Gotta say, as a vet myself, the clones line and look hit me in the feels. Almost to real.
I've seen plenty of vets like that. Been there, myself.
Relax boomer
@@carrillofrank07 how do you know he’s not relaxing?
You and me both, Brother.
@@account527 The "unpopular" ones.
Hardly matters when you, your brothers, and your cause, are all deemed "expendable".
Everytime I see that scene I can't help but tear up and just imagine the clone saying "Thank you General."
Would've been so cool if the Clone had recognized him
The clones were truly the most tragic characters out of all the Clone Wars era characters. Just imagine being created and raised to fight in a war that was purposely engineered to allow a Sith to take control of a Republic and turn it into an Empire. Imagine having no voice and free will to protest fighting in what was essentially a sham war that did nothing but ruin a galaxy.
“Help a veteran get a warm meal…”
Even in a galaxy far far away
Here you go 🥧
Here have some soup 🍲!!
Hit very real
Yes, of course! Any time!
“He’s a soldier, he deserves better”
Even with the clones murdering the Jedi and some of my favorite characters. Seeing that trooper broken and discarded, begging in the streets. It truly hurts my heart, makes my think of a lot of my classmates from high school sold the lie of the US military. A few of them came back just as broken and have been discarded in much the same way, and those were the 'lucky' ones that got to come back at all.
Yea really unfortunate to see those who serve comeback with little to nothing in return for their service or they comeback with some series PTSD. Real tragic for anyone who would serve and return broken in many ways
Only the dead have seen the end of war.
Was it REALLY murder? Did they premediate the killing? NO. They were activated to commit an order that they were programmed for.
It was the a Killing, a Slaughter...not a murder. Dont dare call them murderers words matter lol
@@Nperez1986 I suppose you could say Papa Palpatine was the murder and the clones where his chosen weapon. With that kind of tech I'd bet that would hold up in a court room.
"Sold the lie"?
And why are they discarded when you clearly know of them and could help them? As an OIF veteran, that irks me to no end.
Those homeless bums are the lucky ones. The clones who remained with the Empire either continue on to commit war crimes, are sent as cannon fodder against the Jedi, or are made into early-bird Dark Troopers, typically against their will.
lol how is that the worst? have you ever been homeless?
@@army310 I'm pretty sure PTSD, being used as cannon fodder, and being forcibly turned into a robot is worse.
care who you call a homeless bum. With no work history they had no chance.
@@xTK421x And they were the lucky ones. Those who stayed with the Empire had far darker fates.
That’s scary
That has had to be my favourite scene in Obi-wan, the unpolished sword of the Republic was blunt and unkept, rather than the sharpness of clone troopers, the empire preferred the blunt force of mass numbers and conscripts. It's sad to see my favourite and many other's part of star wars tossed aside in the imperial era, alongside the beliefs of the Jedi being trampled on by Palpatine's cunning
Guys writing PEE paragraphs out here
Kenobi was well known general during the Clone Wars. I am surprised the veteran didn't chant "Good soldiers follow orders" when he saw Kenobi.
Chip probably wore off or only had a certain lifespan.
Might be on drugs and couldn't even recognize him
There is a glint in his eye almost like he does recognize him. The video s says he is 501st so he could easily have seen Obi-Wan with Anakin on missions
I think it probably has a few different triggers of sorts. remember when Wolffe almost went ballistic in rebels upon a light saber being ignited, despite knowing the Jedi are cool, and having had some treatment of the chip, even if clearly not the full package. I think it's like it overwrites your mind, but it cannot always be doing that, it kinda needs reminders and triggers for it. Like initially during the great Jedi purge, all clones who received the order were 100% being controlled by the chip, that's why their personalities are almost completely swept away for that time, barely even bubbling up when prompted (example, the whole Jesse thing in the hangar). However after it's done it partly retreats in the clones mind, how fully and how the differences between individual clones work, idk but it does I think, and it's fully re-activated when a trigger for that clone appears, such as something directly connecting to the presence of a Jedi, not as that person, but specifically as a Jedi.
so basically my theory is that the clone recognised Obi-Wan, but due to the programming being so far back in his mind, and him not recieving a trigger (like if Ben started talking about Jedi stuff and ignited his lightsaber in front of the clone) he didn't go full order 66. At that moment he saw obi wan as not a Jedi, the people who he has directives to eliminate, but as someone who fought same as him.
