This comic is a brilliant metaphor for addiction.
Spider-Man is always screwed over in anything the marvel zombies timeline touches. In one timeline the zombies goes to, sandman mistakes normal Spider-Man for zombie Spider-Man (who attempted previously to eat him) and literally forces himself into Spider-Man’s body till he blows out of Spider-Man’s guts.

@@beansya8967 Enchantress and Mystique do that a few times since they can disguise themselves to hide their obvious zombified forms.
Hell that's how the Fantastic 4 from fhe Zombie universe managed to get into the Ultimate universe. They sent a distress call to the Ultimate F4 pretending to be some of the few remaining survivors from their infected world and immediately attacked them once they got teleported to their world.
@@caldw615 It wasn't a distress call, actually. It was a trap, the zombie FF never informed the ultimate counterpart Reed about the zombie plague at all. They just pretended they were a normal parallel universe to get him to come in the first place.
The fact that Spider-Man is the most tragic character in the this world. Is heartbreaking
You could ALMOST say Spider-Man it the most tragic hero PERIOD. He gets his uncle killed, his best friend becomes hobgobiln, he inadvertently gets Gwen killed, another best friend becomes the green goblin, his professor wants to kill him, his co-worker becomes bonded to an alien he rejects and wants to kill him, his boss wants to slander him and get him exiled from being a hero, his other professor goes crazy and takes over his brain for a while, he let his clone take over for him and get killed by carnage only to come back as yet another enemy to deal with, he reset history only to get aunt may shot and they all have to hide out in avengers tower, he revealed his identity, only to make a deal with mephisto to make it a secret again, at the price of losing MJ... Peter has a tough go of it for sure, but its also what makes him strong when he needs to be, I suppose.

Marvel zombies is really cool but the concept is truly terrifying
Tell me about it. I think what I find most disturbing about this, is having characters we grew up on, giving us lessons in heroism and doing the right thing, becoming completely apathetic monsters who look at killing and eating people as just a normal thing.
Even when you have spiderman facing the horror of what he did, the others just disregard him and treat what they've turned into as a non-issue.

He wasn't even fed the entire time so he wasn't able to do anything to stop celebro and ended up giving away new wakanda. They tore out his throat muscles so he couldn't order celebro and wouldn't kill. They left him in that spot over looking his dead students all while he wanted to die. He also saw magneto die from his powers I think and was devastated even more.
It kinda sad because the ruler king has a child and zombies probably are the em and kill them on this 21:22 I wonder what happened to them
I like the subtle detail that Thor became unworthy to wield Mjolnir when he turned into a zombie because his hammer either sensed the evil the virus had brought upon Thor or that zombie Thor had become an imposter to his former self therefore Mjolnir returned to Asgard to await Thor’s return, kinda sad if you think about it because Zombie Thor gets killed by Zombie Giant Man early on and there’s no cure for this virus

This story always gave me a sense of dread and hopelessness, especially since in the chronological first issue all the heroes are either getting bitten or forced to hide and the world starts collapsing pretty much immediately after Sentry arrives.
Indeed. Also Realizing that this universe ends in an infinite time loop of pain, misery, and destruction doesn’t help either.

Give Thanos of each universe(before zombification)access to all of the infinity stones and just let ‘em go buck wild until there’s nothing left. A dead universe is better than an undead multiverse.
Fun Fact: After the Secret Wars these realities are restored. There are no zombies in those universes anymore. But the problem is virus began to appear in other worlds.

One of my favorite bits is when the zombie Fantastic Four are in a high security room and they trick the military to think Zombie Mr Fantastic turned a pen into a teleporting device and when he clicks it they all disappear. A group of confused soldiers enter the cell and look around and then suddenly reappears the Zombie Fantastic Four.
They never teleported. The Invisible Woman just turned them invisible. And that to me was just diabolical.
My sister found this in her teacher's classroom and I decided to read it and I had nightmares ever since.
Yeah i had the marvel zombies vs Army of darkness and donated it to my high school library cus my library teacher was cool like that. It messed up my view of the marvel comics for a while but got over it eventually.

Okay this story is almost hilarious with how casually the zombies treat the situation and act. Zombie iron man asking how Peter’s wife and aunt are really summarizes this story for me. Something so incredibly dark, but also kinda funny.
He did it intentionally to provoke a reaction because he was suspicious they had ate without him so he went for a low blow to mess with Spidey's mental state. It's pretty fucked up but it can be funny yeah. Horror and comedy I feel walk a very fine line since they are all about setup and timing.
My guess is that they were all just as horrified at first about what happened to them, but soon accepted it, hence, while even when they're no longer hungry they still discuss future plans to continue eating with Spider-Man being the only one still horrified by the situation.
I just realized that their hunger is the equivalent of being down bad, and when they eat, they gain post-nut clarity

I like how in every adaptation where Spider-Man has to be in a position to hurt people he absolutely hates it. In this and in Marvel Ruins, Spider-Man just looks like he is in absolute pain to be hurting people and he can’t do anything to stop it.

I’ve actually read marvel Zombies before, and I can say…. That it’s terrifying, not scary, terrifyingly depressing. Like my god, the depression in the comic makes you feel VERY uncomfortable. So uncomfortable that it feels scary. It’s definitely an experience.
My favorite mini series ever made and this is definitely the best review, no one else has put as much effort and passion on these books, thanks

It’d be interesting to see a reboot of the Marvel Zombies that focuses more on some heroes being able to not get infected due to being impervious such as Luke Cage, or having advanced healing powers such as Wolverine, Spider-Man and Hulk, still a far smaller humber of heroes going up against their fallen foes. Both trying to stay alive from their attacks, while also searching for a cure. Them struggling to not straight up kill their friends on the slimmest chance they can be saved.

I love how Dr. Doom’s face is shadowed by his hood. I’m sure Victor has to take off the mask so we can eat the humans, but, seeing as in every other universe, he wears a mask to hide his face from the world. I like how artistically they still shield his scars from us.
