Igneous is even better now after the health changes take effect. It can still 2h1b all resilence guardians with precision instrument. It just seperated itself from every other 120 by a mile now. Sturm had advantages over it before with it's monster stats but with precision instrument it is now the only 120 worth running. And if you fight a a PI Ingeious with a diffrent 120 you are at a massive disadvantage. I feel like they may nerf PI on Igneous though because it's makes the health changes irrelevant.

I have been saying this. The seasonal content since shadowkeep has been screaming "keep them back for a few months than try to get their attention with something else" the thing people like these content creators are missing is destiny is a whole different game than say world of warfcraft or diablo. You can't put the content in the same standards. Honestly destiny would've been better without all this weekly bs with seasons. I haven't been engaged with a season since the first batch in shadowkeep.

the game had and has potential, but it wants to restart the brand. Ideally, it should be done on UE5, servers for PvP, and a hardcore mod or Esport league can easily be created....I absolutely do not understand how, with such a large study, I will not use the potential of the game....

For me the biggest issue is the formulaic content they reduced everything to. There is never the feeling of something new or truly fresh in the game. Everything they do you have already seen or done 1000 times.

    • @otisdriftwood7094
      @otisdriftwood7094 3 місяці тому +2

All games are like that now, COD is just the same thing reskinned every year. I don't think any pvp game is going to be truly fresh or groundbreaking anymore because we have seen it all before. What can any game developer do to make any pvp fps shooters ground breaking at this point? It's the same thing repackaged by different companies. Destiny pvp was different than most fps pvp games with the abilites and supers. Cod tried to change things up with Infinite warfare and it was a disaster so they stopped trying to innovate and just stuck to the formula.

The player count has been dwindling over time, and I’ve always wondered “what are the destiny content creators gonna do?” The views on destiny videos are going down, so they’re covering other stuff, but I wonder if the transition will be successful or not. D2 used to stay in the top 10 on steam, and many players almost exclusively played it and watched content related to it. It seems those days are over. I’ve played maybe 50 hours in the last year, but like 500 the year before. Not because it’s worse, but because I got tired of it. PvP main btw.

@@Mattblaze1477 It'll all depend on TFS performance. If TFS does well, then people will still leave destiny but will probably keep an eye on further releases, which means Bungie would still have a chance to win people back. If TFS does poorly, then it's over as building back the trust from the community after failing on such a great expansion would be a nigh impossible task.
Personally, I'm more excited for what comes after TFS, as I do believe this "Light and Dark saga" has shackled the writing and storytelling too much due to greed from the higher ups. It has dragged on for more than it needs to. After TFS, bungie will have a new clean slate to expand on things in the story that were never expanded upon, and in much better ways. Of course, this is going to depend on if Bungie actually capatilizes on that potential and honestly, I'm not too hopeful. Nonetheless, I will keep an eye like everyone else after TFS ends

It is literally a scam, and considering the fact that Bungie is a well known corporation that exploits mental instability to gain profits proven by their million dollars psychologists that they hired to take advantage on the essence of FOMO, then tried to balance it off by acting like they care about mental health while at the same time banking on that ESG scores, then you can see how people would say that Lightfall is a literal scam 🤷🏻‍♂️ bad bussiness practices embodied as a corporation.

One of the hardest, veiniest, girthiest pills to swallow is that pvp is simply harder in most cases than pve. Weapons matter more in most cases. Abilities matter more. Stats matter more. Positioning and game sense matter more in low level pvp than in mid to high tier pve. Only in gms, raids, dungeons do these things matter. Some people may simply not care enough to get better at the game unless there’s something to motivate them to do so

    • @legolokicars5820
      @legolokicars5820 3 місяці тому +1

yep. i've played this game a lot and have never been flawless despite maining PVP for multiple seasons. i've done solo dungeons though. i've done master raids (ok FINE it was RoN but it still was a master raid). never been flawless.

