Continuing our celebration of The Batman, it's time we return to another era of Batman games that is special to MANY of us. - ua-cam.com/video/gShjF61hGU8/v-deo.html
The way I excuse Batman having less advanced detective tools in the other games compared to Origins is that he doesn't need them anymore. Since he's become far more experienced and matured, he's honed his talents further so he doesn't need to rely as much on complicated tools like that. Is it a stretch? Yeah probably, but it also fits with Batman imo. And besides plenty of Year One style stories always show him messing up and at times being dependent on his tools more than his skill. Yet other stories further in his career have him pulling stuff off with far simpler and limited resources at his disposal.
I mean the glue bomb having the same abilities of the ice bomb was kinda a stretch for me. But I do like that they had the electric gloves in arkham knight prison room. Although will be honest and say it's a shame they didn't at least have it as an option
To this day, I think Batman: Arkham City might be my #1 favorite video game. It’s just… literally perfect in every way. I could play it hundreds of times and still love it just as much
I got Arkham asylum at its midnight release. I still have my gs receipt. Playing Arkham asylum for the first time is one of the GREATEST video game experiences I will ever have
Remember? Ive had at least one Arkham game installed ever since they first released. Replayed them all countless time. They’re not just the best batman games but some of the best games period.
YES. Arkham city has to be the best Batman stories I’ve ever experienced. I’ve read comics and watched all the shows and movies. By far one of the best games I’ve played. The story really stands out from the other two. So glad you did this video!
Personally, Arkham Knight was and still is my favorite Arkham game. Probably even my favorite game. Batmobile missions aside, it takes a little bit of everything from the previous games and improves on them greatly. The combat is the most fine tuned, visually it looks the best out of the series, even 7 years later it still looks gorgeous and can easily compete with modern games, the fear takedown system and using Batman in the most tactical ways than ever before. I absolutely love how the grind didn't feel like a plateau, I even found all the riddler trophies and completed the side mission. It's still the only game I can load up and see 240% completion, and get into the game knowing that I'll just dick around and beat up thugs. A true masterpiece of its time.
Agreed, I literally just replayed and finished it a day ago and absolutely love it. Sure, the plot may not make sense, but it does not have to it is a fictional story and it was brilliant. I loved the story and the creative liberty with the Joker was so cool.
I don’t know story and boss fights left a lot to be desired, but gameplay, visuals, and overall feel was perfect. I like Arkham city and Arkham origins gets a lot of hate
Arkham Knight is definitely a good game, but the disappointing boss battles, messy story and overuse of the Batmobile make it my least favorite of the series.
Batmobile arkham knight was a huge let down in the writing and gameplay. The main story didn't make sense with scarecrow just wanting revenge for what killer croc did, but now he's gonna take it out on the City. Arkham knight was said to be a brand new character which led fans to believe it would be a brand new character. But no. Its Jason Todd. With arkham origins being known for the game with the best boss battles, you fight all arkham origin bosses in the batmobile...especially Deathstroke. You'd think they would improve on the boss battles and make them even more revolutionary, but they take the best bosses and kill all the fun by taking them out with the batmobile. The game does not feel like a successor to city and to me has an anti climatic ending to a series I loved so much. Sorry just had to let some of that disappointment out
Arkham asylum is easily my favorite of the series. I loved the dark, trapped feeling I had where I was all alone and had to deal with the horrors and mysteries of the prison one by one
I remember seeing the trailer for Arkham Asylum on the Dark Knight DVD, the E3 Demo, being amazed by the 10/10 reviews, and getting up early to get the game Day One, where I sat and played through in a single sitting - and now it's being called Retro.
I just finished beating Batman Arkham asylum, for a 2009 game, it holds up well, the graphics and gameplay. The Croc sewer mission, had my heart pounding
I think what's really cool is Arkham Knight actually references some of the events of Origins. It was like Rocksteady patting WB Montreal on the back and saying "You did good. I'm proud of you."
I’m replaying all Arkham Series now, it’s amazing, just finished main story of Arkham City and after getting all achievements I’ll try to buy Arkham Origins before playing Arkham Knight. The best series of all time, I just love those games a lot
Hey Matty, patreon from LSM. Recently stumbled on your so I played Arkham City video. Thought to myself dam I haven't played these since the PS3 days. Picked them up on Xbox and playing Arkham Asylum right now and loving it. These older games just hit right. No fluff just enjoyable gameplay.
More doesn’t automatically equal better. Arkham City I feel is the best game in the franchise. Arkham Asylum as the second best. Arkham Knight was good but it wasn’t perfect. Arkham City was the closest to perfection a game can ever be.
always played arkham city as a kid never finished it cause i was bad at it but loved running around as batman and a year ago i decided to get arkham asylum, city, and knight and played through them all 100% and enjoyed every second of it now i go back every couple months and just replay them
I just brought the batman Arkham collection and only started Arkham city, it's a pretty dope game fasho, will enjoy the whole series, kinda wish Arkham origins was added
Arkham City was just amazing. The ending was totally mind blown …. Not too many games can compete with it. But I really like Arkham Origins as well. It is very underrated likely because it followed the masterpiece. My friends and I always say for the whole series, you can see the love they had for Batman. That love and dedication is not always seen in other games these days.
