- Dylan was supposed to be the best McCaffrey brother as he was at one time a 5 star QB headed to Michigan. Sadly, he never panned out and was a bust, so what went wrong? Enjoy!

you should stop using titles for your videos like "Suck" and other denigrating words like that....it shows your true colors and the fact that you never played a down in the game except tag football versus your sisters in the back yard.
Confidence is like momentum. Once it's lost, it can be difficult to get back. Seems like a good dude who will be just fine in life after football.
Its also very easy to be confident when you're playing against lesser competetion. Once u go to a place where everybody was the star player. Some guys rise, some fold
That gnarly hit he took against Wisci was the end of any momentum his college career had. I hope he's healthy and didn't take any lasting damage from that.
no it was his 2018 torn ACL vs penn state that killed it
WVU had a pretty good quarterback, Clint Trickett that got crushed in an illegal hit, that was same. Well not the same after the hit.
He was never the same after that hit.
McNamara surprisingly has done well this year, there were probably some other factors on why Dylan went back home, but if he’s happy that’s the most important thing. You can’t forget these guys’ are also students he could’ve been doing it for career reasons or something else. He’s still a good player
Dylan went home because he , like so many others cave when facing competition for the first time in their snowflake existence, coddled from the birth canal to UM...he could not face the fact he wasn't even the second choice.
Cade sux
@@lennyj2080 bingo, if he was some stud colleges would have lined up to get him, but instead he went to play for daddy.
@@Polack-ml9fh sad truth...but the truth. If was a real 4 or 5 star player as advertised he'd had a crap ton of elite programs to go to.
The media need to stop drooling over these high school athletes because once they arrive to the next level, that those rankings go out the door because everyone is competing against one another.
Too much money involved in recruiting to just kill it but you’re right for the most part. I’m a huge Bama fan but our best players in ‘09 when Bama won the natty were all three stars outside of Julio and McClain. Oregon vs auburn in 2010 was majority 3 and mid tier 4 stars players outside of a few players.
A highly rated recruit who has great coaching and support has far less margin to improve than does a equally rated recruit without all those advantages. Dylan McCaffrey was already near his ceiling in High School because of the advantages his father gave him.
True talent, attitude, and commitment can overcome all that. The Manning’s are prime examples.
Talent should always trump nepotism. But you can’t deny besides privilege he was given God given athletic ability. There’s no shame in taking it as far as it goes till someone better comes along. Competition is good
@@johnblaze5252 The problem with quarterback is, it is at least equal parts talent, training/skill, and mental toughness. Without all three you won’t be successful and if as in most cases one or two are less advanced than the other. It is always easier to improve training/skill than it is the other two. So it is the one that should count the least in recruiting, but the rating services rate it the highest because it most directly effects statistics on the High School level. Also in talent people are to enamored with arm strength and almost ignore consistent accuracy, especially consistent accuracy under pressure.
He never showed ability at reading defenses in his few plays he looked like a big run or high risk at throwing an interception. He should have stayed in 2020 and he probably becomes the starter if not even in the second half against Michigan State but he quit. I think he believed Milton was Harbaugh's choice because of his arm strength and Dylan knew he didn't stand a chance with arm strength in comparison he also was a bit home sick I do think also.
EXACTLY
Why is this called the "rise and fall" of Dylan? Dude just couldn't cut at the next level. He didn't "flame out" he just wasn't good enough. Not knocking the kid, it happens to a lot of overhyped kids coming out of high school and going into college.
So true in your words! I have seen kids that were great high school player. But a failure in college! It a different type of football from high school to college! You can be the best on your team, but that not playing player who hit the weight room and got bigger than those you play in high school!
Dylan should have played hoop's in college. As a former high school basketball official in Colorado who reffed him and his teams at Valor. In my opinion he was the best player in the state (even as a junior).
He has a degree from Michigan which is a great school and didn’t have to pay for it….seems to me he is winning. Not everyone excels at the next level and Valor has all the best athletes and facilities in Colorado high school football. When a quarterback is surrounded with so much talent, it is not surprising at the next level that it is harder for an athlete to succeed since success was so easy.
Well said and I agree
Yup one of the world's best and most prestigious colleges.
“Thrillin’ Dylan” is still my favorite Wolverine quarterback. Class act … on multiple levels. Hope the best for him.
Crazy being a Michigan fan I already knew what happened to him I really wish he could of got more playing time
same here! That injury really hurt him
Yup.
Injuries issues;; couldn't stay on the field
Harbaugh is NO QB whisperer.
THANK YOU! In what world has he ever done anything for QBs? Dude gets a 4 or 5* every cycle and still needs to take transfers. And guess what.. none has ever worked. Shocker.
Thinking any HC is a “QB whisperer” really shows a lack of football experience. You spend more time with the offensive assistants than the head coach.
Recuiting it about evaluating high school football talent; Jim Harbaugh ex NFL quarterback but that along time ago ;;must respect Jim Harbaugh career college & NFL:: Jim Harbaugh need better assistant quarterback coach etc etc ;; Jim Harbaugh needs new fat and guarantee contract help recuit better quarterbacks : assistant coaches
@@brianjamds6617 unless your head coach is the QB coach lmao for example Lincoln Riley takes control of the QBs, offense and team in general but in the end coaches the QBs
@@andrewmugnolo3099 He coached Andrew Luck, Made a good quarterback out of an average Jake Ruddock and coached a bum named Colin Kapernick all the way to a Super Bowl.
Dylan was put in a tough spot because of not a great OLine at UNCO. That coupled with subpar run game made a lot of reliance on the passing game. I expect a big season from him next year.
He's been done now
Large fish in a small pound then he went to a bigger lake and then the fish wasn't nearly as big
Jim isn’t a QB whisper he had generational talent in Luck & the perfect scheme in San Francisco 🤷🏾♂️
I agree, I’ve been watching Michigan closely since 2015 and Jim has gone through so many QBs, some would say the QBs were bad but I feel like if you have that many talented QBs come through your school and pretty much none play above average at your school I think that says something. I feel like so many guys have been held back In terms of them just going out and creating, it’s like Jim try’s to turn all his guys into pocket pro style QBs that can complement his run game.
Undefeated National Champion QB JJ McCarthy would strongly disagree 😂
I don't consider him a failure , best of luck and good for him playing for his father .
HE'S A COLOSSAL FAILURE AS A QB...FORTUNATELY FOR HIM AND HIS BROTHERS FOOTBALL WILL NEVER DEFINE WHO THEY BECOME AS MEN, THEIR PARENTS DID A GREAT JOB RAISING THEM!!!
I believe Harbaugh's greatest downfall as a coach (and recruiter) was having such a hard-on for Shea Patterson when you had McCaffrey ready to go. Last year (if you even want to count it) was the first year a QB who actually committed to U-M under Harbaugh got to start every game. His infatuation with the transfer portal has only now begun to lose its negative ripple effect in recruiting, says me.
I really liked Shea Paterson, but I think you are 100% correct and I’ve talked about it before. It’s good he is finally recruiting guys and playing them. Five stars don’t want to sit behind transfer players.
Frankly I’m a literally worried about McCarthy, I think we should have redshirted him this year. This two qb system will not be advantageous.
@@TheNbc27 The outcome of the CFP may play a role, but I hope the upside McCarthy can bring to the offense shows Harbaugh that we can give our QB a greater role than game-manager and keep winning against elite opposition.
@@zachcose5247 definitely man, I love Cade but assuming JJ gets the ball security issues in control. That dude has the arm talent to be something special.
I’d hate to see him transfer out.

