Those asking how come she couldn't walk properly after getting off (since logically she would get off it every day for the bathroom, bedroom, etc.) need to understand that this was rather symbolic and metaphoric getting off that pedestal

this was pretty interesting to watch. it's a bit of a rollercoaster where you wish that the girl would become independent and grow detached from her previous life, but the reality of it makes the movie good. breaking routines, and moving on from abuse and old patterns are very tough. she actually needed help

@Philip sometimes we can "own" triggers of past hurts rather than running from them. The point was that the occupation of "sitting as a trophy" wasn't necessarily bad if it made her happy. Nonetheless, I'm still trying to crack what the metaphor of them not bothering to engage her in a proper conversation means. Perhaps, in today's world, people assume that people with beauty automatically lack intellect? Pretty interesting movie by the way.

To the people who don't understand: This movie isn't supposed to seem "realistic" because she doesn't go pee, sleep or shower. It's meant to show how toxic a relationship can be. Don't confuse love and abuse. The movie is trying to show how Amelia seems so happy with her boyfriend until he demands her to do things she doesn't want to. Therefore, she gets mentally ill and a bit crazy. But at the end, she looks happy once again. But not fully happy. It is possibly trying to show that how much of these type of relationship can impact on your health (⚠This is just my opinion ⚠)

@@ManelNaom It doesn’t make one a big narcissist at all. She was in a toxic relationship with some guy that she thought she could trust. So she did it for him, she didn’t do it for herself. Even if she put herself on the pedestal, it doesn’t mean she’s a narcissist. It’s means she loves and accepts herself.
Edit: I changed my mind a little bit, I think in the ending, since she gotten out of a very toxic relationship. She puts herself on the pedestal because unfortunately when someone just got out of a toxic relationship, they sometimes keep things that is related to their abuser and I think her being on the pedestal represents that.

This is called "love bombing" where you show your partner obsessive and continuous affection then all of a sudden become cold or distant to them. Its like making them dependent to your touch and affection. Its pretty cruel especially when narcissists know their partner loves them back then all of a sudden becomes distant to them

It's not about looking at her, its about controlling her. Thats why he moved his desk when she put on her best outfit; he wanted to show her she isnt in control of him, that he won't let her have any power in the relationship. And once he broke her, he didnt even notice her leave because he was satisfied that he "caught" her.
This is exactly how narcissistic abuse relationships are. They become the perfect partner, then they ask you to rely on them fully because you're so special, then once the relationship is real and no longer a fantasy, they leave you alone with their trauma and find a new toy.
In a way, narcissists are addicted to the capture of their prey, and are not interested in playing with toys they already broke. People are functions to them, like an ai program they find useful; they arent attached or drawn to people for any reason than furthering their desires.
So, yeah, he *could* have just done a portrait, but then looking at her was never the point, *because he only ever wanted to posess her*.

I have some movie requests. Korean entertainment is very popular right now, so I'm not sure if you already recapped these films.
Forgotten (2017), it’s about a boy that moves into a new house with his family. Ever since moving to the house, his family started to act strange and discovered a dark secret and later found out it’s not his real family. This movie comes with a huge plot twist.
Shark: The Beginning (2021), I just got finished watching this one and I liked it. Also in Korea, it’s about a high school nerd that was sent to prison after stabbing (but not killing) his bully in self-defense. While in prison, he was bullied even more and was threatened to be killed when he get out, so he was trained to fight by another inmate who is a martial artist (and a murderer). Several months later and after very intense training, he became vicious, more athletic, and fearless.

another important thing that this story tells: NEVER LISTEN TO A MAN WHEN HE TELLS YOU TO QUIT YOUR JOB AND BECOME A HOUSWIFE. i know plenty of women who regrets quitting her job. just. dont do it. think about what YOU want. if your guy really does love you he wud never say "quit your job for me" especially when you spent your entire life trying to achieve that. ofc its a different thing if you yourself wanna be a housewife, becuz thats what YOU want and not someone else's wish. this might sound like common sense to some ppl but girls can be naive and blind in the face of love
