I was an attraction presenter on this ride. It was so much fun improvising the script with kids and seeing the excitement.
Ah that's so fun! Shame it wasn't open longer than it was
Universal studios had plans for a Pokémon land
It wasn't clear if there was going to be Pokemon or not, seemed to me it was always just Super Mario. Pokemon is much needed though
Theme parks rights for Pokémon are worn Six Flags now. Eww
This legit makes me sad. I wish I had the chance to attend all this stuff when I was a kid. There were hardly any events in Scotland at the time, except for the launch of the TCG. Its crazy how nostalgic I get for this stuff!
I went on that ride a few times when I was a kid. Always loved it. It was where the superman ride is today 😊
This is it!!! I had that same Pojo magazine way back in the day! Fantastic issue that revealed all the new "Neo" (gold/silver) pokemon, somewhat poorly hand-drawn from their sprites with Japanese names listed. I remember reading the article about the exhibit and assumed t was some sort of Pokemon Snap-style exhibit. I've thought about it every once in a while but similarly couldn't find a shred of evidence on it.
Wow. I think I had vaguely heard of a Warner Bros theme park, but it would make sense for a Pokémon attraction to have popped up at it, even if briefly. If there had been more parks, I wonder if they would have done the same. Love the look of the sets built for it.
Yo what’s up GatorEX!
Yup it was the best! I was 10 years old and an amazing experience. I’ve only realised now how unique this attraction was on our side of the world, back the. I thought it would be everywhere. What a trip down memory lane.
I love the Johto lofi mix you used for the music here
GameChops makes great music!
this would cool to be too! im big pokemon fan and this looks cool the mew would've been cool to have!
Awesome video and research ! I remember this ride and for many years could still see all the leftover Pokémon the movie signage they left up on the side of the warehouses from the lethal weapon ride !! Time flies
That is wild!
Interesting video! learned a bit more on our history with pokemon!
I visited this attraction as a kid, and have periodically been trying to find footage/discussion of it online for years, so this was a fun video to find. The one thing missing from your video is that the goodie bags also included a few little plastic tazo-like collectibles, each with one of the 151 Pokemon on them. They were triangle shaped and could clip together to form a little ball. You could collect more of them throughout the entire park while I was there -- one came slotted into the lid of a drink I bought, and so on.
Unfortunately I lost the ones I had as a kid, and I have never been able to find so much as a picture of them in the years since. I wish I still had them! Edit: Ah, this won't be some revelation as I see that the article in the magazine actually mentions them as well. They were pretty neat, it's a shame they're probably lost to time at this point.
I went to this. It was amazing. You were given a small check list to tick off when you saw the pokemon. I have a photo of me and pikachu lying around somewhere.
I went here as a kid and remember keeping the checklist they handed out for a long time.
wow thank you for this. i went on this ride. i even have a photo of me and pikachu in an album somewhere. i remember being so hyped for this ride. my family was on vacation in australia for the new year. this was easily my favourite part of the trip.
Another wonderfully researched video for us! Never even heard about this
I have ZERO memories of the event itself (I would've been maybe around 5(?) At the time) But I must have attended this!
For the longest time my family had a large framed photo of little kid me with that exact Pikachu mascot and backdrop!!
My Partner is a couple years older than me, and actually remembers the event a bit clearer (remembers picking up toys from the gift shop etc) and Also has a framed photo-op pic of he and his brother at the time.
We're both Aussie locals and really enjoyed seeing you cover this!! :)
Ah that's awesome! I wish there were some photos of the gift shop around, I bet it was awesome
Thank you so much for all the research you put into your videos! :) This is way too cool. I'm so glad you were able to find James' contact information, and that he was caring enough to reply back so many years after the project.
I live in Queensland and would go to movie world all the time, so I'm sad to hear this shut down before I was born.
Great video as always!
Holy Barbaracle, this looked awesome!!
Oh my, I've never heard of this but it looked pretty great!
Ahhh, there is an ad for this attraction on the Australian copy of the first Pokemon movie on VHS. I went to the attraction and was so young I could barely remember that I would watch the first part of the VHS everytime just to revisit it.
I have multiple copies but no VHS, if ever find a way to upload it I will get it to you as I was unaware it was lost media!! Its not a full walkthrough but it's such a fun little ad that goes through a lot of the attraction. If you can get your hands on an Aussie VHS copy from the year the movie released it'll be on the first 10 minutes of the tape!
