A little Load/Reload peppered with Death Magnetic, salted with Hardwired, the good stuff - so a mix n match modern Metallica - formulaic too a certain extent but I did love the song out of the four. Its not the worse IMO but I feel like everything sounds the same with them... Same riffs, same drumpatterns...its some cool mainstream heavy rock/thrash but all the songs just sound too similar...this song could have been on Hardwired easily...I just wish theyd try something new...all their albums have been different up untill and including st.anger and even tho some of them suck atleast they tried new things...after st.anger its been pretty much the same formula on every release... I dont think anyone expects anything else than mainstream music from metallica but that dont mean they cant get a bit more creative than this😅 I actually think Death Magnetic and Hardwired r their best albums since '88. Black album had a huge impact on me shen I was a kid and started playing guitar but now when I can listen to thede albums back to back I think the black album is very slow and boring and flat...most of the black album songs work much much better live IMO
Metallica is suffering from the edit since and justice. If every album had 8 or 9 songs they’d be amazing albums and each song can be a 1/4 shorter. They have greatness in them, but they’re bloating everything.
Good not great song. James: great voice, nice riffs, but not very good lyrics. Rob: cool intro, solid bass. Kirk: good solo, fits the song. Lars: uninspired, laid back drumming with ZERO drum fills, lazy Lars. So far for me: Lux Æterna: 7 Screaming Suicide: 7 If darkness had a son: 7 72 Seasons: 7.5. Lets hope the rest of the songs are better. Modern Metallica: Death Magnetic>>Hardwired>72 Seasons ( so far).
These 4 jokers have to be deaf 🙈🙉🙊😖😵. There's no damn way this song is the Best Track of the 4 . "If Darkness Had A Son" is Clearly the Best song so far ,🔥💥🤙🤘🤗🤑🙃🤔, especially the Solo . The other 3 Songs are Good , but the Solos are just Amateur hour . This Solo on this song sounded like a Weak Dave Untamed Mustang Solo really . Bob Rock was justified forcing Kirk to work Harder / Smarter on the Unforgiven One Solo and it payed off. Kirk doesn't have anybody in Studio obviously to challenge him that way , and it's shown through on the last 6 Metallica Albums now . At this point I would rather hear a Solo James has to offer in these , and past Metallica Songs .
100% right. This new song is by far the worst from the new singles. IMO the worst song since 1991. And "If Darkness Had A Son" the best with a little changes could have been on And justice... But they are just playing it safe... Look we still play metal but very simple trying not to scare or challenge anyone
It just a good song but not really great!composition wise ok but not amazing..I think Metallica are locked in that same formula(bubble) at the moment since Death Magnetic till now!...we want better compositions not just speed!..more heavy!... perhaps the should try concept albums ..I don't really know? ... But I'm not really blown away sorry!..like I said I would be more blown away if they compose something amazing like what they have done in the past!........The elements that would be mention or questioned would be Lars's drumming ? and Kirk solos?.....and their songs Chorus?...this ain't a masterpiece and everybody knows that! ..but is it good enough for my music collection?..YES!
Long Plodding Same Generic Sounding Metallica that we have today...I'm not gonna compare them to Metallica of Old...this is their sound that they choose , so be it
I was a Metallica fan but not a fanatic, this album is the most boring thing I heard in my life, for a little taste you have wait minutes and minutes and minutes... At least they tried to do something new even in St. Anger album. Thank you Metallica for the great music until 1990. If the name was different I am sure the comments would be more realistic. The real comment is not listen to music for free and say it is great. My generation paid for the albums and I bought every shit written on it Metallica. How much it is paid is the real comment. The real Metallica died years ago.
Metallica fanboys unite, drop to your knees and repeat in unison. "Oh hail Metallica"... NOT. '72 Seasons' isn't the worse song but its not very... original sounding. Play fast, play slow, a heavy pre-chorus, repeat... Two and half minutes too long. Agreed, Kirk's best solo so far, though half of it James apparently wrote. Speaking of James, love his lyrics. "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish..." Oh sorry wrong lyrist. Really James, can you write a song where every other word doesn't rhymes? I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the album. Maybe something will grab me by the short hairs, but so far, another Metallica album I won't be buying.
