Funny how a literal sandbox gets stale for people because they cling to a meta or some stats. Get out of your box once in a while.
for me planet side is about switching classes and playing style according to the type of battle that is going on, knowing what to play and when to play it will almost always result in some fun
Yup. If you only restrict yourself to one thing in a combined arms MMO is definitely selling yourself of the game short. Never understood people that wont adapt to the needs of the battlefield.
That's why I usually go either Medic or Engineer. I don't play Heavy despite the joy of having an lmg. I am debating on Infiltrator and Light assault because the only thing I know they are good for is flanking (for LA) and hacking while being stealthy (for Infl). MAX costs nanites so I don't want to get used to playing as a MAX. And this is for any of the 3 factions. I am on PS, and have yet to try PC since I am worried that my controller isn't compatible and my PC might not be strong enough.
Same here. I'm always jumping from class to class using most things in the game
I told my recent outfit mates that I'm a jack of all trades kinda player (I'm the newbie) and they told me I need to dedicate myself to one type of play style and invest in it. Like why? I like being all the classes for different reasons. I usually don't care to be the lmg rocket person, but just yesterday I started hunting TR air and having a ton of fun. Once that was done, I wound down with medic. Trying all aspects of the game is paramount to getting max enjoyment to me.
@@nightwolf3285continue doing that, mate. Planetside 2 literally gave us all the candies, why restrict yourself in eating only one type of candy?
I Enjoy Stalker cloaker just hiding in a room full of enemies.
Heavy Assault is probably my 4th least played class mainly because I love the freedom that light assault gives. I completely understand that heavy is probably a better choice in terms of kills per minute and arguably for 1v1ing but light assault allows for a lot of creativity and if you don't suck you can rack up a lot of kills by simply remaining elusive and taking picks.
also I'd say the ability to take out tanks easily is a huge plus.
Light assault and smg infil are my favorite for those reasons. Being able to get around to places that people won't expect and getting the jump on someone always tickles my brain in a nice way.
Imo the “best class” isn’t empirical when it applies to a random individual. Your best class is whatever you are most comfortable playing as.
Though hard numbers can suggest optimal play and what high-performance players are best at.
Rambling:
For example, if you’re a god-tier 1v1 king as a Heavy but you have terrible lag, then try infil or LA so that you begin engagement at your advantage to offset the disadvantage, assuming you play those classes well.
If gunplay isn’t your strongsuit but you like the spectacle the Medic or Engies are always appreciated, etc etc
I like to find large fights and spam decoy nades, resupply at a sunderer, then spam some more till i run out of nanites. Watching the assists come in makes me laugh knowing that it probably confused the hell out of the enemy seeing like 20 blips on the map, but no planetmans lol
Dude that stuff is so annoying, ive been guerrilla-ed by infiltrators so hard multiple times
I have to try this sometime in a ops with a bunch of people at the same time
decoy grenade is really strong especially with stalker cloak, throw it on top of a building and wait hahaha
Even just changing your class and loadout/playstyle for a session made it fresher for me. E.g. light assault roof camper vs aggro CQC light assault.
Super Guilty Pleasure! Being a stalker and flipping the bridges at Heyoka Chem on Amerish just as Armor brigades push towards Chimney or the Tech plant! you don't get the kills or the certs, but you do get a very angry response!!!

It’s also fun to do what I call “Cosplay Loadouts,” effectively gimmick builds for challenge/fun.
My favorites are Cowboy Light Assault (Slug Shotty made for short-mid engagements, with the Showdown sidearm for when I feeling like straining my eyes with long-range picks) or
Venom Snake Infil (Scout Rifle with Underbarrel Grenade Launcher, silenced Amphi pistol, nano cloak, XS-Flash Tactical, EMP Grenade, often the Sprint Suit, and I typically run the Catlike Implant for the improved escape options with the other implant slot being flexible)
I'm a simple person and just have fun on planetside - I'm looking for a large corridor mess and then the grenade belt, the nearest replenishment terminal and, in fact, the grenades themselves come into play.
The sound repeated with a period of a couple of seconds when a grenade explosion touches a couple of dozen soldiers, coupled with pop-up experience numbers, is surprisingly satisfying.
Especially when you see through the motion sensor that this crowd, which is now hastily resurrected by doctors (if they survived), was already about to go for a breakthrough.
"If you are tired of the game, play the game more. Maybe you'll like it back."
I like to annoy my opposition in ways that aren't like "I blow up C4 on my fash!". I preffer the "hey, all our vehicle/air terminals on this front got hacked and theres landmines everywhere!"
But you only have enough mines for one base or so. But yeah i do that when its been an even fight I just keep an eye on the pop and if see previous bases getting pop i immediately go valk engi tank mines and get los to certs that way
Using the Flash is alot of fun:
I often drive as Heavy Assault with a lock-on rocket launcher and switch seats to target enemy aircraft. As soon as the rocket is flying, I hop to the drivers seat and relocate. That is surprisingly effectively against aircraft and makes killing me so much more difficult for them.
And driving the Flash with Kobalt or mounted Shotgun inside buildings is also fun, because you can drive up stairs and through doors and surprise the enemy.
A single point in Combat Chassis is important to reduce sliding on the stairs.
This brings a bigger gun to the infantry fight and people like to join you on the back seat. You will die more often and it wont always work but is always worth a try if you feel bored.
There's nothing like going in a room full of enemies as stalker infil, stab people in the back and place proximity mines
another fun thing to do for all NSO out there is pull Javelins and hunt down lighting tanks, or literally anything you can shoot no bias.
The vid itself is pretty fun and informative, but what made me the most happy about it is that I didn't saw myself getting ganked over and over, and from what I gathered, we play on the same server (Cobalt). So, that's a bonus!

