reading 1984. I've heard it referenced and have seen summaries, but wanted to read it for myself. That's the excuse they use though. People will swear up and down that schools in the 90s didn't teach them about taxes, about buying a home, about debts, about mortgages... When all of these things were taught to me in middle and high school, from a public education in Georgia (which is not high on the list for education). That dumbass probably made a low C and barely passed history classes and then walks around saying "Well they didn't teach this and that blah blah blah" when it's much more likely that she didn't LEARN what they were teaching her...
BrassBashers My school didn’t teach any of the stuff you mentioned (2016 grad). I honestly had to learn it from my parents, and they were so puzzled why I didn’t learn it in school. I wish HS nowadays would teach it but it seems like the teacher at the end was similar to how I schooling is now. I remember even my senior year of school (I wasn’t too involved in politics at this point). My teacher made us take the political compass test and she wasn’t too happy when I was found to be on the right and they really never mentioned in school what side was what in the civil war. Never really went over the constitution with us, etc. Im sure it has gotten worse luckily I got out of school before the political divide got bad. But Im not surprised about that teacher at all, which is insane because pushing your own political agenda on fucking 5TH GRADERS, is insane.

@@BrassBashers Georgia education sounds better. In California they don't teach financial education nor anything regarding mortgages, taxes, and how to buy a home. Unfortunately, most of it I learned it through youtube. The high school economics class taught me about price vs demand. I did learn in high school how to fix a PC

I could have guessed this but it’s good to know for sure hearing it right from the teachers mouths that they don’t know our real history and that they’re on a mission to teach their narrative rather than the curriculum. This just further reinforces my position that if my kids were still school aged there is no way in heck I would allow them to go into the cesspool that is our public school system today. Public schools and universities have become indoctrination camps for leftists and socialists, any teaching on academics is just a distraction to keep the focus off their real mission.

In 1776 we got our independence from NOBODY! We declared our desire to sever our ties to English rule. A war still had to be fought,and won,to make that happen, then we had to form a government.That's why it's called the Declaration of independence.

I graduated high school in 1971. In.addition to satisfying state education requirements, if you wanted to go to college you had to have 4 years of English, 2 of American history, 2 of geography, 2 of math, 2 of a foreign language, 2 of science, 4 of phys Ed, plus minor classes, art, shop, etc. Extra curricular activities mattered. Being active in various school sponsored cubs mattered.
If you didn't meet the requirements, community college was available. No ,"remedial" programs available, there were too many students that proved themselves in high school.
Watching stuff like this reinvigorates me to continue to pursue my degree in education. I cannot wait to spread that celestial idea of Liberty in my classroom.

We were taught this every year fifth through eighth grade civil war, revolutionary war every year was talked about. Apparently the teachers skipped this one in their schools .

You have to talk about important figures in history, both good and bad so that kids learn from the mistakes and success of others. I am 49 and I would always question my teachers and I also learned most of what I know educating myself, it is alarming that as a Brit I know more about American history and the Constitution than they do. The complete and utter lack of education and self awareness today really annoys me considering the resources they have that my generation didn't.

I walked through a primary school to vote and noticed assignments hung up by 3rd graders such as alternative lyrics of the national anthem. WTF?

I’m 53. I was talking with a 20something year old about a month back. I told him things about the constitution he had never known. At the end of our conversation he told me he felt so ripped off that he knew nothing of the constitution. I promptly gave him my pocket copy and told him to READ and then pass on what he learned. Outreach people! Outreach.

That’s why my kids are homeschooled. When the parents are smarter than the school teachers, the parents are more fit to do the job.
It was an interesting ending... every student said they were NOT being taught what they should be, while the teachers were fine with it... what a disconnect
The issue with homeschooling though is that it creates huge bias and lack of social interaction. The kid needs to experience what growing up in the real world is like, talk and discuss with other people, be able to work with them. Kids would choose to be out with other kids than their parents.
Anyone who wants to raise intelligent, well rounded individuals, who prefer facts over feelings and have a grasp on reality, had better home school.

