For me, “effortless” is a mix of high & low. Comfortable but not sloppy. Low key, but with a “focal point” in the outfit. Nice hat or printed top, etc.
I've learned so much from you. I used to be just shy of 300lb. Now I'm at a healthy weight of 135. I hated clothes shopping and basically gave up. Now I throughly enjoy getting dressed everyday. Your tips help me feel more confident and my outfits have been a new avenue for self expression. I'm loving your pants at the 4:52 mark! Would the style be considered cropped wide leg? Or a different term? Just want to know what to "search" for when online shopping. I really enjoyed your vlog when you were in NY. I'd be in full support for more vlogging videos. But I also understand you have little ones. I don't think most people understand how much time and effort goes into planning, executing and editing UA-cam videos. Maybe down the road😁 Thank you again for all the help and encouragement you give us ☺️💗💕💜❤️
Wow!!! First of all, congratulations! That’s an amazing undertaking ❤️🙌 and must have taken a lot of discipline and time! Amazing! The pants are ankle length wide leg but I think searching for both cropped and ankel wide leg will give you results. I really appreciate your comments too! I would love to do more vlogs and might in the future thank you for the encouragement 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️
Wow, great job on getting healthy my best friend went from 326 to 141. She runs 🏃♀️ marathons and now I'm the slacker 🤣. She loves shopping and has me subscribed to several advice channels. Anna makes it look easy, but you know it's not that simple to look great without looking like you tried to hard 😉
Congratulations on your weight loss, a terrific accomplishment, it opens up the world of fashion! That’s why I work so hard to stay in “regular” sizes 10-14, despite my body’s inclination otherwise, I have the joy of wearing almost anything, not just the black polyester crap that plus size brands have. Daily walks help me maintain my weight goal🙂
Hi Anna, I very much enjoy all of your videos ! I am 72 and I have always loved the classics. As you have stated before. they can be worn forever, just change up with a current shoe, purse or any accessory, always works well. Any new ideas to mix classics with new are would be great. I moved from the east coast to Nevada 2 years ago and I have noticed that the fashion scene is very different. I have had to change my mind set regarding fashion. I have noticed that on the west coast, fashion is much more laid back and since the weather is warmer, wool and heavier fabrics with a lot of layering is not common. You are correct when you say that you don't have to spend a lot of money or have a closet full of designer things to look great. You always look great no matter what you are wearing! Linda from Las Vegas
I’ve been buying most of my clothes from Lily Silk for years now, I order from there every month. My comfort zone is wearing silk dresses and separates, my lifestyle easily allows it (no messy work, children or pets, even), I’m allergic to so many synthetic fibers, so why the heck not? Lily Silk has made it much more affordable, Quince is great, too. Lily Silk’s styling just keeps improving. Silk is actually very easy-care unless one gets a lot of spots on their clothes, but I don’t. Machine-wash gentle, lukewarm or cold for darks, hang-dry, no ironing or steaming necessary, except on the first unpackaging). Once one tries silk clothing, it’s a bit addicting, nothing else even comes close to its year-round softness and comfort. I even wear silk undies now. I’d much rather have one nice silk shirt than three to five fast-fashion items. (No brand affiliations, just recommending those I love).
I just subscribed to your channel. I've seen a couple of your videos in the past and love your personality. I was just about to unsubscribe to alot of the influencers who tell us certain things are out of trend and make you feel like you are not presentable without expensive clothing. I always try to look presentable and wear what looks best for my body frame using what I already own. That is why I also like Alyssa Beltempo. You can look presentable without buying the latest and most expensive trends. A $200 .00 pair of jeans is food on the table for a lot of people! Good skin, hair and clean, ironed clothes goes a long way no matter your age. Thanks for doing a more down to earth video. Have a great day.
I recently learned about the Kibbe body types and that gave me a lot of insight into why certain outfit combinations look better on others (like the Salty Blonde) but would feel disheveled on others.
