@@sasoriakasuna9050you're absolutely right. Every time I go back to the house of Beneviento my first thought is "there we go: now I have to go around looking for things and avoid that annoyance"
RE7 is the scariest overall but by the time I got to the Beneviento house in RE8, I made the mistake of underestimating it since the game hadn't been scary so far, so I did not at all expect that encounter with the baby creature which is probably why it scared me even more than the entirety of RE7. It reminded me of the experience of encountering the Rat King in TLOU2 for the first time.
I played both RE7 AND 8 , but RE7 is always the best because you are always in a tight corner of the house its gives more of a ghost game vide compare to rest of the franchise.
Mr X is ruining my play through tbh, since he came out and I realized I didn’t grab the large gear and need to do the bookshelf puzzle…I’ve been hiding out in save rooms waiting right at the door for him to come to me so I atleast know where he is before I make a run (actually walk to avoid detection) to get the gear- save room - wait- library puzzle- save room- wait- clock tower. I know this is sacrilege but I wish I could mod him out of the game on my Xbox
The regenerators scared the living hell out of me during my first playthrough. The first time when I used all my bullets and thought I killed it, it came slithering at me and when I tell you MY HEART STOPPED 😭
I still find Nemesis the scariest enemy in the entire franchise. You can't kill him at all and the more you knock him down, the faster he gets. I remember playing the original RE3 where I was so confident of taking him down many times but eventually running away from him went almost impossible.
Yeah, he was expertly designed in the original. I also miss the Nemesis choices we were presented. It made replaying the game more interesting the second time through it
@@funmylife9248 on your first playthrough(s), the cutscene choices added a great deal of quality adrenaline moments to a game already flush with quality adrenaline moments too. You had just enough time to make a relatively uninformed decision, and it was excellent 😅
I dare you to try the trick speedrunners use to get past the baby while using your VR headset, it involves side stepping the baby just before the kitchen but it's veeeeeeery easy to mess up...
Despite the baby being a very scary experience, I find that the Mia scene as soon as you enter the house in RE7 where she's trying to kill you with a kitchen knife crawling up the stairs to be the scariest of the RE franchise.
RE7 is the scariest in the series, easily. I believe this is due to it's two inspirations. The first inspiration was the true survival horror of the first game, and the second inspiration came from the disempowering indie horror games of the time, and the bigger games they inspired (Outlast and Alien: Isolation seemed to be especially influential). This allowed to the series to go back to its horror roots, while also learning some things from the scariest games of that era.
Literally I just posted in another youtube video about this. This was Capcom giving everyone a heads up that they weren't playing around! We all knew then we were in for a terrifying experience.
Oh man I was 14 when I first played that on the GC and that part terrified until I got to the hedge maze full of those infected wolves, then came the regenerators lol.
I found that part more annoying than scary. It's not bad if you have a good amount of ammo and if you have the light blaster they are absolutely effortless
For me in Rose's Shadows, the house Beneviento is even scarier with the dolls start chasing you while you don't look at them and when even more come it's completely terrifying in my opinion.
You should check out the episode of Doctor Who called Blink. While the majority of the show is pretty "bleh," there are some episodes that really hit. Blink is arguably the best episode of the series, and it's pretty much a stand-alone (you don't need to watch the series to understand it). If you liked this part of Shadow of Rose, you would love Blink (it's pretty much a straight homage/copy).
@@coryrudy98Hey thanks for the heads up about it being standalone, now I can check out what the fuss is about Doctor Who without having to commit to a thousand episodes 😊
For me, the scariest moment was in Revelations during the Rachael Foley boss fight. If you don't kill her fast enough she'll hide in the vents and ambush you every time you enter a new room.
Never played the game. Didn't like the scan everything feature. Plus the goo monsters looked dumb. I liked 2 though. Raid mode kept me entertained for like 2 weeks
@@funmylife9248 I know I'm asking too much questions cuz this game is really that worthy but what game was more scary re2 og and re3 og and also puzzles were better in which one ( soundtracks too)
@@kratos8529 Man, that's a tough one. I think overall RE3 was scarier on the first playthrough, simply due to not knowing when Nemesis was around the corner. On subsequent playthroughs, I definitely think RE2 is scarier. I though the music in that game, along with Mr. X's appearances made that game overall scarier on subsequent runs. How about you? I also liked the puzzles in 2 more
@@rarescevei8268Oh, it is, but the Mia dolls is still up near the top in scariest moments in RE. Weeping angel mechanics have gotten popular lately, but that's because they are really effective when done right. Even perhaps the least scary "horror" game of all time, FNaF: Security Breach, managed once section of actual fear by using weeping angel mechanics.