You should do a video on the rise of the top players at the FCS level
Yeah! More FCS player on NFL ROSTER THAN TOP LEVEL
I was a huge fan of this kids game in high school then idk...
How much can you really bet on
high school film
Cool story bro
He made a big mistake leaving Michigan. He would be starting right now.
Die hard Michigan fan, he didn’t get a fair shot. Probly a reason why but i had highest of hopes for him
Can you do a story on Denard Robinson
That would be interesting considering how Lamar was told he would only be drafted as a WR. Thats where he wpuldve ended up except he refused to run the 40 at the combine and sent the message that he would only play QB
He was the victim of Harbaugh's stupidity. O'Korn was a huge disappointment, Patterson was inconsistent, and Milton was a complete disaster.
Harbaugh screwing McCaffrey out of the job after pattersons shit show made me lose all respect for him. Even now with mccarthy, it almost feels like the same thing
thank god you aren't the coach
If Harbough was the problem, why hasn’t McCaffrey gone on to succeed elsewhere?
Look opportunity to play is important. But eventually you gotta stand out and force the coach to play you. There or another D1 school. So?.......
You're certainly showing your lack of knowledge about football.
I was so excited when we landed McCaffrey back in the day... he had some chances but maybe just not enough... but at the same time the fact that Joe Milton was gonna beat him speaks volumes....... he's absolutely terrible
Christian does not look like his dad while Dylan is a virtual clone of his dad.
OMG!!! Are you saying Ed's old lady was impregnated by some other guy...I HOPE EDDIE MC NEVER FINDS OUT WELL...HE SURELY KNOWS NOW, THANKS TO YOU 🤣🤣
Nine minutes to summarize him with no punchline. Things may eventually work out for Michigan and Harbaugh but the missteps at the quarterback position has been remarkable. Not sure Dylan was ever going to live up to the hype but leave it to Michigan to win the hype machine championship and then accomplish nothing on the field.
I cannot disagree with you, completely. But, I will say that what Dylan did was NOT unlike a guy at the BlackJack table, when things aren't going the way he expected, who doubles down on a questionable hand. Let's face it - 2020 was a ridiculous year for EVERYONE, including athletes. Dylan's decision to leave Michigan for Northern Colorado (what?) was foolish! He ended his own career! Michigan is 10-1, and regardless of what happens next week against OSU, Dylan would have had HUGE exposure and attention, and his athletic abilities would have been recognized. Instead, he chose a second-tier school that MOST sports enthusiasts don't even know EXISTS. He gambled, and lost!
Jim is laughing now...
Old Takes Exposed

