for anyone wondering, nanno is the personification of karma! no one knows what she is exactly though many say she's the child of the devil but anyway she mostly goes to schools to give people what they deserve. girl from nowhere is a great series and definitely watch it!!
But like, the actress of Nanno say that Nanno is the daugther of the devil, so i thank that is canon

Series name: Girl from Nowhere
Brief story: Each episode has different stories and they all are inspired by true events except the "nano part" (Bullying is really bad in Thailand)
The character "Nano" is Mara Amaratayakul (Amar meaning immortal) and Mara is a devil like being in Buddhism which is associated with death, rebirth and desire.

This series with Nanno has such interesting episodes! I'm curious why Nanno still punished Yuriy, even though the red ribbon on the documents Yuriy gave to her implied that they were working towards the same goal
yuri was reborn because of Nano and her goal was to wreak havoc she wanted students to seek vengeance instead of freedom and that's y Nano tried to punish her. at the end of the season 2 we get to learn clearly her intentions ,so no they are 2 different

Meanwhile Yuri Would Actively try to Make Situations worse and Punish them Herself
They were initially going to work together, however nannos ways are very slow, because she likes to have an extremely satisfying end leaving everyone tortured and traumatized while yuri likes to work extremely efficient, which means its not as satisfying but the job gets done technically. Which is why nanno is always one step ahead, yuri is too reckless. Nanno is the embodiment of karma while yuri is revenge

The reason Nanno can clone herself is because she’s not human, she’s a demon who takes on the appearance of an innocent and attractive high school girl and moves from school to school using her supernatural powers and manipulative abilities to bring karma and cause a little mischief in each school she attends
yeah its really cool but i dont think Yuri and Nanno should be enemies because they both seem to be working for the same goal; for the people at the school to pay for their wrongdoings.

I’ve watched this and I grew up with this kind of twisted system until I moved to the UK, and I still watch this recap. I adore this series.
PS. If you’re Thai, you’ll understand what seem to be the plot holes. Why does no one intervene? Why the fluff is everything like the way it is? That’s the bloody problem. No one give a fudge. Everyone is corrupt. And most things are symbolic, yes, but these elements represent the truth and the festering wounds of Thai society.

Hello a born Thai person and currently a college student in Thai here. Compared to other countries, Thailand is a fairly conventional country with most teachers or the elderly giving a lot of emphasis on preserving "Tradition" (The key answer to your question is this word). They see an adjustment to the traditions in holidays as disrespecting their ancestors. So they despise the modern way of celebrating our holidays and see them as the reason I have said earlier. And no it is not like we do not care, there are several protests and raising awareness online about getting rid of unnecessary "tradition" like having all students keep their hair black and short, or to wear the same uniforms or else they would be punished in terms of academic scores or behavioral score which if too much is deducted then it would affect their future college appliance. Hope this answers your question.
TL;DR some of these things you see in these videos are dramatized, but most of the concept and the current issues are there just because it would be "disrespectful to the ancestors" and the excuse of "having to preserve the tradition" told by people that might not existed (or just the people that tell them to preserve the tradition as well)

Nanno is more like "Tomie"( if someone knows Junji ito,he should have probably read about her mainly). But, Tomie is more like a manipulative, revengeful creature who, is way beautiful than others and in every arc in Junji Ito's stories someone always tends to kill her because of her immense beauty. There is a urge in their body to kill her because she is so beautiful. They even say after killing her that, " She made me do it, I Still Love Her, it's all her fault!!??".And every body part of her can regenerate into a new TOMIE. If you cut her in millions of pieces there will be millions of Tomie. And the story goes on. But, Nanno is like the same except she teaches some good morals to society.

I have a question, why does Lisa not notice Yuri's bright RED hair ribbons but she noticed Nanno's GREEN ribbons?
The implication is that teachers can easily bend the rules, and although Yuri broke one of them, she is still regarded as a collaborator against the problem student (Nanno). The pink suit worn by the principal serves to highlight how susceptible to corruption and prone to power abuse he is. The person in power is exempt from all rules.

Simply put, cloning becomes one of Nanno's abilities in situations similar to this one, where Nanno is locked up and left with no chance to escape or survive in order to regain control. It's an interesting concept because, aside from being inevitable, no one can harm her in the slightest, she has other abilities that make her vastly superior to any other fictional character who shares a kindred spirit with her.
I remember the first time you recapped one of these episodes that made me binge watch the whole series. It's a really great watch

At the start of the episode, Nanno enters the school and the frame of the movie changed from 16:9 to 3:4. At the end of the movie, the frame changed back to its typical size. It of course, resembles the j harsh system of the school and how everything is uptight and legitimately suffocating for the students. At the end the frame turns back to normal. However, the color remand black and white resembles the lack of individuality, self-expression, uniqueness between individual remains. It indicates that, the real world is just another Pantanawrittanya, without the extreme uptightness. It manifests within society itself. Never does it hit you right at the face like this school, but it is always there.
This is seriously the best episode from GFN in my opinion. And I can’t find the best words to describe this detail that I stated but hope you guys see it like I do.
this isn't the first time Girl from Nowhere has used a "clone" tactic to show how powerful Nanno is in one of the episodes early in the series Nanno dies several times and gets buried each time. a running theory in the fandom is that she's the daughter of the devil but aside from that she's the physical representation of karma. i definitely recommend the series though it's one of my favorites

I can actually explain the cloning part! Nanno is a based of Junji Itos “Tomie” it’s a series of short stories about a girl that’s a female fatale (a beautiful women, but the people specifically men in Tomie who interact with her misfortune happens upon them” whenever Tomie dies any parts of her will regenerate into a new Tomie and example is the first chapter when she gets SPOILERS LAST WARNING, chopped into 42 pieces and each one of those pieces regenerate into a New Tomie

Fun fact: Nanno was inspired by the manga character "Tomie Kawakami" who was made by Junji ito.
Both of them are quite similar
Tomie Kawakami has a mole under her eye while nanno does aswell. Tomie can also resurrect from the dead by regeneration and also makes more clone by blood, hair etc. Nanno can also do the same thing.
The only difference is that Tomie manipulates men in doing her biddings and Nanno brings karma and justice to those who deserves it.
Eitherways, both of them are pretty and I like them both :)

My friend watched this without knowing what Gfn was, and when I was watching season 1 and hadn’t gotten to season 2, she kept asking me “CAN WE PLEASE WATCH THE NO COLOR EPISODE” and I was so confused because I didn’t know there was an episode without color…
