God provides everything we need to live out His will for our lives. That may or may not include material wealth. There are saints who were poor and saints who were kings. This isn’t hard.

Prosperity "gospel" is very narrow in defining what prosperity means. It is not good news at all. Allen is spot on - it sets us up for disappointment. It reeks of the ancient cult religions of Baal - that we can control God.

Thank you both for touching on this topic. I truly believe that Jesus heals today even if we don’t see healing in every circumstance. I have been healed of stage 2/3 breast cancer, standing on scripture the whole journey. However, I have seen men and women of faith who experienced different fates, some losing loved ones. From the standpoint of the prosperity gospel, I would catch myself looking down on them like - they just did not have enough faith as me. In hindsight and as the Holy Spirit has exposed the fallacy, I see that I was wrong to make such a judgment. Sometimes it our faith that God moves on such as the woman with the issue of blood (“daughter your faith has made you well”) and sometimes we’re not completely restored until in heaven. I’m honestly still trying to figure it out. Thank you both, again.

I remember when I was 15-16 vary hungry to Learn and grow But but honestly didn’t know better I would listen to a lot of TV preachers so even though I wasn’t raised in the prosperity gospel I got exposed to it fell for it for a little while but thankfully The church I attend it was Bible-based I had a great mentorship program biblical teachings began to sink in and come in to conflict with the prosperity gospel so I stop listening to them stuck with my church then learned about the inspiration of scripture experienced real growth Learned about Apologetics The first Christian professor and Apologist I discovered was Dr.Walter Martin!

The Prosperity Gospel is so dangerous! It fails to address human suffering and bad things happening to "good" people! (Note we are all sinners, so I use the term "good" very loosely as a layman's term for non-believers to understand).

I see the prosperity ministry as, “you can buy your way into heaven”. They say that the more money you give to this church, the more money God will give you, because giving, even what you can’t afford, is doing “good works” which obviously makes you a good person. So basically, it would follow that your level of wealth is a direct indicator of your goodness and favor in the eyes of God. If so, I’m in trouble.

It also puts a lot of shame on those going through hardship. When I was 9, my mom was pregnant and we were all really excited. However, she ended up miscarrying. That was tough, especially for her and dad. Several of their friends had started following one of these prosperity gospel preachers. Rather than offering any sympathy or encouragement to our hurting family, they shamed my parents for their lack of faith and said that this was obviously a result of sin in their lives. Even though I was young, this really hurt. It took a long time for me to finally let go of my anger and bitterness towards these people.

Hi Alisa, I am a Blind Christian Reformed Expository Preacher and just found your YT channel and appreciate what I am hearing. You really need to go over to Rumble, just saying. Another way to look at the Prosperity 'Gospel', TBN, CBN, etc... etc..., is as a huge MLM and Jesus is their million dollar product. As the historian/doctor writes in about Jesus statement in Acts 20:29 'I know that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.', or in Luke 17:1 'It is inevitable that stumbling blocks will come...', and let's not forget their necklace in 2 'It would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea...' and so so many more scriptures, more then any other abominations in scripture false teachers are warned about. Appreciate You, keep speaking truth.

There is no such thing as a 'prosperity gospel' or a 'healing gospel' just the good news that Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law. Deuteronomy 28 outlines just exactly what that 'curse of the law' entailed. It was poverty, sickness and spiritual death. Galatians 3:3 tells us Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. So here's a question: how much of the curse of the law has Christ redeemed us from? Half of it? Most of it? All of it, praise God. Prosperity just means doing well. How many of us rejoice when our children are doing well? All of us and God is the same, even more so, as He is a perfect Heavenly Father. Just as it's unthinkable that God would want one person to be more 'saved' than another so it is also unthinkable that He would want one to prosper and not another or one to be healed and not another. Don't confuse prosperity with greed or idolatry, they are not the same thing.

    • @deepjoydeb4330
      @deepjoydeb4330 2 роки тому

The 'us' in Gal.3:13 are the Jews. Paul was one of them. That's not abt the gentiles. And read the Gal.3:13 in context. Read the previous verses. The curse (not curses) of the law is that no one can be JUSTIFIED by the works of the law. Just bcoz the prosperity preachers don't use the term, 'prosperity gospel,' it doesn't mean there is no such thing. This doctrine is sickening. People need to be healed from this sickening doctrine.

My friend has expressed disappointment with God for a number of years now. I have found it difficult to get on the same page with him, though I suspect that's partly because he's not neurotypical, but also part of it is that he grew up in the Assembly of God church body (that I also went to some decades ago) which has a history of Prosperity Gospel influence. He and I speak a fundamentally different spiritual language now. Occasionally we can connect on a spiritual issue, but now he has such a shell of anger around him because he thought God promised him health and wealth and happiness and family and he's had so many losses in all those areas.

Thank you Alisa and Allen for your commitment to show truth. I’m searching for it determinedly myself these days rather than just trusting what the minister tells me. About Isaiah 53 and the stripes - it’s pointed to in Matthew 8:17 when Jesus is healing the sick as a fulfilment of that prophecy and quotes Isaiah53:4. Surely there is some connection between physical healing and that prophecy. I’m struggling to find a true balance here between this connection and the overgeneralisation that every sickness is healed in this lifetime. Do you think God intends the complete fulfillment after the resurrection?

  • @gracepeace487

So I should not believe for healing? I get the prosperity thing a little. But isn’t healing the children’s bread? Who do I go to for healing then? So his stripes were not for my healing? His will isn’t for me to be well? I’m completely dumbfounded by this.

Me too. I don't agree with this video, even though I respect Alisa different videos and articles.
We were healed by his stripes. He is the healer. In psalms it says He heals all our diseases...
And in Matthew 8:14-17 it refers to Isaiah and explains what the prophecy meant. Not only spiritual healing but physical as well.
I was healed from hormonal problems, frequent migraines, pain... by believing on Jesus that He has already healed me. He gave me back hope for my life. I now can witness to other people from genuine grateful heart.