It's the level of competition in high school. He came from a private school in Colorado. I'm guessing the game was much slower. Things speed up in the Power 5.
Not just speed up! Bigger and stronger player who are not high school player
He's probably going to be a great coach one day.
all those boys seem like great young men and they should be fine in life. I wonder if he could have made a move and become a receiver?
Khaki Jesus is what happened
I can't im dead 😂😂😂😂😂
Since video could have been 7 seconds
He went to Michigan

And later became usa President .
Dylan was better than Shea but the experience gave him the edge in the coaches eyes which is understandable tho i dnt agree. He is better than Joe but again a coach my be tempted by Joe's physical tools, i think Dylan didnt want to waste more of his eligibility as u only have 4 with the shiny toy. Dylan is better than Cade but Cade is doing just good enough.
I wish they didn't get Shea in the Transfer Portal he would of had a typical UM QB career.
He was getting hurt a lot at Michigan. He is showing how good he is in playing for his dad.
You apparently haven't checked out his stats at (3-7) Northern Colorado, dude is a busto.
He and his brother Luke are spoiled privileged rich kids, dude quit and went home to daddy because he could not beat out Joe Milton and third-string Cade McNamara...
Similar situation to his uncle, Billy, who couldn't eek out enough playing time on Coach K's early 90s dynasty squad and ended up transferring to Vandy, where he made an elite 8 run on Vandy's best ever team in 94 or 95.
Do luke Mccaffery next !. Coming from Nebraska fan.
If his last name wasn't McCaffrey he would have been a 3 star recruit
2 star if that. He was vastly overrated by recruiting services mesmerized by the name McCaffery.
I agree. The surname only carried him so far and then he was quickly found out by his lack of talent at the division one college level.
Michigan doesn't develop players like they should. I thought Milton was the future. Dylan, Joe, Brandon, John O, etc. Last good qb was Jake Ruddock.
Cade McNamara like three star quarterback: Michigan 9/1
All of those guys sucked when they transferred too, what is your point? Michigan has a ton of players in the NFL….
Tell it the 15+ players headed to the NFL from Michigan, your 15-0 National Champions!!!
Michigan alum here...what a stupid question. He went to Michigan, where QB careers go to die.
Cade McNamara hear of him
@@lloydkline1518 perfect example...are you watching Michigan games? He is terrible and then great...no consistency at all, which is practice and coaching. Staying by my statement, UM, QB cemetery. I've seen a study that showed the high school recruiting sites are very good at rating RBs, but horrible at rating linemen and QBs (along with cornerbacks, but that's because most cornerbacks played a different position in high school)
Call a spade a spade , but you can’t put them in a negative light!!! You said he’s a bust that’s negative enough !!!
Is it thou? I don't understand whats negative about highlighting that you didnt live up to expectations? Doesnt make you a failure the word "bust" shouldn't have such a negative connotation when everybody knows sports isnt a guarantee for everyone and that the life span of a sports player is much smaller then your ACTUAL life
He got to be the starting QB at Michigan which im sure kids thatll never do that dream about he was 5 Star recruit and participated in Elite 11 something im sure a HS QB in some small state will never participate in and hes the son of an NFL legend SB Champion and the brother of an NFL Star....something EVERY American wishes they had
Hes a bust at football and thats okay nothing negative about it
I mean, you either a bust or you're not. If you didn't live up to the hype, you're a bust. Scott never questioned the guy's character or worth as a human being or even his skill. He simply said he didn't live up to the hype, ergo, a bust. Let's not play over semantics

