Keep in mind that voice lines are muted underwater, so even if you're hiding in kelp or smoke don't hesitate to spot for your allies

I have to say, I have actually had some pretty fun underwater fights. The problem with Oshur is the lattice, overall battle flow, and most above sea level fights. I do think some people are missing out on the underwater fights, the water mechanics in general are so well polished.

I love underwater bases where nobody is using underwater guns. It forces everyone to play close to the point around cover. It's really exciting with drifter light assault.

My loadout for underwater currently: LA + drifter + carbine + infravision
Can float above the watersurface and take out submerged vehicles (with rockletrifle). Also its easy to spot the enemies hiding in the vines. Could get an amphibious smg gun in the secondary slot, I assume, for longer engagements; with the ASP perk.
I'm glad someone enjoys the sea fights, but to me they represent a lot of what I *don't* want in PlanetSide. PlanetSide is several game types in one, which means it will have brought people in from different gaming backgrounds. I came in from an RTS background, so I'm looking for strategy, tactics, combined arms, many different options to win (and lose), and that the leader who does the best job of putting it all together comes out on top.
Sea bases take away the vehicle play, take away the air play, take away the construction play, take a bunch of infantry's options, hell they don't even have any interaction from the boats most of the time. On top of that, they generally don't even interact with neighboring bases at all, I generally cap them as obligate stepping stones only to have 1 or 2 guys fly out gals from another base ahead of time to redeploy forward after the ghost cap.
I can see how someone who *wants* PlanetSide to morph into a CoD clone would like sea bases, but as someone who's here for strategy, tactics, combined arms and interaction with a bigger picture, sea bases scratch none of my itches.
Vehicles are an important part of underwater bases. If someone gets a good galaxy spawn point, it has to be taken out or they win.

For underwater heavy loadout, consider Resist Shield, rank 5 nanomesh specialist, and ASC. A lot of the downsides of the Resist Shield are reduced underwater.
Also it is kind of fun to bait out fire by using the Diver Propulsion Device while your resist shield is on. You then reset the engagement at a rock buddy, and blast who was shooting you.
Great video, I hope this will help encourage more underwater fighting on Oshur. I personally enjoy it, and it's a shame that so many people have been missing out on it because they do not yet understand it.
I have to say, I really expected more from Wrel, considering he was in the Navy . This should have been a love letter to his branch yet we got the most expensive waste of resources since Arena. At least DBG new when to pull the plug.

underwater combat is incredible
i mastered it the second i realized light assaults move faster under there so its the only time i play the class
4x on an any water rifle and just a little knowledge on how to move and youll master it
what used to be fun is on bridge fights the people who fell off the bridge were easy pickings since they usually couldn't fight as effectively and even when they come back with water weapons they still couldnt beat me thanks to me mastering how to move and aim its just too easy and fun
My defence strategy is Light Assault with drifter jets. I don't take the teleporter and will usually just drift in over the top from main spawn or take a pocket flash from the closest base and drift in over the top from there
I feel like a mention on how to *get* the AV knife would go a long way...
Ahh sorry my man. I did name them, so I think the wiki could take it from there. Its sort of involved to explain where they all come from so didn't really have time for it. The Ancient Psynetic blade is from an anniversary pack. The Saboteur is from either a campaign or a holiday event. The excursion kukri is from outfit wars. I don't know if there is one you can just purchase with certs or not.
@@CMDRCyrious spoiler alert: there isn't. So if you've missed the aforementioned events, or are unwilling to fork over 80 bucks for the bundle-only one, you're shit outta luck when it comes to a sustainable AV option underwater that doesn't involve dumping nanites...
I actually really like Oshur, I think the map is beautiful and really interesting! Once you understand how to play on Oshur its really fun, especially the underwater fights. To enjoy underwater fights use galaxies or deploy sunderer by activating Gate shield Defuser. Also use the glider with the spacebar it makes you move really fast. Last tip use amphibious weapons
I just tend to avoid Oshur- I actually enjoy a lot of the mechanics, but so many of the bases are way too open (or cramped, in some cases), and my squad is usually too small to have any major effect on battle flow. Outfits like FedX make base building as a small squad nearly impossible, too, cause they just fly around and bombard anything that starts relatively close to the front line
I hear planetside 1 had big robots. What if we launched. Them from underwater bases into the ocean floor. I still think the new boats are only the sunderrers of the boats. We can do more like missile submarines and sea versions of bastions.
I do way better under water because I don't rely on shuffling. My positioning is good, so I am hitting first most of the time.
Shuffling is bug abuse. Report everyone who does it.

The only good thing about BF2042 is this device that pops enemy grenades when they enter device range, PS2 should implement this.

I don't know why the anetside devs thought it was a good idea to add that kind of... sorry... but bullshit.
I LOVE the above water level and there could be cool sea combat. But underwater just feels awful ;-;

Its what I run usually...although I dabble in Infantry too.
A few days I was dealing with a lagging TR with my shotgun hits not registering...so I pulled a MAX. That fixed that problem real fucking quick.
IDC what you run. If I mag dump the NC heavy shotgun on burst fire in your face you die.
