I downloaded the various software packages and looked at the uSDR program. Looking to change the start frequency when changing bands to the CW sections (I have very little use for the FT8 parts; trying to keep the SOTA/POTA activities to a minimalist point. Radio, antenna, battery, key, headphones and what's left of my brain.) Nice to be able to see how this works. Stay safe & sane! 73 de W8IJN

Hi dl2man ich habe mal eine frage kann man dort eigentlich ein anderes display anklemmen? Zum beispiel ein 20x4 um einen bargraf als s-meter zu nutzen.
Nur über I2C Bus. Die OLED Variante kann in der Software auf 4 Zeilen umgeschaltet werden, aber ohne echten Mehrwert. Die kommende finale Sandwich Version wird 4 Zeilen in der Software haben, um mehr von den Hardware-Funktionen anzuzeigen. Die Software dafür wird aber nur mit dieser Hardware funktionieren, und nur als Hex-File zur Verfügung gestellt werden, um den schlechten Kopien das Wasser abzugraben.
Hello all, I have an issue with getting the code file uploaded to any and all of my MCU's. I've updated my IDE to the latest and after doing that, nothing would work so I contacted Arduino help and it looks like they got it fixed because now I can change my IDE settings and get codes loaded from the libraries. Here's the deal I can upload codes from libraries and all works fine but for some reason related to integers at lines 4326 to 4332 the file fails upload, it passes compile test and as I stated, I can load other codes to the chips but not this code. This is the only thing holding me back from seeing my radios are going to work or not. I'm not a seasoned vet where it comes to Arduino or pretty much anything to do with a PC. Anyone have any input or output? I put all this stuff away a few months ago frustrated so memory is not going to be any help for the moment. I need to pull all my uSDX parts and stuff out to re connect to this PC and someone to hold my hand through this. I've watched this video more times than anyone else but it isn't getting me anywhere because doing what is instructed here doesn't make it work. Like I said, I can get into it and make other codes work but not the code from github to go onboard the chips yes chips. I have a bunch of them and I've tried them all. They work for about anything but this code file

I assume. I´m the hardware guy, when it comes to methods of Software programming, I rely on other´s expertise.
is arduino UNO a must have? I have arduino MEGA, can I use it to program uSDX?
No. You can use arduino mega as well. Just be sure to use the correct pins.

Quick warning for Linux users. If you install the Arduino IDE from the repositories (apt-get or Synaptic type installs) you will get an old version and it will not compile the code. You must get the newer version directly from the Arduino site like this video shows.

@@dl2man Arduino IDE works on linux mint i try it and i have version 1.8.19 .Effectivelly i have probelem with the file USDX.ino . Cannot compile on Linux and Windows too i have error . I have this Error : Stray "\ 302 " in program when i make verificatioin /compilation . no problem with old version 1.02W
This seems pretty much impossible since the holes on the radio are not marked and have no way to connect them. Then, when I get that sorted do I use version 1.02 or 1.03 from github or 4.00d they talked about on Facebook? I have no idea what version it is now so I'm just going to leave it alone!

Great video, thanks. I have a 2.1 Sandwich that is working but has an older firmware with less functions in the menu, also the encoder is reversed. I followed your steps but get this error message: "avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature". I get the same message if I try to burn the boot loader. Any suggestions?
problem solved, broken wire inside the connector.
Why not just program the uSDX directly from the PC instead of using an intermediate UNO to complicate things?
Because ATMega Controllers without Bootloader need to be programmed via ISP. There´s no other way to communicate with them.
@@dl2man How do I tell if the Arduino has a bootloader and if not wouldn't it be simpler to just install one? Since I have a uSDX transceiver that is already working that has Rx and Tx connections can't I just connect a USB adapter right to it?
