- on Reassembly the tools required are 3/8 socket and wrench, 5/8 wrench, T20 torx bit, feeler gauges and a regular screw driver a 1/4 inch allen wrench and a inch pound torque wrench that goes to 220 inch pounds.
Geeat video, it was very helpful! There is a valve cover gasket available for these engines. Makes the job a bit easier, and you can test the engine without waiting for gasket maker to dry.
Nice job! Things came together just like the plan!
Thank you
Great job demonstrating
Great video - you made it look easy - I'll bet there will be some cussing involved when I do it though

Engine struggled to start first time but started. Issue was resolved. Second time it didn’t start. Think it might have something to do with the steel and aluminum rods. Not sure if I did that right
I got a gasket set on ebay for $10 including the valve cover gasket.
Where would a person find those line up dowels? At the age of 62, i now understand my fathers’ statement, “work smarter, not harder”!
TIA
Make them out of long bolts
That’s what i was thinking. Thanks again
They looked like regular dowel pins but I didn't look close as mine stayed in the engine. You just need to find the dia. and length. Just guessing about 1/4 x 3/4 but could also be 5/16 dia. Steel dowel pins are very accurate diameters and hardened. You won't be cutting them with anything other that a cut off wheel so try to get the right size.
I did everything like you did but the engine seems tighter it wont start now I did have a bad head gasket.
You likely didn't set your valve clearance properly
Any chance some jb weld would keep the head gasket sealed ?
I wouldn't try it.
Thank you!
What’s that tool to set the intakes ?
Feeler gauges
She’s alive!
It is truly wonderful to have mechanical experience!!
I was very lucky to have grown up on a farm working with junk equipment, a good way to learn.