    • @Wormy_fren
      @Wormy_fren 3 місяці тому +5

I've been flawless once? Maybe twice can't exactly remember. And honestly the rewards I got from it were so underwhelming I just haven't touched any pvp mode aside from iron banner because it's genuinely fun (No not boring control I'm talking Fortress and eruption those are fun as hell)
Like the only thing I moderately cared about getting was the trials memento and the ascendant shard. But I'd rather do a GM for the ascendant shard the trails emblem is but ugly on way too many weapons so I'm never touching it again. I dunno the rewards for pvp are so underwhelming compared to pve when you notice how much fun pve usually is (grandmasters are a snore fest and bore me half to death when I play through them)
That and it's not as frustrating when you get destroyed in pve compared to pvp. When you get destroyed in pvp you just feel like shit, you've prepared and built everything just for seemingly everyone to take turns on you as they run right through whatever planning you had in mind and now your teammates are berrating you and you just... Don't feel joy in winning because you then realize you'll need to do that hellish experience six more times and win just to get some mediocre loot in a shit game mode with a shit ruleset and a soul draining atmosphere.
Meanwhile in pve, you get railed by a raider? Annoying but you can get right back up and mow down dozens of the bastards and enjoy watching your build simply tear through your enemies swiftly. It's fun it's exhilarating it makes me want to get better. How anyone can stomach destiny's pvp is beyond me. It just seems so dull and terrible. Then again some people think that the new modern warfare games and their multiplayer modes are fun when they're at best slop with absurdly low time to kill rates. (Like .4 ish? Can't remember how fast I get bodied in that game it just feels like shit.)

The problem is the seasonal content was designed to be temporary and it takes way too much manpower that everything else falls because of it. There hasn't been a single story beat that excited me since witch queen and it feels like all the seasonal content is just a fancy strike playlist. Crucible feels abandoned and gambit is abandoned. On top of that, Only one specific subclass per class is getting a super next season? Huh? I don't know what they were thinking leaving behind 6/9 of players and we've needed new enemy AI since the game was released. It feels like one faction with three 1/2 different skins. Melee fodder runs at you, weak gun stand in open shooting, big guy with gun hold position and shoots, suicide fodder rushes you. There's no strategic thinking at all. I'm another casual player (or was), and I agree with you. I was logging on, after they stopped upping the light levels, took away all the pinnacles, and even if they hadn't they had this delta where you would always be capped at an under leveled position. I had no more goals, and no incentive to do anything at a higher difficulty because all it caused was frustration. Now, I know the reaction of a lot of trolls will be "git gud," and I agree, except for the fact that I'm never given a reason why it's worth it to keep going through the frustration. Idk, just a rant from a casual who thinks they made a huge mistake with the difficulty level that caused a HUGE chunk of us to just leave. Like a few other people said, the lack of progression means people aren't going to stick with the game. Yes, there is certainly a niche for the type of gameplay that Destiny 2 is currently offering, but I think business-wise, they just callously disregarded the majority of their playerbase, and now we're all gone. This is all not even mentioning how god-awful their onboarding process is. I've seen so many people start Destiny 2, have loads of fun for a couple of months because the gunplay is fantastic, but I've also seen tons of people start and stop playing after 2 hours because they have no clue what they should be doing. Heck, even when they had a better onbaording tutorial (the red war bit), I still ended up having to look stuff up online constantly because nothing was ever defined and the quests say nothing that makes any sense. Like...that mint for the cats? who the heck would have any idea what to do with that or why it shows up in your quest list unless you look it up or someone tells you. There's tons of really ambiguous stuff in this game.

It seems like there's just enough content to get a lot of activity for a few weeks, then all the dedicated players have all the loot, milestones, and quests completed so there's nothing else to play the game for.
Bungee needs to make at least one activity that is worth playing for something besides loot. The only reason most players play Trials, GMs, Raids, Iron Banner etc. Is for the loot. Let's see some real time trial stuff like that one lightfall mission with the spinning death wall, or some modifiers that change daily rather than weekly or SOMETHING other than RNG loot at the end of a miserable tunnel that's worth booting the game for cause it won't be the story that keeps players around. It's the content.