@@zipflik7887 wolffe’s not a good example he removed his chip before then so that’s probably more the chip imprinting something than a blip of activation
The clone troopers reminds me of the Vietnam war veterans of my dad's generation. They came back to civilian life, only to not fit in and having a hard time getting jobs since their main craft was fighting.
My god that feels so accurate! 💔
You can also tell that the tragic pursuit of individuality.... becoming a Name, not a Number, would be a cornerstone of any Clone's long-term survival once abandoned by the Empire.
The rabid pursuit of conformity from the New Order and First, Order, reducing Stormtroopers to their Operating Number, rather than any Name is part of the "Lessons Learned" from the Clone Army and implemented in War Mantle's transition.
It will be interesting to see if the Clone Rebellion is reused and becomes Canon. The ball for that is in the Bad Batch's court.
Man do I feel bad for the clone troopers as they were tossed to the side.
The Clone and Droid armies got the shortest stick in the Clone Wars. Even the Jedi faired better.
they were children tossed aside by parents who no long had a use for them.
Not all of them.
They were see as tools and thrown aside as broken and/or outdated tools, treated as little more than droids made of meat, and that is the sad thing, for we know they were living being like any other person, even if they were geneticly changed, they were still people.
They are just as victims of this war as Jedi.
The first few episodes of "bad batch" season 1 shows a good example of how the Clones was "altered" after the inhibitor chips was activated, they basically became uncaring and robotic in a sense.
Just like my great great grandmother generation, after serving for years in hell and trenches, millions of men left alone to die. Most of them she knew from her village would die from neglect and poverty 10 to 15 years after the war ended in 1918. This hits hard becuse ot happens now too.
When i saw that Clone. I thought of all the homless Vets across North America. I'm glad they represented that there.
Imagine if the clone said:
"Thanks general" 😭
Imagine him saying it in the most normal most clone-line voice possible. Dude just saying "thankyuh general" like nothing was wrong.
I still think a big reason why the Empire failed was because they completely got rid of clone troopers. I understand cutting expenses, however you could keep a million troopers on standby for great conflicts. The clones would have decimated the Rebellion. Granted they would be fighting organics vs droids but the Rebels did not have the training clones did.
Also in order to cut costs, you could research a way to only have accelerated aging up to a certain point. Then it continues naturally. That way clones can serve longer, have a future, and be able to retire.
I remember one trooper in the EU that survived well after the Empire's time because he was in some kind of stasis and ended up joining up with bounty hunters. I don't recall if he ever found it but he was always searching for a cure to his accelerated aging.
@@KeishinB237 clone tropper Kix
Sorry but the Empire's failing had very little to do with the getting rid of the clones ... Had everything to do with the fear, backstabbing, glory seeking, gross incompetence and general nonsupport within the ranks themselves ... Why help a fellow officer if their downfall or death would help in upward mobility in the ranks for yourself ??? Plus all the clones still had those bio chips in their heads with all the other contingecy orders Palatine had put in them ... Wouldn't be good if someone could turn your army against you ... The Jedi found that out the hard way remember ???
Having a Clone army would be far too expensive, having a Clone based special forces would be a better idea, but a reasonably experienced bounty hunter posse would out perform that and they wouldn't require upkeep.
@@orphancrippler9526 It's funny how the galaxy's best bounty hunter was also a clone though...
ive been waiting for someone to do a video like this. You are one of the best in the game
Great video. What happened with the clone troopers is the greatest tragedy of Star Wars.
My God was I getting choked up during this. I'm such a nerd.

Fives is my favorite of the clones and his story arch ends in such a wild way. He was so close to discovering something so critical to Palpatine's plan that it had me at the literal edge of my seat during the series. I salute you UA-cam version ARC-5555!
the clones have always been my favorite part of star wars. their story is the most interesting, tragic and thought-provoking (to me at least). part of my love for them is also in that they feel like the only part of star wars that is truly science-fiction.
That's an interest way to look at it. Back before the Prequels came out, I was fascinated by the Clone Wars as a concept. In the books, there were only vague references and confusing accounts about what happened. Just a moment ago, I tried to verify which OIFs I had taken part in, only to find the terminology I was using doesn't match the readily available information. This makes the Empire's rise make so much more sense than it used to, both canon and legends. Makes the good writing feel so much more real, the evil so much more ominous.
