Such a fun video to watch. The f7 were such ratty fun fast sleds. The zr 900 kinda surprised me. The catalyst 858 looks like it rips. Enjoy the content. Keep up the good work.
I loved this video because the zr900 was kicking ass guy on brand new sled was like damn males me feel great about my 2003 carb zr 900 that makes around 200hp 😂😅
I love seeying the old sleds! that can be very quick! My 01 800 zx is top to bottom rebuilt and it's still a rocket, rides like a wagon clearly but still a blast! 🤙
Don't thank me, thank www.youtube.com/@JustinJenny He's the wizard that came out and filmed all the fancy shots and drone footage, I just stuck it all together!
On those older machines chain the front end down, The sleds like the MachZ will do 120MPH+ gear it down 2-3 teeth on the top gear and run short lugs and add 198 studs that penetrate at least 1/2inch, remove as much weight as you can, cooling system is not needed for short drags remove the gauge cluster stock seat, lights, snow flap etc... use antifreeze or dish-soap on the slide rails. Only put 3 gallons in the fuel tank. Delete the oil injection and run premix. On warmer days like this you can jet down 1-2 sizes on the main jets. Put a heavy spring or add a spacer in the primary to raise engagement up to 6k RPM. Most races are won in the first 60-100 feet, you want the best transfer out of the hole, this will take some experimenting with the shock springs and transfer blocks to get the best 60 foot time.
I think a little bit of a rematch needs to happen. The older sleds are a bit slower off the start but they pull like nothing else if they’re running right. Check our races with them on the snow!
@@MunsonMotorsports well tinkering is the fun part of snowmobiling, I got a 99 xcsp 500 that will outrun xlt600 triples and keep up with xc700s no problem and the motor is all stock, it's just some good clutching. Also have a 97 zr580 that will do the same but it's got a long track on it so it's always got traction.
Those ZR 900's are still nasty. I had an 04 and damn was it a runner. They didn't make it for that many years after they dropped the rest of the ZR lineup for no reason.
how to win in grass races have the heavest boots to wear to slam the suspension down on take off. the trow your feet forward about 50ft after launch and hang on. but I am crazy though if it can do 280 mp/h I will make it do it !!! I did that when I was 12 then 16 then 25. all the speedo's said the same. but it was tunnel vision at 220+ mph and the ski's 1 ft of the ground !!! mach fomula 900 rotax over bored racing sled year ??? !!! there is a racing sled track near where I live. so racing sleds are cheap after. only way we can tell is the bronze play saying built for this driver !!!
Budget bombers. You buy a cheap sled and run what ya brung. The srx made a couple passes, but on this day it had some gremlins to be worked out, and honestly it was slow as hell. The risk you take buying a 26 year old sled. Hopefully it gets sorted.
@ ya i understand that must have weak compression or the power valves are stuck because I have a 2000 srx and they have 153 hp and when running good they would smoke any of the the sleds in this video I have walked brand new sleds with out a problem the srx is straight line sled and that’s were it shines id love to see it running at peak power the make some real passes I would would be willing to bet with a studded track it beats the whole line up. Specially the f7 they call the srx the fire cat killer
@ love the budget bombers and understand what’s you mean bud. I got a sxr viper and and a sx vmax and I see they ran them as well but the srx smokes both my other Yamaha s so get that srx up to par so I can see it spank some sled 😎
These old irons are new to me hahah ! Great video though !
Looks like so much fun. What a great group of guys. Thanks for sharing
We had a blast filming it, can't wait to make more!
As a 2004 FireCat F7 EFI original owner, I was happy to see it in the top 3 time after time! GREAT times!!😊
For as bad as the jackshaft bearing is, and it being driven right out of the bushes, it sure is a runner!
I like the indy 650 had a 1989 looks like you guys had a blast. awesome video

Everyone in the group is questioning whether that ZR9 is actually stock or not haha!
Looked like an amazing day of fun buddy! 👍🏼 Alot of nice older sleds with best of the best. Take Care
Looked like a fun time!

they were rated at like 154 hp from arctic cat
@@ultrazls1 Just a tad more then the FireCat, but with LOTS more weight!
Well worth the wait. Looked like a blast.

Very Awesome!
That zr900 is a beast. And shout out to the 780 that think rips

Them old zr900s were fast but that one is really fast! Its running good.
It's definitely got some legs....it's in really good shape but still, almost runs a little bit too good...

If the race was a little longer that Mach Z would be coming around everyone, it was picking up steam at the finish line.
That's what we're all saying after rewatching everything...we're lucky we didn't run longer haha

Yes they are had one and a Polaris 600 triple built for grass and asphalt drags so much fun
Got a couple ZR900's that are studded, carbide'd and absolutely have no equal through the twisty woods...
He who leaves first.. Wins. Get some timing lights and do it right.
It's a budget thing....get it 😅
I need one of those sugarz stickers. Lol
AIR HORN!
that 800 needs some diff gearing or something it just rpm and no go but it looked like a blast to be there with friends
More transfer would help tremendously!
Anyone else see those 858s racing that g5 👀👀
What year was the ZR900?
03
03 carb/chaincase version rig. Allegedly "fresh rebuild last season"....so who knows what all is in there haha
My friend had zr 900 nothin touched that sled

and there is 5 of the old racing sleds kicking around !!! close to me and I have ridin 3 of them.
You absolutely were not doing 220 mph on a snowmobile lol
220 mph on a sled. yeah ok 😂😂😂😂
Was that an modern skidoo a 850?
Was that old 650 beating your 800?
The Yamaha srx would smoke any of them sleds in its sleep I see you guys had one there but did not run it you only ran the vipers

Old iron is mid 80s and older not late 90s
Anything 2016 and older is old iron to me
@patrickminer5086 only thing that's not plastic or aluminum is the frame and trailing arms
Lol what!? Thats crazy@@patrickminer5086
To me old iron is the wedge sleds , early 2000s and older
Run 70s sleds only lol
Hummm 800 Polaris was slow...not running right
SRX SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THEM ALL HAD IT RUN CORRECTLY
Never will it out run a zr900 carb an chain case 😂
