My cat broke bass string on my guitar on the first day of having it, I was so scared because I didn't knew how easy it is to change the strings, the tutorial is easy and without any unnecessary material, thank you sir, you helped me out!
After reading these comments it made me feel a lot better about breaking a low e string on my guitar Lol. To be fair I am learning guitar and I over tuned it. But glad I’m not the only one
I haven't broken a string yet (still a beginner!) but this is SO helpful. It costs $25 to get strings replaced at my nearest music store and I'm not about that life..
While detuning , electric and acoustic both have different movements to de tune . I use electric guitar earlier, but when switched to acoustic e string gone...snapppp
Beginner here, first guitar and the high E string snapped while tuning. This video is very helpful, thank you for reinstating my confidence that I can do it myself!
I’ve stopped playing ever since I did and my parents started questioning me but I was too scared to tell them that I snapped the string so they just gave up on it lol I wanna start playing again tho so I might have to ask my dad for help
eamonsterrr I don’t have any music or guitar stores near me. But luckily I brought spare strings when I first bought my guitar. I’m also very happy to announce that I got my music teacher to help me replace my snapped guitar string and I can now play some of my favourite songs!!
Im not the only one who's scared. Tuning is great especially when you do it inside an empty quiet room then suddenly a string breaks. Gives you heart attack everytime
Thanks for the video, it's a lot easier than I thought it would be. I just got a new guitar today and popped the e string due to this stupid tuner app telling me to keep tightening it
Same happened with me 😭😭I trusted too much in this stupid guitar tuner (App) it was just 4-5 hours since I brought the new guitar hehe well I'm an beginner 😅😣feeling much better after reading comments so YES I'm not alone 😂✋lol
I remember the time I broke my high e string. This was one when I was a real beginner. I was using an electronic tuner and I was plucking the wrong string lol. Also the sheer amount of people saying they broke their low e string is crazy. Are you sure you guys aren’t talking about the high e string? Low e string is the 6th string, it’s thick so I really wonder how anyone could break that shit.
Listen to the song Carrie moves “ and I must’ve broke in 1,000,00 G strings picking and tuning and playing these things banging and strumming and playing these things. 😜
Best practice from the pros is to slightly bend the string near the ball end as you insert into the bridge. This helps keep the string ball seated properly against the bridge plate and prevent it from getting hung up underneath the pin and possibly damaging the strings and bridge.
Bruh I just broke my higher E string and that thing flew passed my face thought my neck was gonna get slit but I don’t know how to make it a little tighter cuz my strings don’t have the nail parts at the bottom they’re free like out in the open
Anyone here after breaking their high E string trying to tune it by listening to a tuner in UA-cam and slapping you right across the face and hand 🙋🏻♂️
Looking back now this is so basic but thank you very much for saving my guitar life. Im not going to lie that i stopped playing for almost a year because of a broken string, thinking it was some technical skill to put them there. Now, not only i fixed my problem, i changed my 6th string aswell since it was old and kinda rusty. I will always recommend your video!!
Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial. I just started playing and broke my high e string while tuning, so glad this video exists. Literally a life saver!
Thanks so much! I watched a different video before yours, tried to follow the directions, and ended up frustrated, with a slightly managled string. Your video was much shorter, and it made the process easy. Thanks again!
I just broke my first string. Super helpful video. I'll be off the music store first thing on Monday to pick up the tools and string. Thank you for video!
ive restrung countless guitars had to come back here cause i still wanted to make sure i was doing it right .when i was little i thought once you broke a string you needed a new guitar😂 the first one i broke i cried trying to tune half step down but i was tuning up and… 😬
Thanks so much our friend has lended us his guitar and I was really getting into it and I didn't realize that I broke his g string so thanks so much for helping
I have played guitar for nearly 6 years, and I have been struggling for an hour trying to do this 😂 I was only 10 when I started so I always had my father do it for me and he's tried teaching me and he refused to do it for me because I should've payed more attention so I had to come here, many thanks lol
Thanks bro. This really helped. It didn't even take me that long. And what's weird is my g string broke as well. I thought that was kind of funny. Anyways... good job on the video.
I can't pull my bridge pin out no matter how hard I tried. It seems like it's stuck there. I'm kinda scared that if I apply for more force the guitar body might break. Someone help
Yes, they need to be really jammed in, so the string doesn't give while tuning. To get it out you might try two different methods. One, is where as well as pulling on the pin, you also pull on the string, for extra leverage. The second way, is to loosen all the strings, so that you can get your hand inside the guitar body, to push the pin up from the inside, (just make sure it is the right pin you are pushing). Hope these help!
@@IfUfindthisURlost Do not pull on the string if you don't want to destroy the bridge plate! Pushing from the inside is a good idea. The pin does NOT hold the string down. It keeps the ball end pushed aside so that it anchors on the bridge plate.
Thanks man! I've restrung a few strings before, just not an entire string set, but forgotten how. (Don't do drugs kids) I'm stringing my acoustic now. Tha ks for the helpful video!
Thank you for the short, concise video. Just wanted to make sure I was doing this right. Turns out I was but there are so many videos near 10-20 minutes.. Maybe they're stringing all 6 but this was perfect for a quick and easy fix. The acoustic now in my possession is like 15+ years old (and lord knows how old these strings are..) so it doesn't need to be perfect. lol
I think stringing a acoustic is tough as opposed to an electric, can string a electric but acoustic...shit. I started on electric, might have something to do with that.
Just try. You may waste a pack of strings or two when you first start out but then you'll get a hang of it and it'll save you money in the long run (instead of taking the guitar in every time the strings need to be changed and being charged $20 or whatever) :)
A couple of additional thoughts. 1. Rub a pencil lead over the nut cutout while the string is out. This seems almost sacrilegious to take a pencil to your guitar, but the graphite will let the string slide with less friction, making tuning your guitar easier. And the lead is under the string, so you'll never see it. 2. I've been told that clipping a wound string next to the tuning peg hastens the string going dead. Maybe an old wives tale. I wait until after I have the string tuned up and then make a couple of 90 degree bends about 1/2" long in the string tail and clip the tail ~1/2" from the last bend. I leave the string end pointing back towards the guitar head. This keeps me from getting stuck by the string end because the sharp end of the string is pointing downwards.
Broke my B string on my second week of owning my guitar ☹️ even though I had a digital tuner. Couldn’t get it to the right tune, sucksssss!!! Thanks for the vid!
hi thanks for the video i already broke e string hope i can replace my self. When we buying strings lets say from aliexpress which brand you recommend and how to choose the thickness. copper or bronze strings?
I recently inherited my father’s guitar. It’s been in its case in the back of a closet for 30 years so that’s probably when it was last tuned. Besides new strings, is there anything else I should do? Is there a risk of cracking the guitar while tuning it? Also how do I know what strings to get? I’m a complete newbie!
Thanks Akon my man I thought it would be a lot harder I don’t have the tool, but could I get the pin up with something else like a flathead screwdriver, first broken string I guess it’s kinda cool because I’ve been really pushing self teaching and getting not too bad at all of results. Many like flathead screwdriver a small one and just be gentle? Would appreciate response but the video helped a lot thnx
A family friend gave me his guitar however the strings(metallic) need to be replaced. I was thinking to get nylon strings but my setup looks similar to yours. Does that mean I will have to get metal strings unless I modify something?
