I think you did show us how to dress the best at your greeting in this video by wearing red lips going well ( matching ) with your red satin top. Well done.
I look my best when I plan for extra time to get ready, especially if it's an important event. I get the mani/pedi the day before to help free up time on the Big Day. I also try to exercise hard - sweating and muscle pumping required - if I have time to do so at least 4-5 hours before the event. Well-flushed skin, time to thoroughly cool down, outfit and accessories laid out before getting in the shower, a nice glass of wine while getting ready, with uplifting music playing. That all brings an inner and outer glow that makes everyone look and feel their best.
I love this video and agree that wardrobe care is so important. I have everything ready to wear (ironed, polished, etc.), in my closet and it simplifies getting dressed so much.
I just bought an antique dark gold color bias cut midi skirt done in thick drapey satin that is not shiny. I love it to bits! I pair it with a knit vest as a top or a blazer over cami. I can wear a hoodie with a puffer vest with it, too. And it looks fab with Stan Smith or Chuck 70. The juxtaposition of a lux piece mixed with athleisure is so my thing. I don’t feel over dressed or underdressed.
Great vid & love your sense of humor! Years ago I was in a Macy’s shoe department. A woman asked my opinion of 2 different (2 inch & 3inch) heels she was considering for NYE. I asked her if she wore heels regularly. She didn’t. My advice, go with the more comfortable pair, you will be comfortable & people can see your dazzling smile instead of a woman gritting through pain.
I recently invested in a laundry kit. I purchased a steamer, cashmere comb, sweater stone, and other items to take care of my fabrics. It has made a world of difference. I used it for wool blazers I purchased from the thrift store and cashmere sweaters). - June Tailor Pressing Cloth (use on delicate fabrics when ironing and steaming) - Sitake Mesh Sweater Hanging Rack (great for items that need to dry flat) - Woodlore Cedar Shoe Trees for women I also purchased basic white towels to roll my sweaters and other items in hand wash that can’t be wrung out. I either press the water out or roll it in the towel and then lay them flat on the hanging mesh rack to air dry. This helps to cut costs for my dry clean only items. I hope this helps someone.

I feel like you may have done this already, but I think about video idea is caring for clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. I have some nice shoes that have gotten worn out because I didn’t use shoe trees when storing them, or shoe horns to put the shoes on. Also using things to stuff in your boots and hand bags to keep their shape when not in use. I think this ties into looking out best, because we’ve taken care of our items.

I would add don't go overboard with perfume because some people might be sensitive to smell and especially if it's a strong perfume and like you said weddings or someplace where you're indoors especially with the colder weather indoors possibly what the heater running just keep the perfume deodorant any sense to a minimum. And I would say that goes double for guys as well
I love the way you intersperse all sizes of women to show one can be well-dressed at any size as well as age. I remember pix of Amy Vanderbilt (tells MY age, doesn't it?) when she put out her book on manners, and she was on the plump side, but beautifully dressed and coiffed!

At any given party there are a lot of women wearing black which is great, but if some lady wants to be noticed, in a good way, try dark blue, or dark brown, or whatever looks good on you. The same with winter clothing- dark, black. You gave great advice on trying beige, if white is too risky.

Being best dressed is subjective so there really is no way to tell who best dressed is. I think feeling your best is a better way to approach events. Wear whatever you want but be respectful of the events dress code. If you show up with full confidence and feel your best then that is what matters. Tips to feel good in your outfit are; making sure your outfit fits, grooming is important, having your outfit pressed and laundered before an event does wonders. I love loud fun outfits and every time I show up I get complimented. Some people think it’s best dressed others think it’s too much. Always subjective.

