    Finally convinced my office we need to descale our machine LOL very helpful but definitely need to press the buttons for more than 3 seconds to enter descale mode

    Flashing lights got stuck. Called the help line, and was told to do the descaling again, following the UA-cam video. Did not want to do that as I would be using a second descaling liquid pouch. Looked up video online on how to fix the issue. Found a UA-cam video with very simple instruction, which was to hold both buttons for 5 seconds. It worked. In case anyone out there has the same poor service from Nespresso, this is how you get it un-stuck

    the inissia manual (page 14) mention to descale between 1000 to 4000 cups of 40ml coffee depending of water hardness. I drink max 2 expresso per day so ~ 730 per year, so I need to descale every 2000 coffee because of water hardness, so it's ~2-3 years.

    Yep, I just did the descaling as per instructions. I did the rinsing 5 times and then made myself a coffee and it’s all good to go again. 👍🏼

    Followed your guide by heart, but instead of 2 times washing with fresh water I washed 5 and also wasted 2 coffee capsules to be safe.. And it works wonders! No sign of chemical into my coffee and works again like new!

      My first time to use the descaling solution. I rinsed 2 times and switched it off. Now that I’ve read your suggestion, could I just switch on the Descaling mode again and let water run through the system a few times?

      @@jayant408 yeah of course I don't think it will harm your machine.. you can even try it without descale just waste 2 cheap coffee capsules and your coffee will be fine

    I followed this whole video and it worked PERFECTLY!!!! THANNKKKK YOU! ❤
    only other thing I did was run the water through at the end 5 times for the lungo setting.
    Then i brewed my coffee and it tastes amazing! I descaled my machine because it started having a bitter taste to the coffee. Tastes brand new now!

    Just did the descaling and as everybody says you need to rinse it with water at least 5-6 times. You can smell the water and see the clarity of the water to understand if there is still some chemicals in the system. I did that rinsing cycle 5 times I believe and then pulled 2 espresso shots to make sure it is okay.

    Helpful tutorial, but I had to press the buttons 8 seconds to enter and to exit the descaling mode ; 3 secs were not enough. Also you should empty the drip tray after each iteration, or it will quickly overflow.

    Thank you for the video, but my machine doesn't start descaling after pressing both buttons for 3 sec. That drove me mad. I pushed buttons simultaneously and they simply stopped glowing (switched off), so after some efforts I managed to start descaling using a scheme: buttons stop blinking, push them for 5 sec, they stop glowing, push them again for few seconds, then the descaling starts. It takes about 10 seconds. I think you should update your video to list the actual process, like "push for 4-10 seconds".

    Very important note: after the first and the second descaling process, empty the dip tray, which you can see at 0:46
    If you don’t do that then water will flow out from the dip tray.

      if that is happening it means you need to take the unit apart and clean the inside of the part where the coffee capsules go. There is a plate in there that gets really gunked up. There are several youtube videos on how to disassemble these units. It’s a little involved, but only takes a few hours to get back to a perfectly working machine again.

    Please could you forewarn that in the process the water tray must not be emptied to the last drop, that you have to watch and push to stop if it is going to be empty, because the air can go inside the machine and you will have a new problem, the machine will not pour water again. I had to throw away my inissia coffee machine because I think I burned it trying to return it to the normal operation. So, better not to do this operation, but if you are going to do it, watch the water tray, don’t let it be emptied

    My old machine had years of coffee residuals encrusted inside, the only way to access for a proper clean was to disassemble the machine, which is a good way to break something since it was decided to use plastic locks than screws. I wonder if there's a way to unclog and clean all that, it's pretty hard to reach otherwise

      Regular cleaning and descaling with Nespresso Descaling Solution is recommended to keep your Inissia in peak operating condition. After cleaning, gently scrub the pyramid plate with a toothbrush and warm water. This is the triangular plate with a waffled texture that punctures your capsules. Call Nespresso, 800.562.1465, for guidance.

