Return of reckoning is freakin amazing. Not only have they "finished" the game; theyve added content, have events, and are make ng balance changes and updates. There are also class updates and reworks being worked on.
Is there an end game now? I played to end game, but it was just a giant zerg fest to each castle, with massive AE raining down at choke points and instantly killing anyone who went beyond. I guess it all comes down to, is there an end game?

I've actually done some voicework for RoR! Not sure if it's implemented yet but I was commissioned to voice a Great Unclean One raid boss. Proving that I cannot escape the "Unclean" moniker no matter how hard I try.
apparently there was leaked stuff of a 3rd faction being introduced as playable skaven due to the balance between 2 of the factions being bad at the time and introducing a 3rd one was going to be easier to manage as 2 can gang up on 1.
@@DaemonPrince The Skaven were eventually released, but rather than be a third faction they were just "power-ups" you would collect at your faction's held keeps in RvR lakes (i think maybe just t4 keeps IIRC) that would turn you into a skaven associated with your class's role (tanks > rat ogre, I played chosen on live so don't remember the others). They were kinda mid in implementation, but doubt they 100% planned for it to be implemented the way they did.
I got back into this around the time of warhammer total war 1, after it had shut down initially. The modding/developer team is hard at work constantly with patches, live events every weekend, large events every month or so. The pvp is still packed, and t1 pops off on the weekends very well. Otherwise you just follow the crowd in openworld pvp or pop scenarios in t2-t3 or t4. It is incredibly nostalgic but also aged pretty well, the pvp is among the best in any online mmo to date, and offers far more, for free. If you haven't tried it, give it a try with some friends, pairs really well with a coop campaign in tww3, running scenarios as the characters based on the race and faction you are playing. 10/10 recommended!
Dev is a bit of strong word. They're rehashing old content to make new stuff. I remember when members of the private server group started collecting data ingame about a month before the game finally shut down. I would caution you on interacting with the "devs". From what i've heard from a couple people who tried the private server they act like Reddit mods with a massive power trip.
That’s what the people that run free shards are called. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve seen wack job golden-age MMORPG enjoyers whine about their shard’s dev team I’d have a lot of dollars. I’m sure these devs are fine, much like all the teams I’ve seen accused of and called all sorts of nasty things by middle aged malcontents.

The release of SWTOR pretty much killed the games support, as a lot of Devs got pulled into it - as opposed to supporting the creation of more content for Warhammer Online
@@ShadowPhoenixMaximus because of EA the game came out YEARS before it should have so it was highly unfinished (high elves didnt even have finished skins for close to a year after launch) AND EA launched it just a month before the WoW Wrath xpac the game was dead before it even came out (but i still had a sub from day 1 till the day it was shut down cause i love Warhammer so much)
Totally wish we could have Vampire counts and Tomb king characters but I hop on from time to time. I used to roll with Sotek back when he initially started playing it again.

Played about 2 years ago and it’s surprisingly good, I always felt like if I started now I’d be at a disadvantage compared to other players, but the gameplay and classes are solid.
As someone who played Warhammer Online in live servers, and returned to the private server in 2019 or so, and only play sporadically, from time to time- I do a lot of endgame content. You would not be at a disadvantage. If you’re interested, I’d highly recommend casually giving it a go! It’s a great time.
@@Grictalio Oh yeah, it really looks like a great time too, I mean they actually gave thematic races their counter parts instead of being Ork warrior, dwarf warrior, human warrior, and the like. The details alone are breathe taking and it's a great time as far as I remember. Maybe i'll give it another try.
@@zonolith5912 I love the thematic classes. I play predominantly Dark Elf Blackguard and Chaos Marauder, and it’s really nice to feel thematically slotted in, rather than having to internally roleplay the unique quirks of my class.