Came across your channel yesterday while looking up Warner Bros. documentaries and I love it. Very good job on the research for this attraction. I think Kids WB showed something once about Pokémon Island Adventure and I think it was featured in a few other Pokémon magazines as well from the time. Definitely gonna check out your other Pokémon videos. Would of loved to have gone to this Pokémon attraction as a kid.
the fact that you put the extra effort into finding info for your vids and they are always so fun to watch, you deserve more views and interest for sure T_T loved thiss
I went to this as a kid and really enjoyed it. So the goody bag you got came with the ticket when you entered the park, so you had only one expedition guide. In my mind as a kid, that meant you were only allowed to go through the attraction once. They had a cast member chaperone us all through the attraction, stopping in each room. The cast member would point out each Pokémon and you’d tick off each one on your guide. There was some really basic animation on the Pokémon, like they’d move up and down, stuff like that.
So I went through once, ticked off all my Pokémon and had a good time. Went off and did other stuff at the park and wanted to go back in. I did, but I was afraid that I wouldn’t be allowed to, since all my Pokémon were already ticked off. But I still wanted to tick them off a second time. So I go in and I’m ticking off the Pokémon they point out, them a cast member comes up to me to see if I needed any help, but I thought he was going to kick me out if he saw my guide already ticked and I had a minor childhood terror moment, and I freaked out and hid my paper!
Yesssss you finally did it! 👏👏👏
I enjoy seeing all this man I wish I was born in 1991😅😅 Keep up the good work :)
Great video, Grace! I used to work at Movie World about 10 years ago and have a few friends that worked as performers there in the early 2000s. I think a friend of mine used to play Prof Oak during this time, so I’ll reach out and see if he has any footage of the show
Ah that'd be fantastic!
Hey, do you know if your friend found any footage? Would be so interesting to see it!
I remember this being advertised but I am far away from the theme parks and entirely missed it. I never got to go to the Pokemon movies either despite the hype.
I love videos like this. Great work!
I just found ur channel i love it!!
Welcome! 🥰
Wow I wish I could’ve been there for this, as a kid it probably would’ve blown my mind lol
Bro I didn't know they had THIS at a Warner bros park! I only really knew about the Gremlins Ride there! Also this might just be the video quality, but I think there is a Grimer in the background at 4:21!
That's a Grimer all right!
Thanks so much for making this! I can vividly remember my cousins going to this and I actually have the poster from that goodie bag on my wall right now! I'd given up hope there were any photos or info on it. I never got to see it so getting to see any of it, even twenty-something years on is so cool! If I recall correctly there was also a ball type thing you could clip together that had pictures of different Pokemon on it from the park?
In one hand, its kinda surprising this lasted for only 1 month.
But on the other, the Pokemon hype was starting to die off around late 2000, so I guess maybe they felt it wasn't as much of a loss to cut it that short compared to if it happened in... say... 1999 or early 2000
I rode this and remember a fair bit about it. Maybe I should make my own video
If you wanna do an interesting video though, do one on the Pokemon event Held in Sydney around 1999-2000 where they gave out the Pikachu celebration cards.
I remember visiting the shop when it was open (sadly the walkthrough was closed). Merch wasn't super interesting, but as a Pokemon fan I was loving it! I think I have some photos of it somewhere. I'll let you guys know if I find anything :)
Oh yes please do!
@@MewisMe700 I did some digging and finally found some video footage of the store! ua-cam.com/video/5eqaBItlJ2E/v-deo.html
I want to go back in time and save Kids WB
I miss the warner brothers store :( i have fond memories of the stores
OMG SAME. I bought a ton of Pokémon stuff from it as a kid. I wish there were more photos online of the store lol
Pokémon live ??
I don't plan on doing a Pokémon Live video because Chadtronic already did a very detailed one!
I found some footage of the Pokemon store they had at Movie World in my families home videos: ua-cam.com/video/5eqaBItlJ2E/v-deo.html
This was after the walkthrough closed, but the store remained open. You can see many of the models from the walkthrough used as decorations!
AH WOW. Thank you so much for sharing. What amazing footage. Neat to see they did use the little statues for decoration haha
@@MewisMe700 My pleasure! Hopefully someone with uncover a home video of the attraction itself someday. It's gotta be out there!
If ur in Australia (like me) I actually went there
I'm not sadly, wish I could have seen it!
