Thanks for the vlog sir. I own a 2011 1.4 liter 4 cylinder turbo Cruz. No problem with power steering or electric issues but I will say my water outlet housing broke. If u look at your antifreeze reservoir and follow the tubing on left side of reservoir it connects to the water outlet housing. It keeps your car cool a d is made of plastic. Dealer wanted 460.00 to fix I did it myself for 25.00, 2 hours free labor and a sore back. Keeps eyes out for antifreeze on ground.
I have a video of me repairing this part, it's very easy to break because the oil filter is right under that, and if not carefully you will crack this atea.
I had six recalls and told Chevy one was the power steering and the won't fix any of them because my carruns fine and no check engine light. When I got inspection it told my to put in vin number on this website
I had charging system problems and several other intermittent electrical problems with the instrument cluster of my 2011 Cruze. Instead of replacing costly parts, you should take a look at any of the fuses in both fuse boxes. The factory used fuses having silver plated pins. You will find that 100% of the fuses will have a heavy black coating on their pins. This is silver oxide and that is an electrically non-conductive ceramic material caused by silver being in contact with oxygen in the air and especially hot, damp air. The growth of the Ag2O coating over time is similar to rust on iron containing metal objects. The effect to your car is to fill it with nearly 100 intermittently loose electrical connections and those will confuse the car's software. Gently scrub the silver oxide off using a piece of Scotch Brite pad. Do this to EVERY fuse in both fuse panels and you'll find that scores of INTERMITTENT electronic and electrical problems all over your car will disappear. Partially lift out and then re-seat the relay switches too. This costs nothing but about 1 hour of time. I'm an equipment engineer working with X-ray microscopes. My old Cruze is working perfectly now, even with 190,000 miles.
I had this same problem with my 14 Cruze. (I had just purchased the car and it had 76k miles.) The first time, I was stranded at a gas station after filling the tank. I asked a gentleman if he had battery cables and could he give me a jump. I popped the hood, checked the position of the battery and cables, don't remember touching anything, got back in the car and the instrument panel was active so I tried to start the car.and was pleasantly surprised when it did. The second time I was driving in the mountains after going thru Salt Lake City when the instrument panel started giving me all kinds of messages for different services needed. Traction control was the most frequent, brakes, tire pressure and power steering, to name a few. Every time I changed lanes I got these messages. Then while I had my turn signal on I got a message that I needed to use my turn signal! THEN I lost power going down a steep grade. No power steering! OMG! I made it and headed for the first service station I saw. I did need brake fluid but the tires were at the correct pressure and the attendant and I searched high and low for the power steering unit so i could fill it with the fluid recommended in the Owner's Manual. Then, reading further , I found that I have power assist electronic steering. When I got back in to leave the station the car would not start and had no power whatsoever. I started checking every connection, but nothing was loose. What the heck??? The car started and I haven't had the problem since. No answers.

Ask them if there are any recalls or warranty claims on your Ecu Module. If they are a Honest Dealership they will let you know. Your cars power steering is Electronic and controlled by the ECU Computer, it will drain your battery. The battery is not the problem neither is the starter, it's The Computer ECU draing the Battery. It's a Malfunction. My car was fixed and covered under Warranty. My Dealership knew about this issue. Try to Google it.
In mine, the thing it happened was that the battery was damaged and it wouldn't have power steering. We change the battery and reprogram the power steering and nice, until it happen again🤣 but it's a problem that the water got it in a flood lol. Maybe it got damaged this time
yes, it is not the battery, it was the computer electronics module had to be up graded and mine was still covered under warranty. I have not had a problem since upgrading it.
I have a 2013 Chevy Sonic. Power steering went out/ intermittent. When I open the door it sort of resets. It kicks the steering wheel sometimes. Is this same issue?
