- After its initial announcement in 2015, Lords of the Fallen is finally on track to release. It's coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC and offers not one but two worlds for players to traverse - Axiom, the Land of the Living, and Umbral, the Land of the Dead.
Players venture through the Souls-like world with the game being developed on Unreal Engine 5. There are multiple starting weapons, magic types and an entire mechanic revolving around bridging the lands of life and death.

One correction, if the geust dies they do not return to their world like in other souls games as the video states. They instead drop an effigy where they died and the host can choose to ressurect them in a rather lengthy process on the spot or the host dies and you both just respawn. Very simple and seamless.
Or you can respawn them at the next Vestige.

Hope it's not too demanding on PC, but it might be since it's Unreal Engine 5.
It feels phenomenal. Performance on Medium for me is the same as Elden Ring on Ultra, but the game looks much better.
Good news for console players today! The devs dropped an FAQ on Reddit confirming both modes on console would be running in native 4k using “multiresolution techniques” to target 30 and 60 fps for each mode. We’ll see how launch goes of course but I will say I was very glad to hear this
why would anyone buy a game that does not run on 60 FPS min is beyond my comprehension. People are paying for the NEXT GEN consoles, yet developers give you trash..
@@FlatEarthPhotography Actually it's not the developers fault here but the console manufacturers. The ps5 is equivalent to a 2070 super, it's too weak to run an UE5 game that implements lumen and nanite at native 4k 60 fps. Just because Microsoft and Sony advertise next gen 4k it doesn't mean it's true all the way. It's why consoles get a ''pro'' version in the middle of their life cycle. People should be more realistic and expect 1440p 60 instead of 4k from a 2070s equivalent console when it comes to UE5

@@FlatEarthPhotography Exactly, don't trust the marketing, trust the numbers. Anyways with current upscaling technology looking so close to native personally I would gladly play any single player game on a console at 4k.
@@FlatEarthPhotography honestly I don’t have a problem with playing a game that runs at 30 as long as it’s stable. I just played ff16 in quality mode and it ran and looked great 99% of the time.

@@jordanfilion3494 You won't learn anything about the 2023 title by asking about the 2014 title. It's technically a sequel, but it's better to think of it as a reboot of the series. Everything about it has been redesigned from the ground up.

regarding the performance on consoles - I'm confused. On the chat on Reddit last friday the devs declared that both the performance and quality modes on consoles will run in native 4k res. In the video it says they confirmed that it won't. Which one is true?

@@claudiizzlethe thing is that both quotes have come from the devs. At an interview a couple weeks ago they said console would be quality 30fps upscaled 1440 and performance 60fps upscaled 1080. Then on Friday during an AMA on the Reddit one of them answer question about performance and said both modes on console would be native 4k dynamic resolution. Sooo yea it’s kinda up in the air right now til they clarify wether the response on the AMA was a mistake or not
I have been a tester of the game for the last 8 months.
Since the first time i entered the world 60 fps was a thing.
There are 2 modes for console.
Quality and Performance and a Fps boost for quality mode which is between performance and quality and runs at 40 fps instead of 30 while reducing the graphics just a bit.
Its similar to Lies of P.
I dont know how the pc version plays but i wouldn't think it wont have a 60 fps mode.
I absolutely cannot wait to play this game, but Lies of P is making the wait a little easier.

Nope, impossible. You'll need to go into umbral within the first 5 minutes of the game. A challenge run where you only play in umbral is possible, though.

I find it weird that games haven't utilized Soul Reaver's world shifting mechanic apart from a single level in Titanfall 2 and Dishonored 2.
it's very hard to do a seamless transition between 2 overlapped levels
First Lords of the fallen was first souls-like which was not made by FromSoftware.
The way the character is walking and running is funny 😅
That’s still one of the things I hope that gets fixed or adjusted. Looks like your character runs around with a pole infused to your spine.

