That whole business about hat removal (indoors / at a dinner table, etc.) is tied up in archaic Abrahamic religious (IMO) nonsense. It's your home. Wear whatever you want wherever you want whenever you want.

That was a major faux pas when I was growing up, it was mostly perpetuated by my grandparents (Greatest Generation), but I had aunts and uncles (Baby Boomers) that held the same standards. In our region leaving the hat on indoors, especially at the table is also akin to violating Christian norms somehow. In fact, I can remember when I was really little the older people did not like laughing and joking around at the table either, dinner was all about respect and gratitude.

Hi Laura, Well, you've inspired me to cook! I've been a life long gardener but always resisted the kitchen chores. Anyway, I made your chili for my grandson (and his parents). William is just a wee bit younger than Benjamin and I thought if your kid liked the chili, then Will may too. I had to substitute pumpkin for butternut squash but it was delicious and dry enough (the guys in our house don't like to drink their meals either, Aaron). Your cooking segments are a really nice extension to your gardening topics, and I'm trying to patiently wait for baby girl nursery updates. Lastly, I too suffered from rib issues when I was pregnant (30+ years ago), my OB suggested using a wide ACE bandage to provide a bit of support between my breasts and my belly. My daughter when pregnant wore support bands above and below her belly. You've probably explored all the sensible solutions yet I encourage you to try to see if you can find some relief for the last three months. With joy from the kitchen! Jessica

The chili sounds/looks delicious! It's so satisfying to eat directly from the garden! I had that pleasure this year for the first time!

Laura you work very hard, working in your garden reminds me of working a farm with lots of livestock. And taking care of a toddler and cooking , this made me tired.
    You are a inspiration.

One of the reasons I reuse my old coconut coir (those classic hanging basket liners for old iron hanging baskets) to layer between my tubers is they are anti fungal and... well... free. LOL I have never cleaned off my tubers until this year. Normally I just toss them into their storage and work on cleaning them up from rot and desiccation in the spring. This year, after seeing how nice yours look, I did clean them and will see how they do throughout the winter.

Hi Laura, I just have to say that you have re-inspired me to use leaf mulch again. My husband and I cannot recall why we ever stopped. Looking forward to how happy my plants will be in the spring!

Watching you when you’re doing a lot of chores is like watching nursery staff do those chores on their thousands of plants, then transitioning into Julia Childs in the kitchen. What a great video! Daily life on the farm...what a dream you have achieved. So blasted fun and educational. 👏🏻💕👏🏻 God bless.
