Dig that pinky exercise! Yeah man, sounds like you have the right balance - which is what it’s all about. Teaching, duo gigs etc and all that allows you to do your originals in the way you want too. Nice
Good morning brother from the beautiful Adirondack mountains in upstate NY. 615 am and a rare 60* morning. Outside w my dogs listening to you do your thang🤘🤪🎸🙏
Thanks for licking us all on this Monday Q&A that is some funny stuff. I am so happy that you are about to hit 100k brother!!! It should be a million the content is top notch and I don’t own a Fractal device and I watch every single video because of your playing and you are all around one cool cat🤟🏻
Great Q and A brother as usual. That Kiss story was hilarious. 😂 I try to work my pinky in a little. I like how you said it more finesse. It's true, because you only need to put as much pressure against the fret that's required to make the note sound off and I had the hardest time with that when I first started playing. I would really dig in. Great stories. Too funny brother. Love that DGT. Probably the best all around or one of them for the money guitars out there today. I do love some of the premium Ibanez guitars too I see on Sweetwater ( here in my home state) .. They have some killer stuff with stainless frets, neck thru's and with the excellent edge trems, etc,. I once went to a battle of the bands like thing at this club, but it was battle of lead solos. People just got up and played solos. They had like two minutes, then the crowd clapped and they had a decimal meter to determine who won and they gave them some type of prize. This was in the 80s and some of these guys were awful 😂. Some were great and most were just okay. One guy that I worked with who didn't even play guitar borrowed one and plugged in and did nothing but abuse the Floyd Rose of a Kramer guitar he borrowed from someone and it was awful and was boo'd bad. 😂 Have a great day sir and better week and stay warm as I know it's fall there. It's spring here and the weather has been awesome except for the damn bugs such as ticks and such. I hate those damn things. 😂 Be well sir. ❤ Tim ..
That's an interesting take on pinky finger stuff. I personally try to play a lot of stuff to "detach" pinky from ring finger, but i hit a plateau. My main exercise used to be the fast parts of Soothsayer by Buckethead, which is just a scale with a lot of pinky movements, but no matter how long i spend on that, my pinky is just stiff. Will have to try your approach
Hey Leon ! Great Q&A ! Was never a big Kiss fan, but that was funny ! Really enjoy every video you make on Fractal gear. I’ve had my FM9 for about a year and just love it ! Thinking of selling my amps (Mesa M5 and Krank R). QQ, have you ever thought of doing videos on well-known guitarists and their tone? Or maybe showing how to build the guitar tone from a specific song. As an example, I was listening to “He knows you know” from Marillion while taking a walk and tried to replicate the tone used for the guitar riff ! Thanks, Norm from Canada
Early on, I read about somebody, perhaps Hetfield but not 100% sure anymore, using middle & pinkie fingers for power chords in certain riffs as a matter of economy. I immediately started practicing that, things like holding an open E power chord with my 1st finger and throwing G power chords with the 2nd & 4th, or half-step intervals with 1 & 3 and 2 & 4. I also started working on playing different chord voicings that forced me to use unusual finger combinations and placements. Jeeeeeez, KISS guy....yeah, I've had that experience. Why does it sometimes seem like the most eager to get behind a mic and insistent that they're a great singer are usually the least capable? OK, I dunno if this has been asked or answered. Ever have a train wreck on stage?
That story about the Kiss guy was priceless. I mean, what do you do? Boot the dude off the stage and maybe look like jerks (as well as devastate the guy)? Or let him continue and alienate your crowd? The joys of live rock and roll.
re: touring -- We should all be so lucky as to break even on a weekend spent engaged in our favorite activity! 😄 I wouldn't look at it as not turning a profit so much as getting to do it for free.
Queation: Ive been a huge fan as Im sure you are of the band Stryper. I want to rip off tbeor tome. Guitar tone andnI know at oke time they jsed abdedixated rack efdect I belive. I think it was an EQ. Anuway, how could I use a pedal format EQ and what frequncoes woukd yoh cut and boost to get thoer tone since its very unique. I would use a Boss Multi effects to get the Mesa Boogie Preamp tomes. I just nses the eq info. Thanks brother. ❤ Youre the man !!!❤
Django Reinhardt challenge is fun and rewarding. Be careful with it, if you feel pain. Stop! But it may entertain you in a different light. Try it out y'all
DUDE, brushing your teeth with your non-dominate hand is HARD. l am right-handed and a few years ago tried to start doing things with my left hand just because, and brushing teeth was DEFINITELY the most difficult.
If you need to make a living, hell no you can't :D. Unless you're one of the 0.00001% that catch an industry break, you are making nothing. Thankfully music is only a hobby for me. If I had to live on it, I'd be dead 3 times over.
I don’t like the idea of cover bands, they ruin it for the people who want to do originals because they’re the only projects that rack in big money, and they don’t pay the artist they’re covering.
Happy Monday legends!
Happy Monday to you good sir. ❤
that pinky tip is GOLD

You know it better than most mate!

Sounds like a little slice of heaven mate!
Ha! I was playing N.I.B. yesterday. It's been years. I'm trying to dust off some old tunes and switch things up as well as learn some new stuff.
One of those "riff's the same as the vocals" songs
@@LeonToddUGLY KID JOE recorded a great version of this song
Happy Sunday, Troy!

Thankyou mate, I appreciate it!

Good pinky tips! Heh - I vacuum part of the house left handed, just to keep both sides working!
Love that!
Is that a Lego box in the background?
Love these videos leon you rock 🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸
No YOU rock!

Definitely a "Why not both" situation

Exactly!
Leon have you ever gigged with Peter Northcote? He’d be an interesting interview maybe on the gear channel….

Absolutely! It was easier to learn to kick a football with my left foot
@@LeonTodd Break your dominant hand and wipe your arse with non dominant, I had to do that for 6 months all up, not good !!!
Hey is it true you're opening for Yngwie?!
yes, Melbourne/Brisbane/Sydney shows in a few weeks
Sounds like you’re staying above water, but when you’re sixty-five, will you have saved for retirement?
I’m 99.99% can not regardless of talent.
If Led Zeppelin couldn't, what hope is there for the rest of us?!

You'll put your eye out kid.😐
I love that movie so much

Venues that host live music in Australia pay fees to cover some of that. Acts submit performance reports and get royalties for playing live too.
😂😂😂 usually don't comment before watching....but I wanted to be first 🎸🤘👍🙏
Damnit beat me 😢😂
Leon!