After I saw your Amazon video I bought The Drop Women's Mariko Puff-Sleeve black tee. I paired it with black high waisted flaired jeans and black boots. I added a small fuchsia Dune handbag that I got on clearance for $22 and my husband kept going on about how great I looked LOL. I think it could be my go-to outfit for fall (maybe swap the black jeans for dark blue to mix it up a bit). Your videos have definitely taken my wardrobe to more polished and less "mom" looking when I leave the house. You're definitely my favorite UA-camr! 👏
Thank you!!! Yes on the looser jeans👍👍love all looks. If you’re not comfortable in your clothes, you can’t be elegant. Love your pretty couch by the way💜
I bought the navy and white Lilysilk button downs on your past recommendations and I must say that they are so soft and easy to wear. I get compliments every time I wear them. Thanks for telling us about them!
I want to thank you for your “don’t need any designer anything…but IF you can…” statement. Sometimes I struggle with some influencers (trust me I get the have a niche), but some times they can assume everyone has the same budget and must follow their brands rather than the look.
My personal tip = thrift - this goes especially for belts, handbags, costume jewellry, good quality suits mens are often better quality and if you go in an really affluent but not rich area you can find real finds same goes for partywear. Also designer now doesn’t automatically mean better quality. Many times if you want to invest you can get things specifically made for you for same cost or often less.
I usually don’t comment on fashion videos but in this instance , I identified with this effort for a relaxed look. I am going to pull together a loose sweater, some faded jeans and a chunky gold necklace with leopard loafers . Thank you for a great video.
Hey girl! Great video! Would you consider doing another one like this that also delves into classic (but on-trend) jeans/pants/shorts and how to pair them with the right shoe, belt, top, and accessory? 💗
I like your videos & enjoy your humor. I have bought a lot of nice shoes lately & did not want to invest in Converse unless I knew I would wear them. I bought dupes on Amazon for $18. & they are great! Would love to see a Christmas 🎄 video!
Great video! I have been re building my wardrobe with natural fibers, cashmere, silk, linen, leather over the last few years. They are classic and last longer than the synthetic fabrics. I have so many things to try from lily silk and now I have to add that gorgeous jumpsuit!
These are some great tips. I used to have a couple of not skinny trousers in my closet that I never used but since I changed my skinnies up with those, most of my outfits look much better. However, I hope you don’t take offence if I give you some pointers on how to make your background more current. Even if you just add a throw blanket and change up the flowerpot to something with more texture or even color, you’re much better off, but exchanging the mirror from something glam chic to either a more modern black framed one or a more classical gold sort of like a picture frame you see in galleries would elevate your background and make your videos feel much more updated. Just a thought. I think with our home design we sometimes feel they have started to look dated but just don’t know where to start changing them up. But a couple of decor elements can already make a big impact if you just shop around current trends. Hope you don’t mind bringing this up. You’re such a classy dresser, it would look great if your background matched your style more.
I bought a $50 warm lamb style long sweater and I love it! goes so well with my reg clothes but somehow also make me look effortless and chic. So I agree with adding an expensive item can elevate your look.
I go for comfort first now that I'm older. I still wear clothing that is fitted but not tight. I also have a rule of thumb that if I put on an outfit & I tug on any part of it, I change. The outfits you put on were perfect! Great video & thank you for sharing!
I really appreciate this video. I have so many clothing choices, and I honestly just pick the same two or three things to wear. I needed ideas on just the simplicity of effortless styling and I got it here. Thank you so much. In addition, I live in Northeastern Minnesota where it is colder and much more rugged in general, so styling and comfort are necessary and part of the culture here.
I just got a Jcrew wool blazer in black watch plaid and I cannot wait for Orlando to finally start cooling off so I can wear it with jeans and a tee and loafers! Forget Hot Girl Summer, I'm so ready for EffortlessChic Girl Holidays!