Hi I have a 2014 Chevy Equinox with the same exact issue! I finally figured per the owners manual today that there is no reservoir because it's electric. Unfortunately we're at 38k & our bumper to bumper warranty expired. But I am hopeful that the problem is really only the battery. My husband was at work & all of a sudden it didn't start to come back home. We got it towed home (we live here in AZ). Then it got here & it starts again. Still no other message other than the "service power steering" which comes on/off as a reminder would? We did take it to Pep Boys & did tell us the battery was pretty low but I didnt believe them because the car has started over & over with no problem it's just that "service power steering" message on dashboard. Also the guys at Pep boys check the fuse box voltage not the battery now that i think about it so I don't think he did it correctly! What a mess! Now watching your video it probably is the battery. Hoping actually it really is just that! Our steering wheel does NOT lock or feel tight so that's why it's hard to believe it's the power steering. So why doesnt the battery light come on instead then? Ugh I really dont like all these electric issues it's all too sensitive. i wish cars were like the old schools instead of computers. What do u think?
+sfcxicana I think it is your computer modular. It controls the electric power steering and it controls the battery voltage. I thought it was the battery also but after 3 times taking it to the dealership it ended up being the computer module. It's a expensive repair. I like the old school car setup also.
Iseekoutthetruth Aw man I kind of lost hope! We don't have the money to repair a computer module! :( we are no longer under the bumper to bumper warranty! Only have the Powertrain warranty left wonder if this computer module would fall under that? I doubt it though I think Powertrain only consists of the engine & transmission :( this makes me so sad! Especially since we bought it new & it still is new (low mileage) & still owe a whole lot of money!!!! :( thanks for your reply!
I know exactly how you feel, my wife's Chevy Cruise was new also and running very close to the end of our warranty, they told us it was the battery the first time, so they replaced it, than the battery went dead again so they replaced it the second time, by the second time I told them its not the battery, the steering keeps locking up on us, I told them my miles for my warranty is getting very close to being over warranty. I don't want my car back until you find what the problem is and its not the battery. took them a couple of days but they found it was the computer module, and now I have found out that Chevy has already known this to be a problem. maybe you can find one at a junk yard or ebay, good luck.
Iseekoutthetruth I just found some "light at the end of the tunnel" info in my Emission Warranty Parts List which covers ECM (engine control module) & PCM (powertrain control module) for 8yrs/80k miles! The computer module u speak of was it one of these two?
My car is doing the same thing. The power steering it’s stiff wen I drive it on the highway my radio shuts on and off at times says stabilitrac needs service. My is still under warranty hopefully can can fix this issue. I just purchased the car like two months ago. What was wrong with ur car?
I'd be rid of the trouble laden Cruze if the warranty is off and I wouldn't deal with that dealership though , they have already lied to you. Dealers can make all the difference no matter what the make of car or troubles the car has..if they want your business they make it right no questions asked. They can afford to spend a few buck to keep a loyal customer..these one time sales dealerships eventually get a real bad name.
My power steering light popped on in my 2014 Cruze. The light did go off so I'm getting a state inspection done now. Hopefully if it's my battery, then they'll find it & anything else.
Cassandra Morgan I’m having the same issue lots of white corrosion on the negative battery cable end and was going up to 15v on the Voltage reader on dash

Hyland Auto Service in Tempe has the best mechanics. 😉😉😉 but any mechanics hate electronics. They dont teach that when you've got a master tech, 25 years experience won't tell you how to fix any of these new piles of crap. Lol
nope, it was a temporary fix. what the problem was, it was the electronic power steering program needed to be uploaded, it was also draining the battery. so we got the upload done and the battery changed for free. covered under warranty.