      @@nespresso My problem was the coffee powder residual built in that little piece you move to open the machine to insert the coffee capsule. The punctual grid was cleaned as instructed but the gross stuff was behind 2 cm of plastic behind that, all around the hole where the coffee comes out from that grid and goes in the 3-way tube to exit.
      There's no way to access that without dismantling the machine and the method your company suggested (inserting a little thing like a straightened paper clip to free the holes) couldn't properly reach all around that.
      Considering the machine also leaked when making coffee (i assume from a ruined gum ring since both grid and holes were free), i ended up having 2 locks broken in the disassembly and had to buy a new one. While i understand that it's so cheap that it's better to just buy a new one, i'd like to repair what i already have and it sucks that it was made in a way that you are forced to throw it away after some years. I hope it will be revisioned in a way better way in the future.

      @@chromaticvisuelle I now tend to go with a short coffee without a capsule to just let the clean water flush any residual i might have, after the last coffee of the day. I just hope it can help preventing that wall of gross stuff, the taste it gave to any coffee i made with the old machine was horrible...

    I rinse it twice instead of once with water before quitting the descalling mode. The very first espresso does taste weird, I wonder if it's "bitter" because it's clean or chemical taste. It's not that bad actually. I think it will be gone in next few coffee. At least it's done, it was like ~3-4years.

    3 seconds? not on mine, more like 6-7 seconds. also it sometimes needs to be unplugged during the process because it won't start the next cycle no matter what i press. lastly, it takes about 10 cycles of 500ml just to get the taste of the descaling solution out of the espresso.

      Love my machine, BUT, the fucking generic, one size fits all instructions and directions are the worst. Been rinsing this thing forever to get the smell AND particles flushed out.

    No problems with the instructions and only run an extra 1.5 liters through and coffee is fine and descaling solution not toxic unless you drink it straight.

    I descaled my machine and was hopeful because it didn't leak water during the descaling process. Unfortunately, after the descaling, not only did it leak clear water again, but it did not produce any espresso. I tried reloading the pod multiple times and starting/stopping, including unplugging. What now?

    Mine dit continous flashing of buttons between rinses. After second rinse the button glow went away. Do not know if this a problem

      Thanks for your query! We definitely recommend descaling your machine even if you use spring water. Depending on the spring, it can contain even more minerals than tap water. Descaling also helps to remove any oil or coffee ground buildup which may occur during extraction of the coffee.
      Regarding when to descale, the timescale varies on use, the machine type and your water's hardness. Some machines have an alert for it. As a broad rule we advise descaling at least every 6 months and for some machine even sooner. If you start noting slower flow, cooler coffee or granules in the cup, these are also good signs a descale will help.

      Hi John, we recommend using filtered water, however, if you use tap you may just need to descale your machine, or run the cleaning cycle more often due to the water hardness level.

    I followed the instructions as well and i decided to flush it with clean water twice(i only use purified water to begin with) and i didn't taste any of the solution, i brewed an espresso just with water and could taste anything but water. The cloudy water is just heated up water it clears if you let it sit for a bit....

    Nice descaling video, however one key point is missed; how to stop the machine once the descaling fluid passes through the the machine? I pushed every combination of buttons I could think of but couldn’t stop the machine until I unplugged it!

    If I use distilled water all the time, do I still have to descale the machine? I use an old coffee maker that also has the steam thingy, never had problems using distilled water.
    I want to buy and try one, but I'm scared of the chemical part thou....

      In addition to clearing mineral buildup from inside the machine, descaling also aids in cleaning the machine internally from coffee grinds and other contaminants. Therefore it is recommended to descale regularly, regardless of the type of water used. Our descaling solution is made of food-grade citric acid. We are sure you will love the Inissia.

      I'd love it more if the bloody water didn't taste of descaling solution after five cycles of clean water. There are people on this thread who have had to run thirty cycles and still can't get rid of the taste.

      dear Nespresso: any answers on all the people who have problems with still tasting the descaling kit in their machines even though they ran water through it several times? I might have the same problem. 4 cycles of water and still it's blury. Haven't tried to prepare coffee yet though.