Such a great topic and I love that you take a deeper dive. The issue with effortless chic is it is ok when you or on vacation sightseeing! This look doesn't work with work wear. If you see all pics are taken outdoors with downtown street style. Not office style. Would love for you to do work outfits when it is hot outside but cold indoors that we have to wear cardigans and jeans won't do
I get a lot of requests for workwear! I haven’t worked in an office in a hot minute but I am going to figure this one out and come up with something 😄❤️
Since I start watching your video it’s motivated me to buy more with silk materials… I have some kind of silk materials but it’s make me buy more… but usually I buy with printed kind of silk but not powerful color of print…
Thanks for the tips. You look great, Anna! I definitely am trying to follow your advice. My problem is I am not very creative, so the advice really helps😺
You are so hilarious and funny! Hahaha. I do not think the first photo of that influencer looks effortlessly chic. She looks frumpy. Hahaha! I do agree that if you have a pair of designer shoes or accessories, it will definitely elevate your look. I do combine designer accessories with $20 outfits and I get compliments from many people. I love your videos and I learn a lot from you. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Anna, I liked your video. The red blouse looks gorgeous on you. With your thumbnail clips would you be able to feature a few more plus size photos? I love that you already include them, but I love getting ideas from people who have a different perspective like an apple or a pear shaped body. As always, you come across as a warm and thoughtful person and I love your approach and attitude on fashion. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Autumn! Thank you for this! I try to find all sizes for examples of talking points, tbh it’s hard to find more realistic body types in fashion there is definitely a market for that out there ❤️
My husband & I went to a fund raiser dinner in which you were instructed on the invitation to wear a suit & tie for men and ladies a cocktail dress or at least an office attire. Lots of good lookin' outfits of which I was envious, BUT many of the handbags the ladies carried ruined the very classy outfits. So the accessories do make or break a lovely outfit. Thanks for your insight and for sharing.
Great video yet again…Monochromes, natural fabrics, classic accessories, & LESS…IS…MORE…Lydia Tomlinson is one of my ATF girls with style to follow ( Your channel notwithstanding of COURSE! ) on YT. Thanks Anna!
That quote is attributed to Leonardo DaVinci, but it is a timeless concept that many others came to appreciate on their own. Great topic and many thanks for this video!!!
love your necklace and your attitude. i have been eyeing your lilysilk sweater for some months, but i live in fla as well...a bit further south in venice, and don't know if it would be something i would wear much. looks great on you! love that you show different ladies of different shapes and ages. so glad i found your channel.
YES! When in doubt, go up one size. IMO, wearing pants that are actually long enough also looks WAY better. leave the awkward short lengths to the fashion models!
One of the most helpful videos I have seen in a very long time. I literally took notes. Now...off to shop and create outfits in my own closet (and also purge!) Can you share a link for your sunglasses, handbag and jeans in the Lilysilk striped sweater with jeans shot? Thank you!
Love this! I’m so glad it was helpful! ❤️ Jeans are here: rvlv.me/XlWJd3 handbag is here: rstyle.me/cz-n/g4ewjecy88p sunglasses here: rstyle.me/cz-n/g4ewqzcy88p but here is a good dupe bit.ly/3UDibeq
It seems like round toed ballet flats just went out earlier this year, so I replaced all of my shoes and booties with pointed toed shoes and booties. I can’t afford to keep up at this pace! Also I have a large waist but no tummy and I don’t look very good in a monochromatic outfit. I usually wear bell bottoms but I do have a few ankle jeans and pants. I really don’t know what to do about wearing big slouchy tops, so I guess I will be out of style for the duration. I watch all of your videos and I usually appreciate your advice.
I love ❤️ my kitten heels, they look really nice with pencil skirts and my dressy linen shorts. At 5'11 they give me a heeled look without to much height. My problem is, that I can't figure out what jeans look best with them. Bell bottoms, skinny, the rough hemmed or straight legged. 🤔 are they too pointed or to delicate for jeans 👖? I really loved your sweaters in today's video.
