My son is 4 months old. When he was born and cried for the first time, my wife and I cried in happiness. Nothing beats the moments like marriage and having a baby. Life is the connections you make.

The reason bullying has become such a prevalent problem is because there are no consequences for bad behavior. If all these bad ass kids were taken out back and had to pick their own switches, like we used to have to, they'd be a lot more discriminatory about how they behave.

Please, no more "traditional" presidential debates. Replace them with a two to three hour podcast, with two, three, or four candidates sitting around a coffee table, in adequate lighting, in comfy chairs with drinks, discussing whatever they choose to discuss. No bright lights, no podiums, no time limits, no teleprompters, no binders, no cue cards, no earpieces, no live audience and absolutely no celebrity "journalist" moderators.
I can't understand why they haven't tried that once in the TV age. Debating at a podium makes sense if you're literally standing on a soap box in the 1800s, but we have the technology to let them flesh out their opinions a little better, and broadcast it to the whole country.

I was reading an article about Japan and the kids are taught respect and manners. Perhaps American schools should emulate that and bullying will not become an issue.

I understand the mentality of advocating for adopting an older kid. There are tons of older children suffering in the system. Those people making that ask have absolutely no concept of the reality of that decision. It's a HUGE ask. I've raised too many other people's kids as one of the good foster homes out there. They come out of the system with problems, both from what happened to them before the parents lost custody, and also from bad fosters. Just getting an older child to trust and bond with you as a parent is a daunting task on its own. Helping a kid overcome emotional and trust issues, THEN becoming the parent in his or her eyes is something few are even capable of doing. So many of these kids just end up back in the system because the adoptive parents just can't handle it. That, in and of itself, is even more damage.

My husband would always say what helped him get through the day was when he would walk to his truck going to work sit down and look to the window and see the 3 most important things in his world. His two children and his wife smiling and waving goodbye to him. With the younger daughter a lot of times she would be crying and sure as shit he would walk back into the house just to give us one more hug. I miss him still too this day and it’s been 12 years. My oldest daughter is pregnant and she just let me know if it’s a boy she will name him Leo. I could not be prouder

it makes me cringe when Tim and the cast talk about having kids and how important it is, and pretty much the entire cast this episode have no kids except Matt. As a father I agree with the sentiment, but it's like it's time to step up Tim you're like 38, and let me tell you it doesn't get easier as you get older.

My son’s scouting troop (Trail Life) talked about how men and women bond differently. Women bond face to face, but men bond shoulder to shoulder. Basically women bond by talking and socializing, men bond by doing things together like fishing or building something. This makes a lot of sense to me.

I was bullied (physically) in junior high. It stopped after my dad spoke with the father of the boy who was bullying me. I don't hear anyone mention this as an option.

I got bullied a lot in elementary school and middle school, as a freshmen I joined the wrestling team and boxing..

Speaking briefly on the "What do we do with old people with no family support" issue. First, ZERO private home care nor residential care is covered by Medicare or insurance. So you better have a ton of money, or you go to state care if you don't have family to help you if you're sick, injured or mentally impared, (sometimes it's all of the above) I take care of my husband who has Dementia and recently shattered his Hip & Femur, at home with full time nursing care. He had to stay 1 month in a skilled nursing PT rehab, and I saw the people who lived there alone full-time who were just parked there. It was AWFUL and $5k per month. We are taking care of him at home now, OT & PT are covered, but Private home Healthcare is $500 per day. Plus all the family pitching in. It's exhausting. It can wipe you out financially. If you don't have money and there's NO FAMILY to advocate for you when you're old & incspacitated, you're screwed. All these people who think the "single life forever" is free & easy are delusional. I have no doubt euthanasia is going to be a churning industry in another generation. THAT is horrifying and incredibly sad. But as more people move to ZERO reproduction, for expediency where else can it lead??
My mom has Medicare and Aetna. She doesn't qualify for any help, and I don't get paid to be her full time caregiver now that she's moved in with me. I don't want pay to care for her- but I had to quit my job to be able to care for her, and take her to dialysis 3-4x week, etc. It's def a strain on my husband to financially care for both of us, although mom chips in with the bills.
It's not easy being a caregiver at home, imo. God bless you for you being able to do that for your husband.

