- Do you like trying famous street foods? How about some authentic south Indian dosa while you are in New York City? Thiru Kumar, also known as Dosa man is selling dosa from a small cart (NY dosa) since 2001 in front of Washington state park. You will get an idea about how famous he is from the fact that there is a Wikipedia page on NY dosas. The food quality is very good and pretty cheap. He is very fun to talk with. Overall you will have an awesome experience but get there with some time in hand cause the wait time can be an hour! The must-try items are pondicherry dosa, uttapam, vegetable cutlets. Top it with coconut podi, red chutney, green chutney and you will have a heavenly experience!
আপনি কি রাস্তার ভালো খাবার খেতে পছন্দ করেন? নিউ ইয়র্ক সিটিতে খাঁটি দক্ষিণ ভারতীয় ধোসা পেলে কেমন হয়? তিরু কুমার, যিনি ধোসা মানুষ নামেও পরিচিত, ওয়াশিংটন স্টেট পার্কের সামনে 2001 সাল থেকে একটি ছোট্ট দোকান (দোকানের নাম NY dosas) থেকে ধোসা বিক্রি করছেন। NY dosas- এর ওপর একটি উইকিপিডিয়া পেজ ও আছে, এর থেকে তিনি কতটা বিখ্যাত তা সম্পর্কে ধারণা পাবেন। খাবারের মান খুবই ভালো এবং বেশ সস্তা। তার সাথে ওনার সাথে কথা বলেও খুব মজা পাওয়া যায়। সামগ্রিকভাবে আপনার একটি দুর্দান্ত অভিজ্ঞতা হবে, তবে হাতে কিছু সময় নিয়ে ওখানে যাবেন কারণ আপনাকে প্রায় এক ঘন্টা লাইন দিতে হতে পারে ! আপনাদের অবশ্যই খেয়ে দেখতে হবে পন্ডিচেরি ধোসা, উত্তাপাম, ভেজিটেবল কাটলেট। নারকেল পোডি, লাল চাটনি, সবুজ চাটনি দিয়ে খান, আপনার স্বর্গীয় অভিজ্ঞতা হবে!

We are Proud Srilankan 👏. Not Indian
I visted New York this summer for few days only to visit family and do sightseeing. On my last day I made the biggest mistake of going to get a dosa from this man. At first I was told that I was the last person. Then they kept letting more people in. I wasted 5 hours, I repeat 5 hours! to get 1 low quality dosa! 5 hours for 1 dry dosa! He catered more and spent time talking to the last group of 10 people than to me who really was to be the last person. I found him to be unpleasant and the dosa was terrible - no sambar or chutney or tea. All gone. What makes me mad is my own stupidity that the 5 hours I wasted standing in line in the sun for the terrible food - I could've spent that time doing so many things! Also if you are from a city like Toronto like I am - do yourself a favour and buy dosas from the 100 restaurants that sell them than wasting your vacation time here. You'll thank me for this tip. Every time I think about this experience, it actually upsets me. Don't go here!