I am just finally now playing RE8. I like how I was initially disappointed that it wasn't as scary as 7 and then BAM, literally the scariest moment in the franchise right in my face.
i’ve been playing this franchise for years and i’d have to say the baby in re8 was definitely the scariest moment of all because it got me even as an adult. when i was a kid, it was always the dogs that scared the absolute shit out of me. i played re4 over a hundred times as a child when i finally got over the fear, but every time i played the dog maze was the worst part in the game 😂 sorry for the long comment
In the RE: 2 Remake the scariest part for me was in the sewers. That long corridor with the red light that leads you to the King and Queen plug. The Adult G's lurking through the water with the ominous red light was definitely the most nerve wracking part for me.
For me, the scariest moment in RE2 was the first appearance of Mr X, but not just because he's so menacing. As a veteran player, I was pleased with how close the game seemed to try to stick to the original (with a few layout changes). But in the original, Mr X only came after you in scenario B. Seeing him suddenly toss the chopper aside in my first playthrough, which was also on hardcore, actually took me a second to register who it was and the trouble I was in. The addition of his modern ai wandering the halls and the ability to hear his footsteps regularly was terrifying.
The Gigafetus is not as scary as the build up to it, but it is freaky enough to put the fear of God in you on your first time or two around. I was more scared by the regenerators because I used eight shotgun shells when I killed one for my first time. Then, regenerators, iron maidens especially, became more frustrating than scary.
@@funmylife9248 it might be because you didn’t burn eight shotgun shells, expecting regenerators to be a giant resource drain, leaving you either defenseless or resourceless over the course of the section. I became a bit more proficient in dealing with regenerators, and they didn’t scare me as much. The professional mode Iron Maiden made me want to irradiate out my hair.
@@coultersheppard2052 😂I absolutely did burn through a crap ton of ammo on the regenerators my first time through the OG. I think it was because of that that it felt more like a chore until I finally figured out how to kill them with the thermal scope. They honestly just became more of a nuisance, but that's just me
@@coultersheppard2052 That's actually a viable tactic! Just blow off one of its legs and then stun-lock it with your knife and eventually you'll finish it off
The Verdugo in RE4 also was a challenging adversary and pretty creepy too. The foetus and it’s creepy sounds are right up there with the horrible dolls and mannequins from Shadow of Rose. Overall, I think Biohazard was the scariest, creepiest, most claustrophobic and atmospheric of all the games. Hands down the most terrifying.
Regenerators will always be the scariest but I also think the castle maze with the dogs in Resident 4 evil original is so underrated as a scary moment. They leap out of the bushes around you and its hard to tell where they are coming from because theyre so quiet... before you know it youre in a qte with a dog mauling your face. Wasnt as scary in the remake though because it felt less claustrophobic.
THANK YOU! That dog maze and the regeneradors were the only scary parts in 4 for me, with the dog maze being the scariest part in resident evil for me aside from 7 & 8 😂 Dog maze was a lot more bearable in the remake though since you have Ashley with you for it lol
Mr. X busting through a wall made me scream so loud! My biggest jumpscare in playing Resident Evil 2 Remake! As scary as the baby is, I found the mannequins in Shadow of Rose much worse! Their creepy movements makes it so uncomfortable and the fact that the player needs to keep an eye on them to stop moving is just pure horror!
I love how we’re all different with fear. I was so happy with the mannequins as I found them so chill in comparison to the baby. I would dread getting to the baby even after 10+ playthroughs
@@supSuicide Fascinating! Yeah, it's cool to see how we all react to things differently, yet even so, I do think the baby is scarier than the mannequins
I’m old enough to have played RE1 and I’ll never forget the dogs jumping through the windows. It was the first time I’d experienced anything like that in a game and it left a mark on me and my underpants. 😂
😂Yeah same here. Literally the only time in RE where I actually paused the game to take a breather once the baby peered out of the corner of the screen
Lickers will always be my biggest scare. I think it was re5 where you are waiting on an elevator and all of a sudden a swarm of lickers come at you from the long hallway, climbing on the ceiling and walls and being forced to unload everything on them.
In the re2 remake theres a part where you open a room with a green key. He cant go inside that room and if you wait 10 minutes inside that room he will break through the wall which is scary asf
didn’t find the baby in village or the regenerators scary at all. but mr. x in RE2r and jack baker/the basement in RE7 were pretty scary to me. the hunters when you return to spencer mansion were a good call. scared me like hell as a kid. the first barracks in CV definitelyare terrifying too
Yeah, RE7 just had so many great scary moments. Going down to the basement in RE7 was definitely freaky... you never knew where the mold were hanging around down there
When you have to return to the basement in RE7 was one of the scariest gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Plus Marguerite’s window jumpscare, plus navigating the ship with no weapons… man that game was scary
I grew up with old school Resident Evil games, and for sure I was really scared back in time. But that segment in RE7 is the only one that still haunts me in my nightmares 😬
12:12 i remember not knowing i could make the armaduras freeze with the blue light and played the whole section without doing it at all. dude i nearly got a heart attack playing that part
😂Funny you bring that up because that literally happened to me as well on my first playthrough 😂I died so many times trying to get that door open at the foot of the stairs to the main floor of the library. Felt like such an idiot when I found out we could just freeze them in place with the lantern
About re2 original, I have some events that look like a huge contenders for the spot: 1- mister x appears for first time/in the cog room and then in the outside, breaking wall 2 times/in the camera. 2- ben's infected or smacked down (most of the people thought that birkin was in there). 3- death of chief irons in claire 2nd scenario (that, for me, is the most brutal and scary shit that I faced playing that game).
