In one of my worlds where I lived until summer was chopping the trees in the oasis then it turned into a poisoned porchnut and it killed me I was very angry after that
Super helpful video! I've always heard "don't rely on an early base" but I've never been told how I can survive without one. Should almost be mandatory for new players!
I think its great how you didn't bother to equip any kind of Armour before you fought any of this mobs, it really lets the viewer know straight off the bat that you are very confident in you kiting skills which encourages the viewer to see the whole video through. anyways, thank you for making this video it really helped make my kiting skills a might bit better.
Great tutorial. I think it's a must see for all beginners. Why didn't you include frogs, though? It's rather tricky to synchronize them (and god help you if decide to fight them during frog rain), but if you manage to pull this off, you can fight up to a dozen of them at once. One tip, though: put some dummy items in your first inventory slot, like twigs or something. Also, didn't know the trick with the birchnut tree. As far as I've read, if you go too far it just reverts back to being a tree. Maybe if you take long enough, I'm not sure. What I've personally found to be the easiest way to defeat them is having some pigs around. As soon as one pig gets hit by a birchnutter or a root/tentacle, they all start targeting the tree and eventually chop it up.
Marciliy just create at least 3 trap and make frogs chase you in about 2 minutes you get tons of legs and you dont have to worry about your healt cuz you will not be fighting traps do the work
When I fight shadows, sometimes they will just randomly despawn, I am guessing it's either a change in time if day, day->dusk, but I really am not sure. My Sanity doesn't go up, so they didn't die, and they leave no drops either.
about the shadow creatures. use force attack each time atleast 1-2times after hitting him once. because sometimes he will teleport under you. but by using force attack you will hit him again and make him teleport away and you do not receive any damage and sometimes it also makes killing them much faster.
I play there too and I agree it's much harder to play in pocket edition because it's harder to control but I'm a noon in pocket edition and in the pc edition
poison birchnut trick doesn't work anymore. now you need to stand at the trunk and swing twice, take a few steps to the other side to dodge his root, swing twice. I don't know a good way to get rid of the nutters so I bring pigs if I'm playing a weak character.
1 axe worth of wood (ones with pine cones) 15 twigs/ 15 grass Every flower you see to 50 Gold to 20 Backpack Shovel To Replant: 40 Grass plants 30 saplings (twigs) 10 berry bushes All the pine cones you can get (6 for crock pot charcoal) By day 7 you should be based in. 1st grass / berry / twig crop on day 11 or 12. Just circle around from your spawn. No need to explore the Entire world at first. Swamp + mosaic close by for base. Swamp gives you food and weapons. Mosaic gives you rocks, flint, gold. Rabbit holes close by help also. Day 15 base starts are noob as can be...
It's funny how due to my horrible connection, even when i'm hosting, i tend to get fewer hits on almost all other mobs and get punished if i try to push my luck yet i can somehow consistently get an extra lag hit on shadow creature, saving a lot of time and effort fighting multiple at a time.
Nice tip video but what I wanna know is a detailed attack guide on pigs. I'm having so much trouble farming pig and I don't have the resources yet to make a proper pig farm
1. Get the monster meat (from spiders is the easiest way unless you just had a hound wave) 2. Feed the pig 4 monster meats 3. Watch it turn into Werepig Werepig doesn't run after hit, so it makes it much easier. Werepigs also always drop pig skin and two meats, which pigs only have CHANCE to drop. 4. Dodge werepig's attack 5. Hit 2x Repeat.
They are an unusual mob to fight because you can make them fight each other, you can turn them into a werepig and you can just hammer their home if you want the resources to start a pig farm. But if you want to fight them as they are I guess I did a little of that towards the end of this video: ua-cam.com/video/FqMt0aYBEPM/v-deo.html
That is probably not something you need to fight early in the game. But you can avoid spawning them as much as possible by drawing out the normal spiders first away from the nests.
if you're the one initiating the fight, you can prep some traps/ rabbit traps and trap them 3 or 4 at a time. run one round, claim the traps and repeat the process it's an easy way to clear tier 3 nest before spider queen spawn and get the egg
Same like normal spiders, except you dodge to direction instead of running away when dodging, as they jump only in straight path. Also they have more health than regular spiders