I think there are diminishing returns in innovating destiny 2 at this point. The game is coming up on 7 years old at this point. We need innovation of the core experience. They need to make patrol areas feel more alive with and random. Get rid of the travel areas that are essentially just loading zones. We should be actually protecting civilians in base defense against random waves of enemies with actual challenging bosses. With the ability to get upgrades for the base and character. Get rid of the loading zone travel areas make each world one big area. Give us an endless procedurally generated mode where we can trigger bosses. Give us an extraction mode with optional pvp. Give us patrol zone with 12 people and have actual live events with raid bosses. I think these would all make the game better but I don’t think they could do it with current hardware.

After 4K hours I just logged in one day and just didn’t care anymore. I think what really started the apathy for the game for me was the mod system changes. I love crafting builds long Diablo player, long The Division player. I’ve always felt like the build crafting was extremely bland even when we had charged with light, elemental wells, and warming cells; however, the system was deep enough to keep me playing trying to find the perfect solar arms for a stasis build all about shattering because it would proc explosive Wellmaker for an example. Now the builds are just soooo boring, to achieve the power level of what builds can do today took a little more thought and grinding for pieces to make it happen and if felt way more satisfying to pull it off.

The only future is Destiny 3 , and letting you carry some things or reward players from destiny 2 , like Path of exile is doing PO2 and all the cosmetics are transitioning to the new game.
The game needs to be built to last and for content not to be DCV , imagine as a new players doing all the content they made from 10 years ago , destiny would have a massive backlog of content to do the story alone would be on par with FF14 .
And they need to be honest with us , people backed D1 and D2 and believed in the franchise and bungie let us down in various ways , I hope they can pull out a good release , but probably they wont the fact they didn't gave us a timeline of what D2 will be is telling.
And no I wont be buying TFS 100€ pack like I did in every expansion and I dont intend to play their new games because in my view the way they treated D2 community burnned the bridge for me .

Destiny just needs to switch to a full on progression model. You need to start at lv1, and level up to level 40, and then you can get to light level 2100 when Final Shape comes out. Organize all of the story/seasonal, dungeon, and expansion content in a neat chronological line, and give that gear a permanent place in the progression cycle. This is how they did it in D1 as well.

I feel like these two are disconnected from the pve or casual player base. A lot of what they say shows they primarily play pvp and are elitists. PvP like trials is incredibly punishing and tiring. It can take hours or a whole day to finally get the luck to go flawless. A raid takes only a few hours at the longest and the master day one raids are an optional achievement, not something you need to do. Also trials is the same over and over for a weekend. No different encounters, just the same map, getting punished by whatever cheesy or annoying meta you didn’t know was a thing. Pve content requires patience, builds, communication, and understanding to beat hard encounters. PvP has none of that besides communication if you have other people willing to do that with you. And the players you go against can be easy or so hard match to match, so it is more good luck than anything for a casual player to get a flawless run.

But if that's what they're going to do, then they're going to need to market the future HEAVILY after TFS launches. And this is the strategy they've been using for seasons, and people have said how much they don't like the "day of" marketing and want more news about the future.

I think the conversation around Lightfall is a bit skewed when it comes to player numbers cause Lightfall did not sell or bring in players because of marketing. It got tons of people because of Witch Queen, that general content year and the very strong last season, Season of the Seraph. Marketing was a part of it, due to the false advertising we got with verticality and grapple, but large part of WHY it sold so well is def the year of Witch Queen.
For raids and replayability I think origin traits is a good start. We got tons of weapons with the same perks and element, but only certain dungeons and raids drop a specific Origin Trait which means you HAVE to go do the raid to get that specific trait.
PvP wise, you need to have a true ranked playlist with end of season cosmetic rewards like ship, sparrow, ghost and emblem. WoW does this with titles for the top % of PvP and Mythic+ right now so there is an incentive for good players to play comp and for new aspiring players to push for. League does this with only top X amount of players being Challenger. You could do title through seals as well with titles matching the current season and/or episode. You could even decouple seasons from expansion tiers like Blizzard does in WoW.
The latest TWID brings hope in temrs of PvP for me and I will play way more Trials and Comp with the changes than I am now. I hope more people look at it and thinks the same

