I don't know where all the negative comments are coming from but this thing sounds great. Greg is putting this keyboard to the test and most people don't remember what those original keyboards were like or how they sounded. Remember in the 80s when the DX7 came out? It totally replaced all of the 70s piano sounds.
I've always thought Korg has the best acoustic pianos. This thing is number one on my list, just because it looks great and sounds even better! I love the simplicity.
I've been a fan of Greg's since his days with Stevie Wonder...his playing blows me away! And while I don't have a tenth of his chops, I'd love to get my hands on the SV-1! Fantastic piano, EP and clav sounds!
This is truly a superb model of a instrument. I've always wanted to sound like all of my heroes in music. From what I hear it definitely appeases to many generations. Inviting Brother Greg Phillinganes to exercise the fruits of it is champion strategy. I couldn't do half of what's he's doing, but still Its worth the investment for performers of piano. I'm actually inspired to learn more of piano playing, after over 10 years of practicing minuscule writing with piano. Playing by ear or whatever comes to my head never really satisfied me, but I finally think its about time to take piano more seriously. Its a nice trade to put under my belt.
@ZombiGrisGris The SV-1 has brand-new pianos, and also the original SG1D sample set. And yes, you can use the amplifier modeling section with any sound.
@chaveznieves We just needed to fix a small but meaningful error. Apologies for the repeat posting, but we hope that like us, you enjoyed Greg's terrific playing on the SV-1 enough to watch the video again.
Greg's the absolute bomb!! I mean - that guy can PLAY 😀 The SV, however... This video's 10 years old and no-one I know has one, had one, never seen one played live. And they do look good & funky, so where did Korg go wrong then?
I've read that this keyboard has the vintage early 60's-era Hohner Pianet sounds (heard on The Zombies "She's Not There" and The Beatles "I Am The Walrus"...but I've yet to see/hear any online demos showing this?
He worked with many artists. George Duke...Stanley Clarke...Anita Baker...Lionel Richie. He had a solo project in the '80's but didn't sell too well...but he is still the most sought after studio keyboard player to work with a major R&B singer.
This keyboard seriously needs an update! Hey Korg there is a whole new crop of players that are used to higher level of quality sounds. Get the SV2 on the market for us with $$$ burning in our pockets for a new version!
Someone was asking what the music is at 5.06. I’d love to find it as well. It does sound like Billy Preston but I can’t see it from him. Can anyone help? Greg, are you there?
hey there, im definitely buying this one, i would like to know about the stand, looks cool and completes the vintage look, is this included with the sv1, or where can i buy it? thanks a lot
Hey Korg is this a brand new piano sample or is it more like a high-rez of the original SG1 sample? It sounds like a new one, but I really can't tell with UA-cam compression. And can you run the piano through the amp sims? I can't wait to get one of these babies.
He's also all over Donald Fagen's 'The Nightfly'... just too good... Played the SV-1 a couple of days ago, and I've got to say, the pianos are just great. I was set on a Nord but came out of the store disappointed and confused. Can boring old Korg really do this stuff better? I'm starting to think so...
I'd like to hear someone do a demo of the sound pack #2 for the sv1. I heard they put a darker sounding Rhodes on it. Does anyone know if its more like a Herbie Hancock sample (early mark1)?
When are these company's gonna except defeat and join up with Scarbee. No matter how hard they try they'll never get it to that level. The sounds in this are ok at first.. but the more you listen the more it sounds fake and exaggerated. And Just like anything that makes a small splash, it fizzles out and is forgot by the public and the company. The said thing is I already know what to expect with Sv2. It'll be a slice of Kronos.
This man is a legend. I mean come on, he played on Off The Wall!
I love checking Greg out at the keyboard. Always just real good.

Master class, with a legend.

Yes I would love to learn how to play like that, the song in the beginning had me dancing and singing lol.
You the man Greg!!! Massive fan right here... All the way from New Zealand :)
I've had one for 5 years. Great Instrument.
@ZombiGrisGris The SV-1 has brand-new pianos, and also the original SG1D sample set. And yes, you can use the amplifier modeling section with any sound.
ahhhhh!!!! you make me tingle in my happy place!!! You are where I desire to be!

Thanks this is great stuff. Really enjoyed it.
damn, just saw his title in the thumbnail and thought "oh well, now i have to buy one"
Greg he is a really good keyboard player and He is my favourite person
The Groove that he plays is TIGHT
I like him; his got a style !
3:42 Love his style hahaha nice 😂🙏🏼
Greg's the absolute bomb!! I mean - that guy can PLAY 😀
The SV, however...

they spensive… even then

@1:39 lovely chords!
Great video! Great keyboard! Great pianist!!!!
This demo is by far the best because he demos the Rhodes EP better than the rest of the SV-1 videos
The eps sound great. I have changed my mind about this board. If GP says it's good, then it is!
Wow nice awesome keyboard player 😍
Take Em to church Greg!!!
Is this still the best of its kind ? SV-2 with the built in speakers is so cool 😎
Hi Transterra55, thank you for your comment (-:
I m going to look more for stride piano style now...
Awesome stuff!
@doronbendavid It sounds like the song "Nothing from Nothing" by Billy Preston. As far as style goes, it has a stride piano feel.
Greg is a monster!
Great keyboard