Two moments in RE2 remake caught me off guard back to back. When you use the C4 and hear the licker scream, and when you get the goddess emblem and it leaps down to attack.
The biggest jump scare for me was in RE2 original. Once you acquire thee golden cog, Mr. X. bursts through the wall and fight ensues. You defeat it, like usual, then you get out of the room. You feel good, all is great, until you run in the corridor. Boom, he bursts out the wall and starts another fight. It's the only time in my life I threw my controller up in panic.
I remember that scene with the arm in 7. I played it with the lights off. The buildup towards the moment, with a good 10 minutes of tension, followed by the disgusting sound of the arm being removed, and then the glimpse of the legs... I nearly threw up at that point.
I still remember my first scariest moment was when I played original Resident evil 4 for first time and I was only 11! And I faced off against Dr. Salvador, it was so scary for me.
I totally agree about the baby being number one. As an honorable mention I would add Rose's visit to house Beneviento in the Shadow of Rose DLC and the freaky mannequins that keep following you each time you look away from them.
I always thought that the first zombie encounter in the remake was the scariest thing ever until I actually played it all the way through. But that’s probably because my dad mistakenly brought the game home when I was 4, and I was… mentally scarred by it lol. But then when I actually played it all the way through for the first time, I found out it gets even scarier. Because jesus. The first time I encountered a crimson head in it? Nearly crapped myself. AND I WAS A YOUNG ADULT AT THAT POINT! And then Lisa was incredibly disturbing too
I can only imagine seeing this as a 4 year-old! Those crimson heads are so savage... I still don't recall an enemy as aggressive as the crimson heads in RE...
My top3: 3)I'll always remember as a child the moment where the Verdugo starts chasing you in the underground of the castle in RE4 original 2)Nemesis popping out of nowhere in the police station in RE3 original was insanely good 1)Mia appearing in the stairs in the intro of RE7
All awesome selections. I really liked the way verdugo was introduced in the OG RE4. What a way to introduce a boss like that! Also, can't understate how crazy that jumpscare was with Nemesis bursting through the RPD out of nowhere.
Having experienced the baby section in Village for the first time in VR, I can confirm the last choice. After escaping, I had to stay in the elevator for a few minutes to catch my breath.
The scariest moment for me is standing at the top of the stairs to go in the basement of RE1. 30 years later I still think about how I had to make the classic horror movie mistake of going in the basement.
I agree with this list but I can never forget the first time I played resident evil 4 with doctor Salvador chasing me in the entire village. I was only 4 years old when I first played this game, when I saw doctor Salvador with his chainsaw I was crying from terror. When he killed me for the first time the death animation of Leon's made me turn off my ps2 immediately and I promised to myself to never play this game again. But when I grow up a bit I decided to replay the game to see if I am not afraid anymore. I was so happy when I finished the village fight for the first time. And only God knew what I was going to face in the rest of the game. It took me months or even years to finish this goddamn game but the only thing I have to say here is that resident evil 4 became my favorite game of all time and it still is.
Agreed with you. The baby fetus was definitely disturbing. And the second one was the little girl a.k.a Eveline. RE 7 & 8 give us a spooky and nightmare vibes. Other than RE before. To be honest, the Winter's arc are definitely dealing with demon. Not a zombie.
RE2 as a whole scared me soo much as a kid that I couldn't finish it. I used to borrow games from my neighbor until I beat them but I gave that one back to her after an hour. Looking back at it though it really isn't that bad so my vote has to go to the first time you run into the regenerators in RE4. They were creepy as hell and unexpected considering what you normally were facing up until that point.
Yeah, I feel the same way about RE2. I loved it as a kid, but I had to really take my time with it, since I was so young and my tolerance to scary things was just really weak. Returning to it now is more nostalgic than ever and definitely doesn't hold a candle to some of the scares that have been in the franchise since
I could never put myself through the entire baby mission in vr. It’s actually much shorter than I initially thought but it was so freaking horrifying I closed the game like 3 times before I got all the way through it
Honestly jack freaked me out the most in 7. I thought from how he talked he was gonna reenact a scene from deliverance while the whole family had a splash of last house on the left and the dinner scene from Texas chainsaw massacre (1974). The fetus in 8 just had me go it's da baby though best part of the game.
Jack definitely brought some of that persistent enemy goodness from the older games back into the series. Which part of him from RE7 did you find to be the scariest?
