Thanks for the video, the instructions that came with my kit were rather vague, I’d never have worked out how to power it from brown brake light cable & grey crank sensor cable. Took me a while to work out that the plug that’s disconected is then used with both ends to make a bridge with the gear indicator! I also made an “L” shaped tab out of an aluminium number plate, and hot glued it in place between speedo & fairing. I also gave up on the scotch “snap shut” cable jointers as they were very fiddly, so I cut my cables & joined then using crimp style connectors. 👍🏻
You can't just install them on any negative and positive wires though ... Could cause serious issues. Unless I've missed quite what you're saying ..not sure which bit in the video you're commenting 👍
lol people who say "if you can ride properly you don't need one" don't ride bikes. i also got a fz6 exept mine the naked version. really fun bikes and i do get what you mean by trying to shift in to 6th when you are already there. i find it amazing how well and smooth they ride in 6th att fairly low speeds.
Yeah agreed. Doing some advanced riding and keep getting told off for being in a high gear, like 4th/5th, at low speeds... Being told there's now power there... I'm like, there's plenty!!

I too would love to have a gear selected indicator on my motorcycle, mainly to indicate first and second gear so I can more confidently find neutral (for which an indicator is provided). I came across this device on Ali-Express and I now know (thanks to this video) that this is not the device I was looking for. The neutral sensor on my bike (a Royal Enfield 650 twin) provides 7 different output voltages, one for each of the 6 gears and a 7th for neutral. The plug/socket is the same but obviously serves a different function so I won't be trying to use the one shown in this video (I've ordered one but I hope not to use it now although probably I could change the plugs to make it work with my bike). Instead I'll program a micro-controller to detect those 7 voltage levels and display the correct gear on a 7 segment display. Wish me luck.

So rewatched coz it was years ago, flashing L, how long you waiting with engine running that it goes to flashing 1? ... If it never goes to flashing 1 it would tell me it can't pickup a signal from something, speed or rpm

@@PiggyPower I assume these will fit a carbed srad. I've messaged a seller on ebay as he mentions in his listing they will only fit injected bikes. Wondering whether that's just his wiring looms on them though.
Hey, yeah just search for one with your bike as part of the search, I'm sure you'll find one. The system uses a signal for rpm and a signal for speed. Plus power and earth. That's it. 👌
Just installed mine and failed the learning process, says 1st gear is nothing and 2nd is first , I tried disconnecting the battery and all wires from it but it won't re-learn at all ... just my luck lol
Yes, I need a model with an abs system, because I don't have a three-pin connector. I have a 4-pin connector. But the question is where to find such an indicator for a model with abs

Thanks for the video. You can install the positive and negative wires on other wires though, since they're positive and negative, of course.

Yours is also going to L , from 6 to 1 and then L.. flashing L. Mine also, but then it’s not going to 1

There is a procedure to cancel what has been learnt and start again, check the instructions 👌

my bike wont start after I went into the brake line
also the fact that u went above and beyond to wire your own clips really didnt do me any justice as someone who is using the red splice clip things.
The brake line? Don't need to touch the brakes in anyway at all!
Don't use the splice clips. Awful things which work as a quick fix but not long term 👍
@@PiggyPower It was the brake light power line now the actual brake lines.
Are you sure you spliced into the correct wire? Perhaps you blew a fuse? Checked fuses? Doubled check wires?
