Luxembourg is way more expensive than the US. It's one of the most expensive countries in Western Europe which already has higher prices on average than the US.
@@tylersmith3139@tylersmith3139 40 percent of americans live in coastal counties. And if you split the country just about down the middle youll see About 80 percent to the east and 20 percent to the west. That "measly" 20 percent on the west consists of (and im only refering to western COAST here) WA state, Oregon, and California... 3 states. CA is a state with a higher population than Canada with a population 60 times higher than luxembourg. Then you have oregon... 7 times the population of luxembourg. And then you have WA. 11 to 12 times the population of luxurybourg *cough* i mean luxembourg. Thats 3 states of the 50. To break it down barney style ill use a city in WA, for example, known as seattle. Seattle has a population greater than luxembourg. Around 750,000. That 750,000 is around 25 percent more expensive in groceries, rent, and cost of living. Restaurants about 9-10 percent higher. That is one city. One. Should i dare mention any others? Tacoma, renton, LA, SF, san diego, san jose... Speaking as a veteran, weve been around the block a bit. Just a little. I promise you. Cities all around the US with denser populations than luxembourg are MUCH more expensive. And its not really close.
a nurse is quiet well payed. but to give you an idea: a normal house around 1.2 million € or a normal appartement around 500k to 600k €. But there are also advantages like free public transport
@@lukeSibscribe I'm not sure whether that figure has been adjusted for inflation, but what I can say is that GDP per capita is a very poor indicator of wages and the wealth possessed by a country's citizens. For instance, one of the main reason for the high GDP in Luxembourg is because of contribution from workers coming from border countries. And these people are not taken into consideration in the GDP per capita. Another reason is that Luxembourg is a tax haven so there are many international companies who have set up subsidiaries here like Amazon. These companies contribute to GDP, however the income is transferred to their home country. So this money does not reach the citizens of Luxembourg. Also, while the salary is high, the cost of living (especially rent and buying a home) is quite expensive as well, so it evens out. Luxembourg is like any country where there are few poor and few rich people with majority earning an average income. Yep that's it. Sorry for the long reply