This is mad because I’ve been playing them all from start to finish atm. Glad I’ve subbed since seeing your batman vengeance video. Keep it up you’ll blow up soon
One of the most influential games series of all time this game series inspired so many other games as many have said the free flow system so many great memories as a kid city was my first arkham game I remember when I got asylum I was confused but when I got older I finally understood the timeline city is one of my favorite games of all time it's tough to say if it's my favorite as there a bunch of games in competition for that spot this series will always be great
I just got back into Arkham asylum on my PS3 yesterday. The first two were my first games I ever played on my PS3 since they came in a bundle. City is still my favorite PS3 game to date. Also it’s awesome you have the version where you can play as the joker cause that’s the same one I got later on.
Batman Arkham origns is my favorite Arkham game my pros:the story, the writing, boss fights, the gameplay, loved the new enemies, I'm not a multiplayer person but I actually liked the multiplayer when it worked I loved cold cold heart, I loved the side quests and I loved the emotional scene between Bruce and Alfred I loved the detitive parts in all Arkham games. Con: wasn't a fan of the joker taking over black masks role
Batman Arkham city is my 2nd favorite Arkham game my pros:graphics, music, story, writing, gameplay, I loved the challenge maps, I loved Harley Quinn revenge, I loved the boss fights, I loved the majority of the side quests, I loved playing as catwoman. My cons:I wasn't a fan of the AR side quests or the political prison side quest.
Whoa. Began catching up on the channels videos, came across the PS2 Batman games with your favorite company, Kemco and now we get the Arkham franchise in review, awesome. Checking it now.
Gotham City Imposters was actually really fun. Wished it would have gotten a sequel. The Arkham franchise... you pretty much nailed my sentiment on it. Glad you loved Origins too. It would be cool if Rocksteady would continue not just Batman's story but if they could expand their DC universe not just with Suicide Squad but with other characters too. Similar to what Insomniac is doing with Marvel. I'd have to say that City is my favorite but as you said, all of them are great games. Didn't even know about that Origins sequel. Amazing video.
I didn't play Blackgate because I never owned a Vita but I did play all the other games and I do agree that Origins and Arkham Knight were a little slept on. Not bad games by any means but definitely under appreciated. I think all the games are absolutely fantastic in their own right.
All the Batman games are amazing and the reason I play video games today I feel exactly like you do with each game. I love those games and still go back to them often
Thank you Matty, perfect timing with this episode! Funny enough, I recently went back to finish Arkham Knight after seeing the new Batman film. I'm definitely enjoying it much more this time around, as I would always go back to Asylum and City. Origins has peaked my interest, and I can see that there's a following behind it as a bit of a hidden gem.
The Arkham Series are truly masterpieces of games. Something about these games hit so hard. You just had to live in that era to know what I mean. Thanks Rocksteady !
I really digged Arkham origins storyline, and the relationship between Bruce and Alfred that was expanded on a bit during Batman’s early years, definitely one of my favorites of the series, not even mentioning Deathstroke’s incredible boss fight
@@Boowey09 what the fuck, the deathstroke arkham knight fight is literally just a batmobile hybrid, the deathstroke arkham origins fight is way better, you fight with him, face to face.
Arkham Origins always gets tossed through the mud, but it’s genuinely my favorite one. The Christmas theme, the fights, the upgrades, the ending, Joker’s singing to you...
Improved combat + improved stealth + improved gliding + improved puzzles + improved graphics + improved and a denser open world + improved level design = Arkham knight is a VASTLY superior game to any arkham game before it in every shape way or form
I agree for sure It's not perfect atall, I mean they did Go a bit over the top with the batmobile, I mean cmon why did you replace boss fights with tanks? Other than that it's great, gameplay wise especially
The batmobile did more damage than any of the good in that game. I also wasn't a fan of the Joker storyline stuff it Knight personally. And the Arkham Knight character being Jason was seen from a mile away. Still a stupendous game but just like the Nolan trilogy of movies, the second is better than the third.
I like how a week ago I go back to the Arkham games mainly Arkham origins to finally defeat Deathstroke because as a kid I couldn't defeat him and then trying Arkham Knight because it's the newest one
It gives off that energy because of Paul Dini reading the story for asylum and city Hey my Headcanon you can think of them as a continuation that doesn’t follow the DCAU to a point

I really enjoy this channel and this type of content, "remembering xbox kinect " or "remembering classic lego games" would be intresting, just a thought.