People don't realize Medicare covers hospitalization, a suppliment plan pays a percentage of RX & Dr. visits. But if a loved one needs full-time care at home...WE GET ZERO HELP. As someone who was terribly bullied from 4th to 8th grade, and also bullied by some teachers, i have an opinion. It started in the early 90s, and has gotten worse, you cannot defend yourself. If you fight back, you are arrested. Not punished by the school, but literally arrested. This empowers bullies. Something every juvenile school shooter has in common, they were bullied. Most suicides as well. Sickening. If that boy had been taught how to fight back and allowed to, he'd be alive and probably not bullied. By 8th grade, i was defending kids against bullies, even if they were teachers.
Edit: psych meds definitely are an aggravating factor.

This is still 100% on the parents. I told my kid early on, teachers, the school, cops....they are my problem. If she's ever bullied, stand up for herself. Fight back. If it continues, I'll handle it with their parents. The school is worthless, don't rely on them, they don't care. She's 13 now and I still don't allow social media apps on her phone. Why the fuck did this 10 year have snapchat to get harassed on for? Zero reason for a 10 year old to be on social media. These parents failed miserable on every front and the possibility of being arrested is no excuse.
YES! I hated how they always threatened the victim of bullying and gaslighted us into believing it could’ve been our fault that people unnecessarily targeted you. I hated that but I was glad my parents told me that if it ever got to the point that someone was trying to hurt me to just beat the crap out of them. The sad part is a lot of them were all mouth and those words definitely hurt to the point of depression with suicidal thoughts and moments of wrath. I overcame depression but the rejection and wrath I’m currently working towards overcoming.
Even when teaching my kids how to defend themselves, I often feel guilty but for their safety I have to teach them to fight back. Don’t necessarily have to back bite but I refuse to lose my child because other people are raising crappy kids. That’s why I hate the term “bring bullying back” like no some of us were normal kids and targeted just for being ourselves and intelligent or just out of jealousy. Bullying is evil. I don’t agree with targeting innocent people like what school shooters typically do because they’re cowards but I agree the schools suck at addressing the problem overall.
And I agree with the other comment. My kids don’t even know what social media is. My parents also told the school that I was not going to be a victim so they definitely have permission to defend myself and the staff was surprised. The parents on both sides are the problem. We have got to teach our kids to have thicker skin but also teach our kids to be kind hearted to others. I don’t have to agree or like someone to treat them like a decent human being.

I watched a Daniel Tosh standup and he told a joke that stated women would lose their minds if they were to ever see all thoughts men have ever had. Not the exact phrasing, but he had a point. Men and women don't think the same on a lot of levels, and quite frankly many women would have the screaming jaws dropped emote on their face if they knew what we have rolling through our brains on a daily basis. People need to stop acting like men and women are factory built and have the same interests and personalities at birth.
That's why I say women scream for honesty but hate the truth.
The most angry they can make me is ask what I think, I tell them openly and honestly, and they reply 'No! You don't think that, tell me what you really think" and it's like f you, I did, you don't like the answer I'm not changing it for you or anyone.
Meanwhile men ask women their opinion, they say some fake cutesy joke BS, we have to believe it because we ask why you think, we accept it. The no means yes video chick is a good example, as a man I'd never joke about that, so I can't believe she is joking, and why would you joke about something so serious as relationships and rape?
I am very prolife, but I had a friend get diagnosed with leukemia shortly after finding out she was pregnant. They had been trying for years. Without treatment, she was told she would be dead by the time the baby was viable, but the treatment would terminate the pregnancy. They tried to save the mother. That, I believe, is one of the rare ok abortions, because ending the pregnancy in a controlled manner is more humane than allowing the chemotherapy to poison it to death
I don't even consider this an abortion. It wasn't until recently. An abortion is an unwanted pregnancy. Someone who wants their pregnancy but is in a situation where result of the treatment causes the death of the baby - is not an abortion. Intentionally killing an unborn child because "you want your best life" or "I'm not ready" is not the same as I want my child but my pregnancy is ectopic or I have radiation treatments etc. etc. I think we have to get the conversation back to abortion, by definition, is an UNWANTED pregnancy and nothing else. Abortion is not birth control - which is how it is treated now.
@@CarlyValentino1038 I can see where you are coming from, but that's a subjective standard, not a definition. We can agree that the child was going to die, in any case, but it was still an abortion. An unwanted pregnancy is an unwanted pregnancy, the act of intentionally terminating a pregnancy by medical procedure is an abortion.
I can understand if she would have died before being able to deliver the baby but only now have we been at a point where the older a person is the more valuable they are. Through all of history it's the young who are more valuable because they are the future. If a woman is dying and can still deliver her baby but chooses herself over the baby that is abhorrent.