Excellent video. That's how I always choose outfits what suit me. When I watch any type of fashion videos, it's just because I want a visual idea of things I already have my closet that will look good together. Things I probably wouldn't have thought of. So following an influencer? not so much. I don't love one woman's style.. I love all styles that I know will easily look good on my body. With not much effort or fuss. I'm quite the minimalist when it comes to clothing, accessories and jewelry. It's my coastal New England upbringing 😊
The long sleeve silk blouse outfit is my favorite you look beautiful in it That is what I like But my stomach sticks out and I cannot tuck them in so that is my problem And by the way I'm 80 so I don't want to do a half tuck I think that's for younger people But 80 or not I still want to look pretty Thank you for any suggestions very good videos
I would go for styles that don’t require being tucked in! Or, you could wear a jacket or a 3rd layer over the silk blouse that usually hides a tummy ❤️❤️❤️
Ms Anna, YOU ARE RIGHT!!! Looser jeans look much better on you! You realized it; brownie point to you! I wish I could notice elements like this one...to look elegant and effortlessly dressed also. Feeling great, being simple (and clean!) : touché! You have it! Thank you so much for your joie de vivre and your laughter....everything is embellished magically! Have a lovely week! helene :))
This look was created in 1960s, but Jane Birkin, and the male equivalent look of effortless chic, by Serge Gainsbourg. Its very beautiful time, a kind of relaxed elegece. ❤
I believe she said the chunky gold necklace was from Jenny Bird in a prior video. Jenny Bird is from Toronto, Canada. I’ve bought a few pieces myself and they are great quality and definitely make a statement. 😊
Thank you for the inspiration - You are spot on - effortless = simplicity. Question - can you provide link to white blouse you are wearing at 2:55? its gorgeous!
LOL those 'influencers' are all taller and skinnier than me, so obviously their choices will look like crap on me if I were to try to emulate their look. Well maintained, good quality clothes is the key. Fit is key. Good shoes are also key. Poor quality shoes will ruin the whole look.
These are some great tips. The only thing that looks off to me is the shiny lily silk shirts with the hidden buttons and your jeans. Looks like a work shirt paired with jeans and not in a good way. I think maybe their more matte silk drop shoulder silk shirt with us hidden buttons would look more effortless with jeans.
Started watching you a few weeks ago and am really enjoying your channel (just subscribed). I love that striped sweater you are wearing and am thinking of ordering it. I have the same hair and skin coloring as you and we are similar in size so I think it will look great on me too! When I click on the link to the sweater, the website says "100% merino wool" yet you say it is cashmere. Just wondering is it itchy at all?
I found that the problem with me styling clothes is the weather here in Birmingham Alabama girl how about it's supposed to be close to 80° here today I don't even know what to do put on some shorts and leggings or tank top a trench coat and a hoodie
You just read my mind. I look at an image in Pinterest and I go, "Ohh, I have those stuff. Maybe I can wear them." Why do I end up looking soo Frumpolina?
At this point the whole shirt "tucked in" look doesn't appear chic or effortless to me anymore because it's been too over done and now appears as an intentional styling method, same with white button downs. Anything everyone else does repeatedly is a negative fashion style IMO. I take only the basic concept, then incorporate it in a unique way or do an exact opposite of the major trend. Examples: instead of a white button down shirt I use the same method with a different color, or, instead of oversize/bulky I use slim/slender, or, instead of midriff tops I use form fitting torso thru butt/hip length tops.
I appreciate that you have utilized models that are BIPOC and also some women that aren’t size 4. 🤌🏽 love. (These fashion videos that use pix to illustrate their point, are not usually this inclusive).
Since I started going for effortless and feminine looks,I feel fulfilled and just comfortable
Yes! 🙌 I feel like that is the ultimate goal ❤️
@@ANNAREID29 thank you 💝
Absolutely! 🥂
Agreed!
