It's a shame they removed the flare gun, it would have fit exceptionally well into HL2. Setting zombies on fire would have been all the fun, as well as useful for making light in those dark areas after your flash-light runs out.
There was a scrapped concept involving an arcade where citizens would control Man-Hacks, without realizing they were killing actual people. My theory is that the Man-hack weapon was going to be given to a Man-hack that could be controlled by Gordon to remotely clear out enemies, or do recon from a Resistance occupied Arcade when you retake City-17.
Wow, that's a good idea for a chapter of HL2 seriously.. imagine it, going like Snake, kinda stealthy, using man hacks to clear rooms of enemies, letting some NPC's come through and retake City 17... that's really good. Imagine you have to clear them with the man-hack... then Alyx has to do some sort of hacks without getting noticed. At the end you do get noticed, but it's still a good gun inside the Citadel because of the high heights and layouts of the room.. but you can also use other guns, of course, but it's just a crazy idea
Beta HL2 is dark as hell, there was going to be child soldiers, slavery, torture, combine with flame throwers, to burn all the people they killed and the air in city 17 was going to be poisonous, hence the combines gas masks. So yeah, probably too hardcore, lol.
ikagura I'd imagine being able to remotely control an NPC isn't that easy in the source engine. And since Manhacks can fly, I'd imagine they'd have to put extra time into texturing the part of the level you shouldn't be in the first place.
It's such a shame that most of these weapons were cut because Half-Life 1 had one of the most interesting weapon selections but Half-Life 2 had one of the most generic (Excluding the Gravity Gun, of course). Some of these weapons are pointless like the Ice Axe, Physics Guns and all the Automatic Weapons but weapons like The Hopwire, S.L.A.M, Tau Cannon, Combine Guard Gun, Molotov Cocktail and the Stickybomb Launcher would have been great

Like just Headcrabs(sure there is like 3 different ones a but fact still remains), Barnacles or Antlions. Just those 3. Sure there is Vortigrunts(but they are allies now) and that cameo with Ichysaur. I wished they included the other aliens like the Bullsquid. In fact, add more Synth enemies too. Like more actual enemies we can take down like standard enemies.
Hl1 really doesn't have that many more weapons. Yes it has more explosives, but they were barely used, and I am sure that the gravity gun makes up for the Tau cannon and gluon gun. The nolotov cocktail is just a grenade replacement without much use, the hopwire grenade seems extremely situational, and both the slam and the sticky bomb launcher would just be straight upgrades to the grenade. The Tau and guard gun wouldn't have added much more to the combat variety, as there already are powerful one-shot weapons for short and long range. So really, more weapons for the sake of it would just bloat the game. Hl2 *does* have a variety of weapons for every situation encountered
Luckily, the campaign in HL 2 is still great for continue the first game story but when I compare the multiplayer mode, HL 1 still much lit than HL 2 because HL 2 has lack some of the feature where they didn't brought it from HL 1 in term of weaponary and great item such as Long Jump Module
Holy shit, the design of the AR2 makes so much more sense now. Always was so damn weird to me, especially since the ammo you pick up to reload it is the magazine on the side.

I. . . I don't see any issues? I mean, yes the anims aren't finished but most of the textures look bloody amazing! Take for instance the VASTLY incomplete AR1/AK47. It's fully textured and bitmapped.
Those weapons are modded (fixed). Back in the daysi had the leaked distro, and most of them worked even worse (for example, AR1 had no animations and left hand sticking forward, fire extinguisher didn't make white spots on the ground and had no gas pouring out of it while "shooting", Molotov Cocktail had no model (the empty hand held an imaginary bottle) and it's flames on the ground were so tiny thatyou could only notice them ifyou stand on it, crouch and use binoculars or some scoped weapon, and so on, the Hopwire never exploded, but often crashed the game instead, etc. And also, at least Binoculars and Sniper Rifle had a giant circle-shaped crosshair.

The E3 2002 Beta had an extra weapon or two and had more complete animations for weapons like the Machine Gun and AK-47. The AR2/OICW even had a grenade launcher (which the real weapon had) while the MP7 didn't have one. That moment where a beta made more sense weapon-wise than the final product.

You're right, it's HL logic. Though if there's still a bullet in the chamber you don't have to pull the slide, but looking at the model for that thing it seems they had bigger problems than the animation.
That sniper rifle looks cool, too bad it didn't make it into the final game. But hey, we have the crossbow, which is slower and less accurate than a sniper rifle.
Umut, To actually have a working version of the Alpha/Beta/Leak, you'd have to first get original leak(imo), patch it up with the multiple patches that are out there and pretty much build it from the ground floor and up. It's how I pretty much have a semi-functional version of the Leak. Just a lot of patching, small fixes to some of the coding and a lot of "renovation". It's a helluva' lot of work and takes a decent chunk of time, but if you're willing to see some really old and unique cut content, then it's worth it. *(Note: And no, you don't need the retail Half-Life 2 to accomplish this. If you need any help, just PM and I'll be glad to help you put together a functional Beta.)*
Fun fact: there was a concept of "Manhack Arcade" in the beta storyline, where it would be a gaming parlor where people unknowingly would steer manhacks thinking they are palying a game, the concept was cut and "manhack" weapon is probably a leftover from that stage of development

To actually have a working version of the Alpha/Beta/Leak, you'd have to first get original leak(imo), patch it up with the multiple patches that are out there and pretty much build it from the ground floor and up.
It's how I pretty much have a semi-functional version of the Leak. Just a lot of patching, small fixes to some of the coding and a lot of "renovation".
It's a helluva' lot of work and takes a decent chunk of time, but if you're willing to see some really old and unique cut content, then it's worth it.

Fun fact: there was a concept of "Manhack Arcade" in the beta storyline, where it would be a gaming parlor where people unknowingly would steer manhacks thinking they are palying a game, the concept was cut and "manhack" weapon is probably a leftover from that stage of development
