    On a real note, i'm surprised people don't know a whole bunch of these. The Blitz one being done with Omen is HUGE. Learned it from you on stream. Learned a lotta new stuff here, as well.

    Nero is just easier to play with, and you actually have time to learn his moveset and how to deal with the enemies as the game presents them to you one by one. Then halfway through you're forced to use another character, much harder to master. It's like, when you're about to master Nero's gameplay, you have to learn Dante when the game turns up the difficulty. I think it's a poor design choice, but the game is great anyway; the player has to accept that they can't be that good at the game after just one playthrough

  • @kauasantos4818
    @kauasantos4818 2 місяці тому +4

    people become very dependent on the devil bringer, so when they change to a character that doesn't have a button that makes the game play itself, they either don't like it or say it' bad.
    But Dante has an arsenal, how about trying it out

  • @soulcyclone360
    @soulcyclone360 7 місяців тому +7

    I think in regards to DMC4 it's not necessarily that Dante or Nero are badly designed in anyway, it's the enemies that are the main problem.
    They were designed to highlight Nero's gimmicks as to separate him from Dante, but they over did it. They are very one note (outside of their compatibility with Nero obviously), so instead of simply highlighting his differences they made them an essential aspect of his game play and made them revolve around his design and kit, which inadvertently excludes Dante from a chunk of game play that's not meant for him. Dante not having things that are directly comparable to Nero's kit is fine on its own (DMC5 is proof of this fact), but when the enemies have most their own design centred on one specific character then the need for an entirely different set of player skills becomes apparent, skills that were likely not learned before switching to Dante.
    I know that Dante has a bunch of counter play methods for all the enemies in DMC4, more complex methods than Nero but that isn't really an issue at high level play, the problem is getting to that high level without outside assistance or guidance is an uphill battle. Nero's kit was made a certain way in order to not just be a second Dante and was meant to be more beginner friendly but then you throw Dante in the mix, who is far less beginner friendly, to fight enemies that were over designed with another characters moves in mind. Newcomers to DMC and to the genre in general are less likely to have fun with a character who has no similar counter play to enemies like a different character has when the enemies were mostly designed around that character to begin with, and thus they are much less likely to experiment with game and get good with Dante by their own practice. Beginner Dante and optimal Dante are two very different creatures and only one of them doesn't have massive issues with enemies, but the likelihood that players will graduate from beginner to optimal on their own is extremely low due to the games preference to Nero over Dante.
    A game shouldn't expect a player to rely almost solely on outside sources to be able to play effectively. Experimenting with your tools is great when the feed back is either oblivious or easily repeated without much struggle. A good example being the basic launcher moves in all DMC games, you can test them repeatedly and safely on each individual enemy to see if they can be launched into the air with it without much risk to the player and it can be done multiple times in quick succession without much hassle to confirm that the outcome is repeatable. Mastering a game should be a struggle, obviously, but learning a game shouldn't.

    • @CurayziDante
      @CurayziDante  7 місяців тому +6

      That's a fair way to look at it.
      The enemies of 5 would've worked in 4 as they are much less difficult to deal with, and 4 enemies would've been more fitting in dmc5 since the characters have OBVIOUS ways to deal with everything.
      D4nte has ways to deal with every enemy in the game, but it's still difficult to excute during large encounters, and needs lotta experimenting to find the proper way to use it
      So ofc the casual experience that lacks experimenting and high execution would struggle and call him ill equipped, which is simply wrong.
      The game should be criticized for not pushing/showing the player how to use dante efficiently, not critistize he's ill equipped to handle the enemies.
      The flaws are undoubtedly there, but the way of expression used most of the time is ignorant and disrespectful.

    • @soulcyclone360
      @soulcyclone360 7 місяців тому +4

      @@CurayziDante exactly, D4nte is a very well designed character with a massive skill ceiling that few other games in general can reach and if you lifted his design, exploits and all, into another game with more well rounded enemies the people who rant about him being under developed would change their tune in a heart beat.
      Only change that I can think of would be to either completely axe the Pandora meter or make it so that it fills from using any gun and Gunslinger attack, it would at least encourage new players to use guns more often instead of focusing solely on melee combat and would allow them to see the value of Gunslinger more often naturally.

    I think I figured out why people think the game wasn’t designed around Dante, missions 13/14 have the worst combination of enemies and worst gimmicks that probably makes people hate Dante.
    Having enemies that are spawned in already buffed with chimeras is already bad and they’re also Assaults and you’re in for a bad and unfun time.
    After these missions I’m guessing people would probably be fed up and try to rush Dante’s section which would make them have an even worse experience.

    i have a friend who streamed a playthrough of DMC 3 and 4 a number of months ago, and he had a *horrible* time with the cutlasses. I didn't know much about the game myself, so i wasn't of much help.
    In the past, that friend had also made a stream (attempt) at Cuphead. Largest viewer turnound he ever had, but sadly a good number of them were backseaters and they kept spamming "USE CHARGE SHOT! USE CHARGE SHOT! IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!"
    Ruined his fun on the stream at the time, but the "USE CHARGE SHOT!" became an ironic meme in his little community.