    I couldn’t enter the descaling mode despite pressing the buttons for more than 3 seconds and even longer. I just used the lungo function several times - hope it still works!! Did anyone do the same?

    this descaling mode is not working, I press it starts blinking but then it starts working without pressing lungo and then I cannot enter the lungo mode again, it keeps blinking no matter what I press. So I had to take to turn it off completely and just press lungo as in making regular coffee... not sure if I did it correctly

    After the descaling process I threw away 2 cups full of water. Then I tried my first cup of coffee and i could taste the chemicals, the second was similar, 3rd cup tasted okayish, 4th cup was similar to the original but traces of chemicals came back, 5th cup tasted nearly right, 6th cup tasted like heaven but I had to rush to A+E as I was scared at how fast my heart started beating.

    Guys, are you sure that you used instructions exactly for Inissia? Perhaps, you used it for another model? I'm asking because i did just as the video says and everything is fine. No chemical taste or smell. Coffee, by the way, became better after this operation.

    Hi, I just descaled it using the Nespresso product, I did it twice as indicated but when I poured water in the tank to rinse the machine, it won't come out anything. The same sound is present as on descaling but after 10sec nothing coming out, it stops. Anyone else experienced the same thing?

      @nespresso I figured out how to solve this problem. Apparently, if the machine is held in descaling mode 10+ min without starting the descaling/rinsing process, it gets blocked. Unplugging and waiting for 10min did the job for me and I could continue the process.

    Az első kör után mikor elfogy a folyadék a tartályból, valószínűleg levegő kerül a rendszerbe. Ami azt eredményezi, hogy a második kör nem tud elindulni, nem tud folyadékot beszívni a tartályból. Tavaly ugyanígy jártam, ezért most gondoltam megelőzöm a bajt, utántöltöttem a tartályt, hogy a program lejártakor biztosan ne maradjon üres, nehogy újra levegőt szívjon be. Hiába, ugyanaz történt, most próbálom nagyjából huszadjára újra indítani a programot, de csak küzd és küzd, nem tudja a tartályból beszívni a folyadékot. Talán majd holnap tudom folytatni, de lehet csak 2 nap múlva. Addig pedig kávét sem ihatok. Ilyenkor legszívesebben kihajítanám az ablakon ezt a gépet...

      fusion311 It is a bit tricky to get the hang of it. I had to try several times and unplug the machine for finally getting the buttons to blink.

    A word of warning:
    I followed these instructions. Worked fine. Drank my first cup of coffee and almost threw up.
    10 iterations through the cleaning cycle and I can still smell descaling solution in the water.
    And I don't really think of my sense of taste/smell as anything special....
    I will cycle through another 10 cups of water tomorrow. Till then, it's back to the instant. At least that doesn't taste of chemical.
    And I'm glad I don't have to descale for another year - and will probably pass then. It was working and tasting just fine before this.
    And a further point of irritation: If I only need to descale once a year, why not give me ONE packet of solution in the descaling pack and charge me half the price?
    Oh, sorry, I forgot ... you need me to fund the cost of these half-baked videos, right? Wouldn't it be easier if you wrote better manuals?
    (OK, I better stop while my BP is normal)

      +Rashad in Oz Holy long before the taste went away? I used the descaling kit and 30 rinse cycles later it still smells of chemicals and the water still has a white residue in it

      The reason they give two per packet is that if you live in a hard water area then you should use two sachets of liquid in a single tank of water for the descaling process.

      +Rashad in Oz I tought I was the only one. I did the cycle with clean water 4 times and then I used 10 cupsules to remove the chemical taste. Awful experience.

      I second Christian Gabrielsson. Don't use vinegar. It'll damage your machine. You can use a cheap liquid descaler from the supermarket as well. You should NOT use dissolable/powder descaler as well. My boyfriend works at Nespresso.

    I got through one cycle of descaling and then my machine presumably air locked and now there is no flow through and out through the coffee outlet, any official advice on how to solve this?
