Two questions. Will it ever work in a way that it's plug in play and doesn't require that app running in background? Secondly, Who do I send the solar panels to?
Hi Julian, with (tr)uSDX hardware, it will never be plug and play without that app in the background. (tr)uSDX has no soundcard onboard. This is why we need to stream audio over CAT, and the app in the background seperates the CAT commands from the audio stream and makes it accessible for digimode apps. Oli SQ3SWF was laying the first brick and Guido built upon it. Your call ;) 73 Manuel; DL2MAN

I was curious and just tested it with my (tr)uSDX and it works right away. It's amazing what good programmers and developers can do. I am awestruck. It's an experimental firmware and I hear the fan motor howling up and down in the device audio, along with other USB noises. Already very interesting. I use several classic USB cables with which I also program the device and there are no differences. maybe an ACER peculiarity. However, I will now switch back to my original firmware version. Normally I use audio cables and a USB sound card. The audio is cleaner that way for me. Many thanks to those involved for their innovative work. 73, Matt DH2LAB
Wow. Very nice work again Manual, Guido and the community. I am glad that there are clever guys to help me enjoy my hobby even more. Thank you very much.
This is awesome, I'm able to use FT8CN and the beta firmware for a fully mobile rig with CAT control & audio over USB on my Android, (tr)sdx and a half wave end fed.
So, just bought my trusdx and figured out how to change the firmware to the beta version. It had already been shipped with a version that had the spectrum function and when I installed the version that instead has the practice function and then tried to go back to the beta version my cw function would go crazy even with auto decode set to off, then if I didnt leave to usb/lsb/fm/am the whole unit would lock and freeze. Eventually it just started saying put error even after unplugging the unit. Going back to the regular firmware with the practice function it now finally works again. Not sure where bugs and glitches are supposed to be reported but this is my attempt anyways.
Please have a look at the changelog on the beta page. Practice mode was removed as menu option and can be set by setting TX Drive to 0. 73 Manuel; DL2MAN

I'm looking forward to trying this out! I can get rid of some of the excess cables I carry in my box. I do have a question through. Does this require the new 1.2 PCB to work? I don't want to risk bricking my radio; at least no more than usual 🙂 I currently have the prior BETA loaded with no issues. It is one of the original boards though.
Hi Manuel. Do you think there's a lot cross talk on the cable ? Is that why a "good" USB cable is needed. I'm running into some issues getting any CAT control to work in Linux. I'll be on the forums, don't worry :)
On my machine, COM7 and COM8 are already allocated to Serial over Bluetooth links (this was done when I set up a MobilinkD TNC4, I believe). I'm worried that, if I reassign these Serial over Bluetooth links to different COM ports, it is going to break something. Is it really necessary to have COM8 reserved for the (tr)uSDX?
Hello Manuel, congrats for the succes of this project, I've got two questions that i haven't been able to find an answer for (1) Is it possible to replace the micro usb connector for an usb c and still have this functionality? (2) Are there plans for a future PCB revision featuring USB C? Thanks in advance

I have an issue where running the driver software causes the radio to get stuck in a rebooting loop. This loop stops if the driver is closed, so it doesn't appear to be an RFI issue. Do you have any advice Manuel? I would appreciate the help.
As mentioned in the video, we do not support the driver, as there are way too many variables involved. You can try asking that question in my forum: forum.dl2man.de/index.php
Hello Manuel .I have recently finished my trusdx and it works well but was curious about efficiency and ft8. Would I risk damaging my fets at .50 watts and below 80 percent efficiency? Thanks for the great rig 73
A clear no. With only 0,5W (only USB Power Supply) it´s virtually impossible to destroy the PA FET on a half way decently working device. So: 0,5W are safe and this is, why I also recommend to do all Filter Tuning only at USB Power Supply. Only when your filters are tuned, switch to higher voltages.
@@dl2mansorry for asking again but would it risk damage at 10.5v input and about 78 percent efficiency with perfect swr on ft8? Im sure on ssb not an issue.