I've written down a number of items that I feel would be nice to wear over December & the festive period. Then dates and any events we have invites to. I think of a couple of outfits that may be appropriate for each date & what shoes,bag,jewellery etc that would go. Well beforehand I take each outfit out of the wardrobe, make sure it's all in good order, pressed etc & try it on...does it fit? , is the top too long? Button loose?, I may change my mind on the day but I'll always have an alternative ready to throw on if I do. I know ..o c.d . Shame I hardly ever go out lol 😆
When it comes to Lilysilk blouses, I really think they need darts sewn in them. I took an inexpensive polyester blouse into my seamstress and added darts for a nicer fit. What a difference.
If I wear my red sequin dress I will be sure to not wear anything to compete with it. Red is my standout color that everyone loves when I wear it. I sometimes wear a vintage inspired 40s or 50s era type dress which is definitely not what everyone is wearing but can look nice.
I love wearing all white, or white with beige/taupe, it always looks elegant. I avoid black, especially near my too-pale face, it’s unflattering and done to death.
Oh, well timed. Things to think about as I face my wardrobe this morning, heading to work where for most of the day I'm going to a luncheon event at a Local Ritzy Hotel where I will be representing the community college that employs me. Hmm...I'm thinking black silk blouse, black midi skirt, black wool overcoat, black wool tights, black ankle boots or black-on-black cowboy boots, depending on which looks best...it's a rainy 39-degree-day here...

my granddaughter's wedding is nov 12! my girls and oldest son were all under Nicole overnite and this morning!! originally it was a formal fall pallette--now, they just want everyone to show up and be counted and eat!!! so--i will bring the grandma long black skirt with the complement peplum top, and now i'm brinigng what would be a gunny sac on some, but it has a defined waist, ruching at neck and wrists midi length with POCKETS. had mother of bride laughing--cuz to this old girl everything goes with beautiful Dan Post boots--these in particular are my caramel studded--shaft is high enuf you dont see the sheath for my small dirk. it will be nice to put on mascara that is on me and not the cat's tail. i love little victories!! i'm five one, 123 lbs, silver hair, walk like im six feet tall (keeping up with older way taller brothers!) i should bring my own Guinness we shall see how this goes!!
I just bought a honey love undergarment for my sweater dresses. It is so comfortable and makes me look great. If you haven’t tried them you’ve got to. I’ve tried spanks and they’re always too small and uncomfortable.
The thing that I do when going to a big event is to put on some good music, put on the outfits that I am thinking of wearing and walk in front of a full length mirror and watch how the outfit behaves. Plus put a chair in front of the mirror and sit down, that way you can see what is showing, and the best way to sit. That way you know that whatever you have on looks great…ie not showing your knickers lol. How to position your feet to look elegant too. Bend forward to see if you are showing too much cleavage. Plus, take note of current affairs so you don’t look dumb and have a topic to discuss with the person sitting next to you. Share your hobbies, and appreciation of nature, sports, art and culture, so you look informed and interesting …..love your videos! Xxxx
If I'm wearing a beautiful outfit but my hair is having a bad day (😝) I don't look good and don't feel good. My hair is in charge of my look. 👑😉 So, if my hair has a great day, my clothes somehow also look well put together. 😘
So be clean and neat, dress simply in clothes that fit and are of classic styling, stand up straight and at least pretend you're socially comfortable. Check. As another comment says, wear good undergarments that fit! Check check!

You are a hoot. Lord of the Rings. Good video. Class reunions. Family party. Business Christmas Party. You just want to look great. Make sure your shoes are in good condition. And you can move well. Not moving like your feet are killing you or you can’t breath or you constantly are fixing something. A bow keeps getting undone or something rides up or slips down. Bra straps that don’t stay put. You want to look comfortable. I love high heals and can walk in them for quite a few hours without looking like I’m suffering. Actually, I’m not suffering. I can walk confidently and gracefully. If I can’t or if you cant, change shoes. I’ve chaperoned too many school dances and boy oh boy what I’ve seen. Lol.
We talk about Princess Diana to this day is because of who she was, also what she accomplished and not how she dressed. There was nothing special about her every day looks, it was what all of us was wearing, it was basically the mom uniform. The evening looks were statements because she could afford to be dressed by the finest, so a designer's name come with that look. This video becomes an oxymoron when you keep saying that you not dressing for other people but that is exactly what you are doing if you trying to be acceptable to the majority. Best dress seems to be a person that wear a classic form of clothing, but they add a twist that makes them stand out and it makes a statement. This is what teen do when they have to wear uniforms to school, they individualize their looks. You are so right about attitude and how you carry yourself, that even more important than anything you mention here. Plan, plan and plan again because you will know how these things look on you and if anything needs to be repaired and you need to be comfortable by all means (nothing like wearing a pair of shoes at a standing only event and they are not comfortable). If I wear my red sequin dress I will be sure to not wear anything to compete with it. Red is my standout color that everyone loves when I wear it. I sometimes wear a vintage inspired 40s or 50s era type dress which is definitely not what everyone is wearing but can look nice.