I don't mind seasonal stuff but it would be nice if they did it in 2 parts, and double the size of each seasonal content. 7 or 10 weeks however long it is now at the beginning of the season, and then again for those last 7 or 10 weeks. Then have down time in between for grinding other things. Also the length of each weekly seasonal thing is so short, some take 15min then you're done, like how is that satisfying to hop on every week to do?
Gambit should have multiple rotating modes, 1 being normal, add champions and more stages to make it feel like a mini dungeon you're competing for. Each week having better rotating loot that is meaningful maybe even its own challenges to get maybe an exotic weapon or armor that's worth grinding for, then upgrading. Add new maps, even from the seasonal maps, like deep or defiance.
Add a horde mode to gambit. Maybe even with some new unique enemies, on a large scale map, with 4 or 6 players, limited revives kinda like the coil. Have defenses, ect.
Add a tier list to trials of Osiris, you must have your competing ranked and so many trials cards filled, maybe not flawless but still, where it's back to back games and you see your team progress. Thus taking you to a new section of the lighthouse with different rewards for winning the games.
Add new weapon types, new grenades, make class items worth while by having abilities like D1, things that feel unique and make old content obsolete or even repayable to aquire.
Add a daily mission to get materials on different planets like lost sectors but to get maybe super flashy shaders or ornaments.
Revisit old unused guns and see if they need some tlc.

Judging by the recent success of baldur's gate 3 and helldivers 2, the best way for destiny ro take a step forward is to actually allow for the direction of the story to be lead by the community. That isn't to say that they should let us make the overarching decisions in the story, but (like in helldivers) allow for succeeding or failing community events that actually affect and create ripples in the narrative that turn into waves later on. Especially with tfs now being in direct release competition with shadow of the erdtree, they need to come out swinging with actual delivery on what we the community have been asking for for years and a genuine change in how they keep us involved and invested. I myself have much more interest in helldivers 2 now simply because of how that community failed the automaton event. I feel like playing that game and giving effort there because I know I can actually make a difference in how the game unfolds. In short, destiny has been a masterclass of how much can a game stay effectively the same while charging full game prices for simple sandbox changes and it just doesn't fool anyone anymore.

You want raids and dungeons to stay interesting? Make more things related to crafting, put more emphasis on what you can do with spoils of conquest as a resource. Idk this entire loot system feels clunky and the way they just keep removing and adding systems and things makes the game feel like a ship of theseus. Instead of making smart uses for all of these things it ia just jamming a bunch of crap into the game, then removing it. Sunsetting locations and old story means I cant go back or have newer people come in, and buying shit like the seasonal content feels pointless as it is just ephemeral. That doesnt feel good tbh

I've had this idea for the last year for a new game mode. We saw something kind of like it in Season of the Deep but also not quite.
The idea is basically taking Zombies from CoD but making it more Destiny like. Here's the full idea.
Team of 3 loads into the activity. They're stripped of their gear but keeps their subclass abilities and given white tier guns. Start off against low rank and file enemies, get engrams that after a round you are able to decode them in a screen that comes up. Keep what you want, toss into a pile for your teammates to choose what they want (armor changes to the armor type for each class once you choose it. Throughout the time you unlock new rooms you can go into and expand outwards what/where you can go and find some helpful items and power-ups and such.
Gear also ranks up over time. So you'll get white gear at the star, then green, blue, purple and if you're going for the harder difficulties, you can get exotics. Enemies will also go up in light level during this and can have points where you get transported into a boss room then transported back to the main location when the boss is beaten.
Now this here is an idea from Borderlands 3. You can throw loot you want to keep (even if you lose) into a chest that then transmats out after you put stuff in it. That stuff you get to keep. So get an exotic armor piece with a roll you want? Can keep it to see if it helps you get to the end and put it in a chest to keep afterwards, or you can throw it in one of the transmat chests immediately when you see one if you don't trust your chances of actually completing the run.
The NPCs I would want for this would be Eido, Drifter and Spider. Eido wants to watch some research happen on Guardians and other races/species in the galaxy, Drifter is supplying the baddies, and Spider is supplying the gear drops of his overstock (though Drifter may have just stolen some crates of gear) and also broadcasting these to make money off those in the galaxy willing to watch, making him compete with Shaxx in Guardian Based Combat Television.