Decided to give it a try after watching this vid, I already play on warmane on their wrath expansion. So far this game is awesome. It's great having a mount at level 2, vs 40.
I love this game, I'm not much of a pvper either, but this game is super fun. I love how the grouping system works and the way each race has their own flavour and play a little differently. Really cool game.
This is one great game, if you like pvp, massive or small scale its so satisfying and cool, plenty of people meme with the lore, mature playerbase no drama. Old gold! Playing it around 5 years now and its still fun as the first time i played it.
I played at launch and the T4 raids back in the day when it was peak was amazing... Pushing the last zone after 2/3 were capped had like 6,7,8 WB's funneled into 1 zone. We're talking like 300 player battles, pushing into a Fort and crashing the server. They ended up capping the Forts at 80v80 after a few weeks, so it was always a race to get into the forts. I have fond memories of T2 and T3 keep defenses as well. It sadens me that the game was shut down, i'll have to loop back to RoR.
i played the game when it came out and i believe the biggest issue with its launch was optimism with WAY too many servers. there were dozens of people doing the world quests in the starting zones it was almost instantaneous getting into PVP under level 10, but after level 10 it would take 40 minutes to an hour. this at least for me led to a feedback loop where i stopped playing because no one else seemed to be playing, and by the time they condensed the servers down too many people had done what i did.
Archmage is to this day yhe funnest mmo class I have played. The mechnic to buff your healing after doing damage and buff damage after doing healing is so simple, but exactly what a hybrid healing class needed and allowed for decisions where you had to swap between both and I had some good duels woth enemies cursing my name well after their friends were dead and mine were still full hp.
World of Warcraft stole/took inspiration from some features from this game which says something: Tome of Knowledge, Public Quests, etc… is the first thing that stood out to me
Bought the collectors edition for this game when it launched and had a blast. Was pretty young then and didn't fully comprehend some of the mechanics. But had a blast none the less. Too bad it shut down. Awesome that these guys are keeping it running however.

Been playing with it with a freind. Actually enjoy it a lot. Playing as a warroir priest and my freind a knight. PvP was actually fun just running arround with other people living in the moment

OH MY GOD THE MEMORIES! Loved this game so so so much. I absolutely adored the PVE I just LOVED READING EVERYTHING! This was my first experience to Warhammer Fantasy...absolutely brilliant. I still have the absolutely incredible physical Collectors Edition of the game too :D. I just love it so much. Side note...is WH3 allowed to use assets from this game?! I completely forgot about the Tri-Barrel Hellfire Cannon! Completely forgot it existed, I can't find any lore on it though.
I played the beta of this back in the day, but didn't get in to it because i was achievement hunting in Northrend. 😂 But I did start this up last weekend and gotten to lvl 11 so far. I was pleasantly surprised to find Gotrek & Felix and started questing for them. Its been fun exploring, I'm excited to explore the rest of the available world.
This game gave me unforgetable memories. Always in my heart. ♥ Only problem that its very demanding for the constant "party". If you will play solo 90% of all time you'll suffer.
ROR is great however most of the player base has characters on both sides and can flip at a moment’s notice (unless theve changed this recently) quite annoying if you only play as either order or chaos as one minute you can be playing with your teammates and a few minutes later they can be fighting against you
I think WH is the only MMORPG that could have 3 factions, or maybe some races that can choose between chaos and order faction, this could happend with vampires, dwarfs, greenskins probably.
Is there any smaller scale open world pvp in this game? All I ever see is zerg v zerg videos. I'm interested in going out with a friend and trying to run duo pvp (we used to do this in DaoC) but if we'll just be run over by warbands non-stop I wont bother. Any chance at some smaller scale open world pvp fights in this game?

I advise beginners to play for the order. Because the order classes are a little simpler and more powerful. But you must understand that the most rotten and toxic people play only for the order. The order will never attack if there are at least 2 times more of them. The order feels comfortable only if half of the WB are healers.
It's a shame that AoR lacks my favorite races. I would've loved to play a Tomb Prince, Maneater, or Kroxigor. Reason I didn't stick with it after hitting level cap back in the day.
Yeah as Warhammer fan would have loved to see expansions for all that. Vampire Counts would be amazing! But big greenskin fan in all things Warhammer so WAAAGHHHH
Sadly with the gcd changes to 1.5s and morale nerfs nothing ever dies in this game and it is totally broken now. Devs are 100% incompetent when it comes to game balance

The loss of Warhammer Online is a tragedy. So much potential, and it was doomed right out the gate. I need more than Vermintide for my Warhammer fix.

honestly , i played it on release. for me this is an MMO , unlike most other modern games who call themselves that.

At/near original launch this was the most fun I've had in PvP when things were popping off but unfortunately sometimes it was crickets. >< :(

There are classes with pets and deployable turrets but no 'necromancer skelly army' type

Sadly with the gcd changes to 1.5s and morale nerfs nothing ever dies in this game and it is totally broken now. Devs are 100% incompetent when it comes to game balance