I played resident evil 5 when I was like 8 years old at that time it was probably one of the scariest games I had played but after watching UA-camrs play the whole of resident evil 7 I would say re7 was the most scariest
Original RE3 is my personal favorite RE even though I did NOT grow up on it (I actually started with 0). I was a full adult playing original RE3 at the time, and I was *still* unnerved when Nemesis smashed through the window. So I can easily imagine a middle schooler freaking the heck out, lol.
🤣Yeah I never saw anything like that before. Thanks for sharing your perspective! I love hearing about people playing the older games for the first time as an adult. I like the different perspectives on fear and what parts scare people differently
For some reason the knights in RE4 remake that come at you unless you shine a light on them gave me nightmares. Especially in that dark room where you had to ring the bells in correct order while they come to life to get you
I've only played one RE game (RE4RE) and by far the most terrifying moment in that game was encountering the Regenerator for the first time. I was just running around the dark labs, thinking to myself that "surely there's got to be an enemy down here?" Then I found and read through those notes about the test subject being able to regenerate and thinking to myself "Great, that's probably what I'll have to prepare myself for down here". I ran out the door and- WHAT THE HELL?! WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT? WHY'S IT SO LONG? SHOOT IT! NO, ITS JUMPING! IT'S JUMPING! RUN! HE'S WADDLING AFTER ME! RUN! DON'T LOOK BACK! JUST F*CKIN RUN!
For me, nothing beats the baby. I can still remember feeling my heartbeats. And I don't remember any other game scaring me this much. Only with cheap jumpscares. Congrats to RE8
For me, the unscripted times that Nemesis showed up in the OG RE3 were the scariest, as I didn't know when to expect them and was rarely prepared to fight.
I don’t fond myself to be someone who is jumpy or scared. The only one time I actually jumped during an RE game was when Jack opens the door and picks you up. Idk why it was that that made me jump but i was sweating afterward. Couldn’t look at doors the same again.
I agree with number 1 as scariest moment . That whole section of the game was done well. I think a runner up for 1st could be when you first encounter marguerite baker spider form in re7 when she knocks you down the stairs as your going to the alter . That part scared me
@@comicbookguygamecat Right? I'm really looking forward to the RE4 PSVR2 update as well. I hear we are going to get a lot more information about it during Tokyo Game Show
I agree with them all, expect hunters weren’t to scary for me cause i grew up in texas and i found lizards all over my house during like summer which made hunters kinda silly for me
Actually I was more terrified at the mutated baby scene from village than the baker family. Maybe because the sounds of the baby seemed more human like don't know but yeah.
@donjc3641 sorry to hear that. I honestly beat the whole game by always looking at UA-cam. I would watch a walkthrough, then go back to playing up until I got to that part of the video. Not because I didn't get the puzzles but I was sacred it was easier to know what was coming. That's the only way I beat the whole game.
man i remember playing RE3 when i was 8yo with my neighbour who was 10 yo. we were so afraid of nemesis and i still remember this moment when he enters trough the rcpd window. We beat the game in like 2 months and i consider that a life achievement for a 8yo kiddo. That was a long time ago,im almost 26 now :D
😂Definitely took me by surprise as well! I knew something was going to happen, seeing all the available hiding spots littered around the area, but that freaking baby spooked the **** outta me 😂
What in the world was Leon doing at 8:53 ?? It looks like he tried to hold out the knife, this man really tried to do the epic chainsaw parry from re4 remake lmao
The fetus rose ain't very long thata the problem. But what could you do? It would get tedious after awhile. The second time around I knew exactly what to do and it was simple. Just like that beast who attacks after you use the unborn key. Stay in the house. Go up the ladder snipe. Beast comes shoot. Beast runs away. Rinse repeat
I agree. I think a lot of the scares with any game is the first encounter. I just was not expecting something like a screaming, moaning, bloody fetus chasing me around an eerie basement. It's all about that first encounter
One of my earlier memories which i only pinpointed recently was of resident evil 5. Watching my dad play as one of those tentacle monsters goes inside the guys mouth and pops out was so gruesome for me when i was a kid and definitely left a mark for a while lol
I've played RE7 and I can also say that the giant baby from Village was horrifying. But personally the scariest thing to me in Resident Evil is Mr. X in RE2 remake. Just the fact that he's always roaming around in the RPD and trying to find you is horrifying. It always puts you on edge because you never know if he can suddenly come through the same door you need to go through or if he comes popping around the corner.
The whole Beneviento house chapter was just brilliant from start to finish and even more mesmerising in VR. And yes, in terms of scares and also tension the baby is top of the pile for good reason.
I personally think that the start of resident evil 0, being on a running train in the middle of a storm full of undead humans, dogs, a bunch of mutated flesh eating leeches, and a giant mutated Scorpion with very limited resources is a lot scarier than a few mutated gizmos running around trying to ambush you.