Yeah the original was very good, had some issues that got fixed and a few that still need work, but overall a really good game that got overlooked.
I’m really nervous for this game. From some I hear it’s great and others I hear it’s kinda bad I’m a lot of ways. I just hope the combat is good.
Some of this stuff feels like it will make the game super tough. Like having chip damage whike blocking, and only being able to get it back by yanking their soul, attacking it, then attacking them again once the soul goes back to their body. That seems like a lot just to get health back. And from blocking at that. Why are all of these new souls-like games making you take chip damage from blocking? Makes no sense at all. At least Lies of P had perfect guard, and also let you get your health back with like one or two hits, along with buffs to reduce chip damage and more health regain when attacking. The “one bonfire per area in NG+ unless you have the stuff to make more” seems like even more artificial difficulty.
I don’t know where you talking about, LOTF give you much more ways to heal more then the majority of other souls games, not only you healing flask like darksouls but if you get hit you can get you HP back by hitting the enemy, even if that’s not enough you can rip their souls and attack that souls to get your HP back.
Guess what? There is also a magic system with healing abilities, like, what more healing you want ?…
For the damage you take even if you have your shield or weapons up is made so you can focus on specific builds instead of using the shield as a very cheesy way of playing extremely safe, it reward you for taking risk, if you want to focus on a shield build you have to find shields that negate more damage, you also have a parry mechanic much more forgiving then any other souls game.
Im about to put 10k hours into LOTF pvp!

One thing I need and want to know is if you can mix armors like what I’ve read from the previous game is that you can only use complete sets of armors so if you are unable to combine armors then for me is a no for this game cause i like yo equip different boots and gloves and helmets and chest armor like in all previous like souls games
You can mix armors. I saw the hud earlier and it had specific slots for each armor piece like the Fromsoft games

The original LotF was a good game once it had been patched. I heard it was ropey on release and it got slated in reviews for it. By the time I played it, it ran flawlessly. Worth playing if you didn't already.

This is a soft reboot (sequel) to the Lords of the Fallen (2014). So it will be quite different.

Normally im not interested of Dark Souls or Demon Souls souls like games but this Lords of the fallen looks really awesome game I've been interested of this since Gamescom 2023, Dark world looks beautiful defienitily I like world of dead umbral, character and monster designes are cool, battle system and mechanics are interesting. I have two platforms where I play Lords of the fallen and these are Xbox Series S or Pc, which is better I've been thinking playing this with my Xbox series S and big tv. Why would this interest you when those don't? It's definitely a riff on Souls. I don't mean to downplay Hexworks' innovations, but it's fundamentally the same car, just a new coat of paint. Now that sounds great to me, but I can't in good faith recommend it to someone who isn't into Souls. It's 90% the same game.
Having played the three Dark Souls games, DS3 is the best for first time I think. More accessible and forgiving.

25/30hrs seems short……
Developers estimated one playthrough to take 35-40hrs for typical Souls players. Which is on the short side, about the same as Bloodborne, but not bad.
I also read that you can't do everything in one playthrough. The game has three endings, and apparently each one has some exclusive content. No telling how much though.
Every time I stumble upon this game I am reminded of I would like a new Souls game by FromSoft. This game has very nice graphics but makes me feel nothing. Spongy player, spongy enemies, weird combat mechanisms...I don't know but I have the feeling this game is going to blow.
Thats longer than Dark Souls 3 which caps ar 18-24 hours.
When focusing on the main objectives, Dark Souls III is about 32 Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 98½ Hours to obtain 100% completion.

I'm getting this. Lies of P looks too empty to me. That seems like a deep sale game whereas this looks amazing (in my opinion)

I beat the original game and it was a rough experience and not in a good way. Truly, I hope it is a great game. Tbh it doesnt look that great to me so far. Have to wait and see and again I hope I'm wrong.

@@LordOfChaos.x I don't really like Ds2 either. I played the Scholar version once and then got rid of the game. I'm not one of those people that hate it but I new I would never play it again because I do see the major flaws holding the game back and found those flaws frustrating. I want them to remake ds2 like they did demons souls. And I have this opinion as a player that has played the soulsborne series a ton. Its my favorite video game series of all time no question as I have almost 2000+ hours in the games total and thats just a rough guess. It's just my opinion on Loftf and ds2. Like I said I hope the sequel is great.

Tried 3 seperate times and made it about 25 - 29, hours each attempt.

@@EMO1tachi carried, no. I’d like to play co-op with a friend and it would be nice if both players received the same progression. What’s the point of co-op if only one player is benefiting? Might as well just made the game single player only.
@@jordank87you actually benefit from playing coop, your xp and anything you find will carry over to your campaign, they did this way because the majority of people asked for this because they where missing important part of the story on their campaign

If you’re a company with investors,it’s kinda dmb to make a video game that hinders your audience because of game difficulty..You could easily just add an easy,normal,and hard mode.The souls games sell well,but imagine if it was easily accessible to casual players,their sales would more than likely triple.💯

The engine is set by default to render at 78% and has tsr enabled by default. Not even development can be done at native resolution. An empty level with 1 cube and 1 character reduces 20fps from the 120fps max just because of lumen.