I love wearing all white, or white with beige/taupe, it always looks elegant. I avoid black, especially near my too-pale face, it’s unflattering and done to death.

Oh, well timed. Things to think about as I face my wardrobe this morning, heading to work where for most of the day I'm going to a luncheon event at a Local Ritzy Hotel where I will be representing the community college that employs me. Hmm...I'm thinking black silk blouse, black midi skirt, black wool overcoat, black wool tights, black ankle boots or black-on-black cowboy boots, depending on which looks best...it's a rainy 39-degree-day here...

my granddaughter's wedding is nov 12! my girls and oldest son were all under Nicole overnite and this morning!! originally it was a formal fall pallette--now, they just want everyone to show up and be counted and eat!!! so--i will bring the grandma long black skirt with the complement peplum top, and now i'm brinigng what would be a gunny sac on some, but it has a defined waist, ruching at neck and wrists midi length with POCKETS. had mother of bride laughing--cuz to this old girl everything goes with beautiful Dan Post boots--these in particular are my caramel studded--shaft is high enuf you dont see the sheath for my small dirk. it will be nice to put on mascara that is on me and not the cat's tail. i love little victories!! i'm five one, 123 lbs, silver hair, walk like im six feet tall (keeping up with older way taller brothers!) i should bring my own Guinness we shall see how this goes!!

The thing that I do when going to a big event is to put on some good music, put on the outfits that I am thinking of wearing and walk in front of a full length mirror and watch how the outfit behaves. Plus put a chair in front of the mirror and sit down, that way you can see what is showing, and the best way to sit. That way you know that whatever you have on looks great…ie not showing your knickers lol. How to position your feet to look elegant too. Bend forward to see if you are showing too much cleavage. Plus, take note of current affairs so you don’t look dumb and have a topic to discuss with the person sitting next to you. Share your hobbies, and appreciation of nature, sports, art and culture, so you look informed and interesting …..love your videos! Xxxx

Not moving like your feet are killing you or you can’t breath or you constantly are fixing something. A bow keeps getting undone or something rides up or slips down. Bra straps that don’t stay put. You want to look comfortable. I love high heals and can walk in them for quite a few hours without looking like I’m suffering. Actually, I’m not suffering. I can walk confidently and gracefully. If I can’t or if you cant, change shoes. I’ve chaperoned too many school dances and boy oh boy what I’ve seen. Lol.

We talk about Princess Diana to this day is because of who she was, also what she accomplished and not how she dressed. There was nothing special about her every day looks, it was what all of us was wearing, it was basically the mom uniform. The evening looks were statements because she could afford to be dressed by the finest, so a designer's name come with that look. This video becomes an oxymoron when you keep saying that you not dressing for other people but that is exactly what you are doing if you trying to be acceptable to the majority. Best dress seems to be a person that wear a classic form of clothing, but they add a twist that makes them stand out and it makes a statement. This is what teen do when they have to wear uniforms to school, they individualize their looks. You are so right about attitude and how you carry yourself, that even more important than anything you mention here. Plan, plan and plan again because you will know how these things look on you and if anything needs to be repaired and you need to be comfortable by all means (nothing like wearing a pair of shoes at a standing only event and they are not comfortable).
