As my favorite way to play is dual katanas and rolling, I think picking Partisan to get used to everything the game has (except magic) is the best way. Then move to dual weapons and probably lighter armor to dodge a lot.

Lord of the fallen is the best looking game out of all souls like games 10/10, because of the looks alone I decided to play this. The other souls like game I played is Sekiro and I loved Sekiro, but that one is too hard and I don’t have much time to get gud.
I played a majority of the Souls games, but it wasn't until Elden Ring that I discovered, I *really* like hitting things with hammers. So for Lords of the Fallen, I might try doing that in-game as well.
It looks too much like the hunter though, I mean there’s a difference between being inspired by something and flat out copying something. Game looks good though, but it sure lacks an identity of its own.

The weapon animations are also diffrent, and the spell casting is also diffrent. Really it actually does have its own identity. Because while its influence is dark souls, its played a completely diffrent way. The mechanics are its own. So saying this game is copy and paste dark souls is ignorance on their part. Any dark souls veteran can litterally look at the way two handed weapons are used in this game a spot a huge diffrence compared to dark souls. Hell i can litterally look at thos game and already spot how diffrent the ranged combat is, compared to dark souls. Its going to be completely different from how weapons feel in the souls series. Which is where its key diffrences lie.

Condemned is the starting class for me, so long as I am able to acquire all of the other classes' armour and weapons in game. I love "starting from scratch" and earning everything.
I really think the Cultist, whilst knowingly set up to be weak in early game, has amazing potential to bloom into an absolute powerhouse. I am wanting to keep Inferno to 18, whilst buffing up the base stats + STR to make an armoured behemoth with a flaming sword.
Seems like no one is liking the polearm starter weapon. I was hoping those weapons would be good. But there seems to be an Inferno-scaling axe (Raw Mangler Axe) that drops early in the game with a bit of farming you can use instead, two if you want.
It sounds better than darksouls in my opinion. You don’t have to worry about crafting or buying so you can have fun with it rather than having the constant urge to save

@@De1usionsofGrandeur You can buy an item that can replenish the slots. So, theoretically you could by 99 of the replenish ranged slot items and then you multiply that by the number of ranges slots you have.

Wow, just switched to the Orian Preacher from my Warwolf build and holy crap (pun intended) did it make a difference. I didn't die even once (story aside) until Pieta - just a crazy difference in how it plays, how it feels, and how fun it is. I was in Umbral more as I wasn't afraid of the constant ambush, the mobs seem easier to handle and more fun. Each to their own but this is awesome for me. SUPER glad I stumbled on this guide!
I'm 100% in on Pyric Cultist and I appreciate actually showing the damage numbers in this video cause it actually only makes me more excited for how high damage pyromancy will be, cause even tho the enemies are strong to fire damage and grey numbers are popping up, its still comparable to the damage of the other ranged attacks, meaning when we get past the starting area, fire damage will be even stronger. I was concerned at first but actually seeing it now, it doesn't seem like the starting enemies being strong against fire will actually put the cultist at any real disadvantage compared to other classes, it seems more that it actually just balances them with the other's damage when you start.
So tempted to get the deluxe version so I can play as a Nazgûl the whole time but so many of the classes look great I think it would be hard to choose a bad starting class! Love the video, can’t wait for all of your Lords of the Fallen content!!
Honestly I thought about the deluxe simply because of that, but honestly no need to spend more money if your gonna unlock it later it would be cool but money is a factor in my decision so I just bought the base game
I might go Mournstead Infantry to play as a regular soldier and grab a sidesword early on to complement the spear, but honestly the knight is looking too good.
I had the same thought process using the spear for range and a short sword on the off hand for up close option as well as crowd control with the horizontal swings.
I rarely pre-order but this game just looks too good to pass up while waiting for the Elden Ring expansion. Plus, I got an 18% discount off the deluxe edition, so I paid less than the standard version.

You mentioned dual wielding possibly being the way to go for status effect builds. From your time in the game, are there actually any decent status effects worth building around? Im starting with status effects in mind, but if they aren't worth it, ill probably go my typical sword and board.