    DMC4 has a lot of problems, but I always felt the criticism of Dante being "ill-equipped" to handle the enemy roster was just unfounded. He's just harder to use because he has a ton more options than Nero, who has everything he could ever need baked into one straightforward moveset. For example, Dante can directly attack Blitz's shield with physical attacks and then do a well-timed Royal Block to negate the damage. So, a perfectly valid method would be to just punch the shield with Gilgamesh and then block every shock that happens afterward. Darkslayer is also really good for destroying Angelo shields, too.
    Dante's really good, he just demands a lot more dexterity and awareness.

    • @CurayziDante
      @CurayziDante  Рік тому +2

      Ofc
      If you have 4 moves, you'll use all 4 until you know which ones works on an enemy
      If you have 38 moves, most people wont try all of them every single time they meet a new enemy to see which ones works
      Clealry not the game's fault lol.
      Only issue with 4 (gameplay wise and not the story because thats debetable) is doing same levels twice.
      Then again dmc1 and dmc3 had you backtrack the same enviroments halfway trough the game with minor changes in enviroment/puzzles/combat and no one bitched about it.

    • @Kommunicate27
      @Kommunicate27 5 місяців тому

      @@CurayziDante even though backtracking is present in dmc 3, the progress still felt forward because you either backtracking to an area that you haven't explored, getting a necessary item, or just doing a short backtracking.
      Dmc 4 right off the bat you have to backtrack the area with a timer (mission 12), and then backtrack through the FUCK OFF fog maze while trying to get captured by these annoying spiky blob enemies (mission 13 & 14 i think?). Imo these starting missions for Dante really sours the rest of the missions and my experience for me. For a first playthrough the enemies can feel rough mainly because the Devil Arm order sucks, i think getting Lucifer or Pandora would have been better first even Darkslayer is okay too since it's the best CC weapon in the game, lucifer is the fastest weapon on neutral and can deal most gimmick enemies in the game same with pandora but then you get gilgamesh which doesnt do well on it's own against gimmick enemies, so alot of the first playthrough gets a bad rep with the enemies design which is not the case.
    Anyways i was here to see how the cutlass are dealt with, my problem with cutlass is that they're very hard to isolate and displace when they're on a group since their gimmick is being underground and there's no move in the game that takes them out of their position so the difficult part of this enemy is managing all 3 at ones, i think they're easy when you are fighting one at a time, so the strength of this enemy is it's number.

That being said, it is dumb when people ignore the actual problems with this game. Backtracking isn’t as big of an issue, gimmicks are. Multiple characters sharing stages and bosses in SE isn’t an issue, *that fucking platforming section with Nero that makes you fight enemies if you fall is. To this day it still gives me shit.* lol. Wish this game was finished, but it could have been infinitely worse given its development.

  • @Darkseany
    @Darkseany 2 місяці тому

    For the "flying sword things" (Gladius), the optimal way to kill them is to stand your ground and wait for them to turn back into swords and begin their spinning animations when they target you for attack. THEN, before they fly at you, use airtrick shotgun or just jump and shotgun, ideally aiming for the hilt of the blade. They take far more damage in this state. And moving around less or at least keeping your camera straight and more or less stationary as you move will make their spinning animations start faster and often in sequence with each other since the camera isn't all over the place.
    When done correctly, they will always die in one hit, which makes these enemies even more trivial than chimera.
    Shooting them while they are still flying around in "bird form" at full health often just lanches them away, making you have to waste time chasing them around.
    Additionally, they always drop white orbs for DT, so for extra efficiency as well as passive healing, you can use your DT while doing this without really losing any bar.

      For instance, Royal Releasing an incoming gladius is an instant kill in vanilla even with no RG bar.
      In SE, royal releasing an incoming gladius does the redirect animation.
      I understand why they made that change, so vergil can have a way to beat Agnus window in M6.
      Other changes i can think of atm is berial using his AoE Explosions if you stay too close to him in SE, whereas in vanilla he only did it depending on his HP and/or stun, resulting in SE Berial exploding waaaay more often than vanilla berial.
      Yada yada.