@@gracepeace487 Healing is good, but we have to understand that sometimes it’s God’s will for us not to be healed, and that’s okay! God will not heal every time. By His stripes we’re healed of our sinful nature. That verse isn’t referring to physical well-being, but rather spiritual! Remember that whether we are healed or not, God is sovereign, and God is good. Job suffered so much, and yet God had a bigger plan. Paul suffered so much. The early church was filled with martyrs that suffered physically for the faith. And yet God was close to them, the Holy Spirit working through them to establish the church even though they were beaten, suffering, imprisoned, etc. God does not always heal, and that’s okay!

To start with, I agree with everything you have said. But when I was immersed in that culture, playing devil's advocate, we were pointed to Matthew 8:17, "This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: 'He took our illnesses and bore our diseases,'" as a proof text that Isaiah 53 also included physical healing. I believe that God can and does heal, but agree that Isaiah spoke primarily about spiritual healing. At any rate, I now recognize that physical healing is not a promise.

Context is everything. Allen states in Isaiah that healing is seen throughout speaking of healing of sin. Hmmmm. The word healed as seen in Isaiah 53:5 is only used ONE other time. It is a passage Jesus quoted about receiving the redemptive work of the Messiah. They would be converted and be healed. That word healed means to be made whole. That would include physical healing. We can’t cherry pick Scripture just because it is contrary to our theology. The word heal is used three times. It speaks of healing the wounds of a nation and healing and making whole His people even when they didn’t deserve it.
    Cessationism isn’t the gospel either.

Luxury and extravagance? No. But we must distinguish between that and an appropriate, measured level of abundance, which is scriptural. With two exceptions, a measured, sane level of abundance is biblical. The two exceptions are: 1. poverty as a result of persecution and 2. voluntary poverty in order to reach a certain people group while living with them. The purpose of a measured degree of abundance is: 1. To finance the Gospel 2. To give to those in need. 3. To enjoy life ("who richly provides us with all things to enjoy" - 1 Tim. 6:17).

When I were a newer type believer I used to get so angry at those people; because I thought that they were this or that, as I still do think that those scoundrels are this or that. And the people that are in among that type of doctrine of demon source reveal of their love offering, they who are giving money to it- are as spiritually almost as much as dead as the people offering Satan up as their love for a dollar Jesus. But conceding that the whole thing is evil. And ignorant people do think they r giving their money to some never oh - sinful bodied natured creature as a Prosperity Preacher. And he or she is going to help their prayer life and finances by giving your money to the thieves? Well those idiots can just have at themselves. Because myself personally has tried with those people for years now, and they only want to believe themselves which they think their infernal non sense that they come up with gives to their lives with their Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland or Paula White or T.D. Jakes- just keep going on down the line, Benny Hinn, Paul Crouch (when alive) and his off spring and ex-wife, if that is what your so Christianity is to you? Than have at it. Because those and their types have never known the Lord God at all. You will be going to the exact infernal hell breathing air that they are going to, if you follow and give money to their foot steps. Anyway, now I just pretty much laugh at those people. Because if you can inlay the body of scripture in only a way that favors you and your way of life and it always leaning towards your wants and sensual indulgences? Well then you are not learning from my God or Bible. Cause I have an excellent relationship with God, and I don't get to have anything I want; I just get what I need out of life here on.
People who sell stuff on TV and don't have Christ, they are just selling their own soul away. Where the Prosperity preachers they had already sold their own souls, they are just out to get yours soul and a brand new Porsche in a bargain.

I’m a little perplexed how he can speak so assertively against false “gospels” but yet is so hesitant to call “pastors” out who teach this way. Prosperity Gospel and Word of Faith are good terms for advancing the kingdom of God not for selfish motives. To be healed-to testify, to have abundance-to give, proclaim the word-to remain in Him and be a disciple. Ask for what you need according to His will which is glorious, hallelujah!
    James 4:3
"And when you do ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may squander it on your pleasures."

So sad to hear this commentary ... what was Jesus remark to the "who? ".... oh the disciples.... when they couldn't successfully pray for healing of the man's son in Matt 17v17. Wow that must have been harsh. Must have left a permanent emotional scar. It will be interesting to hear the remark of the LORD to these comments made in this video. It's very clear that the five fold ministry mentioned in Ephesians 4v11 is not doing their job i.e. equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. Don't see many saints doing what we're called to do in Mark 16v18 "they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover" apparently it's very dangerous.

With all due respect, this guy doesn't even know what he's talking about. The Gospel itself includes prosperity.
There's no secondary gospel called the "prosperity gospel"... Prosperity is %100 inevitable if you walk faithfully with the Lord.
When people don't receive, it's usually because of their own unbelief, and/or sin in their life, or other factors.
...There are many scriptures, which explicitly assert prosperity as an inevitability, and/or birthright of the Believer.
Is he gonna say those passages are all "taken out of context"?
    Examples:
    3 John 2:2
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
    Psalm 35:27
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
    Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The prosperity gospel/doctrine is a natural progression of the idea that Jesus' sacrifice is the way to salvation, that which restores our connection with God, which brings us back to our innocence at the time of our creation being made in His likeness. Then we deserve what we get but have to do mental work to get it.
It' s not sacrifice but forgiveness that does that. Forgiveness also realigns us with gratitude for all life so we never feel lacking but grateful for everything we have as perfect at any moment in our lives. The mental work we do, " I work and my Father works," is changing our minds through metanoia.
Matthew 12.7 (NIV) ..." If you had known what these words mean, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice,” you would not have condemned the innocent."