I notice you replied to everyone it was not you're battery it was you're computer module.. so how do you fix the computer module please.. I have a the same problem but dealers are expensive .. if it's just the battery it would be cheaper to do myself
Most people think its the battery and they disconnect/change the battery which resets the power steering control module and it works for a little while. They mostly flashed new code to the eprom/chip or replaced the power steering control module with a new one since it was under warranty. ......ClutchmanWV
I have a 2015 and I told them when i was buy it it seems like it didnt want to start but then THEN I HAD A HUG ISSUE LAST YEAR AND THEY GAVE ME A NEW BATTERY SO IM CURRENTLY HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND I HAVE 200 MILE LEFT TO GET IT FIX UNDER WARRANTY . What is it with batteries at a grocery store? Mine did the same thing at Kroger's LOL. I had one day left on my warranty and I had to pay $130 for a battery they said only a Max H would work in a Chevy Cruze I don't know if they took me for a ride or if that's actually true on the battery. Other than that no problems
Oh ok so I need my air looked it bc it doesnt come on right away. Im told its a switch, and my fuel in motored electronically so the module could be a possibly for that?
I would say, have it looked at. My problem was the battery kept dying and the power steering would lock up. IT ended up being the Computer module needed to be upgraded.

Thank you for uploading this video. I'm having this same problem right now so let me ask you; after you switched the battery for your chevy cruze...haven't you got this problem again?
yes, it happened again. The battery was not the problem, it was the computer module need to be upgraded, chevy knew about this and had to fix it under warranty. I have never had this problem again.

The Dealer replaced the battery but that was not the problem, it was the computer modulator which they fixed. I do not know what the milage is now but it has not had a problem since the modulator was replaced.
Its not the battery that needed to be replaced. The car is just a pile of junk. The cruze is know for having a parasitic drain and GM won't recall or fix it because its not a safety issue. I bought a 2014 LTZ RS for 12k with 70k miles and ive had it just 2 years. I've had to replace all the brakes, front wheel bearings. The battery will be dead in the morning if I don't drive it every day. And now I have a coolant and power steering leak. And I still have a noise coming from my front DS wheel. I WILL NEVER BUY A GM AGAIN!!!!
My problem was the computer module killing the battery. I just fixed my coolant leak last weekend. It was the over flow jug where you ad the fluid. Small crack under neath the jug. $35.
@@Iseekoutthetruth I checked my overflow for any leaks but didn't see any. I think it might be the thermostat housing which is pretty simple fix. I have a 2013 Chevy Sonic. Power steering went out/ intermittent. When I open the door it sort of resets. It kicks the steering wheel sometimes. Is this same issue?
Nope. My car is a Chevy cruise. The steering would lock while driving.
Iseekoutthetruth thanks again I will keep on searching for a fix :)
The power steering is a electric steering. My car needed a new computer module. It was under warranty.
I'd be rid of the trouble laden Cruze if the warranty is off and I wouldn't deal with that dealership though , they have already lied to you. Dealers can make all the difference no matter what the make of car or troubles the car has..if they want your business they make it right no questions asked. They can afford to spend a few buck to keep a loyal customer..these one time sales dealerships eventually get a real bad name.
yea I told my wife that. I told her if she wanted to trade her car inlets go to another dealer. so shes thinking about it.
Same car same color same issue. Maybe I just bought exact this car. R u in NC?
No, Arizona.
I bought a new battery was having same issue car ran fine but power steering has gone out again
My problem was the computer module. Your power steering is all electronic. Mine was under warranty still so they put in a New 1.
Iseekoutthetruth thank you
My power steering light popped on in my 2014 Cruze. The light did go off so I'm getting a state inspection done now. Hopefully if it's my battery, then they'll find it & anything else.
It was the computer modulator. The Deslership knows about this issue but won't tell you unless you asked them. They replaced mine.
My car is doing the same thing... Was your battery hitting the at 15v? i had corrosion on my battery also. Could it just be the battery?
it was not my battery but the computer module.
Cassandra Morgan I’m having the same issue lots of white corrosion on the negative battery cable end and was going up to 15v on the Voltage reader on dash
Did you remember how you ficx it?
Stick to older model vehicles cuz they’re less maintenance and more easily to maintain
Yup
HI! One of your awnsers its. control module need to be updated. Did they install a new module in?? And it was under waranty but do you know like how much do they charge to fix it??
mine was under warranty, all I know is they told me they updated it. we have not had any problems since.