Great guy who comes from a great family. Just don't think Michigan was a good fit.
I think it is as simple as: he knew he would not start. Ever.
That wing helmet is cursed
They are by far the winningest team in college football history regardless of level. Not cursen. Michigan has a winningbrecorx over top i all timevduoetpowers Ohio State, Penn state, Nebraska, and notre dame, and the SEC.
Hardly a tragic story
Harbaughs biggest mistake as a coach was naming Milton the starter over McCafferey. Thats what unfortunately broke him. Really feel bad for the guy.
Every McCafrey gets broken from competetion apparently. Look at like. There like adult babies
In the current offense he could have been fantastic. His running ability was great but he was fragile.
He was worse than Milton…. He wasn’t good
We believe you bro
I've never heard of a 5 star QB getting dropped to a 4 star, so Y did this happen? I didn't here you even address this which would seem huge to me as to y he's now terrible
As a Michigan my take was he was an athlete playing QB. Should've been a wr or te. Could never take his eyes off the rush. He's just not a good QB from what I've seen at Northern Colorado. Dad needs to bench him
He left Michigan high and dry in the COVID Season
Mccaffery - mcnamara - mccarthy I'm starting to notice a trend
His first mistake was going to Michigan lol
Your dads first mistake was not pulling out
Trey lance played at a FCS
Why would the expectations be LOWER?
Kareem Walker RB Michigan, was another one. 5-Star recruit.
He didn’t work out at *ichigan, because it’s Harbaugh we’re talking about.

He had his chance and his wire frame betrayed him. He always got injured.

More to life Than football! I don't consider moving down to FCS as a step down! Just check out the roster in the NFL!
Got ranked high because of his family's success. It's the same reason why Arch Manning is rated so high.
Brian Griese won a Natty at Michigan. He got a lot of hype because of his dad.
@@rogertrew when you watch Arch Manning, does he look like the #1 QB in the country to you? Did McCaffrey look like a top 5 QB to you? As a matter of fact that 2017 pro style QB group was horrible.

Save your time. Bottom line he could never win the starting job. It happens way more than you think. The college game is littered with kids like this the only difference is he had a famous name. Af Miami we had Craig Olson's brother a 4 🌟 sure shot. He busted out.
It’s true. People don’t think about the competition. There’s a #1 quarterback from every state in the country every year and what separates the #1 from #2 is typically pretty fractional. Pretty soon a kid that is #1 one year is on team with other quarterbacks that are #1’s, 2’s, 3’s or whatever and it’s more competitive than they ever imagined. The kid just wasn’t that great and I always believed part of Dylan’s high rating was just based on bloodlines.
