Im having same issue. Can you make a quick guide on how to remove the glove box? I know it's fixed and everything is back up but just a few tips. Thanks.
first thing to do is turn the heat all the way up on both sides and cycle through defrost, press every button etc. I did it and it fixed mine. It was hot on the passenger side, cold on the driver. 2015 ats

@@saltydog9321 This has also worked for me with same issue. Sometimes have to cycle through few times. Does this mean it’s the mode door actuator that is going bad?
As a technician at a dealership.. and have worked on cars with many HVAc issues the blendoor actuator is for the temperature mistire. Not the mode issue that a separate actuator. The mode door actuator, I’m really curious to know if this fixed it, I have the same car and I’m having an issue with the modes not switching properly, mode door is the only thing I and a few techs can think of being the issue after relearn/reprogramming the HVAC system
Hello, I’m having the same problem! It’s not blowing in my face, but it does defrost the back and does blow out cold and hot! If I turn it up you hear the blower go fast if you want it slow it also works ! So this would be the blend door actuator correct !???

Did that actually fix it, though? The problem you describe called for replacement of the mode door actuator, not the blend door actuator. I have the same problem you described - the air coming out of the HVAC system isn’t switchable between the defrost vents, a/c vents, and the floor vents anymore. It only blows out the defrost vents for me.
Sophia Geary Mullins I ended up paying $2k at the dealer. The official service manual’s labor-intensive procedure includes having to take the doors off the car to get at the $40 part.
Dan E Yep, blame the engineers who made zero effort to build easy serviceability into their design. It would have been easy to foresee this issue and alter the design to make it easier for the mechanics to get to this part of the HVAC system.
Douglas O'Brien Beyond that, this part should not fail on a 4 year old car with 70k miles. Guess I’ll learn to live with it. No way I’m sinking 2 grand into this car for that problem.

I don't think that's the bland door. That's is the inside outside air intake. The bland sore that Blanca cold and hot air is left side but in the passenger side.
Any tips on removing the glove box and the plastic surrounding as you did in the video? I am attempting to make the same repair but could not get the glovebox completely off. I got all the visible screws and it was detached at top and sides but something was missed at bottom. I removed 2 visible screws but it was still held in place.
You have to remove the the airbag that's right below the glove box. 2 10mm nuts under the plastic cover. Once the airbag is removed there is two screws that are holding the glove box in on the bottom. TAKE THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL SIDE OF THE BATTERY OFF OF THE BATTERY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE AIRBAG!!!!!!!!!! I'm not responsible for any injuries that may occur. I have ats 2017 2.0t and srx 2016 .now the ats dealer changed the battery before I purchase it and I noticed the ac blowing power is less compared to the sound plus the ac compressor goes off for around 10 seconds while I drive on reduced speed..yesterday they changed my srx battery and now I'm complaining of the exact same thing...what could be the problem????
Did it fix the issue? Im having the same problem right now and with this texas heat it aint helping. And by any chance do you have a part number for it?
it's very possible. one thing i would try is pulling power on the HVAC controller which is located under the glove box. It will be covered by a kick panel. You will see a black box about the size of a large book with several connectors. Unplug them all and replug.