Knives were fun.
But ffs, knives SHOULD be able to attack while running, or have slightly longer reach.
I spent a year to get good at sniping. If I just play to be a sweaty jerk I can easily go 100+ kills / 20 deaths for an alert. A little less kills if I run with a platoon. It's so much fun and the occasional hackusations for getting the ultimate trick shot of shooting a static target who decided to fiddle around on their loadout on a deployed sundy in an active battlezone. Also, WRAITH RENAGADE FLASH WITH THE KAZOO HORN. It's such a horrible way to play the game. You would be the ultimate example of a bad person if you do it. I love it so much.
On the Colossus, it makes me think of one of Cyrus' suggestions on making them no longer an outfit resource item but something players can pull but make it where they also cost Merit along with Nanites. I know the balancing stuff that would need to go into it and the potential for really fucking over Bastions, but still a fun little thought if only a thought.

Occasionally I enjoy playing the overconfident MAX, out on the field trying to hunt vehicles. It's often more successful than I expect, and you can get up to some stupid fun with the right loadout.load out.
I agree with you on the platoon leading them. When I do it, I enjoy it, and it feels the best when it leads to an alert win. But it's so high energy, and I play PS2 with low energy usually, just chill stuff doing silly stuff in between the standard gameplay loop. Stalker infil is definitely a fun time if you do it right.
Back when sky guards were effective and you could actually kill a plane I used to drive all the way to an opposing factions warp gate sit outside and shoot planes coming out. I put some tank mines on the road cuz when one of them tried to drive a Sunday out I also get those kills. Those are good times.
whenever i tell people what we do in planetside i say who can commit the greatest atrocities and get away with it war crimes included so yea this is pretty decent
what im doing right now is getting the shuriken then after that ill give my TR character a break and go have some fun as a VS infil
I rarely play vehicles, but when i do i have a blast!
Radar ant is very fun. I swap between bulldog and kobalt depending on how many vehicles are around.
Mindless armor columns, harraser wolf packs, and a fleet of liberators are by far my top recomendations for fun if you can get enough people, If not however building an airfield and spawning solo aircraft over and over is good fun and practice if your wanting to learn esf's. C4 flashs or cloaked c4 flashs if you have a buddy is a good time especially if you can get those mbts that are just sitting back and getting killstreaks. power knife cloaker was fun until they nerfed the power knifes now its kinda meh, may as well poke people 2 or 3 times with defualt knife instead.

I don´t know what you mean with training material, CBMC does so much beacon training noone can comete with it...

@@SlavesWereGood I met a few days ago one who shot from underground (but he quickly disappeared somewhere and only killed me once) and one yesterday who shot me with a sander gun every time I was in line of sight when I was in disguise (although I'm not sure about him, because after a couple of deaths I almost blew him up with C-4 - there is a chance that he's just a big-eyed asshole) - so there are MUCH fewer cheaters in this game than in any another online shooter.
Moreover, planetside has the most loyal system for sending messages about cheaters, which I have seen in any game. Here they write to you in the log who killed you, unlike other games, in some of which if you did not send a report to the cheater during the round or did not manage to remember the nickname, then later you do not have such an opportunity - here you just see the record and you send a request for verification, it's easy and simple.
In the same 2042, I meet them quite often, so planetside is all right with this.
The only thing I still expect from the developers is the ability to pick up mines and C-4s back after they are installed. Perhaps one day they will do it.
