Watched both of your videos over and over again and within about a month and a half to two months I can fight DMD bosses without taking damage and rarely touching the ground! Thank you for such an amazing guide, and for your guide for Nero as well.
Wow, this video brings back memories, i have been playing DMC4 and mastering combo for 5 years and this is one of the first video that I watch in order to learn how to combo. Thanks for the great video
I learned how arrogant I can be from this. I honestly thought that the combo from 2:00 to 2:12 was easy until I actually tried it. I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to make this video to help others get better at this great game. As a long time fan of the series I want you to know that this is greatly appreciated. I thought simply beating the game was good enough but you helped give me a challenging goal to work towards again. Thank you.
What is that back step on 2:01? If hes not on Trickster or equipped Gilgamesh using draw then...how do you do that back step? I can only jump backwards
I watched this video in 2012 when I first got DMC4 and I had a hard time doing more than 3 attacks in the air with an enemy before both me and the enemy land but now I can juggle enemies in the air for a long time. I did one combo the other day where I was in the air for like 30 seconds with an enemy stringing together different attacks with all weapons. This video has helped me so much, I’m no Donguri but I’m definitely way better than I was when I first found this video
Hello, i know this is probably waaaay too late but i remember playing dmc4 on console and watching your vids, but these combos were just too difficult to practice without the debug menu. So now that i have a good pc i downloaded the game and i am ready to finally master it (: thanks for these amazing tutorials!
Ironically, having just finished DMC1 for the first time, I definitely feel Dante in that game is way closer to Nero in DMC4 than his future self. Young Dante and Nero both use only a couple ground combos for different situations (for example, Red Queen Combo B and Million Stab are both for wailing hard on one or two isolated enemies), both use High Time to just make vertical space and stop enemies from surrounding them -- as opposed to DMC4 Dante, who uses it to set up long damaging combos -- and both really only use their guns to deal some chip damage or control their falling speed (or an enemy's falling speed). I feel this is why 0:40 happens, the player has already fallen into a rather familiar fighting style by this point. Dante should have been a separate story mode you can choose at the beginning, rather than someone who shows up halfway through
While I don't disagree with most of this, Nero has much more use for his gun. You should be readying Charge Shot 3 at all times. It can do incredible damage, set up air combos, delay a finishing blow for a stylish taunts. That's just at a beginner level. On console I remapped his gun to R2 (PS3/4) so I can hold it down while doing any part of Nero's moveset. It takes a bit of getting used to though. Especially learning to let go of the lock on without letting go of the charge shot. Same as learning to switch from a snatch to a Buster really. Seriously, CS3 is probably the most versatile single ranged attack in the series. It's one simple move that can do so much.
Man this game was tough. Im ashamed to admit this was my first DMC game and i remember going from Nero and his straightforward style into Dante and alll his shinnanigans was super jarring and felt overwhelming but soo satisfying too once you begin to learn stuff
you know what, in school went i tried to write an article for a homework. i asked the teacher that if i could right a tutorial for game. She and the whole class laughed at me and said there is already in the game itself. It did bothered me. A lot. Now i see that i'm not the only one that think it's possible for this :)

This has got me pumped to get back into DMC4 and Bayonetta. At the start of your video, I was definitely one of those "average players" that would stick to one Style (Royal Guard), and make do. The only stylish Dante you'll see me play as so far is MvC3 Dante. Time to change that.
How long did it take you to get to this kind of level? I was one of those players who stuck to a certain style, and only flicked to Trickster to get out of trouble... or maybe some gunslinger to do huge pandora damage. I had no idea about JCing.. @chaserthewolf You may not be exactly as good as him, but I love your playing style and you're one of the best players I've seen so far, with both Dante and Nero. You don't need much to keep up with his1 in my opinion.
Automatic is designed to do everything by itself. Jump canceling is pretty much impossible and if you're talking about the combo's in the videos, I would say they are probably as impossible. You have to play on normal mode to do any of the advanced things.

Having gotten S's on every difficulty in DMC3 and having gotten really good with Dante there, I found DMC4 Dante to be a huge upgrade. Being able to switch between the 4 styles on the fly is such an amazing thing to have at your disposal as a DMC player and basically made Dante's half of DMC4 a cakewalk even on DMD difficulty. I do miss Agni and Rudra though, my favorite weapon to combo with Rebellion.

@IBlunts yeah exactly. and I havent even beaten the game on Dante Must Die yet I'm only on Mission 15, so i'm still switching off between both characters pretty frequently. guess i should finish DMD and hell mode before I get started on Bp
@TROUBLEMAKERexe yeah, it really just takes practice. I just learned his advanced guide for Nero, got an S rank in all of his missions on Dante Must Die now, one is ranked 45th. Trust in the video and you'll learn
I agree with your view in certain degree, and especially some DMC4 players tend to be very exclusive and take false pride in their skills. This discourages developing players from practicing new things like introduced in this video (like there's a clear line between experienced players vs rookies in DotA) which is very bad.
The game is made to have a lot of replayability. I personally really enjoy the game, and I have almost all of the skills, I need to play a bit more and I will have them. I'm only missing 2 skills I don't use any way. And getting SSS in automatic is easy because the game plays for you, all you have to do is spam a single button most of the time, but playing normally requires really fast fingers and a lot of practice. It's really hard, but it can be really fun as well.
Not going to lie, as a veteran player I usually stick to one style to use (Swordmaster, obviously) and stick with the weapons that to significant amount of damage. I'll try to play him more often to get better again since it's been a while since I played him.
There's a new "Devil may Cry" game made by Ninja Theory and it is specifically designed for causal gamers. I actually think it's a cool game except I have some disagreements about certain points and I'm sure you will find that game entertaining as well.
You need to make sure you're positioning yourself correctly. The best way to practice is on Frosts since they have a pretty big hurtbox. Scarecrows are finicky since they are harder to JC against and they are kinda small.
Ok thanks! Also, I'm playing on the console and it's a serious bitch to try and practice without debug mode. Where would you say would be the best place to practice for me?

How can i do that on purpose? Btw Nice Tutorial, thanks to you i can use flying guard now ^^ Next step is are the reverse attacks.

am playing dmc4 using the keyboard...is it possible to master these techs without the use of a controller?
and one subscriber has been added to you :)
@chaserthewolf you've probably answered this plenty of times, but i'm trying to beat bloody palace and i'm not sure which character to sit down with and practice and master to do it with. since your videos prove you've mastered both, who would you recommend for it?
can you make video tutorial about royal guard?
i think it would be nice :)
You can always get a wired controller. Even if it doesn't say it on the Steam page it has full controller support.