Agree with you and now I don't feel I have nothing to wear
I really like the fact that you include every kind of size and phisique when you show the various inspirational looks. It's very pleasant and soothing in a certain way. It's like a safe space here. Thank you for doing so much more than speaking about style in such a subtle way!
I noticed that too. And I also noticed that not all of the models were Caucasian, which I never noticed until watching this- but, they always are.
Glad you feel good watching my videos! I also get tired of only looking at 5’9 125lb ladies 🤣❤️ We are so much more diverse than that
For me, “effortless” is a mix of high & low. Comfortable but not sloppy. Low key, but with a “focal point” in the outfit. Nice hat or printed top, etc.
Yes love this description! Comfortable but not sloppy 🙌

So true! Silk is just almost year round! ( I live in 100 degree temps some high summer days).

Love your videos, appreciate all that you put into them! The red silk blouse is bomb on you!!!
Thank you so much, Norma! ❤️❤️❤️
Love Lydia Tomlinson! She has the epitome of classic style ❤️❤️❤️
That quote is attributed to Leonardo DaVinci, but it is a timeless concept that many others came to appreciate on their own. Great topic and many thanks for this video!!!
Ah thank you for this!! ❤️❤️❤️
love your necklace and your attitude. i have been eyeing your lilysilk sweater for some months, but i live in fla as well...a bit further south in venice, and don't know if it would be something i would wear much. looks great on you! love that you show different ladies of different shapes and ages. so glad i found your channel.
Thank you, Sheri! Glad you are here! ❤️❤️
YES! When in doubt, go up one size. IMO, wearing pants that are actually long enough also looks WAY better. leave the awkward short lengths to the fashion models!
You are just a hoot and your expressions crack me up. I love watching you. I also learn alot from you. Thanks!
Your funny… “I would look like I would’ve given up on life” lol 😂 that’s how I would look too!!!!
Lol you know exactly what I mean 🤣🤣🤣
Or a `bag lady` as we say here in the UK. 😂😂😂
😭😭😭
@@ANNAREID29 Thank you!!
Another great video! Thank you Anna! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Such a great video Anna!
Thank you, Barbara! ❤️❤️
The striped sweater looks great on you!!
Loved everything! Your style is amazing. Keep up the good work! Sending lots of love 💕
I have the red and the white button down shirts. I love them. Maybe the green next?
Looove my green one ❤️❤️
I feel like a straight leg would look great with them no? One that is not too wide. Love the look of kitten heels! ❤️
Really enjoying the IG fashion girl influencer references 😊
I love so much your outfit tips and like to wear long sleeves with mini skirt or shorts as well 💖
Excellent video.
I love this! I wish everyone had your approach to styling! Get ideas that suit you, but always keep your own body, likes and dislikes in mind ❤️
Your jumper suits you very well and love your video.I always look forward to seeing all
The long sleeve silk blouse outfit is my favorite you look beautiful in it
That is what I like
But my stomach sticks out and I cannot tuck them in so that is my problem
And by the way I'm 80 so I don't want to do a half tuck I think that's for younger people
But 80 or not I still want to look pretty
Thank you for any suggestions very good videos
I would go for styles that don’t require being tucked in! Or, you could wear a jacket or a 3rd layer over the silk blouse that usually hides a tummy ❤️❤️❤️
Always appreciate your great videos! I love the belts you're wearing in this one. Do you remember where you got them by any chance?
The striped cachemere sweater suits you beautifully!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Is it cashmere? It says merino wool on the website 😮
Have a lovely week! helene :))
Aw thank you much, Helene!! Always love you’re comments are you are too kind! ❤️❤️
Love your videos ! And personality ❤, where is your necklace from ???
This look was created in 1960s, but Jane Birkin, and the male equivalent look of effortless chic, by Serge Gainsbourg. Its very beautiful time, a kind of relaxed elegece. ❤
Love your sweater and the silk tops. Will check out Lilysilk.
