    Question for all girls watching:
    Which of these personas best describes you and your life struggles? Who can you relate to the most?
    - Mitsuko, a highschool student with psychotic killer teachers
    - Keiko, a runaway bride and lesbian
    - Izumi, a popular marathon runner *who just learned the truth*
    Personally, I best see myself as Mitsuko, because I am a junior in high school and I tend to worry about getting perfect grades, except unlike Mitsuko, my teachers are really nice and *definitely don't want to kill me if I misbehave/mess up.*

    Wow, this movie made me cry. I have never seen it, but seeing and hearing how you narrate it hits home so much for me. As a woman, I struggle in the same way, though not quite as crazy as she was depicted, I still cried when I thought about how society views me. Thank you for this.

    • @ro4eva
      @ro4eva Рік тому +2

      Perhaps it's time to stop crying. Women, on average, can see more colors than men (not by a huge margin, but still significant enough that it could be used as an advantage in certain careers). Women also have more sensitive abilities to smell and taste, among other things. Women are not useless (neither are men, but that's beside the point of this comment).
      P.S: If there's a group of people laughing at you because you're different, laugh back at them because they're all the same.

That you decided that needed to be your starting argument shows how little you listened to this recap or listen to women who are upset about how society run by men views women! Not how we view ourselves. We are well aware we're useful and good at many things. It's society that tells us we're only good as vaginas for men.

  • @justjames4

    The symbolism in this movie is interesting. After you explained that this movie's purpose is actually being an abstract story about the struggles of gay women in Japan, that aspect of this movie is very clear, but there is still one mystery...
    It was technically never truly shown what "real life" is in this story. This story mustn't only exist in that abstract way considering the main character of the movie has one consciousness in the video game despite being in different bodies with different identities, and considering the fact that she knows that she comes from somewhere real. When Mitsuko got to "real life", she was actually far in the future, not where she had expected to be, so we never discovered the world she was familiar with. I think that one of the high school settings is "real life", since the character that created the game Mitsuko was trapped in mentioned that he admired her during high school, and since the main character's consistent consciousness was Mitsuko, as shown (at 8:26) when Aki gets the main character to turn back into her original identity as Mitsuko, followed by Mitsuko having that identity when she escaped the video game. However, there are two schoolgirl iterations of the main character. The first schoolgirl iterations at the beginning of the movie seems to be Mitsuko's origin before any chaos happened, but the second second schoolgirl iteration is portrayed as more "real" throughout the movie despite existing after supernatural chaos happened, which is very confusing. There is also the fact that all characters in both high school settings are deliberately female as it was intended by the game in-story and by the theme of the movie, which adds to the confusion.
    My theory is that the second schoolgirl iteration of Mitsuko is the real one, since it is portrayed as such, but this movie did not show the real high school setting, the movie showed a survival horror video game recreation of it. Mitsuko might have got trapped in the video game during a long unknown amount of time after Mitsuko finished high school, in the future when the science of video games and cloning will supposedly be a lot more advanced than it is now. The character that made the video game using the DNA of Mitsuko and her friends said in the movie (which is not found in this Mystery Recapped video) that he got the DNA in spring of the year 2034, and this is a 2015 movie. Future technology sci-fi shenanigans is also probably why there is a younger and older version of that man. The man probably trapped her in the game which preserved her for the 150 years, and when she finally escaped, he wasn't finished with her and was ready for his ultimate conclusion to sleep with her. After the ending played out, Mitsuko killing herself and doing so again as multiple different identities within the game was because she wanted to save the video game clones of her friends, because her real friends presumably already passed away by the time Mitsuko was 150 years into the future, so saving the clones was the next best thing when her old life was completely gone. Once Mitsuko died, and her identities in the video game followed suit, the game's supernatural dangers no longer had a main character to target like they are supposed to, thus saving the clone friends from being caught in any of that lethal conflict. The ending being a snowy field most likely signifies the afterlife and Mitsuko finally being at peace there, at the point when the conflict was all over, which is especially suggested since she appeared in that setting in her death position. The snow might have actually been a huge tangible cloud for all I know, if that's what kind of afterlife this story was trying to portray. Mitsuko even had the school uniform at the beginning of the movie, before there was any danger, likely signifying safety and/or representing the fulfillment of her yearning for her surroundings to be normal. I don't think this means that the first schoolgirl Mitsuko is the real one since that has evidence against it. I may be wrong though, since I don't have unquestionable knowledge of what went behind decisions for this movie. Anyway, "It's over now.", Mitsuko said as she ran off-screen to enjoy her everlasting freedom.

    however, it doesn't matter how significant and relevant the meaning of the story is
    the whole thing is ruined when you leave the audience the entire movie asking WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?