@@joshbrewer4309 Just finished listening to the eight songs I hadn't heard... My over all thoughts are the same as I wrote above. I will not be buying this album. Good thing about "72 Season"? Yes there are some. James' vocals were great on all but one song, 'Chasing Light'. I did not like his approach to this song. Best song, imho, is 'Room of Mirrors', though that change up in the main riff needed to be left on the cutting room floor. It nearly "F'd" up the whole song. I also liked Kirk's solo here. As for the other songs, 'Shadows Follow'... more rhyming like '72 Seasons'. Riffs yawn, pre-chorus sounded familiar, solo sounded like a reject off the Black album. 'Sleepwalk My Life Away' had a nice bass intro but once the guitars came in it sounded too much like 'Enter Sandman'. The first half of the solo just repeated. The second part sounded off tempo. The third part just repeated like the first part... boring. 'You Must Burn' had a 'Sad But True' feel to it (no pun intended). There was a better riff which had a Black Sabbath vibe which I liked. Solo another mix hat, like Kirk dropped ten solo lick options in a hat and drew a five out to play. 'Crown of Barbed Wire'... Sounded like a reject off Load. A reedit of the music and new lyrics and it might be better. 'Chasing Light' had a good solo, but James' vocals ruined the rest for me. 'Too Far Gone' More of the same. This is the second shortest song at 4:34. Felt like 6 minutes plus... 'Room of Mirrors' best song on album... Good solo. Liked the doubling of guitars after the solo. Finally, 'Inamorata'. 6 Minutes too long. This song should have been an instrumental with all the singing cut out. It would have been better. Over all take on "72 Seasons", the album is 1 hour 17 plus minutes long. Cut seventeen minutes, rework a few songs, I would buy it. This... sorry, it's just not worth it. If this had been Metallica's debut album, they would be a footnote in history, no more.
Why nobody Is talking about the guitar mixes suggests nobody plays ... awful ..overproduction.. nothing to identify them as Metallica at all .. great song otherwise
I'm 59 and Metallica stopped being Metallica after "and justice for all " album.cant be forgiven for all the shit albums last 20 years....give me lamb of god anyday.
Love Metallica, my first 2 bands ever are Metallica and Megadeth. While Suicide and Darkness had something to grip on, good songs with some not so ok stuff but also with some great stuff in them... This new song IMO it's one of the worst songs from Metallica since 1991. Generic, flat, simple, boring. etc. Megadeth copied themselves on the last album but made it in such a refreshing way, so much skill and complexity, but this, this is just pain. Sorry...
When anyone references the black album, their opinion goes down a couple notches for me! LOL sorry...black album is a good album BUT their worst album in my opinion.
@@joshbrewer4309The Black Album is worse than St. Anger?😂😂😂 At least on that album Bob Rock made Kirk work on his solos because those days are clearly behind him.
@@MegaBadseed listen to the riffs before the solo and chorus in spit out the bone quiz kid. It's the same e, f, f# progression and phrasing. The pre chorus in 72 is just a lazy mixture of that and the chorus is pretty much after their first solo in spit as well. Use your ears and stop being a fanboy. Plus the fast part is just hard wired. Sorry my man they ripped themselves off from the last album to the other that is just lazy. This is far too similar to anything on hardwired to be considered anything other than rehash. The other three songs are way better because even though they're in the same Spirit of some of their other songs they're not complete plagiarism like 72 seasons is. You might as well call the song spit out the hardwired moth. That's why Megadeth will always be better. Because when Dave steals from himself the song sounds much different. A good case is hangar 18 to dystopia, similar chords and structure but both songs have completely different identities Metallica can't come close to that.

On the other 3 songs sounded like another band copied Metallica........in this Metallica is Metallica........
Metallica is suffering from the edit since and justice. If every album had 8 or 9 songs they’d be amazing albums and each song can be a 1/4 shorter. They have greatness in them, but they’re bloating everything.
Ever since the Black album nothing good. Sad but true!
Bad take.
Good not great song.
James: great voice, nice riffs, but not very good lyrics.
Rob: cool intro, solid bass.
Kirk: good solo, fits the song.
Lars: uninspired, laid back drumming with ZERO drum fills, lazy Lars.
So far for me:
Lux Æterna: 7
Screaming Suicide: 7
If darkness had a son: 7
72 Seasons: 7.5.
Lets hope the rest of the songs are better.
Modern Metallica:
Death Magnetic>>Hardwired>72 Seasons ( so far).

My man. 🖖🖖
Who cares if they're over 60? Every other thrash band from their era is releasing better records. Even low level bands.
Different strokes
Gonna say now it's the same shit hey. Nothing new.
