    Colleen, Wow what a video!! I was just getting ready to go to bed when the fire alarm went off right next to my front door of my condo building. I am on the list for the fire department to call me if it is mandatory for me to vacate because of a severe leg injury the summer of 2016 and the fire dept calls me on my phone and sends a fireman up to me to help me down the stairs. Right after I finished the last video prior to the alarm about napkin/card crafting your video popped up so I increased my sound to help drown out the alarm and kept watching. The alarm went on for close to an hour and before it ended I had to go into my bedroom for some peace and quiet. Finally the alarm went off so I came into the living room to start your video again and thank God I did. As soon as you said you were from VA Beach I got so excited I couldn't go to sleep. Boy, I wish we were neighbors, we would have fun together. You look fun just from your photo. I haven't been to VA Beach in years but, I am 8 minutes from Old Town Alexandria but, I still live in the city. While I was bedridden for close to 4 months due to a severe broken leg I sent my sister and boyfriend over to my apartment to gather up my fishing box which was the house for all my beads and braided wire. I also had them bring my basket of all my stamps and ink pads and my box of all my card stock and my clear glue with the precision tip, my Martha Stewart very fine glitter. I sent my own made thank you cards and I made my rehab therapists for Christmas jewelry. My mother (78 at the time) took care of me for 6 months. She doesn't have a cell phone, she doesn't have internet so I went crazy without my computer but, for the first time in my life I gained weight where I looked healthier than before. I always ate great but, due to my type of job I could never gain weight but, mom made meat and potatoes every night with dessert and great lunches and pancakes and French toast every morning. My best friend name Ada who actually has her own card business sent me a note made out of a napkin and boy - I couldn't wait to get home to my Glad wrap and my iron and it's funny - I have always loved napkins since I was a child. Whenever I went to a church wedding or a party I would always take an extra one - come home and iron it and I used them as doilies on my dining room table or coffee table. In fact right now I have a tulip one caddy corner in the middle of my dining room table with a vase of silk tulips on top. Anyway - my plastic wrap, or wax paper has never worked for me but, my decoupaging the napkin has worked and comes out with a cool sheen on top but, its hard to keep them from taring then. I really want to perfect the glad wrap way. I went to Sanibel in November and found awesome shells with my sister and mother. We also have a family beach house in NJ (Long Beach Island) and my brother Steve lives in Point Pleasant, NJ and last Tuesday he was released from the hosp after 146 days to go home for the first time since the day he left his house Nov 29, 2018. At Michaels right before Christmas I came upon a pad of 30 pieces of cardstock called Mermazing. Many of your stamp nautical sayings are in the pad along with prints of mermaids, anchors, ship's wheels, awesome shells - some pages are foiled. In the back are plain colors of card stock but, all accent the printed pages of designs. Weekly I have been making cards for my brother and sending them and I have a Stampin' Up stamp of a fish that I use on the back as my logo with my initials underneath and the date I made the card. My brother is a former commercial fisherman and now he works at the docks where the fishing boats come into. Anyway, my card friend called me the other day and invited me to go to a function on June 8th, 2019 you may be interested in attending. A woman by the name of Angela who owned The Happy Stamper recently closed her store. She is a member of Church Of The Brethren in Nokesville, VA and they are in need of some rebuilding. They are looking for Stampin' Up crafters and other card crafters to participate in basically an inside flee market of craft supplies to either sell or trade. No one can sell their crafts only their supplies and the table fee is $35 which will go to the church to renovate it. My friend and I are going to have a table and it is from 9am to 3pm in Nokesville. I do not have the number but, if you go on the church web site or the Happy Stamper sight it is listed. Angela will be selling the rest of her inventory. Maybe I will see you there. When you made this video you were getting ready to go on your trip to Italy one place my mom would love to go. I hope you had a wonderful trip. I want to watch more of your videos tomorrow but, it is close to 3am and 6 30 will come quick and I am due at work by 7:30. On Saturday I had a craft sale - only my 3rd one as an adult - and I made my own business cards with my scalloped edge 3 1/2 inch round punch and pink, blue, yellow paper xerox'd cardstock. I did the sale with my friend Ada who has her own card company. I am sorry this is so long - it was for you this note - not so much your viewers. God bless and thank you for an awesome detailed video. Sincerely, Rebekah in Alexandria, VA

    Hi Coleen. I just found you on you tube and I'm so glad. I am going to have to look for some napkins. Great job on the video. I just saw today that if you use reverse twissors to hold the knot when you tie a bow, it's easier. I haven't tried it yet but it's worth a try.

    Where did you find the cling wrap. I’ve been EVERYWHERE trying to find it. Can find Glad Wrap. Bought it. Does NOT melt. Pls advise.

    • @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835
      @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835  Рік тому +1

      I think you bought the right thing but not sure why it didn't melt. It's the yellow box, Glad Cling Wrap. Make sure you are using a thin sheet of copy paper and the iron is on the highest setting. I'm sure I got it at Walmart. Good luck.

      @@creatingwithcolleenmagness5835 that’s where I blew it. Was using TWO pieces of card stock. Watched another napkin video the other day - diff technique - she said only copy paper on top or it won’t melt. Ta dummmm.

    WOW Colleen! Love this technique. Tuesday Morning has nice napkins. What are the measurements after you heated the napkin onto the paper & cut? What was that measurement?

    • @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835
      @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835  6 років тому

      Funny you said that Ruby as that's where I got the Italy style napkins! Basically I cut everything down 1/4" from the layer before. So the card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" (folded in half), then the solid front cardstock is 5 1/4" x 4", then the napkin piece is cut to 5" x 3 3/4". I like adhering the napkin to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of white cardstock for starters so I can get nice, clean cuts to mount it on my card. So glad you liked it!

    Fun idea! Do you think that there is a way to add some sparkle/glitter to this card? Thank you.

    • @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835
      @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835  6 років тому

      Hi Deborah, I don't think the sparkle/glitter would stick to the top of the napkin since the Suran wrap is between the card and the napkin. You would have to add an additional adhesive to the top like a spray glue or use a 2 Way Glue pen and apply the glitter that way. Great idea though! Now you have me thinking! :)

  • @ilovecharleston2

    Your card is pretty. Thanks for sharing ...... Just to let you know - the napkin actually had 3 layers. Many cards have come apart because of not using the single layer.

    • @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835
      @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835  6 років тому

      I think different napkins may have 2 or 3 layers. For 3 layers you must have bought the expensive ones! LOL Yes, you have to remove all layers and only use the printed top piece. Mine came apart when I didn't do that too.

    Can I replace the iron with glue ??

    • @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835
      @creatingwithcolleenmagness5835  3 роки тому

      You can certainly try. I would recommend Mod Podge or maybe a spray glue. I would think the challenge would be not getting wrinkles in the napkin or the napkin getting wet and rip. For that reason the white liquid glue may be best to try first. Good luck!