Don't try to take on the Warriors in the early game. Instead you go about killing the Spiders in the nest slowly and methodically, so that you don't spawn the Warriors at all. Walk onto the best webbing, and a few normal Spiders will spawn and walk towards you. Wait for their second screech, that tells you they're now coming to attack you. Then walk off the webbing and wait for the Spiders to step off as well - THEN kill them. If you attack while they're still on the webbing, that will trigger a group of Spider Warriors to jump out at you. That's not what we're looking for. If that happens, run away until the Spiders return to the den. Once they're all back inside, try again.
I feel like tallbirds are impossible to kite in dst. In solo ds, I can easily hit them 2 times before moving away. But in dst, one hit and they already hit me lmao
The birchnut treeguard? Trying moving farther away. Also, if there are other players in your game, make sure that they are moving away from the birchnut treeguard too before you return to it.
I came here hoping to find advice on hounds. Every hound video I've seen is "just let the pigs/beefalo kill them!" but I don't settle all that close to beefalo and the pigs are always asleep during an attack. Luckily I have learned how to fight thme myself on my own, but I still think it's odd how I cant find a single video about fighting hounds.
Personally I just either: go near some bee nests; go to a treeguard I had pacified nearby; go to a lure plant (and then destroy it for the loot). in case I have neither I just go to some spider nests. Once I went to the moosegoose and she destroyed them easily so lots of strategies depending where and when you make the base. must be why there are not many videos I think.
I probably should have included that as an option. But when they overwhelm later on in the game, kiting is no longer a good option. Yeah, come to think of it, I don't remember seeing any hound kiting videos. In my Maxwell playthrough though, I think I explained how to kite them for the first few waves (maybe like day 1-35). Since that is what I always do for the first couple of waves when there are not too many hounds yet.
If playing as any character with the default damage modifier...get a tentacle spike (which is quite easy if you know the pattern). With it, you can 3 shot any hound, which means as soon as they attack, dodge then nail them 3x. You can do this if you are fast and kill it before it can land it's attack. This is how you prevent them from overwhelming you no matter the number. I play as a nomad and I have never had help with hound waves of any size. Another nice thing is that the Ice / Fire hounds are weaker HP wise, so they go down in 2 hits with a tentacle spike, meaning you can safely stack and kite if you don't want to risk being frozen by killing 2 ice hounds in a row.
I'm referring to temperature. I thought that was obvious:) But there are even more ways than that if you want to get technical: falling rocks eating food that lessens health picking cactus picking a rose meteors crafting a telltale heart crafting an effigy the atrium portal exploding Those don't fall under hunger and mobs.
@@pongsazaaa Well... technically anyone except the host can log out overnight if that happens. I can relate though. We were going to play DST with 4 of us and the host decided to grab a modded character with massive movement-speed and he circled around me despite me asking him to go the opposite direction. Had to log out during the night. And he wonders why I've mostly played alone since then. (He asked permission for the mods but we said it's fine IF it's balanced, night vision, hp-regen, insane movement speed with zero downsides isn't what we had in mind. Spiders?? Stunlock?? There's no need for kiting if you stun lock??? If you play Wendy, Abigail's AOE attack stunlocks all spiders allowing you to kill them easily.
I probably came off as rude I just meant to say that spiders stun lock which logically means they should be easier to kill??? Especially if you're playing a character who isn't Wendy because they have a normal damage modifier? I just don't understand the use of kiting spiders so please explain?
Honestly, I might be having trouble understanding your question because my answer is obvious. But anyway: If you see a single spider, you can just walk up to it and punch it till it dies. But you can't walk up to multiple synchronized spiders and just start hitting them to death without getting hit. There are different ways to do it, but I just gave 1 quick example that would work in the early game without a spear.
#1 tip right there in the thumbnail, go for the eyes!
I first thought you were going to say "The Poison Birchnut Tree: Do not bait, Do not dodge, do not attack... JUST RUN"
I conceder myself an experienced play, and even I didn't know that tip about the poison trees. very nice.
Looks like an exploit to me, not really a tip

Thanks.

In normal dont starve, you can hit the koalafant 7 times before it attacks, but this requires you to not have any ping/have a lot of fps.

That is probably not something you need to fight early in the game. But you can avoid spawning them as much as possible by drawing out the normal spiders first away from the nests.