Hollowed Knight is the best class in terms of numbers. You'll level up your endurance pass 15 with almost any circumstance. This gives Hollowed Knight an edge in almost every build (exception is magic builds=.

Exceptions are AGI builds without STR invesment like 60 AGI or 40 AGI+20 RAD etc, Pure RAD/INF builds and Mixed INF builds. For AGI builds without STR, you go with Exiled Stalker. For any type of INF build you go with Pyric Cultist. Other than those you'll see Hallowed Knight in every build. So, if you want diversity Hallowed Knight is the best. It's like Vagabond from Elden Ring.

How do fire salts work? Do they replenish when you rest and if not how easy are they to obtain. I love the idea of running around with a flaming sword but its kind of pointless if you can only use twice then run out.

Hey newcomers like me, please note that some ranged weapons can be charged for more damage and efficiency at cost of timing. So I can clear ranged enemies with 2 charged arrow with bow. Normal shots takes 4
Lore wise obviously the Dark Paladin seems to be the correct choice with the Orian Preacher making the most sense after that so ill play either of those. There was a 17 minute gameplay footage that was released a while back that featured a swordsman that was dualwielding radiance swords and seemed to be casting buff spells on himself. I'd like to create a character similar to that so I wonder which class would be a better start with that in mind? Dark Paladin or Orian Preacher?
This is my 1st souls game and I didn't hesitate to go Delux edition 💿on it. Was thinking maybe the game should incorporate characters being able to hang on ledges in this game, just my thoughts💭

you can dye your armor in the game so that adds to it but it seems to me like regular souls games where the armor will have stats but wont outweigh the need for style

Seismic Slam is deadly, but you don't get it until a ways into the game.

I love the idea of having the most freedom possible when doing stat allocations. Might be tough at first but most rewarding later on.

Dark crusader be a great paladin.. I think the mournstead infantry is going be a beast.. I want a hybrid Melee with umbrol magic

A good note for condemned and stalkers, your bear hands scale s with agility and out damage almost every other starting weapon.

The Throwables ammo gauge on the HUD is replaced by a Mana gage when you switch to magic and vice versa.

It’s a consumable but they are farmable from enemies and can be bought at any vendor pretty much

I know the war wolf starts with the fire boom for their sword. Are those replenished at rests as well or they are one time use?
I think they're mana based, the more mana you have the more often you can use it (arrows/throwables bar shift to mana bar when you equip a spell)

How does umbral magic work do you have to pump both infernal and radiance or is it its own thing
Lore wise obviously the Dark Paladin seems to be the correct choice with the Orian Preacher making the most sense after that so ill play either of those. There was a 17 minute gameplay footage that was released a while back that featured a swordsman that was dualwielding radiance swords and seemed to be casting buff spells on himself. I'd like to create a character similar to that so I wonder which class would be a better start with that in mind? Dark Paladin or Orian Preacher?
This is my 1st souls game and I didn't hesitate to go Delux edition 💿on it.
Was thinking maybe the game should incorporate characters being able to hang on ledges in this game, just my thoughts💭
Highly recommend trying any of the actual souls games, just remember lords of the fallen isn’t a souls game but it is in the genre of a “soulslike”

There doesn’t seem to be an umbral magic starting class. Which would be the best to start with for that and how long before we get spells/catalysts if that’s our goal from the start?
Classes look fun.. going Dark Crusader for essentially a Strength/radiance build might switch for umbra magic.
was thinking the same wanna switch to umbra at some point though i dont know how much the low inferno stat will gimp you...

you can dye your armor in the game so that adds to it but it seems to me like regular souls games where the armor will have stats but wont outweigh the need for style

The only question I have is from what I have seen before from game previews of Lord Of The Fallen. Can every class use Radiance and Inferno? Also if they can, are they restricted by class on what and how much they can use? If any.
So is the ranged indicator just a different color depending on where you're using physical or magic ranged attacks?
ya when you're using a magic catalyst it'll show mana, and when you're using bows or throwing axes stuff like that itll show the slots for ammo

By the way, strength builds will have it easier early game, there's those 2 handed maces that can drop, and a mostly strength scaling shortsword

does performing a perfect deflect (or whatever it's known as in this game) negate all damage taken? Can every weapon be used to deflect?