The most terrifying parts in all the games of this franchise for me were the sudden jumpscare appearances of Mr. X in the B scenarios of the original RE 2. Like Nemesis in RE3 but happened multiple times and even though the encounters were fixed, you'd be scared of ANY narrow hallways. At all times.
I watched my brother play re3 when I was 5 years old on ps1 and then I took over a few years later. still the scariest moment to me is Nemesis jumping through the window in the police station. or going into a safe room and realising the Nemesis music is still playing which means he's definitely waiting for you outside. that and the Nemesis attack after you're done with the music box puzzle in the Clocktower. god I love the original so much.
NGL, RE7's scariest moment I experienced (I played up to the head in the fridge) was either the insane ambiance chilling me to my spine every time I go to play, or as a single moment, the chainsaw fight, or the car ignition scenes with Jack Baker.
I might as well give a bit of a list, with maybe a touch of context. Quick note, other than OG RE4, I've basically only played the RE Engine games. RE7: Jack busting through the wall when he begins stalking you. Confession: the first half hour is the only part of RE7 that scared me. The rest was a letdown, and Jack ended up disappointing me as "stalker" enemy. RE Village: a toss up between the Baby and any point where I'm running from Lady Dimitrescu. The music helps a lot here, with Dimitrescu sending me running even when I had a literal invincibility cheat active. RE4 OG: entering a room to hear the Regeneradors breathing. That loud, rasping noise sends chills down my spine. I find Regeneradors less scary in the remake cause they're so much quieter. RE2 Remake: pursued by Mr. X. Fun fact, RE2R is such an atmospheric game that I found it scarier with a mod that removed all non-boss enemies. Made Mr. X even scarier. As a whole, I find it to be the scariest game I've ever played (mostly because RE7 stopped being scary to me after the first Zoe phone call). RE3 Remake: sad to say, while I enjoy the game, I can't really pick a scary moment here, simply because the only remotely scary parts were playing as Carlos. Probably the closest I could pick would be the Hunters, like yourself. RE4 Remake: The stumbling Regenerador. While I found them less scary than the OG, and generally didn't find RE4 terribly scary (though a LOT of fun--I beat it more than 15 times in the first 3 weeks I had it), that moment in the unpowered lab section when I turned to look down a hall and saw a Regenerador stumble out of sight made me go "nope!" and look up a guide in terror. This one probably only hit as hard as it did BECAUSE I was such a big fan of the OG.
Excellent list! I especially agree with your thoughts on RE7. I feel like that game's stalker enemies don't hit as hard as what came after it in Mr. X in RE2R and the game wasn't scary once we left the Baker mansion. House Beneviento had all the scares for me in RE Village, basically. Still really enjoy playing RE8. For RE3R, I agree... I feel like Carlos' time in the hospital had the best tension throughout that remake
Both were definitely startling moments, no doubt. For me, the baby encounter took the cake. I knew something was going to happen, but just not quite like that 😂

This definitely isn't one of the *scariest* moments, but definitely one of the *creepiest*. It's one of times in RE7 when you're just walking around the house and you see grandma sitting in her chair in the hallway. When she's out of view, you'll hear her humming, but when you turn back around the corner to look at her, she'll stop humming. So I had the idea to try and catch her in the act of humming. So I go around the corner as usual, but I wait right next to it, so that way I can pop right out as soon as she starts humming. And as soon as I heard the humming I turned around the corner really quick, but she was just gone as if she was never there. That one gave me so many chills

Yeah, that's a heck of a way to start off RE7
RE7 is the scariest in the series, easily. I believe this is due to it's two inspirations. The first inspiration was the true survival horror of the first game, and the second inspiration came from the disempowering indie horror games of the time, and the bigger games they inspired (Outlast and Alien: Isolation seemed to be especially influential). This allowed to the series to go back to its horror roots, while also learning some things from the scariest games of that era.

OG RES 4. Falling into the abandoned prison cells where all the invisable bug monsters are really freaked me out when i was younger!
Yeah, that was a great moment and a good contender for RE4
Oh man I was 14 when I first played that on the GC and that part terrified until I got to the hedge maze full of those infected wolves, then came the regenerators lol.
@@notimeleft1 Yeah, those hedge mazes were a nightmare when I played as a kid 😂
I played the vr version of re4 a few months ago and that section was SO SCARYYYYY
Yeah that was definitely my runner-up for that game
You should check out the episode of Doctor Who called Blink. While the majority of the show is pretty "bleh," there are some episodes that really hit. Blink is arguably the best episode of the series, and it's pretty much a stand-alone (you don't need to watch the series to understand it). If you liked this part of Shadow of Rose, you would love Blink (it's pretty much a straight homage/copy).
@@coryrudy98 Definitely going to check that out!
@@coryrudy98Hey thanks for the heads up about it being standalone, now I can check out what the fuss is about Doctor Who without having to commit to a thousand episodes 😊
That was amazing!!