Factions need to come for end game content not just grandmasters nightfalls or trials cause some people aren’t for that. This’ll allow for people to come back to something they loved in the starting days of destiny. Plus it’ll allow them to connect with a group instead of just the player base.

Witch Queen set up the high numbers for Lightfall, people got hyped based on having such a good WQ experience and expected a similar level of story quality.
I think they need to streamline or rationalise the cost of the game, all the old content that is separated, when a new player keeps getting paywalled (i remember i could play the playlist for a specific strike but not the weekly nightfall because it was part of a content package i didn’t own at the time yet it was the thing i was being told to do as part of a quest ie do a nightfall and couldn’t that week) it’s very bitty and not new player friendly in that way.
Maybe they could just group more previous content together, just a few packages and content over for eg 2 years old could be just free. i get they need to sell the content, it just needs to be more comprehensible and less fractured.
they really did well with the new in game matchmaking system, that sort of innovation to quality of life can make a huge difference to accessing or overcoming what can be quite a big step into more complex or high end content. so props to the dev team for the work on that i think that sort of qol addition, given the age of the game, you notice where it has fallen behind other games just because of how long it has been around, i think they can get a lot of mileage out of work on better menus and UI etc overall to help new players make sense of the game.

Unfortunately the discourse in the community since LF has created a very toxic veteran player base which has created a very crappy environment for new lights to get into the game because we have gatekeeped the endgame. Also the story absolutely matters and they need to figure out a better way to hook everyone that missed the Red War and Forsaken.

Still watching so forgive me if this is answered in the video. Random thought about new systems here from someone who's never played much pvp in Destiny (despite how much pvp D2 content I enjoy), but learned a lot about a different game playing on an open world pvp server. Do you guys think it would be fun and interesting to have an optional open world pvp mode, or is a game like Destiny just not really set up for success with that? Like, one of the reasons I left that pvp server was because of guilds that would roll up with forty people in a group and just obliterate everyone, and the community answer was "go get forty people yourself and stop complaining or get off the server." But before that, when it was a self-balancing community and there was more cooperation among guilds, it was really fun. If there's a way to account for and minimize the kind of imbalance that can lead to toxicity, would it be fun? Or is that just a terrible idea that would kill the community?

I think Bungie need to do expansions every two years and make them ultra cinematic and massive and brand new planets etc. and do episodes and dungeons inbetween. Also for new players, I think after they beat the missions to get you started you should get some (if not all) ritual weapons for free. You’d get a great hc like malediction and a scout like night watch etc then you’d have null composure and felwintsrs and then ascendancy rocket launcher etc etc. then it should push you into strikes/crucible and then dungeoons and raids etc

For me, I would say ways to get your players to stick around and new players to enjoy the game more is this. Lower the cost of entry for new players as ~$300-~$500 is far too high a price, revert a lot of the nerfs they have done to PvE especially the ones that were because of PvP (looking at you Weavewalk, Threaded Specter, Young Ahakmara's Spine), lower cooldowns in PvE by a lot as well as buff weapons to actually do good damage.
I know this is mainly towards PvE, but PvE is a big part of the game (literally considering the amount of content) and I could care less if Crucible ends up becoming like Conclave in Warframe. I feel there should not be a meta, there should not be extreme restrictions to builds, and overall the game should just let people have fun with what they enjoy.
One last thing, I actually like Lightfall as a whole. The seasons have been getting worse overtime in my opinion, but the main dlc was a lot of fun to me and the Legend Campaign was far more balanced than Witchqueen was.