Thank you, Shannon! ❤️❤️
Tell us more about the chunky chain necklace!
I believe she said the chunky gold necklace was from Jenny Bird in a prior video. Jenny Bird is from Toronto, Canada. I’ve bought a few pieces myself and they are great quality and definitely make a statement. 😊
It’s not Jenny bird although I have seen some cute ones there too! Here it is! bit.ly/3fIkA8X
I always enjoy your videos 🥰
Thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you for the inspiration - You are spot on - effortless = simplicity. Question - can you provide link to white blouse you are wearing at 2:55? its gorgeous!
You nailed it!
LOL those 'influencers' are all taller and skinnier than me, so obviously their choices will look like crap on me if I were to try to emulate their look. Well maintained, good quality clothes is the key. Fit is key. Good shoes are also key. Poor quality shoes will ruin the whole look.
Yes great point! Good quality and clean shoes are a must! ❤️
I so want a button down Lily silk shirt!....so expensive though....I'm trying to justify it for myself!
I wear mine constantly, my white silk LS two-pocket LS shirt is my most-worn top. You’re worth it!
Agree with Kimberly! ❤️❤️
Great information ! Thank You😊
These are some great tips. The only thing that looks off to me is the shiny lily silk shirts with the hidden buttons and your jeans. Looks like a work shirt paired with jeans and not in a good way. I think maybe their more matte silk drop shoulder silk shirt with us hidden buttons would look more effortless with jeans.
*unhidden buttons
Great advice.
❤️❤️❤️

Lol you get me 🤣
@@ANNAREID29 🤣
Let's count the times Anna has said "effortless look"..😁 Love your videos!
Ooo, a new game!
@@kathygann1180 lol! I like Anna, but the amount of times she said "effortless look" ..well I lost count. 😁😅
Anna, what jeans are you wearing?
Wish Lilly Silk had small sizes for petites xsmall
You make me smile
Aw thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh I must have misspoke! No it’s super soft like cashmere, not itchy at all. Very comfy ❤️
love your bold chain necklace! link please!
Jenny bird from Toronto. Love her jewellery!
Yes here it is! bit.ly/3fIkA8X
Quote was Da Vinci 😊
Great vidéo! Thanks a lot Beautiful ❤
I found that the problem with me styling clothes is the weather here in Birmingham Alabama girl how about it's supposed to be close to 80° here today I don't even know what to do put on some shorts and leggings or tank top a trench coat and a hoodie
Can u highlight influencers size 8 - 14? I feel that the women you show are either size 0/2 or a size 24/26.
You just read my mind. I look at an image in Pinterest and I go, "Ohh, I have those stuff. Maybe I can wear them." Why do I end up looking soo Frumpolina?
You gotta feel comfortable in your outfit, not feeling like an imposter. If it means sweat material head to toe, so be it.
Lol always be true to yourself and wear what makes you feel like a million bucks 🤩
Or silk head to toe.
Help me understand what you describe as "classics"???😬 Thanks!!!
Love the button downs in different colors! So how do you tuck in your tops? Or do you not tuck them in? ❤️
@@ANNAREID29 , I don't like the look of tucking but on very rare occasions I'll slightly twist & tuck to the side if a top fits too loose on me.
💖💖💖
One word ... kibbe
People keep saying what a game changer that is! ❤️❤️
Looks like it's merino wool, not cashmere
It is! I had it in my head it is cashmere. It’s super soft❤️
Are you OK?🤣🤣🤣
Effortlessly cannot wait for oversize to go outdated. Sorry.
What you are wearing is totally wrong. Your neck looks short and you look wider than what you really are because of the horizontal stripes.😮
I appreciate that you have utilized models that are BIPOC and also some women that aren’t size 4. 🤌🏽 love. (These fashion videos that use pix to illustrate their point, are not usually this inclusive).
You nailed it!
