- Gracie is our golden retriever we rescued when she was one year old from the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles Rescue www.grcglarescu... She is the third dog we have rescued from them and deeply love them all. Two years after we adopted her, we found she had a unique hidden talent... She smiles all the time!! Enjoy this video, visit the GRCGLA rescue site, and above all share this video with others! If you enjoy it, please "like" it above!!
When I first met my soulmate, his golden came up to me on a trail, smiling. I thought, anyone who has a dog that can smile must be something special. I was right. She smiled at everyone. Only once did someone misinterpret her smile, though I don't know how with her whole back end wagging. He maced her.
She smiled for ten more years before quietly passing away. She was the queen of the neighborhood. I miss her greatly.
My retriever used to always smile. Never felt threatened and used to smile when he was happy. Once he got cancer, I never saw that smile again. Love and treat your dog like family. Once their gone, you realize how much positivity they brought to your life.
Couldnt of explained it better
My family had a Golden in the past that smiled so hard that he would make himself sneeze from scrunching his nose up. Goldens are the best dogs ever!
Thank you so much for giving Gracie a loving home. She rewards you daily with love , loyalty and a beautiful smile
We had a golden, the BEST dog we ever had. She was dumped on the streets in winter and followed my daughter home from school. The vet said by the emaciation and poor shape the pads on her feet were in, she had been running the streets for several months. She SMILED everyday when each of us came home from school/work. She loved playing ball and gave us such love and affection. SHE definitely had the GR happy grin
GRCGLA is absolutely the best! Rusty was my 1st golden from them. We had him for 4 years and loved him so much. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. In '11 I adopted Cody from them, he is so wonderful. Absolutely adore him. l wouldn't have any other breed! I highly recommend both Goldens and GRCGLA!
I love my Golden, she makes me smile everyday and they are the best dogs in the world. If you never owned one you are truly missing out on a really loving and affectionate dog.
Thanks Gracie for making me smile and also making my morning fun! Bless you all!!!
Love it. My Golden does this too, especially in the morning when he comes over to my bed to say hi.
She is PRECIOUS! I have a "rescue" GSD (she was beaten for the first yr of her life, horrid!) THANK YOU for spreading the word to ADOPT! You couldn't have gotten a better furry ambassador! Can't believe anyone gave her a thumbs down!
We rescued our lab/golden retriever mix when she was 9 weeks old, she's now almost 10 years old. She just recently started smiling and it is the cutest thing I have ever seen. She will smile, wag her tail really fast and then roll over and expect a belly rub. She's spoiled but we can't help but love her
NO WONDER SHE IS SMILING........ YOU SAVED HER!! PEOPLE WHO RESCUE ANIMALS ARE JUST AMAZING !!! X
Awwww! God bless Gracie and her wonderful owners. Luv ur smile baby girl!!! 😀😀😀
My name is Gracie. I have just met you, and I LOVE YOU!!!
she is so adorable!!! Thanks for sharing a smile... they are contagious!
I've rescued a 2 Goldens myself. Neither one smiled like yours but both were (and are) awesome.
Awww Gracie's smile is everything ❤
Too gorgeous! This is what our beloved Dalmatian used to do too! Thank you for sharing your lovely
AWWW! HE HAS EVERY REASON TO SMILE...... YOU SAVED HIS LIFE! JUST ADORABLE! X
Gracie's "smile" is adorable. Definitely a submissive smile in my opinion that she has learned makes her people happy, causing her to do it more often. I taught my boy to sneeze on command and, because of the praise he receives when he's told to, he sneezes much more often now (and yes, he is healthy and sneezing only for our positive reaction).
I don't have a submissive smiler, but he is one of those dogs who always has his teeth out when he's playing and we shaped "smile" into a command by catching him with his teeth bared during play. Now he'll do it on command. It's more a flash of teeth and often with an open mouth, a snort, and a tail wagging like mad in anticipation of his reward, but I'd ultimately like him to be able to hold his smile in place.
I have left other comments on this page, and every time I see it, I laugh and turn the computer to my golden smiler. It is funny because I grew up with goldens. My folks bred them and trained them. But honestly, it is rare to have a golden with that smile. It is unique because this is MY FIRST golden that is all mine, AND HE HAS THE BIGGEST GOLDEN SMILE! I actually named him goldie in tribute to the golden we had when I was 5. She died of cancer when I was 9. I paid tribute to her.
