The one thing that I still don’t understand about these parts. Is simply due to the fact on how is it that that the UN Cosmo forces were able to completely rebuild their navy in less than three years? Because if I remember correctly when the Yamato went on its journey in 2199 only it and I think it was like three other ships were left of the Cosmo navy. Yet somehow, they have been able to completely rebuild their military force in such a short amount of time. Not only that, but they have seemingly made the wave motion gun, a piece of standard battleship equipment. Something which I believe probably doesn’t sit too well with the majority of the former crewmembers of the Yamato.
Earth has the benefit of a pocket dimension where time goes faster, they basically situated millitary RnD, Shipbuilding and Most of the economy there. The Cosmo Navy publicly is still somewhat tiny. But the secret fleet is basically piles upon piles of ships.
So, if I'm not mistaken When they used the Cosmo Reverse System to heal Earth after 2199. It unexpectedly create a dimensional pocket, a time vault where time moves 10x faster than the real world. Eventually they managed to build a factory there both for Research and Development, and for mass producing ships. That's how they managed to rebuild and improve Earth Navy so quickly.
My only problem with this new interpretation is the escalating scale of forces just went from realistically easy to follow, to ridiculously excessive numbers without any real stakes. Where in the original series you had something akin to a hundred ships at most facing a vastly more powerful fleet, and fighting bitterly to pull a Pyrrhic victory at the end, (or so they thought), this was just two sides spamming thousands of endless Ctrl-z fleets at each other with no real sense of scale or strategy.. it’s ‘well my fleet has a thousand dreadnoughts!” ‘oh yeah?! Well MY fleet has TWO thousand dreadnoughts!” ‘Yeah?! Yeah?! Well I have ANOTHER Fleet of TEN THOUSAND Dreadnoughts, that shoot laser beam Sword ships!” …. Bigger and more numerous doesn’t really amount to better or more entertaining than the original…