    Three things:
    1. The Night Watch roll you now get from the New Light campaign is no longer Overflow/EP.
    2. It's very gratifying to hear someone finally say "Bungie really shot themselves in the foot by constantly advertising TFS as the end of a saga without really giving us anything to look forward to post-TFS," when I've been saying that since pre-layoffs.
    3. I imagine new players are more likely to play the most recent campaign and THEN go back and play the pre-existing campaigns (main reason is the most recent is usually the one that's the freshest in their mind/the most pushed outside of the community to get them to play).

Most of us are looking at story telling with the activities revolving around that. Lightfall IS the content. It’s not just the campaign. When the other shit is stale, the game will fall off hard when the new norm sucks.

  • @Jes9119
    @Jes9119 3 місяці тому

I have a suggestion for the whole new light experience situation and the "refreshing" of content. Its gonna be a massive undertaking but unvault everything in the DVC, import everything from D1 into D2 that hasnt already been moved and combine the two games into one giant experience and lastly, bring back every previous seasons activities in their entirety and keep them out in perpetuity.
Another QoL thing they could do is change the way collections works and allow for players to pull any weapon, regardless of if it was random or not. They already have curated rolls as random drops, rolls that are designed by them to be the default so make that be the one that gets pulled. Same goes for armor, you can already buy static armor rolls, make those the default and allow anyone to pull a piece of armor they have collected in the past, regardless of it being "originally" a random roll.
    Or
Overhaul the entire weapon system to be like Warframes. Every weapon has set stats and those can be changed with various mods which allows for infinite customization. Bungie can even use the weapon crafting menu to allow us to modify our own weapons and make it to where you only need ONE copy of the weapon. This goes back to my point about the static pulls from collections. They could even have it to where you can pull a perkless, unleveled weapon from collections and take it to the crafting bench to modify it with whatever perks you want on it and never have a need for random rolled items ever again and to change the perks on it resets its level back to zero(exactly like putting a polarity on a Warframe item) because as you admitted and as people have been pointing out for years, they arent having fun doing the activities. Theyre doing it for the random rolls on items.
All of these things are the LEAST they could do if they're abandoning the game after this year and leaving nothing for the future. This will leave the game in a fully complete state just like D1 is.
To add to my very first point, change the new player experience to give them an option after creating their character if they want to begin from the very beginning in the D1 intro we got on D1Y1 or the option to start from the D2 intro and give these players "rememberance" type quests to go back and experience the D1 option after they finish the full D2 campaign which would start at the Red War and stop at Beyond Light or until they're fully current whichever flows better. Either way this is going to add a ton of content and playtime for newer players so they will effectively never run out of stuff to do or will always be doing something.
And for the whole, "nothing is explained to new players/there are no tutorials for every system in the game." There are. They go though with on screen pop ups that don't go away until you comply with them or you turn them off in the settings(something new players won't know about) so the game literally forces you to do something one time at the minimum. That whole, "what should I invest in/what is good" is entirely subjective to every individual and if a new player asks that they're going to be overwhelmed with thousands of different replies by older players who have already found something g that works for them and are going to do one of two things, 1) quit due to the amount of options and conflicting opinions or 2) listen to someone and follow them until they become more experienced and find their own thing that does it for them. This is exactly why I said what I said in my section about starting from the very beginning(intro to D1) because back then we didn't have older players to guide us along the way or telling us what was the "meta." We as older players or even D1Y1 and open beta(myself included) players, forged our own way through the game and too many influencers tend to forget that. It is extremely important from the very beginning to understand that the "meta" and "godrolls" mean something different to everyone and the only way to learn that is to NOT have someone outright tell you since just because they understand why does not mean a new player will.
As for the whole, "the game literally doesn't tell you to get the artifact" it doesn't have to because the game forces you to do the first mission of the new season(whether you want to or not) and gives it to you as a reward. So that person who claimed to have been playing for 8mths and hasn't gotten it was lying. Anyone who has been playing since Beyond Light will know this because that's when they started forcing you do get it that early in the season because it's that important.