@@Iseekoutthetruth your vídeo its so helpful por chevy cruze owners that we are facing the same problem that you do and you have it fix and we dont yet.. i bought a extended waranty in my cruze i hope they cover part of it.. thank you so much por your time
@@Enrtorr I will let you know something else. Your Radiator over flow hose can crack very easily and leak water all over your oil filter area. It connects to your water outlet and these things crack very easily and cause your car to over heat.
Mines did the same thing but I changed the battery and i haven’t had any issues since
Ours was the computer module.
After you changed the battery have you ever had that problem again?
Yeah an update would be nice. Did you have any issues again?
You would think after all the issues they had with the cobalt they would replace it with a better product.
Right.
The newer cars have the auto stop feature on them that saves gas
I test drove a New Tahoe wit that set up.I don't like it at all, I lost interest in new cars after that. I drive a 2000 Honda CRV Now, I love it.
Hyland Auto Service in Tempe has the best mechanics. 😉😉😉 but any mechanics hate electronics. They dont teach that when you've got a master tech, 25 years experience won't tell you how to fix any of these new piles of crap. Lol
it was cover'd under warranty and is fixed now.
so the new battery fix the problem? the sign in the middle (power steering service)
nope, it was a temporary fix. what the problem was, it was the electronic power steering program needed to be uploaded, it was also draining the battery. so we got the upload done and the battery changed for free. covered under warranty.
thank you for replying I have the same problem your video was very helpful
Omg, that's literally all this 8 min video needed to be. You are the worst youtuber ever.
Max McCarty guy likes to hear himself talk
Max McCarty THANKYOU.GIF
Going through this now
We Had To Get The Computer Reset. It was under warranty. Chevy Knows About This Problem.
I notice you replied to everyone it was not you're battery it was you're computer module.. so how do you fix the computer module please..
I have a the same problem but dealers are expensive .. if it's just the battery it would be cheaper to do myself
I do not know how they fixed it, my car was under warranty, all they told me was they upgraded the computer module.
Most people think its the battery and they disconnect/change the battery which resets the power steering control module and it works for a little while. They mostly flashed new code to the eprom/chip or replaced the power steering control module with a new one since it was under warranty. ......ClutchmanWV
@@MrMC-js1gu it was the control module for the power steering, and yes it was under warranty.
Your*
I have a 2015 and I told them when i was buy it it seems like it didnt want to start but then THEN I HAD A HUG ISSUE LAST YEAR AND THEY GAVE ME A NEW BATTERY SO IM CURRENTLY HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND I HAVE 200 MILE LEFT TO GET IT FIX UNDER WARRANTY . SMH DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS THAT I SHOULD ASK THE DEALER TOMORROW
Tell them to fix it lol. I am not a Mechanic so do not know what's wrong with your car, dont let them give it back to you until it's fixed. It's under warranty tell them FIX IT.
I think they took you on the battery, I would have told them that you had to buy a battery while it was still under warranty.
Iseekoutthetruth I kinda of thought so. That's ok. Karma is a bit@#
Dude thanks for the help but you talk way too much off the subject
That's my style Dude.
Was it because of the battery?
No, It was The Computer Module.
Mine keeps saving service power steering. The dealership saving their going to charge $100 just see whats wrong. Trying to search myself.
The module controls everything, mine needed to be updated.
Oh ok so I need my air looked it bc it doesnt come on right away. Im told its a switch, and my fuel in motored electronically so the module could be a possibly for that?
I would say, have it looked at. My problem was the battery kept dying and the power steering would lock up. IT ended up being the Computer module needed to be upgraded.
but you still have the same problem???
No, it was fixed under warranty.
Iseekoutthetruth you find out what the specific issue was?
I have the same problem with my 2014 chevy equinox. So many problems with my chevy equinox.
I know nothing about Chevy Equinox.