For me, the scariest moment was in Revelations during the Rachael Foley boss fight. If you don't kill her fast enough she'll hide in the vents and ambush you every time you enter a new room.
For sure! Easily the scariest moment in that game, no doubt. 💯
Never played the game. Didn't like the scan everything feature. Plus the goo monsters looked dumb. I liked 2 though. Raid mode kept me entertained for like 2 weeks
Raid mode was awesome@@Dime_time333
@@funmylife9248 I know I'm asking too much questions cuz this game is really that worthy but what game was more scary re2 og and re3 og and also puzzles were better in which one ( soundtracks too)
@@kratos8529 Man, that's a tough one. I also liked the puzzles in 2 more
I would say the RE8 DLC with the mannequins following you is prime scary moment in any resident evil game we’ve had in 20 years
That's a good one! Probably my favorite moment in the DLC
I think the baby was scarier
Walking backwards and seeing a mannequin hand show up at the corner of the screen made me pee a little.
100%
@@rarescevei8268Oh, it is, but the Mia dolls is still up near the top in scariest moments in RE. Weeping angel mechanics have gotten popular lately, but that's because they are really effective when done right. Even perhaps the least scary "horror" game of all time, FNaF: Security Breach, managed once section of actual fear by using weeping angel mechanics.
I am just finally now playing RE8. I like how I was initially disappointed that it wasn't as scary as 7 and then BAM, literally the scariest moment in the franchise right in my face.
Right? I feel the same way
i’ve been playing this franchise for years and i’d have to say the baby in re8 was definitely the scariest moment of all because it got me even as an adult. when i was a kid, it was always the dogs that scared the absolute shit out of me. i played re4 over a hundred times as a child when i finally got over the fear, but every time i played the dog maze was the worst part in the game 😂 sorry for the long comment
@@josephkrajicek7184 Yeah, that hedge maze in the castle was definitely a solid scare in RE4. That place masterfully built up tension
I never played RE7 because I want to experience it in VR. Still waiting for the PC VR version…
@@tonyfear707 Yeah RE7 in VR is fantastic. That said, if you are willing to mod the game for PC, the VR support in that game works just fine
The first crimson head encounter in REmake is definitely the scariest in my book
Yeah, I was debating that or Lisa Trevor for the remake.
@@funmylife9248 what about the zombie doctor in code Veronica especially when there are vibrations going on when you open the door
I don't normally get scared for games, but the regenerator creeped me out. Playing RE4 for the first time was one of the best experiences I had.
In the RE: 2 Remake the scariest part for me was in the sewers. That long corridor with the red light that leads you to the King and Queen plug. The Adult G's lurking through the water with the ominous red light was definitely the most nerve wracking part for me.
Literally at that part right now
Yeah, that part always gets me during the sewers
For me, the scariest moment in RE2 was the first appearance of Mr X, but not just because he's so menacing. As a veteran player, I was pleased with how close the game seemed to try to stick to the original (with a few layout changes). But in the original, Mr X only came after you in scenario B. Seeing him suddenly toss the chopper aside in my first playthrough, which was also on hardcore, actually took me a second to register who it was and the trouble I was in. The addition of his modern ai wandering the halls and the ability to hear his footsteps regularly was terrifying.
Absolutely. I loved Mr. X in both versions, but for me, the remake really nailed down his presence as a true threat
I played RE Village on the PSVR 2
And the experience is unmatchable
Worth every penny
It's unbelievable
Im getting one this christmas but got to use it for a week to make sure my room was big enough
I ended just before house beneviento
Help...
How could you😭😭 i shat myself playing with spatial sound i think i’d die if i tried it in VR
Well said and I agree with that, although the fetus for me was scarier than the regenerators on my first playthrough.
They honestly just became more of a nuisance, but that's just me
@@funmylife9248 right there with you. I think I also had to knife one to death on my first playthrough.
Completely agree. I definitely think RE7 is the scariest game in the franchise
THANK YOU! That dog maze and the regeneradors were the only scary parts in 4 for me, with the dog maze being the scariest part in resident evil for me aside from 7 & 8 😂
Dog maze was a lot more bearable in the remake though since you have Ashley with you for it lol
Yeah, that Mr. X jumpscare is legendary! Also really like the mannequins in Shadow of Rose.
Agreed. I thought there could not be anything worse than House Benviento , then they made Shadow of Rose.
Oh my God I hate Mr. X, you would just be minding your business and he just comes out of nowhere.
I’m old enough to have played RE1 and I’ll never forget the dogs jumping through the windows. It was the first time I’d experienced anything like that in a game and it left a mark on me and my underpants. 😂
Yeah that was a startling moment for sure!
Great video. Watched the entire thing
Glad you enjoyed it!
The baby literally made me scream for the first time since I was a little kid. One of the only times I’ve cried from fear too
😂Yeah same here.