@@Deridus yea, exactly man. the concepts the clone wars presents has a very Dune-esque feel to them, which gives Star Wars a lot more depth than it would have without it. and my bad if i’m misunderstanding, but when you mention OIF are you referring to Iraqi Freedom? only asking because my dad served as well and i have to give my appreciation to a veteran.
@@yocharlysurf Yup. Operation Iraqi Freedom from july of 2008 to may of 2009. Long story short, I got there late because I was a replacement and left early because President Bush and/or Obama shortened the deployments from 15 to 12 months. My tour overlapped two different phases/campaigns so I got two stars. Radio repair. I'd rather have stayed in country than ever have returned to garrison. Spent a year in Fort Drum doing nothing but playing spades, dominos, risk, and working out. If ever there was an Avatar of Boredom, it was me.
@@Deridus lmao, sounds like you managed to have some fun through it all, major respect man.
@@yocharlysurf You could say that. The most "fun" I ever had was the day I had a crash landing on Turky Day, 2008. Sounds more dramatic than it was, but it was the whole day that mattered.

@@simplemanboba officially there wasnt a clone rebellion on kamino, unofficially the 501st stormtrooper division was sent out with bounty hunter boba fett to put down a rebellion led by the kaminoan's clone programmed to rebel against the empire
@@blus17 Nice reference lol
In Rome, when a legion (members of which were usually recruited at the same time) finished it's term of service, the surviving members were each given land in the same area of a conquered territory, and were allowed to keep all of their armour and weapons. This meant if there was an invasion or uprising, there was a large contingent of trained legionaries, seasoned on the battlefield together, and loyal to the Roman Empire, to act as a local militia to deal with the issue. The benefits of this should be pretty obvious. The Galactic Empire would have done well to have used this same tactic. They may have even shut down the rebel scum early if they had.
Yet they barely thought ahead, and fully replaced the clones with Civilian soldiers. If I ran the empire: I would've had the special forces units entirely made up of newer Fett Clones and Clones from other excellent human fighters.
Problem is the Fett genotype was degrading according to the Kaminoans. We saw that in the Bad Batch. You notice that the clones tend to be worse and worse as the clone wars seasons go on. They were practically super soldiers in Season 1-2 then turned into cannon fodder towards the end
@@jackschuller6684 I can't seem to grasp the reason why the Kaminoans didn't just search for a new genetic template. I'm sure Cad Bane would be fine with volunteering.
@@orphancrippler9526 honestly the idea of an army of Cad Bane clones sounds awesome
In Legends there was mention of other clone lines, with the Fett clones being but one of many diverse batches.
Quite why Disney canon went with the idea that there can only be Fett clones is anyone’s guess.
Maybe there’s a galactic shortage of bounty hunters so lazy they have other bounty hunters do their jobs for them.
This is where Star Wars meets the grim reality of Blade Runner...
I loved Alan's film noir voiceover at the beginning of the video.
While some clones are begging on the streets for some credits and scraps, hundreds and thousands of millions of Battle Droids are being scrapped, melted and reused as parts for Star Destroyers.
This is very emotional video.
Sometimes hollywood gets reality correct and art imitates life.
The clones deserve better maybe in the Kenobi serious the Clones on the street will fight alongside the rebels
I liked the narrative style of the first part of the video.
Rex deserted the republic shortly before it became the empire, then the bad batch deserted.
Very very interesting stuff, great video, definitely hope to see more Clone lore videos in the future. They are one of my highest interests in the Star Wars universe.
Clones is so many fans favorite character, and thats freakin awesome.
Phase 1 clones: heroic guardians
Phase 2 clones: have eaten bees
Great story telling, good job
I remember when I first watched episode 3 the thing that made me really sad was the clones turning on the jedi
Great narration ar the beginning. beautiful
7:27 were the clones really genetically altered tho? Filoni and Lucas depiction of the clones in TCW has them appear as normal people. This painting of the clones as normal people is what forced Filoni/Lucas into the inhibitor chip story.
The accelerated aging is part of the genetic alteration. The inhibitor chip just made them unable to disobey a specific list of orders by Palpatine, whether they wanted to or not.
Very cool and very emotional nice job!