She is adorable! Love them pups!
I used to have a chocolate lab, and he didn't smile but grinned. Most of the time he did it when he was doing something he wasn't supposed to do, but knew he could get away with it. Best dog ever.
My Sheltie smiles, and though I think the first time you see can be a bit startling, but gosh, Dog smiles are simply the best.
My guy smiles every time I come home
Its a great way to get greeted
Love it. My little girl, Holly does this uncontrollably when she is so excited to see me when i come home.
This is adorable! My golden does the same thing and she is always smiling. They are the happiest dogs in the world :)
Love you, Gracie..🐶🐶🐕
Cutie... goldens are the best 🌈
I love you Gracie. I had a wide, happy dog like you too. Her name was Taffy.
Thank you to Gracie for sharing her adorable smiles :) Thank you for giving Gracie a loving home
My golden smiles too and strangers always think she is showing her teeth but she just wants some loving!!
I say "bam bam goldie bam bam" And he lifts that mouth and smiles.. Best breed ever!!
My Golden Leroy does this. He also loves to lay on his side in the grass and scoot around and around. My favorite all time dog.
omg these faces keep me alive. i get so sad.... that alone is giving me an idea to live another day
So genuine she is a beauty
Her eyes , her hair, I love it
My golden smiles as well even on command its not only a submissive smile she will often do this smile when she gets very excited
My Dachshund does this when he's really excited to see me. :)
It's very adorable !!! I wish I could have a puppy like that !!!
I'm glad that you had he,r and you gave love to her.
My golden retriever, Jessie, turns 10 in december. She also smiles, but just in the corner of her mouth. They are both so cute!
Dude. Don't let your dog get into your weed stash like that.
I'm in love with Gracie! I also love your music! What is it? Your entire video is just darling including the narrative. Thank you for blessing me.
I so wish my golden would smile like this! He is still young so maybe, rt now he just makes the most crazy vocal sounds I have ever heard come out of a dog
There's nothing like a Golden Retriever . . . once you've befriended one, you will always want one around!
Adorable..this pup is a keeper
I had a dog named Sebastian (he was later adopted by a friend) who 'smiled' and showed his teeth whenever I said ,"Sebastian, teeth!". :) Miss you Sebastian.
so cute, my golden does this in the mornings! it's a golden thang!
She's so adorable
Made my day! I have one who could be a sister that smiles just this! Just a handful of Golden's have mastered this, and it is as amazing as it is so silly!
My Golden/Husky mix used to do that whenever I came home. I called them "snarlies". I miss that boy.
Goldens are the best!
They sure are!!
I didn't know this was a smile!! My beagle does this, & I always called it her "squinty face". Now I know she's really smiling!!!
My Golden does that too!!! I love Gracie!!! :) So adorable!!!
Ths is one of my fav videos.. Makes me laugh reguardless of how many times i watch it. Thank you for shareing it with us....

I had a dog when I gave him the middle finger he would smile.I have no idea how that started and it was before internet time unfortunately. Gizmo, I will never forget you.
My collie did the smile every time you asked her, great dog still missed
My cousin's Golden, Sweetie, used to smile like that!!
omg who would put a Golden up for adoption?! So cute!
That's the most cutest thing I ever saw
I think, like parrots, she is just mimicking us humans because it makes US happy :)
May I give a kiss to her? God!! she is so cute :-)
When I lost my golden retiver.passed away a part of my heart went with her.Her name was Dutchess. I called her Dutch Girl
I think Murphy was about 3 or 4 when he started doing that. He gave this crinkled "snarly face" with his tail wagging. You could actually coax him to do it from then on. He does this thing called "crazy dog" where he lays on his back and his paws and hind legs start kicking the air and flashes the snarly face. So totally full of himself. They're amazing dogs.
Bellissimi ...tutti...