I face this problem 2013 cruze after 2 years of ussage. It keep on return twice after i get it fix. Dam now sometimes when i want to drive it especialy long distance i am scared if it happen again
It was the computer module was going bad and they had to replace it under warranty.
Ya i just watched the news on you tube and this problem is not only on cruze but most of chevy car and its not a new issues. Will they make a recall for this issues, ?
Azizul Mohd Ali no clue, it's working great now.
Azizul Mohd Ali Is the power steering for the 2013 Cruze electronic as well?
Iseekoutthetruth Can I replace the computer module myself?
They should have fixed it before the warranty expired and you should have insisted
it did get fix under the warranty.
@@Iseekoutthetruth thx so much. Unfortunately my warranty expired few weeks ago and now i only have the powertrain warranty. I don't know if they made a recall for this but if they didn't then i'm in deep trouble.
@@emilramirez2960 sorry to hear that, it will be expensive.
@@Iseekoutthetruth thx i appreciate it. I will take it to Auto Zone tomorrow morning to check the battery...i know isn't good since the problem showed up yesterday and i'll give it a shot just to see if by any chances mine is just the battery...but then i know i may go thru the same process you went except for the fact i don't have warranty anymore so if the problems comes back i'll most likely keep it parked for the next month.
How did you get the free battery?
my car was still under warranty.
If it happens again, try using ur extra key.
its fixed now.
Has the battery been replaced on your wife's Cruze recently, what's the mileage and has it had any problems recently???
But I've had more problems with this car in 2 years then ive ever had with any other car ive had before. And my first car was a 94 escort with over 300k miles..
@@ianseiler8813 there is a small hose with a plastic connector thats right above the oil filter area, they tend to xrack and leak also. I had to replace mine twice.
@@Iseekoutthetruth are you talking about the body control computer is what you had to change?
@@hannahherrington7272 I have no idea what it was called, just know its the computer for the steering and battery.
You mean we should change the battery.
It was the computer going bad. It has electronic steering.
All you people need to stop buying GM read rhe consumer reports they’re junk. Go Honda or Toyota.
I own 2 Hondas now.
My car is doing the same thing I have a 2014 Chevy Cruz and when I ope the hood to put some steering wheel fluid 😳 I was shock that didn’t take it I said what car doesn’t take this so I goggle it and found this. I not getting any more Chevy I had it colbart Chevy and it was trash. Next car will be a Nissan or a Toyota
It has a electronic steering. Most new cars are like that now.
Buy Toyota or Honda
I own 2 honda CRV's.
Thanks!
thanks for watching.
Chevy Sonic is same type of Electronic Steering
It's a terrible design.
I have a 2013 cruze that need a new battery every other year smh
that sucks.
Don't buy a chevy again they are poorly made, get a Toyota or Honda even Hyundai are better than GM I used to have a Equinox and was the worst SUV in the planet Cheap parts cheap materials i get rid of it and got a Toyota RAV4.
I have a Honda CRV now.
@@Iseekoutthetruth Excellent choice! Those CR-V last forever
Stop buying American bro.
why?
Toyota and Honda are your best bet if you are looking for excellent reliability and resale value. Own these brands once and you will never buy another American car again. Check out Honda's 2017 CR-V, and Toyota's Rav4 and you will feel and see a big difference not to mention again the resale value at the end of the day.
I'm not a 19 year old kid. I have owned at least 10 hondas, 5 toyotas. 2 Datsuns. I always go back to American made cars.
Its made in australia i have 1 in new zealand
They are expensive junk
@@FLJAMESFL ur a dumbass
Just need a new battery
nope it needed a new computer control Module, we put a New Battery and that one kept dying also, the power steering is electronic and controlled by a computer. The Dealership had to put in a New Control Module and A New battery.
Iseekoutthetruth dam well same problem here I bout a battery, but didn't install yet. I've just seen the power steering this morning pop up.
mine was still under warranty.
@@Iseekoutthetruth what kind of module is it?? Body control module?