No way you are saying if darkness had a son solo was the best. that song is the definition of uninspired
@@fernaandocobobadia This New Metallica Album will Crush ALOT of that Crap Metal that's been out there for years now
fuck off rock dad, I can name you albums that kick ass and are recent, stuck in the past is what you are
100% right. This new song is by far the worst from the new singles. IMO the worst song since 1991. And "If Darkness Had A Son" the best with a little changes could have been on And justice... But they are just playing it safe... Look we still play metal but very simple trying not to scare or challenge anyone
It just a good song but not really great!composition wise ok but not amazing..I think Metallica are locked in that same formula(bubble) at the moment since Death Magnetic till now!...we want better compositions not just speed!..more heavy!... perhaps the should try concept albums ..I don't really know? ... But I'm not really blown away sorry!..like I said I would be more blown away if they compose something amazing like what they have done in the past!........The elements that would be mention or questioned would be Lars's drumming ? and Kirk solos?.....and their songs Chorus?...this ain't a masterpiece and everybody knows that! ..but is it good enough for my music collection?..YES!
reaction and discussion... 4 nodding heads? maybe i'm getting too old for this youtube shit
I’m guessing you didn’t stay for discussion 🤷♂️
@@metalheadsjourneytreating us like Sophie’s Choice…smh
im bored with a7x new song. but not this one

(Top left) out play Lars or shut up ~ (bottom right) don't take cheap shots at musicians who've literally change the world then tuck tail ~ PUNK
I know liking something while also being able to criticize it is difficult but maybe one day you will get there, I have faith in you!
I believe too left guy could out play Lars…..with lessons.
anotther black album old man rock tune. their thrash days are gone
Bade take, thrash isn’t even their best work & FYI there’s thrash all through this album.
Long Plodding Same Generic Sounding Metallica that we have today...I'm not gonna compare them to Metallica of Old...this is their sound that they choose , so be it
Kirk still sounds so uninspired for solos. They just sound thrown out.
Indeed. He's just going through the pentatonic and blues scales motions. It's as if he was hired as a session player for a day.
Lol no, they match the song superbly. All of them.
@@MegaBadseed no, just no. Kirk is being so lazy
@@PETRAS_ lol no, he simply cannot be lazy to play any of these songs. Never has been.
Kirk is lost without his wah pedal!!
Anything grab those hairs on the new album yet?
Metallica could release an album of farts and these guys would adore it.
That’s accurate. Not sorry
I'm so sick of Metallikarens.
Why nobody Is talking about the guitar mixes suggests nobody plays ... awful ..overproduction.. nothing to identify them as Metallica at all .. great song otherwise
You guys ACTUALLY think this is good 🤣
I'm 59 and Metallica stopped being Metallica after "and justice for all " album.cant be forgiven for all the shit albums last 20 years....give me lamb of god anyday.
Cool story, bro.
No one cares go away
yet you are still listening, yet you are still come ting yet you are still enjoying this. STFU
Lamb of God lol
Love Metallica, my first 2 bands ever are Metallica and Megadeth. While Suicide and Darkness had something to grip on, good songs with some not so ok stuff but also with some great stuff in them... This new song IMO it's one of the worst songs from Metallica since 1991. Generic, flat, simple, boring. etc. Megadeth copied themselves on the last album but made it in such a refreshing way, so much skill and complexity, but this, this is just pain. Sorry...
A rip off of the previous album, which was a rip off of previous albums.
😂 Your not a real Metallica fan beat it🙄
When anyone references the black album, their opinion goes down a couple notches for me! LOL sorry...black album is a good album BUT their worst album in my opinion.
Feel how you want about it. Reference was only that this was the best opening song on an album since then. 🖖
Have you not heard St Anger?
@@joshbrewer4309The Black Album is worse than St. Anger?😂😂😂 At least on that album Bob Rock made Kirk work on his solos because those days are clearly behind him.
@@nedrini1055 I love st anger! You see...I'm a real metal head...I like angry aggressive music, not radio friendly pop rock!
It's a mediocre song from,once great Metallica....but it's ok,for what Metallica does now...nothing to be hyped about...
its not 1987 anymore. the world has moved on, you haven't. they aren't going to make the same shit for 50 years.
@@spectac1 I am gonna use your lines everytime I see an idiotic comment like the one above. Thanks buddy hahah!
If they made the same music they would be like the rest of the thrash bands no where 😊
without them metal no bigger back then. nothing to proves..
Spit out the bone sequel. Rehashing riffs from the last album is LAZY
Absolutely nothing like Bone
More like All Nightmare Long mixed with Confusion. Also, i'd like to here you do better now, nevermind at 60+ years old
@@jhamilton1007 why is " I'd like to see you do better at 60" always the answer?
Look doing lazy bullshit is doing lazy bullshit, no matter how young or old you are. Bottom line.

Nope
This is a recycled song, honestly.