Yeah, that's a good one
OMG I hate Lickers. Those things scare the crap out of me.
Going down to the basement in RE7 was definitely freaky... you never knew where the mold were hanging around down there
Agree with the regens but the baby is definitely scary for the first time you play through it more so if is a young one
@@FrxstHD 💯
When you have to return to the basement in RE7 was one of the scariest gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Plus Marguerite’s window jumpscare, plus navigating the ship with no weapons… man that game was scary
@@reykaisertv Absolutely. RE7 for me was the scariest RE game
About re2 original, I have some events that look like a huge contenders for the spot:
1- mister x appears for first time/in the cog room and then in the outside, breaking wall 2 times/in the camera.
2- ben's infected or smacked down (most of the people thought that birkin was in there).
3- death of chief irons in claire 2nd scenario (that, for me, is the most brutal and scary shit that I faced playing that game).
RE2 1998 when the arms bust through the wooden boards really scared me back in the day. I remember taking a break after that.
😂Yeah that's another really good one
Lmao same for me, I was searching it in the comments so good job friend !
Those dogs in OG RE1 still get me all these years later lmao
It got me real good when playing the remake, especially when they don't appear the first time going through the hallway 😂
@@funmylife9248 That too lmao
the first jack chase was so scary, i couldn’t play past that section for half a decade lmao
🤣 Yeah that was definitely a memorable moment. And it happens SO EARLY into the game, too!
Two moments in RE2 remake caught me off guard back to back. When you use the C4 and hear the licker scream, and when you get the goddess emblem and it leaps down to attack.
YES! That freaking attic-like room. Gets me every time I go through there 😂
The biggest jump scare for me was in RE2 original.
Yeah those are some great moments for the OG RE2. Those B scenarios were epic
Definitely one of the best scares of that game! I was not expecting that enemy, along with all the other villagers all at once 😂
House Beneviento was extremely well crafted and one of my favorite horror experiences of recent memory. The buildup throughout was perfect.
Absolutely. It really is one of my favorite moments throughout the entire series
I totally agree about the baby being number one. As an honorable mention I would add Rose's visit to house Beneviento in the Shadow of Rose DLC and the freaky mannequins that keep following you each time you look away from them.
Absolutely. The mannequins are the easy runner-up to the baby
For revelations it was that fucking sea captains wail for me. I was terrified before i even began the battle. "Mayday...maydaaay"
Yeah me too. Sad and scary when I hear the chainsaw thing with: "I need help", "The emergency call... NUMBERH..."
@@Thigannos94 Never been as apprehensive to open a door before haha
That was my runner-up for Revelations 💯
My top3:
3)I'll always remember as a child the moment where the Verdugo starts chasing you in the underground of the castle in RE4 original
2)Nemesis popping out of nowhere in the police station in RE3 original was insanely good
1)Mia appearing in the stairs in the intro of RE7
All awesome selections. I really liked the way verdugo was introduced in the OG RE4. What a way to introduce a boss like that! Also, can't understate how crazy that jumpscare was with Nemesis bursting through the RPD out of nowhere.
"Experiencing this in VR is absolutely a love letter to your adrenal glands". This was Gold. You earned a sub.
That's an incredible story! I can't imagine playing this as a four year-old. Those must be some very strong memories
Returning to it now is more nostalgic than ever and definitely doesn't hold a candle to some of the scares that have been in the franchise since
I feel that the ambient noise in the sewers in Dead Aim deserves a shoutout, as do its blind giant boss and sleeping zombies (to a lesser degree)
I could never put myself through the entire baby mission in vr. It’s actually much shorter than I initially thought but it was so freaking horrifying I closed the game like 3 times before I got all the way through it
Yeah, definitely the most insane moment in the franchise right there
To me, the introduction of the first zombie in the original RE still gives me the creeps!
Yeah, that's when the game truly began
The baby in RE8 was the scariest ever. Lol
The scariest moment for me is whenever there is bad voice acting.
Re 4 remake's Krauser's voice acting is unforgivable
@@Chadagon47I liked it honestly. Not NEARLY as good as before but I still liked his performance
As long as I have a gun, nothing to be scared of.
I still remember RE3 nemesis jumping out of the window at the station to this day… It’s been 23 years since then man…
Honestly still find that to be the biggest jump scare in the series yet
I just love how they managed to make house Beneviento even more scary in the DLC
The baby was terrifying but the moving mannequins in the DLC, Shadows of Rose, scared me way more than the baby
Yeah, that was honestly the runner up for me for RE8. House Beneviento definitely is host to the scares for that game
For some reason the knights in RE4 remake that come at you unless you shine a light on them gave me nightmares. Especially in that dark room where you had to ring the bells in correct order while they come to life to get you
They definitely made the armaduras much freakier in the remake, that's for sure
I've only played one RE game (RE4RE) and by far the most terrifying moment in that game was encountering the Regenerator for the first time.
