Bringing this one up from the grave. I am having similar issues. My dual 444 setup is right at 1 year and a few days old ( won't be able to warranty). What did you fin out was the issue?
@@EvilStreetShark dual compressor setup. Running on an airlift 3p. 444 kit is exactly one year and some days old. All of a sudden started blowing the main harness fuse as soon as the compressors would kick on to fill the tank back up after raising the car. I did notice that there was back feed on the 2nd compressor inlet. So thinking it was the check valve I went ahead and ordered 2 new SMC’s from Bag Riders. on. The car sat for about 2 days as to I didn’t just want to run on 1 compressor(takes forever 😅) Threw them on one evening after work. The tank filled up just fine and both compressors ran fine. Next morning went to leave for work. Blowing the main harness 40amp fuse again., I have checked both harnesses, both relays and all quick/ butt connectors, grounds, and power and can’t seem to find anything. Everything leads me to believe the compressor that I was experiencing a leak from on the inlet has gone bad.
@@thatbaggedboostedsrt If its still blowing a fuse after you checked everything.. especially making sure the red and black wire is not getting contact. Plus you changed the check valve.. It maybe something wrong internally with the compressor.
@@EvilStreetShark 😭😭😭 this is what I feared too. Idk what else it could be. This must be why Viair only offers a 1 year warranty LOL. It decided to bight the dust right when it rolled over a week old installed. Sigh….. time to fork out some more money I suppose.
Check to see if the fuse is just blown first... Then replace the fuse.. If the compressor doesn't sound strong when it turns on then it might need to be replaced.
Yep...Teflon tape wound the wrong direction......Step up to High Preasure Teflon Paste....Used wrong size crimp terminal.....You don't cut the wire size down...You need Yellow "Spade " terminal...Yes that is what they are called....Spade terminals...both Male & Female. Loosen all the bolts....Remove the ones you decided on......Then install and tighten All of them...This will give you slack to get the ones you removed realigned.
are you using one power cord and fuse to battery for both compressors? I'm adding the same 444c to my setup. am I able to run both compressors on same power cord that goes to battery?
Airlift offers a wiring harness for the 2nd compressor so it becomes plug and play for the 2nd compressor. The 2nd wiring harness for the 2nd compressor hooks up to the main harness then you have your red and black cords that go to the battery a long with the fuse.
I hope it is a wiring issue! lol I believe it was the compressor too! The one compressor that is working kept saying compressor freeze after pumping air for a little.. The new compressor pumps air really good and is very strong! Plus no more compressor freeze with one compressor! Really weird! Will make an update video and I get to share with you guys how to rebuild a compressor!
remember to roll the tape on the threads the same direction you screw it in or if you put it on the opposite direction it will unravel while tightness.
@EvilStreetShark great video though, thank you for the step by step, it helped me because I didn't know what the hell I was doing, there is little to none on how it's wired but yours did, so thanks for the help
7:00 splitting the wire defeats the entire purpose of using a specified guage size. Wrong guage leads to overheating, melted wires, and car fires. Definitely don't do what was done in this video. Use the correct size wire connector as well as proper guage size for recommended amperage requirement.
If its saying compressor freeze.. Check the fuse first! If the fuse looks fine and not blown! Then the compressor is going bad! Its time for a new compressor. If you only had it for less than a year it still under warranty!
Andrei Fasola I’ve got dual tanks and dual compressors on a 93 caprice and they take like 15 minutes to air up. It works but 2 compressors to 1 tank is a hell of a lot quicker
Nope! I've never heard that it will cause an issue... The good thing imo is that if your compressor goes bad you can quick disconnect it.. Also I feel like these compressors don't last for 2-3 years when you daily use them.
EvilStreetShark yeah, i figured id suggest trying a bigger opening ? Homedepot has several different gauge sizes ... im in the process of installing mine and i saw this video and off i ran to get some haha Where are you located bro ?
@@DDeGrasse I live in MD.. They have several differen't gauge sizes but its either to big or the right size for the guages you find at homedepot. Or the gauge is too big and you can't crimp down on it so the wire don't fall out.. So you may have to split the wire in half and wrap it around.. Take the compressor with you to the store.. You will see.
@@AnthonyWilliams-Photography The bigger the lines are the faster it air out. So 3/8 is the biggest line.. But it might be too fast depending on the weight of the car..
@@EvilStreetShark you just schooled me bro...i thought 1/2 was the biggest lines. I always hear ppl say get 1/2 lines for fast bags....you right 3/8 mught be a bit too much

7:01 just use the correct Guage connecter instead of cutting off the wire to make it fit.
Ocd kicked in when he put the Teflon tape on backwards. Nice video though
Wrapped Teflon backwards and you don't want more then 4 wraps. It will snap the threads

Do you need to empty the air tanks before replacing the compresssors?
Yes!!!!! If you don't you will crack the tank from all the air pressure in the tank.

They don't make a quick disconnect that size gauge for how thick the wire is. I've been bagged since 2016 and had no issues.
Hey man i just installed my airlift but i noticed my compressor get really hot like it burns to touch hot, is this normal?