Allen, I would definitely buy any audiobook narrated by you, even if it were just „Green Eggs and Ham“.
Man, the first 0:00 - 3:11 part made me tear up 😔
The best fighting force just discarded.
“Spare change, spare change ma’am?”
What about the bounty hunters who were training the clones??? They just took there last credits and left??? No questions asked??? Or where there objections?
Well that’s part of being a merc. You aren’t paid to ask questions, you’re paid to fight, or to train others how to fight. Mercs fighting for a just cause or for the care in their heart is very rare. Their job was to make sure the clones could fight, after that it wasn’t their concern
As much as this might not fit in to lore, I think it would’ve been neat if, after Kenobi walked away, the clone sighed and said to himself “I’m so sorry, General.”
The clone loved the war, because they got to fight a long side their brothers but after the war they got put to the side line. What a shame that the best fighting force got put to the side because palpatine was cheap
they eat dolphins.
btw, Allen. A well researched video on the clones.
peace all.
For The Republic!!!!!!
I thought they remained in the 'forces', as slowly conscripts and volunteers replaced them into the Imperial Era. EA had a 'Battlefield' game dedicated to the 501st which claimed this.
That was the original Battlefront 2, and it was made by Pandemic and LucasArts, not EA.
@@dylanlewis5113 : Ahh, my mistake.
Even in the original Battlefront 2, the clones of Vader's Fist mentioned how most clones were phased out and the 501st were the last ones left. "Though the 501st itself remained pure, the rest of the Imperial Army gradually became more and more diverse. We never really got used to the new guys."
Very good episode.
As Ezra pointed out, the Clone Troopers, the Jedi and the CIS all lost the Clone Wars. The Empire defeated them all.
Except the Empire didn’t defeat them. The clones served the Empire and instated the order. Ezra despite being right about a decent amount of aspects was absolutely in the wrong about his conception of the Empire taking power.
@kingorange7739 The Clones were tools as much as maul or dooku. They were used and tossed aside, so yeah, they lost to the Empire. The Orders implemented in their brain stripped them of all free will, made them victims as much as the ones they victimized.

I always Look forward to watching them every week
I remember the 501st being vader's fist but i guess that's just legends now. Really sad.
Your channel is the best and I'm generation tech
Dude I love the narration you have a great voice
The clone troopers where the best soldiers in the Star Wars universe IMO. They had both the battle intelligence and skills needed to complete their missions and battles. They deserved much more respect after the Clone Wars ended.
Also, the Jedi had it coming. We don't need a bunch of space cultists operating outside the rule of law in order to fulfill their own dogma.
I would've loved to have seen (and would've improved upon the show) the Clone Trooper recognize Obi Wan and continue to fulfill his allegiance to the Republic and the Jedi by assisting him in finding Leia. Perhaps giving his last to protect him against the Grand Inquisitor as Obi Wan and Leia made their escape.
Could you please make a video about all the different kinds of spices that can be bought in world of Star Wars?

First of all, loved that scene in Kenobi for a lot of reasons, most of which you talked about in the video. That being said, do you think it was a poor choice to use a clone from the 501st? I thought it was still canon that the 501st continued to be Vader’s fist until they all eventually died and were replaced by non-clone soldiers. If that is still true, then the only way that a 501st clone could end up like the one in Kenobi is if he got too old, but besides being out of shape that clone looks like he still has a couple years left.
During the war they could fly a gunship, drive a tank. They were in charge of million credit equipment. Now, they can't hold a job parking speeders!
Thanks!

The one reason that's not talked about for phasing out the clones is that control chip. How much is any Sith Lord going to trust soldiers that they KNOW have programming chips in their brains, made by a third party?
That's why I don't like the lore about Palpatine having an ex-clone trooper as a guard. He'd always suspect that the Kaminoans might have hid some other tricks in that chip. That they could compromise the clones to get at him after he turned on them after the clone wars. I think the Emperor would DEEPLY distrust the clones, they were a necessary risk right up until order 66, then they were nothing but a liability. TBH I think the only reason he didn't mass execute them as soon as he was done with them was he still had to keep the senate on board at that time.
The Clones know how the SA Brown Shirts felt in post 1934.
What about the droid attack on the wookies?
It's funny how the Jedi accepted this randomly built army.
But after Order 66, Palpatine kicks them to the curb to create a new third army.
