I have a 2008 Porsche Cayenne with a VR6. It’s basically the same as your Volkswagen. I having a really hard time putting back intake. Follow your instructions on taking out the fuel lines. And still can’t put it back. Do you have any tips for me?
Sorry to hear you're having trouble. It is a pain to install, just take your time and don't force anything. Make sure the injector wiring harnesses aren't getting in the way. Once it sits down on top, it typically has to move to the left when looking at the engine, just by shifting it around until it falls into place (may have to lift the left side a bit). Getting the lower injector rail lined up was always the biggest challenge for me.
Hey now, thought I'd ask what was the 7 bolts for intake manifold torqued at? I primarily only work on Honda's but I wanted to branch out and try my 2007 Volkswagen touareg that just came around. Runs well and gotta say, it has grown on me but it is having a rough idle. I bought the replacement parts then noticed the Pcv valve (messing oil in the vicinity of the exterior Pcv) has an issue which is located inside the valve cover which brings me to buying more parts. Now, I aim to pursue all the labor work which peaks my curiosity to know how it would perform after the installation of the new parts. I do plan to potentially sell after the check engine is off along with no more rough up and down idle. (In the process of removing the intake manifold on Dec. 13th, 2024) Your video and help is greatly appreciated, always. Happy 2024 Holidays.
Hey, good job. but what was the engine problem? misfires? i have the same problem. i hace tried new set of coils pack and nothing. i think that my problem could be carbon build or valve lifters
The list of problems on this one was long. As soon as I fixed one thing, another issue revealed itself. The main issue is poor maintenance, poor quality oil and/or extended oil change intervals. This caused excessive wear on the timing components, tappets and sludging which damaged the variator (camshaft phaser).
Sorry, this is the closest I have to a step by step of removing the intake manifold. Just make sure to be careful removing the manifold, don't force anything as the ears will break. Disconnecting the lower fuel rail to upper rail fuel line is the most difficult part but an important part that's why I focused on it. If you run into anything that you have questions about, send me a message or comment and I'll try to help out.
No, you can pull the head off without removing the engine. Although, timing it correctly would definitely be a challenge. Lots of using a mirror to check timing alignments.
No I have done any wheel bearings on a Touareg yet. Glad to hear yours is running good. This did run much better once we replaced the timing hardware and especially that camshaft variator. Unfortunately I can stand that knocking noise, so it will have to be rebuilt. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I’ve seen the inside of a lot of vr6 engines. This one looks clean. Some are very very slugged up
Interesting, we did find some sludge in the oil pan, but nothing alarming. Thanks for watching & the comment!

Nicely documented. If I had one critique it would be the background music...it's not necessary at all.
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah we stopped having background music while I’m talking after receiving similar feedback. Thanks again!

I believe they 18ft-lbs. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I am absolutely, thankful for the response. I will definitely still look it up to assure it's to spec.
Same as an Audi Q7 I had a leak in the valve cover and was replaced 3 times until it was finally fixed.
That's crazy, "3 times". Thanks for watching & the comment.
So much time and work. Man I feel for you folks. What came of this? I cannot find the next video? Pull it out again?
Lol, we are actually working on it right now. I should have the video out here shortly. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Nice video. I’m replacing an intake manifold gasket. Do you have a video step by step??

Wait does that mean you wouldn’t be able to pull the head off without taking the engine out of the car?

have y replaced any wheel bearing? I did my timing chain at 206K now i am at 256K drives like new ......

@@mountainviewsgarage what's the kilometers on that one, I have to replace both front bearings now at 256K
@@dejanmeki It's got 153,000 miles or 246,200km's. The tie rods were worn so we replaced those, but wheel bearings and ball joints are good.
My issue now is I am getting poor fuel mileage before when the fuel gauge on half pointing straight I was at 411km hwy driving now getting only 300km
That's a 3.2 Engine 3.6 Come in 2008 and up For the Vw Touareg and 2006 and up for the Passat
At least in the U.S., the 3.6 Vr6 was first put in the Touareg in 2007.
The only solution to a Touareg problem is to buy another Touareg.
LOL, no kidding... I've learned a lot of the VW 3.6 VR6 with this one. Thanks for the comment!