The Golden Retriever dogs are the best, I really like the mine
hecka cuTe video.... she/he reminds me of my Gloria I use to have...but she passed on. I love the smile saying adopt more of us.... beautiful 😎
my dog used to do the same thing when i was a kid when ever we got home, every time it would make her sneeze, some people used to think she was snarling, lol
Hey, is that my house? Two goldens and a chihuahua??? The smile is a winner.
I have a golden retriever too!! His name is Harley!! And guess what my name is..... It is Gracie!! I love this dog and my dog!! Keep on smiling Gracie!!
That's awesome! Such a sweet, funny dog.
Nooo you laughed! Come on! Maybe I am biased to the golden smile, but when you see another golden doing what your golden does in slo-mo..COME ON! Hysterical!
Just like the way Denver the Guilty Dog smiles.
AHHHHHH I have not laughed that loud in a while! My golden does the EXACT SAME THING! And I have been raised with goldens (both girls growing up) But my golden boy does the exact same shit! I always say he does it cause my fiancé has always laughed hysterically and egged him on when he did it lol. So I always say "Look what you turned our preciouse into!" lol ... Oh the preciouse golden smile! Can't be beat!
omg that's adorable. thats the yellow lab in her smiling through lol hence the brown nose
My mini schnoodle, Schatzi (whom I rescued from Chula Vista Animal Care Facility almost 3 years ago) has this half-grin that cracks me up. I've heard that schnauzers tend to offer half-smiles rather than full ones. Interestingly, dogs offer this behavior only to people, not to other dogs. The species has a unique social bond with ours!
my dog is some husky, laika, GSD mix and just about 3 days ago I recognized the same thing, when i came home she looked extremely happy and showed me up something that looks like a smile. since then she does it every day, when some of our family members come home
Your Goldens rock anetprophet.
What a happy girl
My friends old dog smiled too and she was an Flatcoated Retriever :)
Great video, and your dog is awesome! She had me smiling the whole time!
awww
omg she's so cute
love that smile
lol! omg so cute! even better shes rescued!
My Golden dog Murphy does this same thing. We called it the "snarly face". It was the strangest thing when he started doing it. I would walk into the house, and he'd come running to greet me, tail wagging, and the "snarly face" would appear. Later I could coax him to do it. "Give me a snarly face Murph...and the tail would wag and the lips would curl back and there it is. I figured out that it's the way he smiles. He does it when he's really happy or full of himself.
Oh man, one last comment for the nite, I was watching one last time, and I thought my goldie was watching, and I looked at him, laughed, then realized he was asleep with his tongue out, and he started wagging his tail when he heard the music.. HAHAHHA TOO CUTE!!
Both of my goldens smile and sometimes talk!
This made me smile!
:))))) golden retrievers are just so beautiful , smart and yet so funny!
So darling had one smartest dogs on the planet
if you tickle a dog's lower jaw they do the cutest smile ever!
How sweet! Made my day. 😄
Lolol she will be great for a family portrait on a Christmas card or something
Reminds me of my old dog... 💕💕💕😄
such a lovely fella!
Our golden does the smile also, so I showed my fiance this and I was like "look, our dog is not crazy!!
I love your reply. Too awesome lol
*****
Yea he is definately Hilarious! I have to post him doing it, but he shy's from the camera. One day :)
Roxanne Santori I feel your pain. I even think of taking pics of my cats any time they aren't sleeping they run and hide. I get it though. I work production in a gourmet chocolate shop. The customers are given free tours and I cringe with an intense need to run when the cameras come out. Glasses, hairnet, etc. I don't know that I'll ever get use to it anymore than my cats.
*****
Yea, I hear ya. Even when my friends try to take a picture of me I run! Maybe that is where my animals get it from lol. My cats on the other hand think they are movie stars posing for the media or something! They love it.

And what is so funny is even now me and goldy are watching this and I am talking to him like a human saying "oh yes, you will give the smile, yes yes you willl my babyy:) and he is like "ok if you think sooo" hahaha! Dogs and Cats! What would we do without them. They are so much smarter then MOST think! I like to find other animal lovers who know that :)
That is so nice! We sure love this funny mutt!
There is no nicer kind of dog than goldens! they can endure pretty much anything, annoying children poking them, other dogs picking a fight with them, they just wait it out, they are just humbleness defined
My dog is a doberman and she smiles too!