When I go back to cutscenes from the Arkham games it's usually from Origins. The joker reveal while slightly predictable but was still less predictable as the identity of the Arkham Knight. Jokers reveal in Origins is still my favorite moment. Beating the shit out of Roman Sionis, joker revealed, the woman laughing uncontrollably, Carol of the Bells playing in the background. Just awesome.
i had Arkham origins on ps3 when i was in jr high, always loved it. recently bought the original 3 Arkham games on my ps4 because they were in a bundle sale for $9. cant wait to play the og 3 and replay origins
I haven't played Origins yet but I think it should be its own trilogy. And oh what the hell...people complain about these games? I understand flaws but somehow, people can just complain about everything.
i never played Blackgate myself, (nor the telltale one or batman VR) but i played all the others, and not one of them is terrible. sure one could argue there are issues with each, but i like what Matty said about appreciating what's good about them and just celebrating them for what they were
Arkham Knight was the reason I got a Xbox One. It's so weird to think about that being a 'massive, next gen' experience, now that the Series X & PS5 are out. I remember being so pissed it wasn't going to be on 360 & after the annoucement trailer released in March 2014, I got the console in April expecting an October release. Game got delayed until June 2015. God, the nostalgia.
I just played the arkham games last year just because i wanted all the achievements in asylum and i agree especially on how none of the installments diminish's what the others have to offer. The arkham series was quite special. I loved how Tom kane narrates amadeus arkham.
I'm glad that Batman Arkham Knight finally added the Batmobile while Arkham Knight isn't my number one favorite Arkham game it's right behind Arkham City for me personally
I have all of these still and they're still so good. Arkham Origins gets overlooked but I think it's still great. These were out when I was in college. I'm old. The combat absolutely amazing. I actually never played Blackgate! Just ordered a new copy I found!
Batman Arkham origns blackgate my 4th favorite Arkham game pros:I liked the story, writing, exploring Blackgate, seeing the different sections that black mask, penguin, and Joker had The music cons:the boss fights were way to hard I hated going back and forth to the different sections
i remember arkham city came out 2 days after my 16th birthday so i of course used all the money i got for my birthday to buy that complete gem of a game. stayed home 'sick' from school the next day and played the crap out of it as soon as my parents left for work. such simpler times lol
That Origins defense earned you a subscription, my brother, that combined with the Smt 4: Apocalypse video swayed me to yout side. Origins is my personal favorite of the Arkham series and I love SMT. I hope you check out 4 and 3, easily the best of the franchise!
Few months ago I bought the whole series for only $8 I never played them but I watched my little step brother played it and it look very good . I can’t wait to start playing it
Completely agree with your take in that these are all great games and it's hard to rank them (well, except for Blackgate). It's always amusing to see people loving one and shouting that other one is garbage. They are all great and on the same level of quality, in my opinion. I have my favorites, but it depends on the day of the week, probably.
Arkham Asylum still is my favourite of the quadrilogy but Origins gets love because the vibe of "Batman who is relatively new to this and hasn't been around for a long time" is something that I really dig the contrast of compared to the other games
The Arkham series, especially Asylum, are the best superhero games to ever be released. I have spoken! No I will not be taking questions, yes this is a fact. I’ve played the Arkham games at least a few hundred times at this point since asylum released in 09, these games are my childhood and my first exposure in recent memory to superheroes in general. Games, especially These to me aren’t “just games” they’re a gateway to a whole new world of imagination.
Technically you could drive around in the bat mobile in the Lego Batman games. This was of course before Arkham knight came out. Just throwing that out there.
I remember the day I got tht game, the case in my hands felt so unreal and so…. Iconic when n started the game up as a kid the next morning I was never more in awe of a game just the look and feel alone was enough
Spiderman no way home put me into a spiderman phase for a bit but because of the recent robert pattinson Batman, i'm currently in a batman phase. When i could I wanted to play the return to arkham collection and finally play arkham knight. Its a shame that theres no modeen port of arkham origins.

I saw what you did there with Origins ;) cheers for that!
i had Arkham origins on ps3 when i was in jr high, always loved it. recently bought the original 3 Arkham games on my ps4 because they were in a bundle sale for $9. cant wait to play the og 3 and replay origins
I haven't played Origins yet but I think it should be its own trilogy.
And oh what the hell...people complain about these games? I understand flaws but somehow, people can just complain about everything.
i never played Blackgate myself, (nor the telltale one or batman VR) but i played all the others, and not one of them is terrible. sure one could argue there are issues with each, but i like what Matty said about appreciating what's good about them and just celebrating them for what they were
I like all 4 of them
Arkham Knight was the reason I got a Xbox One.
This brought back so much memories 😭😭😭😭😭
The series that got me into Batman and Superheroes in general still play arkham asylum and series today.
Love your channel, guy! 👏👏
Few months ago I bought the whole series for only $8 I never played them but I watched my little step brother played it and it look very good . I can’t wait to start playing it
Arkham Origins was the only one I've not played and after seeing the Batman I got the urge to finally play it. Bless back compat 🙌
Awesome vids man
Seems like I'm not the only one who has been thinking about these games.
Completely agree with your take in that these are all great games and it's hard to rank them (well, except for Blackgate). It's always amusing to see people loving one and shouting that other one is garbage. They are all great and on the same level of quality, in my opinion. I have my favorites, but it depends on the day of the week, probably.
Hidden gem is Arkham origins if you don’t know that you need to play it now
I really like the video!!! Subbed !!
Matty! You didn’t say anything about the text behind the manual of Arkham Asylum, that was printed on the back of the cover art