Adept PvP loot should be better in PvP than in PVE. And Adept PVE loot should be better in PVE than PvP. Making adept do better in opposite areas is toxic and forcing people to play a way they do not want to play is the entire reason Bungie is seeing so much burn out.

39:45 35 y/o here. I'm primarily a pve player, I play a decent amount of pvp mostly to try and get some valuable weapons for both pvp/e.
While I can do well and even great in normal pvp, or in competitive. I get obliterated 7/10 times in Trials. I can be a valuable member of the team by not dying and team shooting but if it comes to the point where there isn't a good player on the team that can combat some oppressive pvp players, it's a wash.
People our age do not have the time to bang our head against the wall to try and improve to the point to be competitive in this game mode. You may have time to devote to playing trials 6-7 hours a day during the weekend, that's great btw no shade. But that doesn't mean others simply do.
Additionally you have skill in the game that was gradually built over time, you evolved with the game. You had even and paced stepping stones to get to the pinnacle. People jumping in now have to climb Everest to get to that point. Possible? Yes. Probable. Not really.

Then you get bagged by the other team after going 0-5, this normally doesn't effect me but when I'm catching shit from everyone else in the match I choose to put pvp down.

My straightforward answer is that Destiny 2 should be allowed to end or become complete. But the game is a SERVICE so I know that's not allowed to happen, it can't die, it has to be on life support for forever.
So given that, if the game is not allowed to end, I think that EVERY few years or so Destiny needs to change and refreshed so significantly that it's basically a new game/Destiny 3.
It can stay as Destiny 2, but it has to have hard resets. I think people had no idea what they were cheering for when Sunsetting was "sun-set." It was a mistake. The game needs these hard resets. IMO we need actual SEASONS, in the same way Diablo handles it - You have 2 PVE 'Servers' Non-Season where you have all your loot and Season servers where you start with nothing, regrind weapons, Raid Races and Dungeon races and whatnot can start fresh again with a brand new meta with fresh gear. And when the season ends, all your gear rolls over into the Non-Season, you never lose anything, there's just a separate server that doesn't have all the baggage of legacy gear. Seasons also onboard NEW PLAYERS easier, they don't have to deal with so much legacy baggage.
And then there's PVP, it HAS to become aspirational like Counterstrike or something, where growing in skill will make you play PVP for years to come. Great base gameplay and incredible support for competition will make people stay.

The suggestion that at every season everyone loses their weapons and gear would genuinely kill most of Destiny's playerbase. I genuinely don't know why you think resetting everything that a player works for would be a good idea. Especially since it isn't a good idea in Diablo 4 or three and those games are piss easy and could be beaten by lobotomies.

The game has already lost most of its original players. At guardian con last year nearly everyone you met would admit they were disappointed in quality and hadn't played in months. Only those dependent upon income and Bungie simps play on a regular basis. Those still left will likely still move on because they will continue to under deliver to keep the train rolling, which is the live service model plan they admitted to and have been very much sticking to under delivery. That only lasts so long before you realize that everything is mediocre. Just like any other industry, people stay for quality. They have not been producing that. Add to that the awful maintenance and server issues. That is the main issue among others.

    1. Update from Tiger engine. I don't care if it takes 6 months or longer. Update us to an engine that at minimum actually splits the sandboxes. I think this change would help retain players for another five or so years. No more complaints of pvp getting someone's favorite build nerfed.
    2. Update servers. The servers are horrendous (in PvP especially).
    3. More frequent balance passes. We don't like waiting 3 months to multiple years for changes we all know would be beneficial.
    4. 6th class that allows us to use harmonic mods with kinetic weapons.
    5. I know episodes are supposed to be a thing but my expectations for them are incredibly low. I don't know how they keep the story moving forward.

The game has always had a lot of problems, and Bungie is always improving parts of it and adding new functionality, but at the same time adding a lot of problems.
But most players do their best to live with and ignore the problems cause they like the game. So if the story disappoints, a huge part of the community has no reason to ignore the problems anymore.
So any good will the game had flew out of the window and the people who liked the story before join the complainers who complain for other reasons, like PvP balance, bugs, performance, etc.