We learned own own history, south Africa and apartied, pre Columbus to modern day america, British history and the commenwealth, WW1 & WW2 is was also a "bad rebellious" student so I think it's your curriculum that needs changing or Rogue teaches need to be sacked coz y'all don't even know your own history.

There are a few things kids need to be taught
1) The Bible. America used to be a much better place and it wasn't that long ago when 60-80% of a given town would be at sunday service, I've never met a bad christian in my life and everyone has been very good in my christian community, both chinese and non-chinese. My sunday school teacher was the sweetest person I ever met in my life and I owe a lot to her
2) Kids NEEEEED to be taught about the constitution more than anything.
3) Kids NEEEED to be taught ACTUAL United States history particularly 'some' of settlement era but more on the war for independence up until the civil war and the expansion of the US from explorers.

I see the teacher's union in my town support a teacher who has essentially not taught anything for three years (third grade). She has admitted she "can't teach math" because she doesn't understand it. How did she get through her practicums in math and graduate? Or pass the license exam? Must be a pretty poor exam. She is crippling those kids for 4th grade work, and the teachers who actually teach are having to figure out how to teach both 3rd and 4th at the same time to keep up with the standards they are given. Horrible.

In the small public school I went to for a grade, most of the teachers there deserve a pay raise. They were kind and taught a lot more than the main public schools.
The teachers in the main public schools are either incompetent idiots or total assholes. I don't understand how they let "people" who hate children teach and complain about their pay work in the school system.

The public schools need a substantial financial boost, and I'm aware that this money won't fall from the sky, but otherwise you could as well burn the money. If you want the schools to perform, they need to be able to afford better teacher, and more of them. So that you get manageable/teachable classes. And the teachers unions need to grow a spine and start supporting the schools in getting to get rid of bad, lazy and incompetent teachers. Getting them out of the system and creating space for someone better; and not keep them in the system at all cost.
And besides all that, teacher needs to become a respectable job (as it once was) and (within reason) supported by the parents.
If I'm any good at what I do, why would I currently choose an employment as a teacher? Payment sucks, way too big classes where I don't have the time to address any child as much as it would need it. Parents dumping their crotch goblins onto me so that I raise them and teach them values and manners. And on top of that, If I dare to grade that little applicant for a Darwin award, a character that did the tide-pod challange twice, with anything less than an A then I'm the butt for not acknoledging their little Einstein and ruining his future.
Seriously, why would any reasonable person that would be worth the money do this job under these conditions?

I recently visited a classroom and saw signs that read "its Okey to pass" after the class the teacher explained..if the child doesn't want to read the next paragraph in the book outloud,outlook, can pass,so they don't feel "uncomfortable "

I'm so thankful we homeschool our kids. My 4th grader could tell you so much about the American Revolution. He's taught to love our country, that America isn't perfect and has her stains, but our country has an awesome and unique story.
If we want to change (or restore) the culture we need to quit sending our children to be educated by leftist in public schools. Worldview matters, and an anti-American worldview is being taught in our public K-12 systems.

rubetube92 as a teacher that teaches is a rural school district I can say there are quite a few that are conservative in thought. I feel that the conservative view is definitely a minority view in the overall teaching community. I wonder if their is a huge difference in thought between those that teach in a rural district and those that teach in an urban setting.

For those who wonder why we have to learn about the dates and connected facts of history, these are the framework or skeleton on which we hang everything that has happened in the past, which provides the context and flow of history, the story of the development of human civilization. Without this form there would be no defined chronological substance to give us an understanding of the world we live in. I asked myself this question when I was young and that is the answer I came up with. I think it still holds true.
The teacher at the end is a perfect example of how the public school system today teaches children what to think not how to think.
Instead of teaching the curriculum, that “teacher” admits to teaching students HER BS ideology. Find out who she is and Fire her.
