What I value most is safety, and in the most dangerous races in the world, the TT, for decades the most used helmet, for non-top riders, who have to spend money from their pocket, choose Arai. For something it will be, of course always always Arai.
Comfort of the arai is significantly better than the agv. I've owned both, and after the arai, i would NEVER go back to agv. The agv constantly has bits and pieces that break, some repairable, some not. The arai fits you like a glove, however the agv feels loose.
Agv is very very pretty, all arounded helmet. But..arai for me. Somehow i think its a bit like when you compare v4r and zx10rr. Both are very good helmets though.
That's a fair point, both are top of the line so it can become hard to find one better than the other. What did you think of the results for the RX-7V's road test?
I cant see how doing noise tests on a touring bike would give any valid results. A race helmet on a touring bike will be at the wrong angle and give more noise. Same as a touring helmet tilted down in a racing position
Hey there and thanks for the feedback! We're always trying to work to improve our road tests. For race helmets in this case, we don't really take into account our noise values since that's not what these helmets were designed for and our bike doesn't allow for testing them in racing position. So, we try to gauge their aerodynamics while out on the highway at higher speeds. To mitigate this as well we use the same bike to control any differences between the tests. Would you go for the AGV or the Arai?
I have the AGV and the deciding factor was the stability tucked in behind a screen, the taller visor to see when tucked in and the better lock on the visor in the slightly open position
Both helmets should be pretty safe. Though the Pista GP RR hasn't been rated by SHARP yet, the previous Pista GP R has. According to them, both helmets got 5 stars, so they're both good, but the RX-7V did a bit worse for impacts from the side. Though then again, Arai have given it a round profile to help with glancing off impacts. Ultimately, it's hard to always tell since each impact is different so certain features may work in each helmet's favor. Thanks for the question! Which helmet were you thinking of going for?
While both helmets will perform best at higher speeds on the track, both should be good for daily riding. It depends on whether you value ventilation higher, which the Arai did better on, or the weight and comfort which the GP RR was better at. Ultimately, both helmets are top tier and these differences were mostly about a 0.5 star difference so both should serve well. Thanks for the question! Do you prefer the Arai or the AGV?
alot especially in a hot day out on track here in thailand the arai rx7 perfrom far better then the agv on the ventilation terms i have both and my arai rx7v is always the one i pick for track work
Pista by far. Arai feels heavy and more sweaty on my head and neck. and pista is extremely more aerodynamic also with its pinlock 0 fog issues like never and i ride long night hours. Needs earbuds tho. Arai needs special head to fit also. Agv on me fits like a glove.
Thanks for letting us know how you found the helmets! Our rider came to the same conclusion for the GP RR's noise level as well. How did you find the comfort of the interior for the two helmets?
@@Championhelmets i have neck problems due to dirt riding champs when i was 5-17 yrs of age. Agv pista is the only which can make me ride all day long no issues. But it can get bit more 'heated' inside than arai for a weird reason. Arai i dare to say feels bit more comfortable despite its weight but periferance sides vision agv is much superior so that makes it less head momentum equals.less neck efford ot the curves and twisties which makes agv pista more comfortable for aggressive riding . Also agv pinlock and visor material is better for fog . I understand the emotional factor of wearing an arai ..is unique. But when night commuting hway rides and aggressive weekend rides matters for me is pista . But ear wind whistle and not 100% lock of the visor sometimes has always been an agv issue. Arai has better materials there I believe the real daily use and aggressive riding battle is between agv corsa r and arai rx7v as the pista is a leaque of its own alsp pricing here where i come from to order it is 400 euros more
That's a fair opinion, and it's true the Arai is significantly heavier. Though this comes from a thicker EPS liner and shell, which greatly adds on the safety, it won't be more challenging to use for aggressive riding because of fatiguing, as you pointed out. The Corsa R vs the Arai RX-7V is also a good point since, other than the Corsa R being lighter, the two actually performed very similarly when we took them out on the road. Thanks for the reply!
Thanks for the comment! We try to keep our data collection as fair as possible during our tests, so we tested the two helmets in the same conditions and on the same bike. We've also been the first to actually try measuring the difference between helmets in the real world. However, it's also perfectly fine to prefer the RX-7V over the Pista GP RR. What do you prefer about the Arai?
@@Championhelmets I actually liked your comparison First and foremost! I prefer the comfort for a daily rider and it's way quieter to me than the pista although I guess that is a matter of perception. But they both are outstanding helmets and definitely worth the investment
The Arai definitely does lend itself better to the versatility of a track day and an every day helmet. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Arai!

At the tend of the day safety is the most important in terms of motorcycle helmets. Would you go for the RX-7V or a different Arai helmet?
always the top..RX 7V TT edition series now, I also have the QV pro but I don't find many differences in both. Regards.
@@Jumacado Sounds great, safe travels!
I like the pista style. But I prefer arai it fits me better
No mention of the chin spoiler on the Arai that you may pull down...
excellent review. I prefer the pista gp. Is it DOT approved?
Thanks! The GP RR is DOT approved, in addition to being ECE and FIM approved. What do you prefer about the Pista?