    I comment this on another channel and thought it was good, I wonder if you’ll agree with my take.
    It isn’t that Dante is bad, it’s just that his entire 7 missions are bad and have stupid gimmicks that drag them out even longer, and they’re also just back tracking so the fatigue really starts to set in and probably make you play worse by the time you get to him.
    I personally don’t have trouble playing Dante I average A/S ranks with him but that doesn’t mean I find his missions fun, and the only reason I don’t have trouble with him is because I have hundreds of hours playing Dante across all the games I can’t imagine how newcomers would play him nor can I imagine them having any fun.
    The skill floor in dmc4 in general is just much higher than it is in the previous games stack that on top of the garbage enemy design and the game falls apart.
    Dmc3 had its fair share of really bad enemies maybe even the worst in the series, (not as bad as chimera tho) but dmc3 also had the seven hells and has some of the most fun missions in the series and it only gets better with style switching.
    Dmc4 is a downgrade compared to dmc3 in every way other than mechanical complexity and advanced tech, they nerfed the hell out of Dante’s styles and cut his moveset in half then proceeded to give him Nero’s campaign but backwards, my boy Dante got done dirty in this game.

    • @CurayziDante
      @CurayziDante  3 місяці тому

      Oh yeah definitely, dmc4 is half baked
      i just find "backtracking is bad" and "enemies not designed for dante" to be stupid arguments
      Backtracking exists in dmc1, 2 and 3
      It existing in 4 too is not the issue, the issue is the re-use of the same bosses, that's where dmc4 is half baked, dante doesn't have unique bosses
      As for complexity and tecc, dmc4 still has the highest ceiling of any dmc for combos, but unless you're on PC and you mod your void for that, it's redundant
      80% of dmc4 enemies require efficiency, and they'll punish you for styling
      It's stupid to have a high ceiling for combos and style with enemies that require efficiency
      DMC1 and 3 have a mediocre combo/styling ceiling, but it doesn't matter cuz the games are about efficiency and strategy
      DMC5 have a high combo/style ceiling and it works cuz enemies are glorified punching bags, efficiency is not needed
      DMC4 has the combo potential with enemies that require efficiency, it wants to be both and that makes it a very weird game, as dante anyway
      As nero it's perfectly fine and fun

    My big problem with DMC4 Dante is that I struggle to find any way to properly control crowds. Rebellion feels like a toothpick compared to DMC3 especially since most enemies except Scarecrows have hyperarmour, so it feels like fighting more than like… 2 medium sized enemies is easily overwhelming. I’m fully willing to accept I’m bad; I even like Lucifer but it feels like Dante seriously needs some sort of weapon that can hit more than one enemy consistently on his Devil Arms, especially with how ass Gilgamesh is imo.

    • @CurayziDante
      @CurayziDante  10 місяців тому +3

      Gilgamesh in 4 is indeed ass for crowd control unlike Beowulf, it's only good for 1v1s
      You're best using pandora and Lucifer for crowd control, DT stinger and overdrive also works
      Dante has crowd control options , it's just you need to set them up, unlike vergil or trish where a rapid slash or a round trip is INSTANT.
      Dante needs knowledge and mastery to be enjoyed, and not everyone has time for that which is fair.
      The other 4 characters are instantly fair and fun, and have some room to grow
      Dante needs mastery or he's straight up ASS
      What i complain about is how people call him "illequiped" when they didn't even experimented enough with him
      Otherwise "he's hard" is a fair arguement

    I forgot I wasn't playing DMCV and kept trying to counter the enemies with my attacks. The enemies hyper armor can be annoying sometimes. About that "designed for nero" thing, i never felt this way, the only thing you could say that is designed for Nero are the bosses, since you gonna have a easier time stunning them, but even then it's not a huge difference because Dante can deal way more damage and dodge better, making the battles way faster.

    I still think dmc1 and dmc5 have the best enemies in the series, dmc4’s enemies aren’t very interesting there’s usually one very reliable way to do a combo on them or kill them in general and it’s usually just shoot pistols.
    I love dmc5 enemies like the juddeca, hell Antenoras, and furies that force you to fight them in different and interesting ways that I personally find fun.
    Enemies in dmc4 like the flying swords, chimeras, cutlasses, Blitz, Faust/Maphistos, boring and annoying to fight and the solution for all of them is to shoot that’s about it.
    The blitz is fine if you abuse royal gaurd glitch, but as Nero’s he’s very boring to fight and when there are two of them it’s horrible and I just result to abusing the camera if I can.
    The combo fodder enemies in this game are also pathetic and boring, compared to the 7 hells in dmc3 which provide a genuine challenge and are fun to fight, especially with the restrictions on styles you can’t really combo without sword master.
    Frost/assaults also only have one boring solution to them just use prop that’s about the only way to launch them with Dante, unless you catch them doing a move mid air.
    Dmc4’s enemies are just boring same with half of dmc3 enemies, they don’t provide a challenge they just provide tedium and ruin the pace of the fights.
