Apparently Secret World Legends still exists - First Impressions

I made the video after about 20 hours of playing Secret World Legends (which you might know as The Secret World).
Yeah, it's not much considering the game was originally made as an MMO, but consider this as a first impressions kind of video.

What makes this game unique it's the quests. I've never, NEVER seen the kind of depth in any other MMORPG. I mean: some investigation missions are literally HARD. I hope that Funcom, after the release of DUNE Awakening, gives some attention to SWL. It's simply a unique game and truly deserves more love.

I second that, the quests are really interesting.
Granted, there were the usual kill X of Y and take this thing from A to B, but the other quests were very innovative and interesting (even if I did google the answers, I still appreciate the thought and care put into them).

I bought a lifetime sub way bsck when the original released and still enjoy playing the game every now and then.

A lifetime sub sounds like a questionable marketing plan. A couple of people have mentioned playing the classic version of the game, but I was left with the impression it doesn't require a subscription to play anymore?

The combat is so much better when you use a 3rd party program to re-map the keys to a controller. Combat went from like a 2/10 to a 7/10.

I suspect that's a preference thing. I never use a controller and I don't recall having issues with the key positioning on keyboard and mouse 🤔

@@bsdsuPASTA I felt like using the abilities and moving the camera felt more natural on a controller. But its definitely a preference thing.

The only money I spent on any Funcom games was on The Secret World classic.

How was the game back then? It seems like it would be pretty cool if it was an active game.

@@bsdsuPASTA I still play the classic and the game is head and shoulders above SWL. More content, amazing combat system. If you want to try it you just need to have a legacy account or one of the old CD keys.

@@amarjamakovic1297 I just spent a few minutes digging into how to play the original game out of curiosity.
It seems like getting an account for it these days is quite like some of the quests in the game in how many obscure hoops you have to jump through to get a key :D
Unless those ultimate edition keys on some retailer websites are legit, in which case it's not too bad.
Unfortunately I wouldn't go out of my way play the original Secret World at this point. I can get the story hassle-free from Legends and for everything else I would rather play some other MMO with a decent playerbase.
Thanks for sending me down the rabbit hole of getting an account though, it was quite entertaining and I'm sure one day I'll find a way to work it into a casual conversation.

Although some of the puzzles I did seemed quite involved. The OG puzzles must have been something else!

the main server for the first version of a game? TSW is still up also just need a old account or a key to TSW not SWL throught that in the trash

Agreed! The worst part is, nobody seems interested in making another game in this (or similar) setting :(

Was a good game until they dumbed down the combat to easy mode, got rid of the skill wheel for a cookie cutter class system, and made everyone start over for some reason.

Yeah, the combat really wasn't impressive in Legends as far as I played it :(