The attitude of "I don't have to be careful with all of the people I sleep with" needs to change. We need to shift the culture to one of more personal responsibility (way easier said than done).

I believe my friend would have been such an exception. The important part is the nature of the exception. Medical necessity should be defined and articulated, and not abused.

Tim needs to know that many kids steal from their elderly parents. My parents got old and when taking over their bank accounts to pay their bills you will be treated like a criminal. I talked to more than a few bankers about this. Many kids don’t provide any support for their parents aside from a funeral. It’s rare a kid really takes their parents on, i know kids who knew their mom was dying and went home to sleep and she died alone :( so having a supportive family depends on the family.

My wife and I have 5 children, I know exactly how Matt feels. People love to stare in public, they act like we are nuts, like we must be on welfare or something. It's disgusting and disgraceful. People always immediately judge and think of the worst. Especially when your in line getting groceries, a shopping cart full at BJs is barely 2 weeks worth of food for a large family like ours. People stare as if you must be on state assistance, it's bullshit! I work construction and my wife's a stay at home mother and full time student. I make good $ and make many sacrifices, sometimes it's hard but it's worth it through all the small struggles. I couldn't imagine living with no children, life would be boring and plain.

I was raised in a Brady Bunch-style family with 5 kids born with a 28-month time-frame. Mom definitely enforced discipline. When I was 4, she'd go grocery shopping with the 5 of us in tow. We all walked in line with our arms folded to keep us from touching anything. If we got too loud, we'd walk with our hands over our mouths. And if one of us acted up, punishment was swift and public. At the time (early 80s), she got compliments on her methods. Oddly enough, my later transition to life in the Navy was rather smooth.

My mother had 11 brothers and sisters, one of them died early, but they had to have lots of children due to gardening, gathering eggs, picking cotton, milking cows, slopping the hogs, yes, when I was 5 years old my grandfather owned 50 acres and used 5 of those acres to raise a garden, have a barn, raised hay on 40 of those acres. He had a bunch of cows, goats and pigs and chickens, also a catfish pond for Grandma to fish from. So I grew up hauling hay, milking cows and driving the hay truck while gathering and unloading. Yes, I would put the truck in Low-Low and then get out to load the trailer but I was like 10 when I could actually load the hay onto the trailer.
Here in Germany even the people who were homeless get the best care at a elderly/care home. The homes here are pretty damn good.

99% of the time families can homeschool. It may require lifestyle changes, but in almost every case, it is possible. People like to say "we can't, because...." but that's often an excuse. We've home educated our children since Kindergarten and now have two in college, and through those years most of the time I was starting a new business, on my own, no guarantees, no fancy bonus structures, no big commissions just day to day, doing honest work. But through it all God provided and we still live in the same house, we have hot water and hot food and our kids are all amazing, creatives, in their own ways. I encourage anyone w/ kids struggling in govt. schools to take the leap. You will not regret it!
Homeschooling is a bad idea. Send them to a decent school, move to a good area before having kids. Kids need to be around other kids, and you are not that smart.
You are absolutely right. Most of those making excuses are driving new cars, etc. we homeschooled our children and they are now homeschooling my grandchildren. They each use different methods. All the kids are doing great.

My aunt always wanted a family, but she never even got a husband and stopped dating in her 20s after an abusive relationship. Even though she was a HUGE pillar at AA (26 years sober) and she was loved by many people (over 100 at her celebration of life), she died just like Tim described... at home, alone, heart attack while getting out of the shower, got dizzy, hit her head on the corner of the sink. Her greatest fear was dying alone, just like that. :(
Why was a 10 yr old on Snapchat? My oldest of 5, an 11 yr old, has no phone, no social media, doesn't even think about it, and won't be getting anything like that any time soon. Home schooled. Most people work their 9-5 with that 1.5 hour break then order UberEats, chill, no yard, no kids, no home ownership, and they STILL cry!

Cows (dairy and beef), hogs, goats, alpaca, chickens, ducks. We both garden, but I'm the hunter, trapper, survivalist/bushcrafter that makes sure we can survive lol. Kinda comes with the territory when you're raised in a hunting camp with rednecks and your dad is a gunsmith. LOL.