Scott Rogers SV-2 dreams came true! NAMM 2020
actually, this sounds really great on my stereo gear. noises just come from smartphones speakers.
0:28 awesome gospel progression
Yep, I would like the 73 key version. Hold onto one for me until I can afford it. lol
***** not as much as real rhodes ;) around 1600 € in france now.
Now it’s probably like 1200
Amazing keyboard...but we need a video-course to play like Greg...
Nice, but it's a shame this recording was clipping like hell in parts. It's not like you guys didn't listen to it before you uploaded.
No I think either your sound system or ears are broken. This video is mixed extremely well.
@@lesliesmithmusic9558 No leslie, from 1:40 certain parts were clipping.
I've been mixing music for 40 years!
Nice playing!
I like this guys playing style he is a bad dude !
I'm a new fan of Korg… Will have to look into these further… ☮🔥
Hi. This might be a stupid or pointless question but I'd love to know :
Is this the 73-key version or the 88 key version of the Korg SV-1 ?
Please note, Greg Phillinganes does not come as a standard option with this keyboard. It won't sound like this when YOU play it.
Great demo! What sort of amplification (if any) is being used after the keyboard?
Korg is the best
What is that amazing tune you are playing at 3.38?
Someone was asking what the music is at 5.06. I’d love to find it as well. It does sound like Billy Preston but I can’t see it from him. Can anyone help? Greg, are you there?
hey there, im definitely buying this one, i would like to know about the stand, looks cool and completes the vintage look, is this included with the sv1, or where can i buy it? thanks a lot
What is that piece at 5:06-5:42?? its beautiful! what style is that?
Hey Korg is this a brand new piano sample or is it more like a high-rez of the original SG1 sample? It sounds like a new one, but I really can't tell with UA-cam compression. And can you run the piano through the amp sims? I can't wait to get one of these babies.
He was music director for MJ's THIS IS IT tour at this time, gearing up for the road. How sad.
mattcastiglia it wasn’t him it was Michael Bearden
He's also all over Donald Fagen's 'The Nightfly'... just too good...

1 dos mais talentosos porem o mais cafona tecladista ja que tocava para o rei do melhor e pior da musica pop...suave!
ok...2:57....What song is that!!?!??!?! I love it! Shazam has NO idea....
Have you found out??? I have just watched this video and need it too!
naw...still no idea.
Sounds a bit like Michael Jackson. Not sure what song. Greg played with him for a while. Just a guess.
No idea what song, but it has a simple chord progression to "Keep the Faith"
Can you do a tutorial for the tune you play at the beginning :D
wow. this is the third time i've seen this video uploaded. what is the point?
Gettin down like Billy Preston bro....4real
I'd like to hear someone do a demo of the sound pack #2 for the sv1. I heard they put a darker sounding Rhodes on it. Does anyone know if its more like a Herbie Hancock sample (early mark1)?
Does anyone know the name of the tune @ 5:10 (funky as hell), and the tune @ 5:58 ??? Can't get the out of my head.
Does the Sv -1 have the Hammond organ and Moog Synt sound? And does it have any particular acoustic piano?
Why does the piano at the beginning sounds just like the microstation?
Can you connect Midi sounds to it?
Hey Greg or someone, i want to play all the MJ songs on my $60 casio lol...can you write the keys down and sell a book? ill buy it. thanks!
How many more models of keyboard does the world need?
None that sound like this.
My parents are asking themselves the same question because I have so many...
Darn you and your big hands! I can't reach a ninth :(
What is the effect called @ 2:32
the piano sounds kinda thin but the rest of the patches are nice
@KorgUSAVideos what is Greg's YOU TUBE Channel?
lol I kept replaying 0:40. xD
More like Greg Phalanges 😂 👍🏻
The very same pianist with the very same piano from Versace on the Floor.
SouljaSiIverQuaker he used a Yamaha Dx7 on that one
Zachary Chall-Hutchinson
Nah, it’s really the Korg SV1. Trust me.
Greg hasn’t covered that sound in the video, but it’s there.
play an organ patch greg
not sure which comments are real and which are marketing here
korg sp-500 is the best

It's nice, but the Roland V Combo blows it out of the water....
With apologies to Greg, this thing sounds like crap and looks like something from the Jetsons. Greg is definitely top notch though -- awesome!
Wow...you got much better ears then him
ray charles

well because clavia nord is very very, i mean very expensive? and not many people can afford it? like you?
this is a hotdog keyboard.
just dont try to play a doors song cause ITS GOT NO VOX!!!
Yeah it does.
why to buy this bullshit without vintage sound of Vox Continental and Farfisa?
NORD C2 IS MUCH BETTER
Roland sounds better
Not the best stage piano ive heard.
Well it is over 8 years old
Great player but dont like the sound of this instrument, its sounds verry cheap.
Most samplers have better sound.