I was just running around the dark labs, thinking to myself that "surely there's got to be an enemy down here?"
Then I found and read through those notes about the test subject being able to regenerate and thinking to myself "Great, that's probably what I'll have to prepare myself for down here". I ran out the door and-
WHAT THE HELL?! WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT? WHY'S IT SO LONG? SHOOT IT! NO, ITS JUMPING! IT'S JUMPING! RUN! HE'S WADDLING AFTER ME! RUN! DON'T LOOK BACK! JUST F*CKIN RUN!
🤣Yeah definitely an epic moment. And then just knowing that it's still out there in the labs while you have to reroute the electricity...
For me, nothing beats the baby. I can still remember feeling my heartbeats. And I don't remember any other game scaring me this much. Only with cheap jumpscares. Congrats to RE8
Heck yeah! The baby deserved this spot, for sure 💯
Got to mention ,RE4R verdugo encounter literally gives me the biggest adrenaline rush ever in any survival horror game.
It’s good to see my 2 favourite resident evil games at the top of the list for their amazing collection of terrifying moments
I remember being scared in re8 in the factory section fighting the cyborgs “soldat”
Yeah, that was definitely an atmospheric section
For me, the unscripted times that Nemesis showed up in the OG RE3 were the scariest, as I didn't know when to expect them and was rarely prepared to fight.
Yeah those nemesis encounters were crazy in the OG
Even playing Resident Evil 3 for the first time in 2023, the nemesis jumpscare really got me haha
😂Gets me every time
I don’t fond myself to be someone who is jumpy or scared. The only one time I actually jumped during an RE game was when Jack opens the door and picks you up. Idk why it was that that made me jump but i was sweating afterward. Couldn’t look at doors the same again.
Yeah, that was just a super startling moment. Did NOT expect that one at all
I agree with number 1 as scariest moment . That whole section of the game was done well. I think a runner up for 1st could be when you first encounter marguerite baker spider form in re7 when she knocks you down the stairs as your going to the alter . That part scared me
Yeah, that opener with Marguerite was intense. Did NOT see that one coming
The very first zombie fmv in re1 left a mark on me back in 96
That fmv was definitely the image of the series in the 90s

He was ahead of his time! 🤣
Only Mr X makes my soul go away from my body 😞
Even though I've played RE8 multiple times, house beneviento still gives me chills, that baby monster is absolutely terrifying
Exactly. It's just a messed up sequence, no matter how you look at it 😂
The fetus rose ain't very long thata the problem.
😂I bet it did! I couldn't imagine seeing something like that at a very young age
The train didn't do it for me, but it was admittedly my favorite part of that game
The original R.E. 2 when the big alligator chases you, and you had to fight it me every time😂
I watched my brother play re3 when I was 5 years old on ps1 and then I took over a few years later. still the scariest moment to me is Nemesis jumping through the window in the police station. or going into a safe room and realising the Nemesis music is still playing which means he's definitely waiting for you outside. that and the Nemesis attack after you're done with the music box puzzle in the Clocktower. god I love the original so much.
Heck yeah, the OG RE3 is still one of my favorite RE games. So many spooky and intense moments in that game
The scariest moment in RE5 for me were when the reapers came out of nowhere. I turned off my PS3 and said “Nope, not tonight”
😂Man, anything with the word "reaper" makes me think of the reaper leviathans in Subnautica 👀
In resident evil 4 the fridge jumps are was really scary
Those alligators were not the scariest in RE5. That goes to those chainsaw infected
2:37 the leech man in a corridor
Finally! The regeneradors always gave me the creeps but I feel like they barely get mentioned
its debatable what i thought was scarier; seeing Mr. X for the first time in the RE 2 remake, or the baby monster from RE 8
Both were definitely startling moments, no doubt. For me, the baby encounter took the cake. I knew something was going to happen, but just not quite like that 😂
@@funmylife9248 what about the first appearance of licker in resident evil 2 og, especially when it's seen crawling through the window
@@kratos8529 It's a good one, although I think there are scarier moments in the game personally. The scariest licker encounter for me was in the interrogation room
@@funmylife9248 respect your opinion but when we see him first time we had no idea what the hell was it ( atleast for non movie watchers) cuz later we can kill them easily with good weapons
I went to the same school at the same time as Mr X ! I never thought he would turn out like this . I just remember a lad that was a bit quiet and kept himself to himself
16:40 Putting on putting on a v r headset and playing RE7 was a game changer in horror games
It absolutely was. My first experience with RE7 was playing it in VR and loved every moment of it
I played this in VR (PSVR2) 19:29 was scary AF in VR! In my opinion it’s way more scary in VR…I know everyone can’t afford a VR or have access to a VR but if you do get a chance to play resident evil 4 or 8 in VR do it!
Couldn't agree more! VR is my preferred way to experience these games. I'm really hoping Capcom will continue to make VR modes for their next RE games.
