I just wish they would make one about real life Yamato like they did for Bismarck, cause I can just imagine how good of a music video they could make if they teamed up with wargaming again to make it.@@starpowerninja
@@starpowerninja His interaction with the child soldier / cabin boy (the "scram" head movement and the giggling kid running off to tell Vance about the lovely Colonel paying Herr Major a visit) and his sitting on the deck of a demolished ship's bridge whilst having a smoke of defiance told me far more about his character, that he was in his own way a cool if somewhat burned out guy, than we ever learned about some of the other Gamilas leadership. That he put getting elderly and child soldiers home safe plus teaming up with Wulf to aid in the evacuation says more about his leadership qualities than Desslar's on some levels. I do like how Earth fleet told the Garillians (correct me about name if i am wrong) not to come we will destroy any who come to the battlefield and the response to Terran generosity was to be laughed at and called cowards.
The garmillas war was started by earth opening fire on a garmillas fleet at pluto, and they got crushed until queen starsha or whatever it was gave the highly militant people who attacked an unknown fleet unprovoked a system that she knew could make a horrifically destructive weapon, and then proceeded to be shocked when they did exactly that with it. When did this happen? earth won at best incredibly costly phyrric victories until a third party saved them.
Battleship Yamato or it should have been called Dreadnought Kamehameha. Now the only problem about the anime is that the Battleship Yamato should have never made all the way to Iscandar. What the Garmillas Navy should have done was send large fleet of dreadnought class ship and carriers to deal with Yamato. Look Yamato as only a small number of sailors compared to the much larger Empire.

Just wanted to say I’ve always appreciated that SBY/Star Blazers-the (slightly) more PG version we got in the US, incorporated a lot of nods to historical WWII ships. It wasn’t just Yamato! Those multi-deck Gamilas/Gamalon carriers were based on the early battleship/battlecruiser carrier conversions used by the IJN during the early years of the war. Most of them were reconstructed as single-deck carriers in the late ‘30s but they did retain some quirky features: That carrier with the two big-ass triple-barreled positron canons was inspired by the IJN Kaga, sunk at Midway. When Kaga was designed it was expected that carriers would have to fend off enemy cruisers from time to time she was equipped with a pair of 20 cm (7.9”) triple turrets on her second deck. The Andromeda class space battleships wwere loosely based on America’s never completed Montana-class super-battleships, which would have rivaled the Yamatos size-wise if they had been completed. Okita’s last command before Yamato/Argo is the Kongo, which, IRL, was one of four WWI vintage battlecruisers refitted & up-armored & re-classified as fast battleships. All four Kongo-class BBs/BCs saw a lot of action in WWII. They were the least powerful heavies in the IJN fleet in terms of throw weight but their extensive boiler upgrades boosted their speed to almost 31 knots, which made them very handy for hit and run actions. (In 2199 lore Kongo gets an extensive refit & is one of the few pre-Yamato EDF units that stays in service & sees some real action.) There’s also a Bismarck-class space battleship and a Hood-class battlecruiser, a Lexington-class battle-carrier derived from the Andromeda-class. The Lexington retains the Andromeda’s twin-wave motion gun and the two forward shock cannon turrets. The aft portion of the ship is enlarged and dedicated to flight operations. There’s also a Hyuga-class “support ship” in the third series which looks like it draws some inspiration from both the WWII hybrid IJN battle carries and the modern Hyuga and Ise, which are 19,000 tonne through-deck helicopter destroyers that are mostly intended for anti-submarine warfare & command & control work but also pack a pretty mean punch on their own. There’s quite a bit more, really.

I've seen two AMVs with this anime-song combination, and I've noticed that both you and the other editor didn't take an opportunity that I would if I was good enough to make AMVs: you didn't sync footage of enemy commanding officers voiding their bowels when about to be hit with the WMG/seeing what the Yamato was capable of, of which I'm sure the series gave plenty, to the lyrics "...and their foes can't believe their eyes...". Other that overly-verbose-but-still-minor nitpick, excellent job! Well done!

That's why domel was my favourite character, his respect for his enemies and comrades alike compared to other commanders who looked down on others
